Mai Plumbing is a highly rated family business. They installed all the gas and water lines for our kitchen remodel about 10 years ago. It was a big job which they did quickly and efficiently. We had a gas line put in for a gas dryer but it was in the wrong place for the layout of the laundry room. We called Brand X because we had a coupon. Their plumber told us how much it would cost to move the line. We decided to just get the copper line capped and use the 220 electrical outlet for an electric dryer. The estimate was still very high in our opinion. So I called Mai (which I should have done to begin with). The next day their guys came out and capped the line super fast, with a minimum of damage, and about the price of the other guy's estimate. Thanks, Mai's! Next time I'll call you first! read more

Replaced two sink drain assemblies, replaced two sink shut-off valves, disconnected old pool heater from gas line then disconnected and capped old pool heater line at the meter. One sink was a pedestal sink which required 3 hours to replace the drain assembly and the shut-off valves. The rest of the work was done in another hour and a half. Charged $200 per hour plus $50 service charge plus cost of parts. So $900 for the labor alone. The $200 per hour rate was a bit of a shock, but shame on me for not asking what the Mai's rates were before starting the work. Fast response was needed and Mai was able to come out in relatively short time. Work was adequate but wouldn't recommend because of the labor rates. read more

Hired Mai Plumbing twice recently and they are one of the most honest and professional plumbing companies I have ever worked with. First- they were able to resolve a cleaning pad jammed down the toilet bowl within minutes (myself and a handy-friend could not find it after taking the toilet apart ourselves and giving it an honest effort with a wire-hanger), and were able to do quite a lot of other small items around the house for the 1-hour service minimum they were scheduled for. Second- they were able to find and resolve an underground leak on my front lawn, right next to a large tree, and fix this very quickly, with one of the owners who personally came and helped the 2-person crew finish the job very efficiently (without charging me a higher hourly rate). I breathed a huge sigh of relief that they were able to take care of all the digging and cleanup in addition to the plumbing work. Years ago Mai was a good company, but unfortunately not any more. They do not background check and do not drug test their employees. Several of their customers have had items, jewelry, etc stollen by Mai repair men. Mai Co admitted to the thefts but refused to reimburse the customers. They are not bonded or insured either. If you use this company you are on your own with a possible drug addicted thief in your home. Do not use this company! read more

Great service! We moved our refrigerator in anticipation of getting a new one the next day. The water line for the ice maker could not be turned off and we couldn't fix it because it was soldered on. We had to turn off the water to the house and find someone to fix it ASAP. We called several companies, one telling us they could be out in a week. He was convinced that my sewer line was broken and it was going to cost big bucks. The guys from Mai came out and it was nothing more than an clogged pipe. We used these plumbers for a gas leak we had. While their work seemed ok, I've never dealt with a ruder company owner. Obviously, with a gas leak, it is an emergency situation and we had to get someone out fast. They were several days into the work when the owner, Carl, was first rude to me. He was telling me that they might have to rip up our deck to fix the gas line. He was quick to point out that they would not be fixing it. I'm not a carpenter! He exclaimed loudly and rudely. I had not asked him if they were going to fix it, he just let me know. He also then said, "for example, if we have to rip up a wall, we won't fix that." "We are not repairmen!" He again stated. At that point I was wishing we had used someone else, but it was too late. At the end of the work, it took Carl several days to get us the bill. When it arrived, it was $4700.00. About two days after we got it, Carl called to ask when we would send the money. I asked,"Can I write you a check for $2000.00 today?" NO!! he practically shouted at me. "I'm not a bank!" "We don't do that-I'm out of pocket for this, etc." At this point I had not lost my temper at all, I was politely asking. "So I need to pay all of it today?" I asked. His answer was a very rude "Yes!-absolutely". I mailed the check and hoped to never deal with them again. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. During this process, somehow our gas fireplace will now not light. I had called several repairmen, including an electrician thinking it might be the switch that didn't work. The electrician explained that there was a gas valve that was not on. Since we had already paid Mai plumbing $4700.00, I called Carl to see if they could come out and see about getting the valve fixed. He said he could probably come out, and when I asked if he would charge for that, he went back into rude mode. "We didn't break it!" He literally yelled at me. "We don't work for free!" He then tried to say the fireplace was already not working when they came the first time, which absolutely is not true. He was literally yelling at me, laughing at me, and not letting me get a word in at all. We will never use this company again. There are lots of plumbers, it's definitely worth it to look around for one who is able to use common decency. read more

I would recommend Mai Plumbing to anyone! We had a busted pipe under our driveway and could barely get a plumber to call us back or come out to look at the problem. After about a day of a HUGE leak we could barely use the water inside the house. Carl had a team at my house the next morning to find the leak and install a temporary line until he could completely fix the leak the following week which saved us from having to go to a hotel. They were able to go under my driveway to minimize the damage and had it fixed in a few days. The bill was very reasonable and there were no surprises. This company is the best! read more
