Love this place! I come here every Sunday after church. The food is great. I always order the same thing, fish and shrimp dinner, with baked macaroni and collard greens. I have NEVER seen or witness poor customer service. Approximately 10 to 15 minute wait. The offer extremely generous servings that can feed 2 people. Their all fish platters can easily feed 6 ppl. Among the best fish and chips I've had. The catfish are big juicy cuts of meat, not the mostly-breaded stuff you may find elsewhere. The tartar and hot sauces are delicious and make any fish n chips meal here special. So much so that they're integral to the meal and I had to rate them down a star on Uber Eats once because the tartar wasn't included and it wasn't the same - especially as the fries are just good, not amazing, and the palette really loses a lot when the fish and tartar aren't combined. So I was visiting my friends in Harlem and they said I should try this spot. As a native of New Orleans-I know good fried seafood. Let me tell you that the fried fish here is The Truth!! It is fried to order so it comes out hot and fresh. I got the catfish and shrimp combo. My husband got the #7 Catfish fish and chips which gave you a pretty big portion for the price. The guy behind the countet also gave us the Prime Time shrimp to try. I actually like the batter and seasoning on those better than what I recived on the combo plate. Don't get me wrong, everything was amazing but as a matter of preference, I like those better. The normal fried shrimp have a lighter batter which is reminisce of tempoura batter. All in all I say you must try this place and I bet you will be pleased. Just have your expectations in check - just fried fish.. don't come there looking for a lot of fluff or white tablecloth service. Fried seafood, sides and a drink.. This is a great soul food spot to go to. The cheese grits are my favorite and the shrimp is so good. Depending on what day / time you go will determine how long the wait is to get the food , especially on a Sunday after church it's very crowded and the wait a little while but it's completely worth it . I've had everything except the chicken and I have not been disappointed with anything . This spot is not for someone who is healthy because everything is fried, however if you want a cheat day that's going to put a big smile on your face I would definitely recommend going here. read more

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Make My Fish and try a few of the items on their menu. First you should know that you get a lot of food for your money. Too bad I can't give them a zero! Two days ago, I placed my order, paid, then glanced past the cashier to see the worker wipe the counter down with a rag & with that same hand he picked up some fish & put it on a plate! So I asked why he wasn't using tongs to touch the fish? At that point, the guy who claims to be the owner got nasty with me. He said they've never used tongs & it doesn't seem to bother the ten thousand other people who eat from here. He was nasty & insulting, and loud, so I got a refund from the cashier and vowed to never go there again. He even said the name of his competition & said I should go to the other fish restaurant--they use tongs, but their food tastes like ish, he said. So abusive, just bc I inquired why the worker wasn't using tongs! Keep in mind, I've been eating here for a couple of years, but never noticed the workers handling food with 'multitasking gloves'. That's super nasty, especially in the middle of a pandemic--I wonder how many employees had handled that same rag that day? How many people got sick from those nasty rags & didn't know how they got sick? I won't be going there ever again to eat that filth AND I will absolutely make a complaint to the NYC Dept of Health! read more

Count your pieces of fish before you leave! The menu says 6 pieces of Whiting per "all fish" Whiting order. However, after arriving home, I discovered that I had received 4 pieces of Whiting only (not catfish)! This fish is just ordinary. Not very flavorful. SERVICE IS VERY VERY SLOW. I just purchased a combo order of fish, shrimp & fries. Let's start off with the cashier and how she did not even have a smile on her face or didn't even brother to say WELCOME TO OUR ESTABLISHMENT!!! The cooks appeared unkept and was blasting loud music(profanity laced). The owner who appeared to have on a black shirt was oblivious to the entire situation. The fry station, you can see when you walk in because its positioned right behind the cashier. The area wasn't cleaned and appeared disorganized; I wanted to give them the opportunity to redeem themselves with the food. Now let's talk about how the cook plied my fish and shrimp on top of my fries; so all the grease went directly on the fries and even my fries were over cooked. You can better food at Amy Ruth's across the street. This is way it's difficult to support local establishments sometimes because the quality of the food and service doesn't measure up!! Fresh fish and shrimp. Small locale with 3-6 seats. It's more of a take out spot. Wait time to get your food is about 15 to 20 min (we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday. I had the fish(whiting) and shrimp. The shrimp are large and very tasty. They are not overly battered which is good because nobody wants to pay for batter. Golden fried just like mom's. The fried writing's taste was a bit off. I'm not sure if they use fresh or farmed fish. It wasn't horrible but not five stars like the shrimp. We also got the cat fish and it was really tasty. Sides of greens and mac and cheese are 5 star. They taste homemade. I didn't see the desserts displayed. The waiting was pleasant as they had a TV on. The staff is also friendly, professional and pleasant. I love Harlem and love that they are black owned. My brother (foodie) said this is the best fried fish spot in Harlem and I agree. This is now our go to spot. I'm dreaming of the shrimp,mac and cheese and greens.
