So can I abbreviate them to MFers? Makers & Finders is a cafe and Latin American restaurant that started in the Arts District of Las Vegas, successfully expanded to Summerlin, and extended its tendrils into Henderson. Located on Valle Verde south of 215, they're part of a surprisingly high number of restaurants, making parking a bit tougher than expected even on a weekday before peak lunch. My mom expressed interest in their empanadas, and I seconded the idea because it was Wednesday. I'd heard that they offer $2 empanadas on Wednesdays, which the employee at the takeout counter clarified is limited to 3 per person. I guess we should've brought my dad along too? She did let us order both on the same transaction though, which was convenient. We got to try a variety of empanadas while remaining at our limit. All of the empanadas had a nice crispy shell. The short rib was my favorite as it was seasoned nicely and very tender. The garlic shrimp and chicken tinga were also quite delicious. The soyrizo rajas was surprisingly good, and the quesos was nice. The breakfast one was just okay though, reading mostly of scrambled eggs. The real star might be the condiments, which included a nice crumbled cheese, an herb-loaded green sauce and a somewhat sweet orange sauce that reminds me of a nearby fast food chain's special sauce. The green sauce was my favorite and worked with everything, while the orange sauce was a bit heavy. I also tried the Nitro Cold Brew ($7) coffee. I don't know what's with their cup and lid design, but it kept leaking drops of coffee onto my shirt. I had to remove the lid to resolve the problem. The coffee itself is more bitter than expected for a nitro, perhaps due to heavy roastiness. It's nutty and has some dark chocolate notes, which I would have enjoyed more if it were just a bit more smooth. The coffee was prepared so quickly that I didn't even realize my order was ready, and the empanadas came out pretty soon afterward. The employees were maybe neutral at best in the friendliness department. The atmosphere was more on the quiet side, and there's a covered patio outside if that's your style or if you're bringing a pet. Makers & Finders is a welcome addition to the area. I look forward to grabbing more empanadas on Wednesdays when I'm in the mood for affordable small bites, and perhaps I'll try other coffees or even some entrees. read more

Just an awful experience. We came to this restaurant at 10am on a Wednesday, the restaurant was about 1/4 full. It took 15 mins for any one to take our order. I would have been ok with this since there seemed to be only 1 waitress but the restaurant of our visit was just not good. After our order was taken it took another 15 mins for someone to bring us the wrong order. 20 minutes later, we got the right order after tables around us were that were seated after us were already eating. we came here on a Saturday morning. Line was out the door! So expect to wait here for sure. We arrived and waited around for maybe 15 min before they put our name down to get a text when the table was ready. So that was a little frustrating since we were waiting and had to wait almost another 45 min before a table was ready for 2 . It's not too large of a seating area here. Some of the tables are pretty close together and then they have some booth seating near the back area. Our server was really nice and attentive. We only got appetizers to share but the portions were pretty big. I will say all the food we had was spot on. the avocado toast was probably one the best I've had. The bread they used was so soft and fluffy and the egg on top was cooked perfectly! We also got the empanada sample which came with 5 different types of empanadas. Cheese, beef, chicken, shrimp, rib. First and foremost, I was a big fan of some employees there who performed above and beyond service, and recently had learned about the poor work condition for various employees I know. Can't support a business as such. Now, the important part, the food. I went to the Henderson location on Tuesday for their steak special, and the steak was absolute garbage, and I had asked the bar why the potatoes tasted like they were frozen, and guess what, they use frozen potatoes. Absolutely miserable considering that without the special they charge a hefty amount for the steaks and potatoes. The best part was the egg. That shouldn't be the case. Steak was chewy, cold, and unseasoned. The Main Street location I will be writing a separate review with the same beginning, but my steak experience there was even worse, and the manager there was an even worse encounter. I don't know why this place hired such despicable leadership, I miss the employees who were fantastic there. Idk what they're doing at Makers, but it's obvious that decision making skills are something that has gone downhill there. read more

We stumbled on M&F in Summerlin a while ago. Really liked it but a bit too far to travel for a casual brunch. Today, we stumbled on M&F in Henderson. Nice find! It is a fairly small coffee/brunch shop in a shopping center with a couple of other good casual eateries.They have a nice small patio area on the side of the restaurant (see photo). My wife and I shared the braised chicken arepa ($18) and the empanada flight ($22). The empanada flight consisted of 5 empanadas each cut in half with 3 dipping sauces, cheese, and lemon on the side. I liked the shrimp best with the cheese a close second. I was not a fan of the short rib empanada (my wife's favorite- no accounting for taste). Big big fan of Makers and Finders so I was so excited to hear that they were bringing a location to Henderson! My husband and I came here on a Saturday around 11am to grab a bite to eat. When we got there, we were told by the nice hostess it would be a little bit of a wait. There were some empty tables but I'm assuming it's more because they weren't fully staffed yet which no biggy at all! We gave our number and got a text when our table was ready. Love the ambiance in here! They have a walk up coffee bar too if you wanna take your coffee to go. Or they also have walk-in bar seating which we would have opted for but it was full. My husband didn't realize they also had alcoholic drinks so we decided we gotta come back when we're more in the drinking mood. Our server was johnathan and he was amazing! Checked in on us so much. I looove their empanadas so I had to get the empanada bowl. I got it with a shrimp and a short rib. The short rib was my fave. Lots of flavor! Also comes with yummy rice and beans. Glad to have the new to our area, Makers & Finders at