This is a two star place that could be four stars with an efficient staff. It's a fun place to go spend your birthday. The Gravity walk is pretty fun. It's essentially a high ropes course. I also love that they have my favorite Wheel of Fortune game hiding among the arcade games. My friends also had fun shooting hoops in the basketball section. Food is mediocre and the service is slow. Our server essentially disappeared for an hour after taking our order. I wanted to leave but I had stupidly paid in advance because I thought I was leaving early. I also found the food overpriced for the quality that I received. Also, as it can get crowded, you may find yourself competing with other groups for the shuffleboard, Gravity reservations, bowling alleys, etc. Probably better if you can come on the weekdays when it's less crowded. This is my first visit to Main Event. Indeed, I'd never heard of it before. I came here for lunch because I was next door at a business related training. I had a grilled Salmon on a bed of rice with roasted string beans. It was delicious. I mentioned I went here because of some training I was attending for work. Some of my co-workers recommended it, due to the fact that it was within walking distance of a training. The first thing that impressed me, when I walked in, was the fact that it was loud! Much louder than I'm used to. And I've been to sports bars. This place beats the sports bars I've been to, for noise level. If it were just that, I would give Main Event 3 stars. But I didn't feel that would be fair to them, as Main Event offers much more than just dining. There's bowling, billiards and paint ball. Since I was here for a work related lunch I didn't have the time to experience any of the other activities one could do here. So, I think it best to give them a 4, as those other activities could easily be agreeable to people looking to do more than just dine. read more

Showed up the grab dinner at my boyfriend's student conference dinner and was pretty bummed to see that the server was nowhere to be seen. He's a teacher and he had a group of adult chaperones with a group of kids and had been there about an hour and some before I got there. I sat down and for 20 minutes I saw no other server than a girl in glasses. After her 3rd pass, I stopped her and told her I knew she wasn't my server, but I wanted to order. She not only took my drink order she recommended a sandwich, which I modified and another person in the group was able to get an order in too. I saw our server only when something was being run and when the ticket came. I ordered a beer and a meal. I would have ordered a second beer if the server had come over to check up on the table even once. At any rate, the point is, Letty took phenomenal care of us and I made sure to take care of her, but literally all servers should be striving for that level of excellence. I've done the server thing and I know a good server when I see one. Well done. I hope management talks to their staff about being attentive, paying attention to changes in parties, and having some hustle. This visit got three stars because the service was terrible, but Letty was an absolute gem who redeemed the visit. Furthermore, her recommendation was on point. Our company decided to have an employee appreciation day here, it's not the first time we've had an event here but it was the first time we've had such crappy service. While the food was good and the arcade, bowling and laser tag was fun, Chelsee the bartender had the worst customer service and attitude I have ever experienced here. She could definitely use some tips from Rae on what customer service should look like. While I understand staffing is an issue everywhere that doesn't excuse the way she treated almost all of us during our event. She was belligerent, condescending and much more interested in catching up with friends to properly perform her job. When called out on her attitude and lack of customer service she became so concerned in making sure I didn't receive any more service that I ended up having to drive 2 drunk coworkers home because she over served them all while repeatedly telling me she wouldn't serve me when all I wanted was a Dr. Pepper. While the overall experience was decent and Raes upbeat personality and service made up for Chelsees below subpar service it seems like management might need to retrain the one person who managed to upset Everyone at our company event. read more

Aw man! I went here with my friend after telling him how wonderful this place was. We went to play billiards. We went to wait in the long line at the counter (since billiards is listed along with the other activities.) Once we FINALLY got to the counter we were told that we had to go to the bar. Then we go to the bar to pay for billiards. When we got to the bar all the pool tables were empty. By the time the bar tender FINALLY decided to stop flirting with other patrons, almost all of the tables were taken. We were then told it's a better deal to purchase the all day pass for about $18. Why the heck didn't the guy tell us this at the counter!?!?! Well lesson learned if you're going to play pool, purchase the all day pass if you'll be there for two hours or more. We were there just a little over an hour and it was $9 just for pool! I can only hope that the customer service will improve. It is the one place you can bring your kids to, pretend like you're there to entertain your kids but really you're there to relive a childhood. The full service bar available for parents provides comfort for a variety of reasons. Reasons why Main Event needs that full service bar: 1. As your children inevitably melt down from the overstimulation and crackhead-like need for more money on their fun pass because they've already blown through $30 in 10 minutes, you can choose a cold beer for manageable meltdowns or a shot of tequila for the meltdowns requiring an exorcism. 