Chicken steak w black pepper sauce
    Katrina C.

Used to have the sizzling steak dish all the time when I was young at Flushing Mall Such nostalgia I tell ya! Tucked away in the heart of Queens' bustling Taiwanese enclave, this spot is a hidden gem that punches way above its weight in taste and value. In fact, it was so hidden, we almost couldn't find the place! Got the sizzling sirloin steak with mushroom sauce as well as the sizzling chicken steak with black pepper sauce. Go with the black pepper sauce. It is much better. They charge a $10 deposit fee on your receipt which will be returned to you after you are finished and return their trays to them. Keeps folks honest and prevents sticky fingers from walking out with their iron hot plates. Prices are really reasonable for steak. There was also a lot of other interesting stuff on the menu that I can't wait to try next time. If you are in Flushing and you're craving authentic Taiwanese flavors that transport you straight to Taipei, look no further than 8090 Taiwanese Cuisine

Love this Taiwanese stall in the smaller food court in Flushing. I always get the dry noodles bc to me it's so flavorful and reminds me of Taiwan. I also got their stinky tofu which is good also. Cash only. Service is pretty fast. Ambiance is the food court.

Service: 3.9/5 Food: 4.8/5 Price: $ (under $20) Inside the kind of hard to find New York Food Court (unassuming door + as far as I know, no real signage). 8090 is still the last stall on the left before entering the greater seating area. Kind of an overwhelming menu as with most places in this food court. I think they speak broken English, mostly Mandarin. Tips: cash only, don't wear white, there's a $5 charge you get back for sizzling plates *What I Recommend What I Ordered: - Pork Chop Steak*: large portion mostly in my ideal ratio (1/2 protein, 1/4 carbs, 1/4 veggies), very tender, small bed of noodles + onions + over medium egg - Black Pepper sauce: indeed v peppery - Included Salad: extremely simple, Thousand Island dressing too mayo-y - Included Tea: oolong? refreshing for the entrée, would have liked a non-caffeine option for dinner

This Taiwanese cuisine stall is located within Flushing NY Food Court (far corner to the left from the main entrance); Wanted to try their sizzling steak plates and was not disappointed. Got the Steak Sizzling plate with Spaghetti Mushroom sauce ($27 with added $5 deposit for the plate). The wait for my order was within ten minutes, and the kitchen staff calls my number to pick up my food. The Sizzling plate comes piping hot and looks so yummy. The dish overall tasted good (loved the runny egg), though I really wish my beef steak would be a little more tender- the mushroom sauce sealed the deal and put a delicious touch to the sizzling dish. I returned my plate back to the food stall and got my deposit back

They have the best Taiwanese Steak Dinner for $27!! It comes with noodles, broccoli, corn, egg, side salad & a cold cup of tea!! They take Zelle in case if you don't have cash on you! If you Zelle, there's no $5 deposit to return the hot plate!!! Delicious everytime!!! Thanks!!

Located inside New York Food Court, this is perhaps where you find the best Taiwanese steak in Flushing. It's also the loudest, the smokiest, the steamiest, and the most sizzling-est - perfect for that intense sizzle video haha. The Taiwanese style steak here is served on a hot cast iron platter and topped with broccoli, corn, an egg, and noodles. For sauces, there are 2 choices: black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce - we opted for the black pepper sauce. The $26 dish also comes with a side of salad with some mayo on top and a refreshing herbal drink. Once you finish, don't forget to return your skillet and silverware to get your $5 deposit back! 8090 Taiwan Cuisine (133-35 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354) Open daily 11am-8:30pm What we ordered: $26 Taiwanese style steak

They have great service and all the food is delicious. This time I had the Taiwanese steak with mushroom gravy and it was out of this the world.

8090 台湾小吃 is located inside the New York Food Court. I don't usually eat at places with 3.5 stars on Yelp, but this was my second time ordering their Salt & Pepper Chicken. Today, I decided to stop by during my lunch break. I waited less than 20 minutes for my order to be ready. Finally, the cashier called out my #36. Appetizers 小吃類 #18 Salt & Pepper Chicken (no white rice) - I have been on a healthy journey for four months and cut out white rice from my diet. Mmm, the Salt & Pepper Chicken was delicious and bite-sized! I wasn't a fan of the dipping sauce. Bookmark this spot to try!

