We had dinner reservations here the night before our big meeting to get us ready for the big day. We all partook in some cocktails because restaurants like this one ha the best cocktail menu. I ordered a gin based cocktail that sounded delicious and it was just that, delicious. We ordered the mussels and the cheese flan as our appetizers and were eager to get our main dishes. The table ordered steak, seafood stew, the pork and the fish for dinner. My seafood stew was absolutely amazing. The flavor was perfect and the cook was stunning. I visited twice, first for a 12 people birthday dinner and a 3 person happy hour. Both times, everything was impeccable except the experience with the general manager that left a sour taste in my group's mouth. I felt very uncomfortable and disrespected as a customer. During my first experience, one of my party's food did not arrive. We noticed the table behind us (who arrived after us) received her same dish. Instead of an apology, the GM made our friend look like it was her mistake, and our friend was left to wait another 10 mins for her main dish to be made. It was a birthday gathering, so we did not make a scene. Second time I was at the happy hour, the same GM slammed the check down and we felt chastised and dismissed to leave. I felt so disrespected, and so disconnected with the experience. It was genuinely beautiful place and a lovely ambiance. Overall, the Maison Margaux staff was attentive but the general manager's treatment of customers needs a close looking at. It is a shame that 2 strikes happened because of the same GM. The decor is airy, light and welcoming. From gorgeous upholstered chairs to an amazing downstairs space, the whole restaurant is insta worthy. Service: Our server was excellent! We were chatting and catching up and he gave us time to look over the menu without being overbearing. He also explained the menu and answer our questions. We went with his recommendations. The goods: For cocktails we had the ARC DE TRIOMPHE (smoked old fashioned) and ÎLE DE FEU (mezcal cocktail), both were good. Though the old fashioned was a bit sweet. We had the cauliflower soufflé to start, it was excellent! For entrees we shared the lobster pot pie and the seafood stew. The pot pie was the star of the show. The seafood stew was bland. We did see the Dover sole being served table side, it looked amazing. Definitely getting that next time. Poor service, food was okay. Came here for a celebration and was pretty disappointed. We couldn't order drinks for at least 30 minutes after sitting down. Our food wasn't ordered for probably another hour. It was frustrating because our server was no where in sight. Also felt like our party was being treated differently then others, as we say their food come and go while we waited. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally got the opportunity to! Valet is available which is nice because parking can be tough in that area. It cost $17 and they take card and cash for valet. The restaurant itself is BEAUTIFUL. It's gorgeous inside and feels very romantic. The service was wonderful. Our server - I wish I could remember his name, maybe Patrick? - was the perfect server. He was helpful, kind, funny and patient. He did an exceptional job recommending items to us based on our preferences. The food itself was so so good. I ordered the rack of lamb and my friend had the halibut. Both were amazing. Food: I got the GRAND "WAGYU" STEAK AU POIVRE with fries and it was good and my husband got their lamb entree which was excellent. The scallops were also a great item to order as a starter since the waitress said they can come out pretty quickly. We ordered the CAULIFLOWER, GRUYERE & CHEVRE SOUFFLÉ based on Yelp reviews and it was super tasty and went perfect with the bread basket; it takes 20 minutes to prepare but worth the wait. We arrived at 5:15 and it was pretty busy when we left so make reservations far in advance. The hostess was very friendly and our waitress Dakota was amazing. We were treated with kindness and respect even though we had our two toddlers who were well behaved. We were the only ones who brought kids since it's a fancier place but it is kid friendly early in the evening. Once you find parking, this is an awesome experience! The ambiance is just right--a little bit of old world, mixed with some modern architectural style, plus some soft lighting. Our server matched, too, with his zippy demeanor. I love scallops, and these had a crisp buttery crust that completed the scallop beautifully. For the main course, I tried the Le Grand Toast. They meant it when they said the eggs are creamy! The salty roe provided a nice tang, and I stripped my herbs and sprinkled them all over. Oh, and dessert was amazing, too! If you've been to his other restaurant, Fhima's, it will come as no surprise to you that David Fhima's Maison Margaux is characterized by beauty and superb service--the restaurant itself is charismatic. It's easily one of the most beautiful restaurants in the Cities, with several different areas, each with its own kind of elegance. (The bar area on the main floor? Magnetic!) The restaurant is in a historic building, the character of which is preserved and integrated into the space. (I really love that.) The service? Superlative! We were lucky enough to have Chris, who my host knew from Fhima's, as our server, and he was truly one of the highlights of the evening. Personable, knowledgeable, and