2. As you watch your kid's birthday cake being cut, you realize that the server has 2 inch fake nails and is getting the cake frosting underneath them, mixing with God only knows what other bacteria that will end up on your plate. Alcohol helps you forget the germaphobic panic attack you could potentially have in secret in their bathroom. 3. Alcohol makes everything taste better. Usually. Their food is decent. I mean, if you aren't a food snob and don't know the difference between bacon bits and cooked bits of bacon on your loaded fries, then you'll probably think the food is great! Otherwise, just drink, and you'll be fine. 4. As you snap at your partner or kid for something minuscule, you can blame it on the alcohol. In reality, you're probably snapping because you, yourself, are overstimulated from the pins being knocked down in the bowling alley, the lights and sounds from the arcade, and the kids having their own meltdowns from their overstimulation. I was a guest at a birthday party a while back and was waiting for the food to be served. While waiting to eat, I noticed our host bring out a pizza that was then dropped face down against a cabinet. She then pulled someone in charge, laughed, then was given the okay to serve the pizza to a group of CHILDREN. The lady in charge had dark, short hair, wearing a purple shirt. Anyways, I gave Main Event a second chance as my grandson wanted his birthday to be celebrated here. This time, I noticed a female manager with another employee in the party area acting very flirtatious and touchy with one another. I fear that I will have a party that is neglected due to employees being distracted by their managers. The pin arm constantly knocked over extra pins, and you pay by the hour, so if the hour is up half way through the game, it stops the game and forces you to buy another hour. This place place is all BAM but has no GLAM! So I have read all the reviews and they're all true. When you go to this place even though you read all the warnings and prior horrible experiences from other guests and then write a bad review on here.. DO NOT be surprised to get the same transcribed apology from the branches 'social media' representative stating " hey [insert your name] I'm very sorry you hear your experience. I'd love to learn more about your visit to our Albuquerque location. Please send us a direct message" So the first time I came here we went to the desk and paid about 45 for two people to rent shoes and bowl, on a weekend, and were told it would be TWO hours. Thinking okay fine whatever we will get food. Since we didn't see any host we sat down at a table and waited 11 minutes until we complained. As we were waiting there we saw a employee arguing with his apparent girlfriend who got out of her job (still in her Pandora outfit and name tag). Also saw a bunch of employees standing around and walking past us. We complained to one manager and he got us paired with some guy. The guy waiter apologized stating it wasn't his area but he'd do us a favor and cover for someone because they were busy. He brought the first drinks and then apparently that was all he would do. He assumed without telling the girl waitress we were her customers so she assumed he was taking care of us. We waited another 20 minutes before going to the desk for a manager to complain. The manager listened and claimed he understood. He stated he'd cover the bill. Not that I'd expect them to cover alcohol but they only covered two entrees and not even the appetizer. But oh well the thought and gesture resulted in giving them a second chance (see below). However we continued the night. The buzzer to let us know the bowling lane was ready buzzed twice when it wasn't even ready. When the lane was finally ready (due to horrible food service) the food wasn't even ready and they had to deliver it to the bowling lane. The waitress there wasn't even good either. Not to mention when bringing over the food (common sense) we had to ask for silverware and napkins. 