After so many years it's still the most authentic Taiwanese style stir-fried dishes. The restaurant has many decorations that represents the history of Taiwan. The waiters and staff are also friendly and nice.

The food is still good but we came here and tipped them and the servers were like no you need to tip more. Mind you we gave them about 15% and they demanded more. I've worked in the service industry myself and I've never asked for more tip to a customer

Great Taiwanese cuisine for a very good price but also on a smaller portion scale! - fly head 4/5: def on the bland side of fly heads but still not bad when paired with rice - braised ribs 5/5: meat fell right off the bone, it was juicy, tender, everything you would want in ribs!! Highly reco - 3 cup chicken 4/5: this was decent, saltier side of the spectrum but had better We also got cabbage on the house!! That was not expected and exactly what were missing. Thank you for the delicious cabbage :) Tip: I also hope the owners change the bar hand soap to liquid soap for sanitary purposes :/

I recently went here again with my boyfriend who recommended we go here again for Taiwanese food since he's been going here since he was a kid. And honestly, I forgot how good it is! Truly your hole in the wall restaurant that you want to keep running back to. Once you walk in, you notice that most people in the restaurant, including the customers, are speaking Chinese so you know that's a good sign. This is honestly the best Taiwanese food I have had so far at a restaurant in the East Coast! It is so tough trying to find an authentic Taiwanese restaurant that has no frills, just great food and quick service. Something about the cabbage that comes with the table is just so addicting, and that alone was one of our favorite dishes. We also ordered the oyster pancake (one of my favorite dishes), shredded pork and bamboo, leek and cuttlefish, stir-fried rice cake, and another tofu dish I forgot the name of. Bring cash since it's cash only!

Home cooked taste This place is popping and for good reason. They deliver the taste of home at an affordable price. We ordered and the food came out FAST. The waitress even admitted that they are very fast. Need to be efficient. As a result the dishes were pipping hot. They got all the classics. No crazy flair, just simple good food. Tender meat and fresh veggies. My only qualm is that they didn't have fresh fish from the tank, but not a necessity I guess PSA: don't forget to make a reservation as this place can get pretty crowded

Restaurants like this, are just so hard to find nowadays. Authentic, homestyle real Taiwanese dishes, from classic and traditional to something for every palate, even the new. Prices are unheard of for their quality and portions. We can eat a real meal with multiple dishes (and leftovers to take home to boot!) for $40-$50 and that is a deal in these times. Cash only but that's perfectly fine with us. Old school vibes, great food, sweet ladies who serve you like family - we absolutely love it all. If only they would open up shop early and start serving some Taiwanese breakfast! That would be the dream! Try anything - it's all very very good.

I have visited the restaurant in 2018, back in the time when I haven't settled to live in NYC yet. The door front, store settings and atmosphere just reminded me of local food stalls in a taiwanese neighborhood. After all these years, I still feel the warm hospitality from the waitresses, bringing the friendliness of taiwanese to all guests. - Minced Pork on Rice 滷肉飯 - Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 - Chef Special Crispy Pork Chop 林師傅排骨 - Shredded Pork w/ Diced Bean Curd 香乾肉絲 - Intestine w/ Sour Mustard 酸菜大腸 - Clams w/ Black Beans 炒蛤蜊 - Cuttlefish w/ Chive 韭菜花枝 - Chinese Cabbage 高麗菜 - A Choy A菜 The dishes were stunningly delicious, yet sometimes it tasted slightly too salty, such as the shredded pork. Both Three Cup Chicken and Crispy Pork Chop were excellent in taste, the meat was tender and well sauced. While for vegetables, the Chinese cabbage were sweeter and softer than A Choy. The price surprisingly doesn't raise considerably, but of course comparing to the portion size 4 years ago, the dishes become a bit fewer. As long as they could maintain the food quality, the size doesn't really bother me. If you are craving for outstanding authentic taiwanese food in NYC, this is certainly a place you shouldn't miss. My Recommendations: Minced Pork on Rice, Three Cup Chicken, Shredded Pork w/ Diced Bean Curd Worth Returning ? YES

Love this small mom and Pop Taiwanese eatery. All dishes are authentic and the owners are so kind. I have nothing but high praise. A must visit!!!!