engaging, he provided some of the best service I have received in my time dining out. If you're making a reservation, see if you can be seated in his section--he will not steer you wrong on his recommendations. Maison Margaux has a wine list that goes well beyond respectable. It's not really even a list--it's a book. If you are a wine lover or you want to impress one, this may be the place. There are also non-wine options including beer and cocktails, and for my fellow zero-proof foodies, there are fun mocktails. (I almost hate to call them mocktails, as they don't feel like a substitute for a "real" cocktail so much as delights unto themselves.) I had the Fizzy and Lifting, an excellent refreshment for this extra-warm day, followed by a Raspberry Lavender Lemonade, which was truly blissful. It tastes like unconditional love, which might be a weird thing to say about a drink, but there you have it. Unconditional love in a glass. Maison Margaux's menu provides a dilemma. Everything looks so darned good. There are items to share, items for one. We went with the two appetizers that we shared and then two entrees that we did not. I was very happy with the amount of vegetarian options available from both lists. (Not sure? Ask your server. If you have Chris, he knows everything. Trust him.) We started with the tomato and onion piperade, an amazing marmalade of slow-confit tomatoes with bell peppers served on 130-year-old starter. If you like depth of flavor and nightshades that melt in your mouth, you should order this. The second starter that we ordered was the cauliflower and Gruyère soufflé. It, too, was lovely. It's a crying shame that cauliflower isn't featured in more dishes. This dish was superb. It does more than elevate cheesy cauliflower; it transforms it into something new and different and altogether marvelous. I might order this as my main next time. Speaking of my main, I was happy to see that there is a plant-based menu here. It was hard to choose, but when Chris described the linguine, I knew it was what I wanted. This dish was absolutely stunning--beautifully plated, chock-full of lovely vegetables, and swathed in a glorious tomato espelette sauce. (I opted for the version with cream, but it can be made vegan, too.) It had a lovely bite to it, and it was really hard to stop eating, but I had to, because I really wanted to try dessert. I had the profiterole. I'll cut right to the chase on this: best caramel sauce in the Twin Cities right here. Order it, love it. The profiterole is large (don't share) and filled with a pastry cream. It comes coated in the most delightful caramel sauce, and thanks to tableside service gets a healthy drizzle of hot chocolate sauce (that may have had a hint of coffee). Decorum? Out the window. This is the place to go for a special occasion! We made a Sunday night reservation for our friend's birthday and from start to finish everything was perfect. We were seated right away, service the entire night was impeccable, the decor is gorgeous, and every dish was delicious. Our server was super friendly and she answered all our questions about the menu with super helpful details (most of our table was not familiar with French food so we had quite a few questions). We were started off with some surprise complimentary champagne to toast with (such a nice touch that made the night that much more special), some drinks, and a complimentary bread basket that our server made sure was filled throughout the night. My friend's espresso martini was delicious, but my favorite drink was the pomme de mes yeux, their play on an appletini. For food, we split the cauliflower, gruyère, and chèvre soufflé and it was AMAZING. Truly a standout dish, we went through probably a whole bread basket from spreading the soufflé on sourdough. For a main, I went with the short rib bourguignon and it was also great. It was to tender it fell apart with just a fork, and it was a nicely sized portion for the price, we all went home full and with leftovers. It's definitely on the pricier side here, but for the incredible service and delicious food it's worth it! Maison Margaux is located in a great location off the beaten path. The outside has a beautiful classic sign reminding me of the Moulin Rouge. As you walk in you are greeted right away by very friendly hostesses and servers. I was led to my seat and assisted right away. The location is a mix of brightly lit areas and some dimly lit areas and feels very romantic and charming in a way but that depends on the person's perception and feeling. All the servers and staff were well dressed giving the place the additional spark of class and fancy. It sucks to walk into a place when you look at the menu and you see everything in the mid and upper double digits and you are being served by someone in jeans and a polo shirt. The ambiance feels lively and they have a valet service that I didn't know about so I parked by some sketch alley from a shop with a fancy bathtub on display. The menu looked very good and the appetizers were to die for. They brought out some sort of toasted bread with this absolutely divine cheese! I must confess I was late so I was eating the scraps on the table so I am not sure what everything was so I must go back and visit again if the chef or restaurant does not ban me after this review. Our server was absolutely fabulous. You go to fancy places and you generally get some stiff server who does not speak and judging you