2nd visit- So the second visit wasn't on a good start either. After walking aimlessly around for two minutes without help and No host in sight (the excuse was she had a baby- no customer cares what she did or why she isn't there) so to ensure we got attention/service we went directly to a manager. Times: 4 minutes until drinks arrived 11 minutes until appetizer arrived 15 minutes until entrees arrived Pros: Laser tag, bowling, 'high' ropes, food, full bar, games, pool/blizzard, shuffle board, private rooms. Neutral: Food is okay Cons: The worst customer service Bad management (who makes excuses for their employees) Over priced! (dave and busters has cheaper games and better food) Basic and Repetitive responses from the business owners (via yelp)- they "Chris M" responds without even reading your review No accountability A lot of clowns, rude, loud, and obnoxious people who weren't raised right will be identified as their customers (which is why apparently they have armed security) The crane games are borderline never winnable with an exception to the ducks The employees play games instead of doing their jobs They also hire security gaurd who wish they were cops and act as bouncers. Nor does their uniform even say security on it. There in no way any reason (when there is small children) to have a untrained armed SECURITY guards with firearms at a place of family "fun". Disorganized, clueless response to a peanut allergy inquiry cost us time and money. Came with another family on 5/5/2018 for a birthday party with reservation made with prior management assurances that peanut allergies could be accommodated for one of the children. At party time, was told--to the contrary!--that peanut oil is used throughout the kitchen, that only options that "might" be safe were Caesar salad and salmon. Left as a group and had to make an alternative plan on the spot after spending an hour bowling. A few other observations: -Noise is pernicious and inescapable. Cacophony from the video game arcade saturates the bowling lanes, lobby, and dining areas. Think carefully about how much time you want to spend here, with the understanding that conversation will be difficult at best. If this were a technical work site, industrial hygiene would probably mandate ear protection and time limits. -Bowling is expensive. Yes, the venue has many combo deals and if your group is large enough, the per-person costs MAY be on par with traditional bowling venues at peak hours. But in general, prepare to get fleeced at this joint. Casual customers are fleeced. Returning customers well-acquainted with venue deals stand a better chance of getting value for money. -Be prepared to WAIT. For everything. Wanted to try the ropes course, but there was an hour-long wait. This was despite no obvious line or hold-up on the course, and an estimated completion time of under 10 minutes. Considering the ambient noise, that wait prospect was a non-starter. From the corporate perspective, it's clear that waiting is a feature, not a bug, of the environment: people buy more food and throw money down the drain in the video arcade. read more

Someone remove this corporate stain from our city. After standing in line for 15 minutes we were told that we needed to go to the bar if all we wanted to do was play pool. (A simple sign would mitigate this quite easily: "Here for billiards? Head to the bar") While playing pool ($18 per hour on bar tables and with cues and balls that have seen MUCH better days) I didn't encounter one employee who didn't genuinely seem on the brink of a breakdown of some sort. The idea of being able to come to a single place for all your food, fun, and booze sounds like a good idea on paper. And it very well can be. But not at Main Event. Execution of this idea has fallen flat on its face because unless you've planned a full day of fun here, you're more than likely not going to have any. There are not enough lanes for people to just walk in to bowl and the majority of the time people have already reserved online. We showed up and was told to wait 3 hrs for bowling. Well that's not going to happen considering that we showed up at 7pm and by the time we get a lane, they'll be just about closed. So we skipped the bowling and decided to head to the bar for some drinks and food and maybe play some billiards. The bar tender took about 15mins from the time we sat down to acknowledge us and finally took our orders and about another 15mins to bring us our drinks. The drinks tasted terrible to say the least. I don't blame the bartender for this as this was not a drink she came up with on her own. We ordered 3 drinks that looked wonderful but tasted disgusting. So next comes the billiards. They have 6 tables. 3 of them had "reserved" signs on them. But nobody was there to use them. So we were put on a waiting list. We sat and drank and ate and waited for 45 minutes. Nobody showed up for any of the 3 "reserved" tables. We finally get called for our table and the guy tells me to make sure to bring the balls back in 30 minutes. 30 mins???? I asked him why and he told me that the tables can only be reserved for 30 minutes at a time. After that 30 minutes I would have to come back up and my name be placed at the end of the list to wait again. So we finished playing. I kept the balls for 45 minutes seeing as nobody has come over to get them back yet. The whole entire time I wasn't enjoying myself because I was constantly looking at the clock and also noticing that NOBODY has came for any of the "reserved" tables. They were sitting there..... EMPTY..... UNUSED by customers who are already there at the facility. The whole concept of reservations is nice and had I made one, I'd expect my place in line to be upheld upon my arrival. But there should be rules and a limit. If nobody shows up after 10 or 15 minutes, their