Valle Verde and 215 I've been to their other location in Downtown Summerlin, so I was really excited for them to open. The vibe inside is cute with a decent sized dining area, and if you're just looking for a coffee fix they have a to go counter for their specialty coffee's, teas and smoothies. They specialize in breakfast empanadas, unfortunately I didn't try that this time, but next time I return I will. I had their hot Honey Vanilla latte which was great but not sweet enough for me, nothing a little sugar can't fix. I also had their Mf Sando which I really enjoyed, you can either get that on Sourdough or a croissant, I opted for the croissant, it comes with cheddar cheese, maple bacon tomato and their garlic aioli, so good, I ordered mine with fries (of course you have options for your side) their fries were nice golden and crispy, I asked the server if there were any specialty sauces to dip my fries (I'm a sauce girl) and she brought out their garlic aioli and some special sauce, the special sauce almost tasted like a fry sauce you can get in Utah, this sauce definitely made the fries for me. First time here; decided to visit because of the great reviews. The place is super cute inside with a nice patio where a sign was posted it is dog friendly. Since they had shade and it didn't seem too hot, we opted for sitting outside. The host took us out right away. Then we waited a few minutes for her to come back out with water. She said our server would be right out. Then we waited. And we waited. And we waited. Two other parties were seated outside after us. Both were given water too. Then finally a server came out. Unfortunately, the server helped guest party 2 that was seated after us. My friend had an appointment so I finally went inside and spoke to another host at the entrance and explained what happened. He said he would be right out to take our order. Which he was. The food did come out quickly after that and we were able to have the meal in time for my friend to get to her appointment. We both had their specialty empanadas (lunch bowl) and they were tasty. Food I give a 4.5. Service today was a 2 at best. I will come back one more time. For me this place was just alright, the food that I tried; nothing stood out flavor wise. Presentation was nice. I ordered 2 empanadas bowl ($16) that came with rice and beans, I loved that you can choose any two empanadas, I got the chicken tinga and the short rib. They have dipping sauces for your empanadas. Came with a group of 5 today - seated once our entire group was present. Thankfully we got seated at a large table; however the surrounding tables are fairly close. Not really a place to go and have super private conversations! The service was okay, our waitress was friendly but it seemed like the kitchen might have kept tripping her up. I wasn't as hungry as I wanted to be trying M&F for the first time, so I opted for 2 a la carte empanadas and some crispy fries. The fries are in fact crispy and the garlic aioli that came with it was also good! I ordered a queso empanada and a beef empanada. The beef ended up being my favorite - flavor wise it was great! The queso empanada was like a crispy grilled cheese, I wish it had a sauce or something. Once the cheese got cold it was like a crunchy cheese sandwich. I ordered the honey vanilla latte iced with oatmilk and it was thankfully not very sweet. I really enjoyed it. On my way out I ordered the Lavender Latte iced with oatmilk and I liked that one better! The lavender flavor really came through. I'm so excited to have a Makers & Finders in Henderson! Awesome Latin food and great coffee all in one sit down restaurant is such a treat. Thankfully this location is larger than the Summerlin location and they packed it tight with tables. It's a sit down restaurant with a takeout counter for coffee as well. They have a nice area with seats to wait for takeout coffee. The tables are so close that a stroller won't fit so families might want to keep that in mind. The service has been friendly and the food doesn't take long to arrive at the table. The coffee here is great. It has a perfectly bold flavor. The Cuban Cortado is my absolute favorite and I've ordered it all three times I've been here. A cold brew with vanilla and almond milk was also very good. The drink menu is huge with all kinds of coffees, teas, and alcoholic beverages. The menu is so big that you'll just have to keep coming back like I have. The Empanada Bowl, La Paisa Arepa, and Breakfast Empanada Skillets have all been good. Their empanadas are a little more on the heavy, greasy side, but have tasty fillings. I really liked the spicy mushroom empanada. The sauces vary by empanada flavor. The Berry Empanada was a nice sweet ending. My daughter loves the waffle with strawberries from the kid's menu. The entire restaurant smells heavenly as they cook the waffles. I tasted the kid's chicken fingers and thought they were tasty. Makers & Finders is one of my favorite local restaurants/coffee shops and I was SO. VERY. EXCITED when I learned that they were opening their first Henderson location down the street from my house! My family and I have been waiting for M&F to open a location in Henderson for years on end and it finally happened. If I remember correctly, they had planned to open a location on Water Street in downtown Henderson but that was ultimately canceled. I follow M&F on Instagram and I would check their page every single day for grand opening updates once I heard about the news. After waiting for what seemed to be like an eternity for this location to open (they just had their grand opening today), my parents and I went to grab a coffee to go. This M&F fills the void of a Chase bank that closed in November 2021. I like the Arts District location as well, but I'll be frequenting this location more since it's so close to my house. A few weeks before they opened, I got a coupon for a free specialty coffee or latte from one of those ValPak envelopes that I get in the mail once a month, but unfortunately I think I threw it out by mistake. :( So, no free drink for me. Boooo. Anyway, we went inside and they were very busy - almost every table was taken. I ordered a cold brew, my mom ordered an iced Coconut Turmeric, and my dad ordered an iced Mexican Spiced Latte. The guy working behind the counter was very welcoming and friendly and our coffee came out in a prompt manner. Though it was their first day in business today, we are already making plans to come back again for brunch with my aunts and my grandma. Again, I am very happy to finally have an M&F so close to me.