because your holding the fork or knife in the wrong hand or you did not place your fork properly on your plate after each course but she was amazing. Any server that can read the guests and able to adapt to the guest's mood and character has as the young kids say that "Unspoken Riz" Now the food. I ordered the Wagyu en croute and chef don't hate me but I give this a 2.5/5 just because if I order a steak I want my steak to come with just steak and I know that this is how the dish is made but as I disassembled the croissant burger there was a microscopic piece of meat inside and I do understand that the cost of the dish is based on the skill to wrap it and the layers and the sauce and art and skill it takes to make and I most likely cannot make this disk. I however did not like it and it's just my preference but I'm sure many may like the flavours produced by this dish. It didn't taste bad it was just not my favorite. The short ribs were very good however and my fellow party growers were licking the plate clean. They were practically done before the server came back for the second round of wine. The Grand Wagyu was also fabulous and vanished quickly. Some of the items vanished so quickly before I could even get a photo of them. You would think David Blane was sitting at the table. The desserts were amazing. For me, I wanted to stick with the classics and they had all types of ports on the menu so I had a port and an espresso. My port was very good and several of them had very good comments about the 20-year port. The espresso was good and not burnt and bitter like some places that apply too much heat or pressure. The cheesecake was not too dense but very fluffy and creamy. It melted like butter as you chewed it in your mouth and croquembouche omg omg is all I have to say. My friend next to me didn't even want to share. He devoured them as they were so fluffy and creamy and melted. He said he could eat them for breakfast every morning and wanted to get some to go they were so good. The wine list here is amazing and I didn't have anything I did not like. Our server also made sure my cup was never dry and made our night incredible. Despite my dislike of my entrée I highly recommend coming here and I plan to go back if I'm not blacklisted now and try more of their dishes and leave a proper rating on the food from start to finish. read more

I really wanted to love Maison Margaux. I am not opposed to giving it another try, because the concept is lovely and it certainly has potential, but I was a bit underwhelmed for my first time. There are three levels to the restaurant: an underground bar, main floor dining area, and upper level event floor. The main floor has a lot going on and I am sure this is by design! With a mix of exposed wood, exposed brick, marble tables, checkered floors, multiple wallpaper designs, blue and silver chairs, and unique light fixtures, it is somewhat hectic. It feels as if you move a few tables over, you are dining in a different restaurant completely. Interesting, but slightly disjointed. Our server was pleasant, but didn't interact with our group much. The menu doesn't delineate small dishes from mains by label, just by grouping, and that wasn't explained initially. After we asked for recommendations, they suggested a few without much elaboration. However, the staff that brought our dishes were enthusiastic and friendly, describing the plates as they set them down at the table. I also appreciated that we were allowed to slow play our evening, sitting for over three hours and not once feeling rushed. As a group of five, we were able to try a good portion of the menu. Starting off with drinks, I ordered the Martini (vodka, dirty, extra dry). Delivered in a beautifully cut glass with a single olive settled at its base, it was unfortunately lukewarm and diluted. However, I tried my friend's Arc de Triomphe, their version of an old fashioned, which was liquor forward, not too sweet, and perfectly chilled. The small plates were, as a whole, disappointing. The Aligot was essentially a cheese and potato mixture that could be spread on crisp baguette slices. Not much flavor or texture, which maybe that is characteristic of this dish, but just very basic. The Pork Belly and Brie was confusing. There was a thin strip of tough, dry pork belly lining the base of the dish and I didn't taste a single hint of brie. The Cauliflower, Gruyere and Chèvre Soufflé was the best small plate. A perfectly golden brown crust with a creamy, cheesy interior - really delicious. Our mains included Short Ribs Bourguignon, Bouillabaisse, and Wagyu Filet Mignon en Croûte. I didn't try the short ribs, but was told another French restaurant in the area does it better for less. My other friends split the filet and weren't wowed (especially given the price). I tried the Bouillabaisse, and having never ordered this dish before, I lacked any comparison. I guess I expected the broth to be more complex and full of flavor. The potatoes and carrots were pretty undercooked, but the mussels, one lonely scallop, and chunk of fish that I tried were good! It came with a baguette slice topped with orange spread (?) which was the best part of the whole dish! Desserts were mixed. The French Cheesecake was mousse-like, incredibly fluffy and light on texture. As with traditional French cheesecake, it lacked the thick crust and denser filling, which I actually enjoyed, and the strawberry sauce drizzled over top was tasty. The Parison Chocolate Cake left a bit to be desired. A layered cylinder was topped with chocolate sauce and filled with dry cake and chocolate mousse. The mousse was excellent, but it was difficult to get a bite with the dry, hard cake layered between, as if it has been left in the fridge for one too many nights. Again, really wanted to like MM. If I go back, I would love to check out the underground bar and maybe go for brunch instead of dinner? I am also not a French food expert by any means, so perhaps some of these dishes were perfectly executed and I just missed the mark! read more