place should be forfeited, or the tables opened up for people who are actually there waiting in line wanting to spend money. For the amount of time and money I spent here and to have received the quality of food and services from this establishment, I should have gone to dave and busters. Main Event, round 1, Dave & Busters...these places are all pretty much the same. Super expensive and super packed! The difference with Main Event is that they have kiosks at their tables so you can place your food order without having to wait forever for someone to actually take your order. I had the cob salad which was pretty darn good and it came out really fast, I was actually surprised. The employees are all very friendly, management is obviously doing a good job. They keep the place clean for the most part. We always return to Main Event over the other options for family fun, birthday parties and sports banquets. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. We left disappointed, and feeling like it was a waste of $250.00. To begin with we were told their advertised spring break promo was invalid because they follow Texas spring break and that was last week. When we mentioned it was on the website and did not have a promotional period it was finally honored. When my daughters needed to change a pair of bowling shoes they were ignored by the same staff member as above. When she finally acknowledged them, she proceeded to roll her eyes at them as if they were a nuisance. Bowling was fine except it took speaking with 3 different staff members to fix our lanes when they went down. Finally, my daughter was so excited to try the gravity ropes because the last time she tried she was scared and could not finish the course. When she came down she was visibly upset and the rope to her harness was somehow stuck. She was told by the gentleman removing harnesses to go back up to the top to try again only to be yelled at that she should go back down because the other worker didn't know what he was talking about. She was advised she should wait until everyone else got off and then they would help her. After some time I finally went over and asked why she could not just take the harness off to which they finally allowed at that point. When I asked my daughter what happened and why she was upset she explained that no matter what she did the worker supervising up top kept yelling at her and it just wasn't worth it. They did not yell at the family of 5 that was on 1 beam but they did yell at my daughter consistently even though nobody else was on the beam and it was her turn. The only normal experience was probably the gentleman working the laser tag room. Definitely would not recommend unless you enjoy spending money for staff to be rude to you. read more

I've been in ABQ for 2 years and tonight was the first night I've decided to go to Main Event. I've heard good & bad from family & friends but figured I'd finally check it out for myself. Initially it reminded me of a grown up version of Chuck E Cheese. Extremely loud & talk about sensory overload. We decided to sit at the bar. The bartender/server Brigitte was amazing, she was extremely friendly, informative & attentive to our needs as patrons. We ordered a few drinks & appetizers. Drinks were served immediately & I was impressed that we didn't have to wait considering it was a busy Friday evening. So I ordered a medium rare steak & when it came out everything on the plate looked great. When I cut into the steak it was like hacking into leather. My steak was well done, I seriously hate sending food back because I've watched the movie "Waiting" and I know people can be petty. So I sat there internally debating on saying anything to our bartender. But I also decided if I'm paying for dinner & a good time then I should probably enjoy my meal. So I regretfully showed and explained to Brigit that my steak was well done. She was apologetic & said it would be handled. The cook was standing in the bar area & she walked over to him & explained the situation. She then came back & said it would be taken care of. I was nervous about my upcoming steak because the cook & I did make eye contact & quite honestly he did not look happy with me. Some time passes & Brigit brings out another steak & again apologizes for the mix up. This steak looked like it had been out on the grill & flipped once on each side. I'm all for a bloody steak but this thing was still raw. To the point that it was not browned enough on the outside & only had the sear marks but you could tell just by looking at it that it was still raw. Sure enough when I cut into the steak I think it still moo'd at me because it was so rare. None the less I was disappointed in the pettiness of the cook. I spoke with a manager & showed him the rare steak that was brought out. He apologized & took my plate & said he would fix it. I explained I lost my appetite & didn't want anything else. He ended up bringing our group a platter of chips, queso & salsa as a consolation. Again Brigit was amazing, manager was very nice but that cook was the downfall on my review. Will I go back? And we were told our son's pizza had fallen on the floor with no comment on our food. No drink refills. Then my husband asked where the rest of