Ate here today by myself on a cold Sunday morning. I had brought, tried and ate the Taiwanese style steak that it tasted superb and juicy as well as sizzling hot. The service there was also attentive and very fast. I couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

I didn't realize there was a separate food court other than New World Mall, but I'm so glad I did. It is your traditional Chinese food court where food items are cheap, people are casually sitting, and this can be a whole vibe if you don't want to be intimidated. I got the Taiwanese style steak and I loved the sauce because it was so umami and it reminded me of xo sauce. It paired so well with the noodles. Considering how sizzling the plate was, I'm surprised the steak and noodles didn't overcook. It was medium well and coming from a medium rare girl, this was yummy! I loved the eggs as well, reminding me of Asian steak & eggs.

    12. Premium Beef on Rice in real life

Don't come if you are looking for authentic Taiwanese food. What you see in the picture is not what you get. The ingredients are similar but the cooking recipe is nowhere near Taiwan.

Deeelicious! I've been regularly coming here for about five years now Located inside of the New York Food Court by downtown Flushing, I come here strictly for this restaurant. It's like the only spot where they serve Taiwanese style sizzling steak. I swear I could eat this every day, but I'm sure the sodium would for sure send me to an early grave, lol. Just saying, the steak and chicken are delicious with that black pepper sauce. Reminds me of Taiwan. The steak is $25, and Chicken Steka is $22. Pre covid, I believe the steak was only $20. But hey, everything is more expensive nowadays, right? They also have other dishes, although I have yet to try. I have seen other customers order it, and they seem to be tasty looking. So, bottom line, if you want that Taiwanese black pepper sauce sizzling steak, this is the spot to be at. Plus, where else are you going to get a decent steak for only $25 bucks no tax nowadays. It also comes with a cup of sweet tea and salad. PS: They charge a $5 deposit which will be returned to you when you bring their tray back.

For a quickie dinner option in Flushing it's hard to beat 8090 Taiwanese in the New York Food Court. I'm still trying to figure out the significance of the number 8090 because numbers are a big deal in Chinese culture. The popularity of 8090 though is undeniable as there is always a line here, compared to most of the other food stalls. Maybe it's the sights, sounds and smells of sizzling steaks & pork chops, frying chicken & seafoods that is the attraction. The menu is pretty substantial and you might have a hard time deciding what to get, but we went with the more popular items. All the prices (rounded to the nearest quarter) are WYSIWYP in cash only (no sales tax added). It's no frills with your food served on a tray, cafeteria style. You do have to wait for them to call your order number because your food is made fresh to order. Grab a table anywhere in the food court area and enjoy your food. The meat dish meals come on a sizzling cast iron platter, intensely bubbling & smoking on a bed of noodles, raw egg (soon to be cooked) and topped with corn niblets, a floret of broccoli and your choice of a tomato based mushroom or black pepper sauce. The Taiwanese Steak ($25) and Pork Chop ($17) were our choices. Both come boneless and can be a little messy if you're sharing. When you eat in, I'm glad they give you real stainless steel silverware because plastic utensils would have melted and you can't cut a steak with chopsticks. I correct what I said about no frills because the meals come with a cup of salad (w/ mayo based dressing & tomato wedge) and an iced jasmine tea to round out your meal. For me, rounding out a meal means ordering more food, so we got sides of the Salt & Pepper Fried Squid and a Fried Chicken Leg Quarter. The squid came with a sweet mustardy dipping sauce, but it stands on its own. It also comes with these wood spears, perfect for snacking while walking. The chicken leg was chopped up for easier consumption or sharing, served over a bed of lettuce and was topped with ginger/scallion sauce, which goes great with chicken. Maybe I should have ordered that over rice. Overall it was a pretty good experience for an affordable meal with no tipping required and you have to bus your own table. Don't forget to return your cast iron platters and silverware to the counter for the $5 deposit (each). I wouldn't be surprised if people throw them in the trash, thinking they're disposable or take them home.

