I'm new to Orlando and was in need of an independent shop to address several electrical gremlins on my 08 xc70. I sent Maitland an email requesting an appointment, the request was answer ed quickly with a early morning time slot .my 08 xc70 has several electrical gremlins. The issues were diagnosed and corrected the same day . They also called me several times that day to keep me abreast of the progress. This is my first time to Maitland Importers and it won't be my last! I went into this mechanic shop on guard, but came out knowing that it is a reputable business where knowledge and customer service is job #1. This shop is not in the best part of town, but the service is worth it for sure. I met with the service manager, Ian, who was especially helpful and gave me some insight on my newly acquired Volvo S40. He told me some things to be aware of, but did not try to up sell me to the point where I would felt like I was at some jiffy lube. I even got a chance to talk to one of the mechanics who was courteous and helpful and happily answered a few of my basic questions. After a busy schedule at work, I was finally able to take my C70 in for service. Maitland Importers is the real deal when it comes to quality and value for Volvo service. The owner knows the importance of delivering what was promised, whether it's following up on communication by email and phone call to going above by checking areas the specific model frequently shows wear and tear. I've been taking my Volvo(s) to Maitland Importers for over a decade. Dan is a true gentleman, honest, friendly and easy-going. His shop staff are very friendly and always do a thorough job. They have several parts cars, so using a spare part rather than a new part is a welcome thing, especially if the price of new is exponential compared to a used part. Update on my first review. I honestly don't have enough good to say about Ian and the staff at Maitland Imports. I'm having a terrible time with my car; crazy repair that took them days to figure out, and it needs an expensive part that can only be gotten through Volvo. Not only did they give me a discount on the work done, but Ian said he would credit me the labor hours already accrued towards the future work. He also gave me some insight into possibly having Volvo assist with the repair. There just aren't enough independent mechanics that are honest, trustworthy, and genuinely good people. He is one of them. If you drive a Volvo or a Mini, don't take it anywhere else. read more

I believe I have found the answer to my Volvo repair budget. I had a hell of a lot done this initial visit. Comparing the "V.Store" invoice to MI's I can only shake my head at how dealers will do you. Each shop did a single CV boot R&R within 6 mos. of each other. For me, the difference just doesn't justify the life time parts warranty perk now offered at the Volvo dealer. Lets just say I can afford to just pay Ian to do it again in another 80K. With changing out the timing belt, cam seals and motor mounts and 90K service list, I must say with three or more weeks into the repair now, all is working as it should. That is a load of some major work that if not done properly, could have major consequences. Maitland Importers has fulfilled their reputation and the referrals I received as far as I'm concerned. My one critical note would only be the hours of operation. 8-6 can be tough to navigate in Orlando's traffic when you struggle with work schedule, but Ian will hold back a little longer if you prearrange it with him. That's just life in the big city. LOL read more

What an awesome place to have your Volvo worked on. I needed an oil change done and Ian emailed me back promptly and let me know when he had availability. I had been to the dealer a few weeks prior and got a quote that was absolutely ridiculous as I knew they were trying to pull a fast one. Not only did Maitland Importers help me out financially but they even caught an issue from previous work done on my rear brakes and called right away to let me know it would be more money. They are fantastic. I will be referring everyone with a Volvo/Mini in Orlando and surrounding areas to them. Thank you Ian and your awesome Tech's for keeping me going. 2003 MINI Cooper S: I just had my rear struts, lower control arm bushings and passenger side front wheel bearing assembly replaced by Maitland. It was supposed to be just bushings and struts but when they test drove it the mechanic realized that the wheel bearing was shot. I got all this done for a lot less then what MINI of Orlando was going to charge me. It's good to find a shop that looks after the customers best interests instead of just the bottom line. Ian is a straight shooter and has a vast knowledge of MINIs and their quirks. If you need your MINI serviced go see Ian and he will take great care of you. read more

I evacuated to Orlando from Miami Beach when my Acura overheated needing to replace the radiator. The only shop open gave me a ridiculous quote of $890 !!! Shame on them. Clearly taking advantage of me and my desperate situation. I started calling other shops w no avail since all closed due to hurricane when I came acrosd Ian , who answered the phone and immediately showed genuine interest in helping me. Having been a long time customer with two MINI Coopers, I had to stop going to Maitland Imports as they destroyed more than one engine and refuse to make good. I have also had them give me totally inaccurate diagnoses of issues, costing addition funds unrelated to the issues at hand. Work on your car will always be pushed of or return late. If you need your MINI serviced do yourself a favor and take it to the dealer it will cost you a little more up front, but at least it will get fixed right. These guys don't need another good review, but I'm going to do it anyway. :) My daughter's 2004 Volvo had a busted oil pan and needed the timing belt changed. Ian and the shop know their Mini Coopers! But they also treat you like a friend rather than a newly acquainted customer. Ian takes his time to explain things, doesn't perform work that isn't required even if I asked to have unnecessary work done. They really inform you on the cars and their service needs. I am so glad I found this shop! I did extensive searching using google, and also a mini forum, they had pretty unanimous good reviews and recommendations, so I have to add my own! Ian was the BEST mechanic I've ever dealt with as far as communication goes, he put up with me, he explained everything, and he was very accommodating. Took my Mini Cooper here to get fixed after it wouldn't start. It took them about a couple weeks to get it fixed because they were so busy but eventually they did. I wasn't in a hurry so that didn't matter much to me. It cost $2k less than what the dealership estimated me and they did a full check of the rest of the car too to see if there were any other problems. Super wonderful. Used them for a pre purchase inspection of a Volvo we were buying site unseen. I picked this place because researched showed they were volvo enthusiasts. Did a detailed inspection, sent a report, and made me feel comfortable buying a car without seeing it. Highly recommended. Also gave very good tips on how to change out rear control arms to get longer tire life.