the food was and she said it was coming. Here we started to play and every game is around 1.50 to turn it on, not which a great deal now. Even a mini rubber duckies are 1.50 to play? At least at Peter piper you play till you win for the kids, need help on something ask any of the staff and you have a 50/50 chance of getting someone that cares. I found the place to be very expensive. The bowling has a lane fee and per person fee which I found outrageous. The laser tag was $7 so not too bad if that's all you did. The food and drinks were really good but not too many choices for vegetarians. And pricey. I would probably in the future go there for just laser tag. My wife and I dropped by for a little fun on a Thursday afternoon. There was hardly anybody there, so we didn't have to wait for anything. The staff was friendly and helpful, and when we found a non-working machine that still took our $$ we were able to get a refund quickly and easily. We didn't do anything other than the arcade games ($1.80 per play, by the way. I seem to remember it being a quarter?), so I can't comment on the bowling alley, laser tag, pool tables, bar, or pizza. The only reason we came here was for the bowling - which never actually happened due to a combination of the unreasonably long wait and the staff's discouraging demeanor. Lesson learned. Well I brought my 9 year old and 7 year old to come and play. I asked how tall you had to be for gravity ropes and the front desk had no clue so well I bought the all day pass, my son because he's barely under 49" cannot go on the gravity ropes which leaves him to do bowling (must have adult), laser tag (ok he can do that) and there is nothing else for him to do. I went into the pizza place to get a drink and was told I need to order it from the bar, of course my kids were with me and I was told you can order but they can't sit here... umm so I can't order from the pizza place but have to order here and my kids can't be with me. And then the one thing my kids could play on was the floor projector and the guys decided to change the settings on it while means a lift thing driven out on the floor, so my son had to stop playing whole we waited for him to finish. They need MANY more thing later for younger/smaller kids to do! I feel this was a complete waste of $40. I'll go anywhere else. read more

I recently went to Main Event with my sister and a couple of friends to play laser tag and we were treated very poorly by the staff. Right off the bat the employee at the front desk was rude to me for misunderstanding the cost of a laser tag pass. Her tone was snappy and condescending telling me "that's not the way it works" after I asked for a wrist band to play laser tag for an hour. She treated me as if I was stupid for not knowing the process to getting to play laser tag. I had never been before and I wouldn't like to go back because after that we continued to deal with unfriendly staff members. One of the employees in the pizza restaurant even commented on my friends makeup saying that it looked weird right to her face. This was my first time going to Main Event, and I will admit that when I first walked in I was extremely impressed! It is a HUGE establishment filled with bowling, laser tag, pool, shuffle board, arcade games, ropes courses, and of course food and drinks. In having such a big establishment, I found myself confused as to what employees I needed to talk to in order to schedule our night of fun. We asked our waitress for help but she responded that she didn't know anything about that department. Worst experience ever I bought tickets and signed up for lazed tag and they didn't even let me in I payed $50+ dollars and they wouldn't let me in because I was "getting high" I have my medical cannabis card and to be "kicked out" and not even get to experience main event for the first time was such a vibe kill. Not bad place to hang out with the kids or have a date night. On Mondays it's $10.95 per person and you can do unlimited arcade or unlimited activities (bowling, pool, shuffle board, and laser tag). The bathrooms are pretty clean. They don't have any drink specials--ever--but the prices are pretty decent. I think this will be a normal hang out for me, the kids, and the hubby during the summer. read more

So I Nvr complain or bitch bout service ever ... but this just pisses me the F off and can't hold my tung... here at Main event been here over a f*cking hr waiting on our damn appetizer and our food... mean wile every other fu$king table already served when they came in at least 20+ min after we did. This is a 1 star review that gets 2 because I was an idiot to come here the night after Christmas during a Cowboys game. 2 hour wait for the bar...ok 3 hour wait for bowling...annoying but alright 2 hour wait for Laser Tag...sigh Frankly, none of this should be a surprise as packed as the parking lot was. The disappointing thing is that there was no mention about the wait times during the conversation about how one of the kids in our party was too short to do the Gravity Ropes but at least she can bowl until 2 am. Ok, I just waited 25 minutes for a single slice of cheese pizza and was given a pepperoni slice and told to pick it off. There goes the 2nd star. read more