Had a lovely time at Maison Margaux with friends for dinner. We had the reservation a couple of months in advance and came in for a double date. The restaurant is beautifully styled, had a nice aesthetic, loved the waiter uniforms and the overall classy vibe of MM. I am kicking myself for not writing this review sooner when my reaction of the food and menu was fresh in mind. I believe we ordered the Pommes Frites, Petit Wagyu Tartare, Bone Marrow & Duck Confit, French Onion Soup and the Pistou Jambon Linguini. Can't go wrong with fries, the tartare was excellent, the bone marrow with confit was beautifully presented and came with '130 year-old sourdough bread' which tasted like regular sourdough to me but I'm no bread connoisseur! My friends loved their linguini and soup. It's a great restaurant to try, you definitely have to make a reservation in advance though. Also keep in mind the prices are quite high. The bone marrow and confit was $39, tartare was $29, but you get the picture. It's a hot new restaurant with a unique menu, absolutely worth a visit! read more

New hot spot alert!!! Loved this chic new place. My mom and my sisters dragged me along and boy I am glad they did. If you're anything like me then you look at the menu before going to the restaurant, in this case don't. I had picked out a cocktail prior to going but the menu was different from online. I went week 4 from their opening date so possibly could be something they were still working on. Service- Although having a reservation we did have to wait for our table to be ready which took about 10-15 minutes typically I don't mind so much except the bar was full so we couldn't even get drinks while we waited. The waiter was hilarious and had a fun personality when interacting with us. The chef even came to all the tables to talk and ask our options about the food, very friendly and personable. Food- Complimentary bread to start except the bread isn't warm if that's something you like don't expect that. We started with the Aligot and Pommes Frites, both yummy! Entrees were Rack of Lamb, Ratatouille, and the Linguini. Skip the ratatouille like people have reviewed it's difficult to eat because of all the small chicken bones. The rack of lamb was the best lamb I have ever had including when I spent a week in Paris! The flavor and the way it was prepared was impeccable. Linguini was good but you can't really go wrong with pasta. Dessert was very tasty as I love strawberry cake. Cocktails- Delicious and strong not to taste but could feel a nice buzz after one. The entire experience here is like a work of art! Every room is beautifully decorated. It felt like we were part of a painting. Even the tables served as gorgeous backdrops for our food and drinks! Parking wasn't as obvious to me so I panicked and kept driving until I could find paid hourly street parking a few blocks away and just walked from there. My friend and I had dinner reservations. The waitstaff was attentive and lovely. They greeted me with warmth and kindness and offered both sparkling and tap water upon being seated. Visited for a celebration dinner with a friend. We went mid week and had no issue finding on street parking within a block of the restaurant. Upon entering I was impressed by the space. It was larger than expected with plenty of well spaced seating, an open kitchen view and beautiful decor. The space was the best piece of the experience. Service overall was good. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. There was a slight mixup with one of our sides that was corrected without asking but delivered very late in the meal so we just took it home. For drinks we chose le joseph and arc de triomphe. The arc de triomphe was described as a smoked old fashioned when delivered and it made me question if they brought the right drink as there was no mention in the written description of it being smoked. If it was I probably wouldn't have ordered it but rolled with trying it. It was good - strong and flavorful but could've gone without the smoke. Appetizer we got Parisian ceviche which was perfect for two to share. The buttered toast was delicious and the ceviche was flavorful. We ordered glasses of wine for dinner. Their wine selection is extensive with over 800 bottles to choose from if you choose. If there is a varietal that you would like they probably have it. For mains we got the rack of lamb and the wagyu steak poivre. Lamb appeared cooked above the requested medium rare with no visible pink but still very good. The sauce was delicious and I could've put it on everything! Steak was also ordered medium rare but was undercooked to a, seemingly, rare. Again, still good but unfortunate that both meats seemed off in their requested temp. Desert we tried the grand macaron. Large enough to share but difficult to split. My friend noticed maybe it was a little over cooked on one side but it seemed a good consistency to me and the filling and the sauce drizzle was a good balance. I do think there are likely better dessert options if I return. Overall the experience was good. Given the little detail misses, I wouldn't call it extraordinary or a must visit but I would try it again. read more