What we ordered: - Pork Chop combo - Popcorn Chicken combo Both of our meals came with rice, stir fry veggies, and an eggs. We both enjoyed our meals, nothing special but just a decent meal as a good price. The veggies somehow were the highlight of our dish. Yum! It was a good size so we were full after finishing just one portion and took the rest home. We had two servers. The man was very friendly and helpful. Of course, we expect the school to choose only the highest quality restaurants to order delivery from, and yes, it was quite good, considering that it was delivery that was lugged all the way from Flushing and ultimately had to be reheated in the microwave. Come this past weekend, we decided to plan a whole day trip to Flushing to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park and eat some good Taiwanese and Chinese food. We search Yelp and we come across this place, OK Ryan. The restaurant is small and cozy, but packed a big bite. We had Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop lunchbox, Oyster Pancake, Pork Intestine Vermicelli, Taiwanese Sausage, and Golden Red Bean Pancake. Everything authentic and delicious. Oyster Pancake was probably the best I've had for a very long time - it was filled with oysters, not too doughy, not too saucy. Beef noodle soup had excellent depth of flavor and the meat was tender and delicious. We ordered way too much food and took a bunch of it home. Found out that the restaurant was cash or Venmo only. So I take out my phone and Venmo the bill. But wait, my Venmo app did not register OK Ryan as a new restaurant. In fact, it said I had paid this restaurant several... times.... before. Cue the freak out. Who hacked my Venmo account to buy Taiwanese food?? OK, so obviously, OK Ryan and OK Canaan are one and the same. Good for delivery, but now we know, much better in person. We'll try the real OK Canaan next time.

Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

We walked into a compact, no frills space with a casual grab and go feel that fits the type of food being served. The shop keeps things simple, but the concept works well for a quick and filling meal, especially when you want something affordable that still has plenty of flavor packed into a portable format. The rice rolls are the main reason to come here. The purple sticky rice gives each roll a slightly chewy texture and makes it feel more substantial than a typical grab and go snack. Inside, the fillings create a good mix of textures with savory ingredients, vegetables, and sauces packed into each bite. We tried the eel rice roll, which stood out as one of the stronger options. The eel added a richer flavor that paired well with the rice and seaweed, and adding spicy mayo gave it an extra layer of flavor without overpowering the rest of the roll. The combination of the soft, chewy rice and the variety of fillings made each bite feel balanced and satisfying. What makes fan tuan enjoyable is how balanced it feels as a meal. It is compact, easy to eat, and surprisingly filling for the size. There are plenty of filling combinations to choose from, including meat, seafood, and more traditional options, so it is easy to find something depending on what you are craving. The portions are generous enough that a single roll can serve as a full meal, and the pricing makes it an easy choice for a quick lunch or dinner. Service is straightforward and the focus is really on getting the rice rolls prepared quickly. The staff moves efficiently, and the order turnaround is fast, which fits the grab and go format well. There is limited seating, so the experience is best suited for takeout or a quick stop rather than a long sit down meal. Nuan Xin Rice Roll is a great option for a simple but satisfying meal. The purple rice, generous fillings, and variety of combinations make it stand out from typical quick bites, and it is worth checking out if you enjoy onigiri, kimbap, or Taiwanese street food. It delivers exactly what the format promises: a compact, flavorful, and filling meal that feels more thoughtful than your average grab and go option.

My eyes lit up when I saw the menu. The owners are from Tainan, Taiwan which is often consider the culinary capital of Taiwan with many iconic traditional dishes and flavors. The restaurant is spacious but it does not have many table seatings (3-5 tables?). When we came it wasn't busy so we got a spot but we did see many people coming in for their takeout orders. The oldies they play at the restaurant take me back to my childhood. The place is structured very interestingly where it's an open kitchen so you can actually easily see how they prep the food in the back. We ordered: - oyster omelette pancake - mung wort kueh (4 pieces) - danzai noodle - mixed spice platter The oyster omelette was the highlight! The bottom is crispy and they use a generous amount of oysters. It's the most authentic oyster pancake I've had in the east coast. Alot of other "Taiwanese spots" don't make it correctly. I also love the mung wort kueh (hard to find places that sell this) - it's a fun snack to take to go. It's a savory mochi bun with shredded radish as the main ingredient. The danzai noodle is an iconic dish from Tainan. Its main star consists of the one shrimp and the marinated ground braised pork. Although I would prefer the dry version but they serve the soup version here. The broth tastes very clear and clean, doesn't feel like it's dosed with salt and MSG. We got the mixed platter - an iconic street food in Tainan is 滷味 (Lou Wei) which is consist of different ingredients tossed and braised in a soy-based spice sauce. They have a nice selection of Lou Wei options and the platter we got had pork belly, duck neck, tofu skin, and lotus roots. The spicy duck neck can be intimidating for those that have never had it but it is fun to eat. There are so many items on there that I can't wait to try. For first timer, definitely get the oyster pancake and Luroufan! I can't wait to come back and try more of the traditional Taiwanese dishes. They also have frozen dumplings that you can buy to go. 50 pieces for $28-$30 is a pretty good price!