Cash only y'all! This place has been around for many years and has had the quality and taste consistent throughout. My boyfriend is a huge fan of their stir fried pork intestine dish. I have no idea what it's called in English, but please reference the photo attached! It's tender and tastes delicious. Best part? I've never got a whiff of the poopy, dirty taste that comes with unclean intestine. My favorite dish is the pork and tofu stir fry. Their tofu here is super soft, and the pork doesn't taste too meaty. Lastly, the fly's head is good too. It has a lot of peppers, though, so be careful. I'll ask for it not spicy going forward because I actually choked on the peppers for 10 minutes. Biting into one of the peppers resulted in the spiciest experience I had all year, so that's really how low my tolerance is. The dish is not that spicy tbh. Come here and spend your cash! The old ladies are really nice too!

Kidney w. ginger and scallion (4.5/5) - $11.95 The kidney w. Ginger Scallion was very good. It was firm and tender without a strong organ smell or taste. Bitter Melon w. Salty Egg (4.5/5) - $11.95 Bitter Melon w. Salty Egg was surprisingly very good. The bitter melon wasn't bitter at all. Wished the dish was a little bit saltier. Minced Pork, Black Bean w. Leak (5/5) - $12.95 The Minced Pork, Black Bean with Leek was delicious. I highly recommend this dish. The minced pork they used was the fatty portion of the pork. It is very favored and the leek has a very nice crunch to the dish. It goes very well with rice. The dish is pretty spicy. If you can handle spice I would highly recommend this dish. Crispy Seasoned Chicken (4.5/5) - $11.95 The crispy Seasoned Chicken was very tender and well seasoned. Tasted like popcorn chicken Extra They gave marinated cabbage which was very seasoned. The interior is a bit old-fashioned and small but the service was very friendly. For the pricing, I would say it's definitely worth the price. The food came rather quickly.

I wish i could order and eat everything on this menu!! My primary interest was the intestine noodles (mian xian) and it definitely hit the spot! The oyster omelette was also quite good and the oysters were a boisterous healthy size. A surprise highlight of the meal was the watercress - I don't know what it is but cooking it at home just doesn't taste the same. The lu rou fan was a decent appetizer size and also delicious. Can't wait to go back and make my way down the menu!

This place is supposed to be an authentic Taiwanese restaurant, After all, it was recommended in the Michelin Guide in 2017 and earlier. But I was disappointed when we tasted the food after we got them home. We didn't order anything fancy, just few simple everyday dishes like tofu, chicken, pork, noodles, and some vegetable dishes. I have to say I find almost all of the food we tried lack any flavor. Maybe back in 2017, the food was excellent. But I don't know what happened since because I don't see how the dishes we had could ever be recommended in the Michelin Guide. Perhaps they had a different head chef or something else must have happened.

My eyes lit up when I saw the menu. The owners are from Tainan, Taiwan which is often consider the culinary capital of Taiwan with many iconic traditional dishes and flavors. The restaurant is spacious but it does not have many table seatings (3-5 tables?). When we came it wasn't busy so we got a spot but we did see many people coming in for their takeout orders. The oldies they play at the restaurant take me back to my childhood. The place is structured very interestingly where it's an open kitchen so you can actually easily see how they prep the food in the back. We ordered: - oyster omelette pancake - mung wort kueh (4 pieces) - danzai noodle - mixed spice platter The oyster omelette was the highlight! The bottom is crispy and they use a generous amount of oysters. It's the most authentic oyster pancake I've had in the east coast. Alot of other "Taiwanese spots" don't make it correctly. I also love the mung wort kueh (hard to find places that sell this) - it's a fun snack to take to go. It's a savory mochi bun with shredded radish as the main ingredient. The danzai noodle is an iconic dish from Tainan. Its main star consists of the one shrimp and the marinated ground braised pork. Although I would prefer the dry version but they serve the soup version here. The broth tastes very clear and clean, doesn't feel like it's dosed with salt and MSG. We got the mixed platter - an iconic street food in Tainan is 滷味 (Lou Wei) which is consist of different ingredients tossed and braised in a soy-based spice sauce. They have a nice selection of Lou Wei options and the platter we got had pork belly, duck neck, tofu skin, and lotus roots. The spicy duck neck can be intimidating for those that have never had it but it is fun to eat. There are so many items on there that I can't wait to try. For first timer, definitely get the oyster pancake and Luroufan! I can't wait to come back and try more of the traditional Taiwanese dishes. They also have frozen dumplings that you can buy to go. 50 pieces for $28-$30 is a pretty good price!