It was an amazing dinner - so much fun and the service from Liz was amazing. The food was perfect and Eli was sooo gracious and accommodating. We sat downstairs which had a way different, darker vibe. The bar looked fun and had just the right amount of people. Tables were spaced so it was quiet and conversation was easy. The cocktails -A+, the wine list -A+. We shared a large portion of the bouillabaisse and added two sides (inc pomme frites, bien sur) - all were A+!! And it was gluten free!! I've only stopped in here for a drink downstairs between events, but the atmosphere here is absolutely divine! So chic, so inviting, so fun! We sat at the bar downstairs, and the bartender (Thistle, I think?) kept us entertained the whole time. When they discovered it was my birthday, they even comped my drink! Extremely disappointing Easter Brunch - Not worth $89 per person. We booked Easter Brunch for a party of 6 with high expectations, but the experience was a letdown from the moment we arrived. The "buffet" was awkwardly cramped at the front entrance by the host stand and lacked basic presentation or labeling. The food quality was unacceptable for the price: The Buffet: The shrimp was waterlogged and served without lemon. Grilled vegetables, bacon, and sausage appeared to have been sitting out for hours. The cheese fondue was curdled and served with stale, untoasted bread. The Entrées: We were told Wagyu Ribeye and Lobster Benedict were included, yet the server seemed annoyed when we ordered them. The "Wagyu" was actually a dry, fatty piece of sirloin--certainly not Wagye or Prime Rib. The Lobster Benedict featured hard-boiled eggs and a tiny, crawfish-sized piece of lobster on a burnt, dry cornmeal base. Service & Drinks: Our server was visibly irritated by basic requests. Although Bloody Marys and Kir Royales were included in the fixed price, the Bloody Marys arrived as plain mix and vodka--no garnish, no salted rim, and no effort. For $89 per person, we expected a premium holiday meal. Instead, we received subpar food and dismissive service. We will not be returning. read more

A fancy French restaurant with an appealing atmosphere, nice staff, and tasty food. The Margaux Martini (with gin) came first in a procession of delights and was actually among the better martinis I've ever sipped. Gin Mare, dry vermouth, house olive, and just ever so slightly dirty with a little brine. The house brined olive: wow! I actually had to ask for another, to show my date how very good it was! Next came frog legs and the ratatouille, followed by beef pot roast and the lamb - all deliciously prepared and perfectly seasoned and of which the lamb was my favorite. Kudos to the charming and informative server (a guy with a mustache), and my thanks to chef Fhima, who came out and checked on us twice. Left with a satisfied appetite, a feeling of comfort, and a stimulated inner foodie. p.s. reading in the newspapers, I thought this would be a Moulin Rogue themed restaurant. Though it was a swanky night out, it didn't feel like a themed experience, did not remind of the movie. read more

There is a great selection of wine to pair with meals. I particularly like their mussels with crispy buttered toast and CAULIFLOWER, GRUYERE & CHEVRE SOUFFLÉ. Maison Margaux is the perfect celebration spot for that french lover in your life! It truly feels like a slice of Paris in here - modern and upscale eclectic decor, so fun for a night out with the girls or a date night. You have to put down a deposit for your reservation, but they will fully refund it once you've had your meal. We went here for a friends birthday and made it know to the staff, so they brought us some complementary champagne! Definitely started our night off right. All of my friends ordered wine and drinks and loved them, I had a couple of sips around and I was impressed. Our server was extremely kind and knowledgeable, and also let us know ahead of time that they course out our food and it's all made fresh to order - we didn't mind. A MUST is the Cauliflower Cheese Souffle, dip this with your bread as an appetizer and i could truly eat this all night. Plus, the bread is made in house! For dinner I ordered the Oui Burger, I was told they only make it medium which is fine with me since I would've ordered it like that. I was disappointed to find that it was definitely well done, but I wasn't willing to send it back for a new one since everyone was eating. However, it was still super flavorful, rich and juicy so I can recommend! The fries were also incredible. I would recommend this place more for drinks, apps and dessert due to the pricing, but if you want to swing for an expensive meal out I'd try it here! read more

We went to Maison Margaux in the evening to have a bottle of wine. They have a really cool cellar, Salon Rouge, below their main restaurant that also serves food. We had a bottle of 2019 Archaval Ferrer Quimera from Mendoza. We had wanted a bottle of pinot noir but they were out, this wine exceeded our expectations. We also had the pommes frites as a snack which were good. Highly recommend Salon Rouge for a date night! read more
