I've finally found my favorite Taiwanese restaurant in the east coast. This spot is the spot to try if you want real authentic Taiwanese food with extensive menu items. My eyes lit up when I saw the menu. The owners are from Tainan, Taiwan which is often consider the culinary capital of Taiwan with many iconic traditional dishes and flavors. The restaurant is spacious but it does not have many table seatings (3-5 tables?). When we came it wasn't busy so we got a spot but we did see many people coming in for their takeout orders. The oldies they play at the restaurant take me back to my childhood. The place is structured very interestingly where it's an open kitchen so you can actually easily see how they prep the food in the back. We ordered: - oyster omelette pancake - mung wort kueh (4 pieces) - danzai noodle - mixed spice platter The oyster omelette was the highlight! The bottom is crispy and they use a generous amount of oysters. It's the most authentic oyster pancake I've had in the east coast. Alot of other "Taiwanese spots" don't make it correctly. I also love the mung wort kueh (hard to find places that sell this) - it's a fun snack to take to go. It's a savory mochi bun with shredded radish as the main ingredient. The danzai noodle is an iconic dish from Tainan. Its main star consists of the one shrimp and the marinated ground braised pork. Although I would prefer the dry version but they serve the soup version here. The broth tastes very clear and clean, doesn't feel like it's dosed with salt and MSG. We got the mixed platter - an iconic street food in Tainan is 滷味 (Lou Wei) which is consist of different ingredients tossed and braised in a soy-based spice sauce. They have a nice selection of Lou Wei options and the platter we got had pork belly, duck neck, tofu skin, and lotus roots. The spicy duck neck can be intimidating for those that have never had it but it is fun to eat. There are so many items on there that I can't wait to try. For first timer, definitely get the oyster pancake and Luroufan! I can't wait to come back and try more of the traditional Taiwanese dishes. They also have frozen dumplings that you can buy to go. 50 pieces for $28-$30 is a pretty good price! read more

A cute Taiwanese spot in the neighborhood with street parking available. The beef noodle soup was good, could use a little more flavor but the beef was so tender and melted in my mouth. Sausage fried rice was flavorful but it had so many onions and very minimal sausage so be prepared for your breath to kick. Scallion oil noodle was bland and a bit soupy on the bottom of the bowl, would pass on this. The eggs can be passed on as well, for 4 halves for $4 as a combo with a braised tofu skin that was $5 and had a nice flavor. Service was quick. read more