Of course, we expect the school to choose only the highest quality restaurants to order delivery from, and yes, it was quite good, considering that it was delivery that was lugged all the way from Flushing and ultimately had to be reheated in the microwave. Come this past weekend, we decided to plan a whole day trip to Flushing to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park and eat some good Taiwanese and Chinese food. We search Yelp and we come across this place, OK Ryan. The restaurant is small and cozy, but packed a big bite. We had Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop lunchbox, Oyster Pancake, Pork Intestine Vermicelli, Taiwanese Sausage, and Golden Red Bean Pancake. Everything authentic and delicious. Oyster Pancake was probably the best I've had for a very long time - it was filled with oysters, not too doughy, not too saucy. Beef noodle soup had excellent depth of flavor and the meat was tender and delicious. We ordered way too much food and took a bunch of it home. Found out that the restaurant was cash or Venmo only. So I take out my phone and Venmo the bill. But wait, my Venmo app did not register OK Ryan as a new restaurant. In fact, it said I had paid this restaurant several... times.... before. Cue the freak out. Who hacked my Venmo account to buy Taiwanese food?? OK, so obviously, OK Ryan and OK Canaan are one and the same. Good for delivery, but now we know, much better in person. We'll try the real OK Canaan next time.

I love love love the classic Taiwanese dishes that were on the menu here. I couldn't help myself but to order to my stomachs content. Of course, the stinky tofu! Not as stinky as I'd like (IYKYK). But the flavor of the sauce with the hot sauce that it comes with matches perfectly. I also ordered a trio appetizer of braised intestines, pig foot and tofu. They were all delicious! Nicely warm and all melts in your mouth. Good flavor! Pairs well with rice. My main was the chicken set. Delicious! And I love how they did the chicken 2 ways. Whenever I come across Taiwanese beef noodle soup, I usually have to try it. Overall, it was pretty good, the broth was tasty and the meat was tender. They offer both beef and beef tendon noodle soup, which I always appreciate since not every place does. However, when my mother requested just beef tendon due to dental issues, we were told it couldn't be accommodated because the meat is pre-portioned. That was a bit surprising for such a small establishment, as I would have assumed it was ladled from a larger pot like many similar places. I ended up ordering the same bowl and giving my mom all the tendon while I kept the meat although I'll admit I would have preferred to keep the tendon for myself. My cousin ordered the spicy beef noodle soup, which she really enjoyed. I tried a taste as well, but it wasn't really my preference. The spice had more of a Sichuan-style profile, leaning toward that mala flavor that I don't personally enjoy. Aside from that, the soup was enjoyable, though not the best I've had, but certainly nowhere near the worst either. We also ordered stinky tofu, which unfortunately didn't have quite enough soy sauce (I could have asked for more, but didn't bother) and ended up tasting a bit under-seasoned. It also wasn't as pungent as one would hope. Service was minimal, with one server who I believe may also have been the owner. While everything came out correctly, there wasn't much flexibility with requests, which made the experience feel a bit rigid. Prices were also on the higher side for a small, off-the-beaten-path spot. Overall, it was a decent meal with some good flavors, but a few inconsistencies kept it from being a standout.

We walked into a compact, no frills space with a casual grab and go feel that fits the type of food being served. The shop keeps things simple, but the concept works well for a quick and filling meal, especially when you want something affordable that still has plenty of flavor packed into a portable format. The rice rolls are the main reason to come here. The purple sticky rice gives each roll a slightly chewy texture and makes it feel more substantial than a typical grab and go snack. Inside, the fillings create a good mix of textures with savory ingredients, vegetables, and sauces packed into each bite. We tried the eel rice roll, which stood out as one of the stronger options. The eel added a richer flavor that paired well with the rice and seaweed, and adding spicy mayo gave it an extra layer of flavor without overpowering the rest of the roll. The combination of the soft, chewy rice and the variety of fillings made each bite feel balanced and satisfying. What makes fan tuan enjoyable is how balanced it feels as a meal. It is compact, easy to eat, and surprisingly filling for the size. There are plenty of filling combinations to choose from, including meat, seafood, and more traditional options, so it is easy to find something depending on what you are craving. The portions are generous enough that a single roll can serve as a full meal, and the pricing makes it an easy choice for a quick lunch or dinner. Service is straightforward and the focus is really on getting the rice rolls prepared quickly. The staff moves efficiently, and the order turnaround is fast, which fits the grab and go format well. There is limited seating, so the experience is best suited for takeout or a quick stop rather than a long sit down meal. Nuan Xin Rice Roll is a great option for a simple but satisfying meal. The purple rice, generous fillings, and variety of combinations make it stand out from typical quick bites, and it is worth checking out if you enjoy onigiri, kimbap, or Taiwanese street food. It delivers exactly what the format promises: a compact, flavorful, and filling meal that feels more thoughtful than your average grab and go option.