I want to really like this place since I heard about it from a friend more than a year ago. But seeing how it's so far where my location (35 min drive), eating take out is just not the same as trying it hot at location. This place is small with two 4 person table and a 2 seater. I don't know if I will ever eat here in person to really taste the food in all its glory, vs slightly soggy 35 minutes later. The beef noodle soup - the beef is super tender and melts in your mouth. Found this little gem. When I say little, it's small inside. 3 tables max. I did go in and was able to sit down. This is your definition of a mom and pop store. Friendly grandma and grandpa who took care of me when I walked in. Got the following: Pork chop over rice (4/5) - very tasty and super fresh chop. It was on the smaller side of a typical pork chop over rice order but you'd be full from just this. The meat sauce over rice was not minced. You'll see small pieces of the pork belly, it's that type of style meat sauce. Delicious nonetheless. Traditional stinky tofu (5/5) - came out piping and stinky! Very good! Can't go wrong with this dish. I said traditional because they also have another version which is the black stinky tofu, which is not your traditional Taiwan version. I'll try that next time. Braised intestine (5/5) - perfect portion for 1. It came out thinly sliced, tender and a slight chew. Great taste and I love eating it with rice. The side sauce it comes with is a tad sweet. You can skip that. Service was great and intimate. No photos because I devoured it all and didn't think I would write a review but it deserves one ! Check this place out if you haven't ! Another visit 12/2024: Black stinky tofu: 4/5 - taste great but I think the original is better! Braised pork: 5/5 - delicious! Thinly sliced and when it's slightly warm, melts in your mouth. Cold December days require hot soup. I had a hankering for Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup and needed to be in Flushing but did NOT want to deal with parking. Thank to Yelp!! I discovered this AMAZING spot a couple of blocks away from the hospital. I was blown away. This is a small spot on the corner but I was lucky to find an open table. This is now my gold standard for this luscious soup. The braised shin meat was tender and juicy. The noodles were obviously homemade and had the perfect amount of chew. The broth??? Truly exceptional. Deeply flavored and unctuous with tons of bone broth collagen. What a great find. Sharing is caring. Was craving Duck (Blood) Noodles after having it in Taiwan. I ordered delivery, so can't judge on the service. The duck was a bit on the dry side, but the soup was very flavorful! I let the duck blood soak in the soup to rehydrate. They give a perfect amount of toppings and noodles. Would like to try it in the restaurant to see see if it's less dry when made fresh. I did add a bit of homemade spicy oil to give it a kick and boost the flavor even more. The Taiwanese Sausage is generously sized and delicious. Worth getting for sure! Found this place on Eater and came here with my mom for lunch. A hole in the wall that does mostly takeout but has 3 tables inside. We ordered the glutinous rice, the roast duck, the stinky tofu, beef noodle soup, and the cold appetizer platter. Everything was delicious. The beef noodle soup was fragrant and flavorful, the stinky tofu had a great sauce, cold appetizer traditional as always. We had a great experience here with our food. I ordered a beef noodle soup and a Luroufan for delivery. The beef noodle soup didn't have much flavor, except for sweet. The four pieces of beef that they served was sliced so thin it was sad, and not even tender. I also requested extra sour mustard, which they didn't give. That was very upsetting. The Luroufan was mediocre as it ate oily. There was plenty of meat, but the flavor wasn't that good and it was definitely missing the sour mustard. The Yelp rating is high and their food photos look really good so I would try them again if I'm in the area. So crunchy. So goooooooood. It's really, really good. Then I have their 滷肉飯 ，滷肉麵，and 肉羹麵。allllll soooo good. Pop corn chicken was Authentic too. Sausage was good but they left out 大腸包小腸 and by the time I called them they were already closed, but I bet it would have been good too. Must come try this place. Authentic Taiwanese food. Always fresh, hot, and delicious. Impressed with the hometown taste here. We've never visited the store in person, only did delivery. The dumplings here are solid. I also like their braised pork noodles. The owner cares about his customers and goes above and beyond to make things right. We had one delivery where the soup to the beef noodle was left at the store. Initially, the front desk apologized and offered to credit back my delivery app account for the missed item, which I was ok with. Later, the owner personally called me back and apologized for this error, and how the front desk lady initially handled my call. He offered to send someone to deliver the soup right away. As it was a rainy day and he was initially unable to locate a delivery man, he was going to deliver it himself. Instead of referring to the delivery app to resolve the situation, he took action right away. This shows how much he cares about his food and his customer. This isn't take-out american chinese portions - Taiwanese food is typically more smaller-plate eats so, all about understanding and knowing that. The braised pork belly, taiwanese sausage, pork chop are our faves. Please also note - some of the menu items don't match up to their photos on food apps, so read the name and description closely. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was mediocre at best and not so cheap. I liked the Luroufan and I think their egg is better than the pork. Pork is missing something...maybe the fried onion? The other items were ok. Best item in the braised mix was the duck neck in my opinion. Lotus root is cooked for too long or just not seasoned enough. I didn't like the fried pork roll at all. It has too much starch, just like their fish dumpling. Located in a fairly residential area, this establishment is about 15 minute drive from Flushing Proper. It's also not a sit-down restaurant as it only has 2 tables, definitely more of a grab-n-go place. We did manage to order a few dishes to try on site, during which several Taiwanese patrons made the trek to place takeout orders. Tons of sausages were being hand made on the premises and the fridge had quarts upon quarts of frozen soups. I saw two generations of owners, the elder ones looked like tbey could've spent decades manning stalls at night markets in Taiwan. According to the owners, they are from Tainan and there are definitely a couple of items representative of that region, but thankfully the sweetness has been toned down a little bit. They used to operate a stall in front of another restaurant in Flushing, though I don't quite remember them previously. Food here is definitely a step up above the Taiwanese stalls at food courts, with about the same variety depending on what you are looking for. I'd say you can even conjure up a better meal compared to sit down restaurants if you like their particular offerings and don't mind taking out. The frozen dumplings are quite good, better and cheaper than White Bear. I gave all the other takeout orders to my parents and they haven't called to scold me for wasting money, which I take as an endorsement. read more

Usually the food is good but the lady who works there who charged me 9 extra dollars for using my credit card is unheard of. I understand that you have to charge a bit more for using card but for a 40 dollar total, your going to charge me 9 extra dollars? That's ridiculous and I felt like I got robbed.
