Great food, always! I love their rotisserie chicken, rice, beans, tostones and mofongos. Love the green sauce they serve it with! Atmosphere is friendly and casual. If you want some good ny hispanic rotisserie chicken and rice and beans, this is the spot to hit up! Service can be a hit or a miss, place is busy most of the times. Miss the $5 Tres leches, its $8 now

This place will no longer get any business from me. The quality of the food has definitely gone down... and the little guy who takes orders over the phone is extremely rude- I was not done placing my order and he hung up on me! When I received my order... the part of the order that I was able to place... I noticed that the chicken was bad! It was undercooked and old. The rice- like always- old and hard! I called to let them know that they sent poor quality food and that the person who originally took the order did not even let me finish. The person who I spoke to the second time around claimed to be the manager and said that it was strange that I was not able to place the complete order because (he claims) they always ask if you want anything else prior to hanging up... and then he was defensive about the food being old. He said he was the one who packed the order so he knew it was fresh. He proceeded to ask me if I wanted to bring back the food and get a fresh order. No sir... I placed the order for delivery- clearly I am not trying to leave where I am comfortable.... And about half the chicken was already in the garbage. If I could give this place anything less than one star, I would. I will never get food from here again.

Malecon has the best Spanish food in the area. After a Saturday of drinking I have to call them for a Sanchocho and Cuban sandwich with garlic mojo. They always provide quick service especially for delivery. It always smells great when you enter the restaurant and table top always clean.

WTF! Soggy nasty mess of what is supposed to be a Cuban sandwich. In the TRASH!!!

I'll never order from them again! $59 in the trash except for the two canned sodas. The cuban sandwich was a soggy, ugly mess. Absolutely horrible. NO amount of doctoring it improved it. In the trash. The pepper steak was shoe leather dry and the flan was in this tiny prepackage cup that looks nothing like flan from a Latin restaurant for Pete's sake!!! I want to put on the record that I never post complaints about anything. If something doesn't work for me, I cut my losses. No big deal. I'm very conscious of the fact that there are people in this world who die from hunger and poverty and many times I question myself do I have the right to eat. I'm very grateful that I an get food anytime. But when services are performed that cost money and are crap, it has to be called out. If I were to do a half assed job in my profession, I'd get fired. This food is an insult!!! $54 f'ing dollars, in the trash.

Absolutely love the chicken dinner with red beans and rice. The sweet plantain is fabulous. The waitress is friendly and helpful. Always crowded a little loud inside but great for families and couples too. One of these days I'll find out how they make the chicken so delicious

Rat shit found in white rice 12/13/2023 !!!

I'm highly disappointed in this restaurant bc they honestly cook well . But after last night I will not support this establishment. I found a piece of rat shit in the bottom of my white rice that I ordered !!! Im truly disgusted bc I had some of this rice last night . I called to let management know and of course they denied everything saying that the restaurant don't have mice or rats & then kept insisting that it could of been a piece of food or chicken and that it's not what I think it is ! But is hard to not think that when it's the same color shape as rat shit !!! Here's the pic ! Please go elsewhere to eat ! I will not be supporting this restaurant anymore. 12/13/2023

I should preface this with my last experience was not good - salty food and crappy service. Even as a Latina, these people act as if they were doing me a favor by letting me buy their food. I was in that area and decided to try again but this time, to go, since the last time was over 2 years ago. We ordered bone in chicharron de pollo (that was not fully cooked and made my partner sick), pollo al horno, rice, beans and maduros. Dessert was flan that turned out to not be fresh - 45 dollars later and I will not do it again. Unfortunately, I live too far to bring the food back, but I certainly thought about it. Never again!

My parents use to take me to the Malecon somewhere on one sixty something street when wr were kids. I remember having the shirt steak with onion. I remember it being grilled on a GRILL..not a flat top. So when ordering my steak and explaining to my Spanish speaking server in the best English I could.."GRILL SKIRT STEAK" emphasizing GRILLED! She assured me my steak would be a skirt steak just how I wanted..the steak was skirt..it just wasn't grilled. I was disappointed. I usually try to stick to spots that I'm familiar with and Malecon is a nostalgic memory for me. I guess that was the old taste of Malecon. Unfortunately I will not be back.

I was disappointed with the quality of food here. I ordered pernil with arroz con gandules. The pernil was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. On top of that, I found bits of foil throughout my food, which was a huge turn off. The service is nice, but the food doesn't make up for it.

I love being able to recommend a steakhouse that dry ages its own meats right here in the neighborhood. Yesterday, we were a bit pressed for time, so we ordered the lamb chops, skirt steak, and, of course, a nice bottle of wine. Everything was fantastic. The lamb chops were phenomenal, easily among the best I've had at any restaurant. They were incredibly flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. I'm usually not someone who enjoys eating the fat on meat, but the fat on these chops was rendered so beautifully that I found myself eating every bite. There wasn't a single chewy or unpleasant piece. I normally order the porterhouse or ribeye, but the skirt steak was an excellent choice when I wanted something leaner and quicker to enjoy without sacrificing flavor. The fried potato salad is another standout. It's a unique side that's absolutely worth ordering. And then there's the peppercorn sauce served with the lamb chops. It's a total mic drop. I honestly can't put into words how good it is. I found myself dipping everything in it (even my fingers ). It's that delicious! Fiorentina continues to impress every time we visit, and it's become one of my favorite places to recommend for a great steak dinner.

Not only did they make no gesture to accommodate them in any other way, this is an EXTREME ADA violation, and could have very well been a lawsuit. The manager, Jimmy, sat and watched as both my grandmother and great uncle struggled to take the stairs, no hand of assistance. When I approached him, I was told 'what's the big deal, so you had to take some stairs'. I noticed other new items, such as the pork Ossobuco, which sounded better on paper, but Felix, who had taken over from Irma, stated the Pork Chop was better than the Ossobuco and accounts for my to go order. I still wonder about that decision, but the important thing is Home Bx is constantly evolving while the chefs in the kitchen remain constant and consistent. The roasted chicken is really good and verges on comfort food. It comes with a malanga truffle puree, which is a puree of the malanga tuber in the Caribbean and South America, resulting in a consistency of mashed potatoes, but has a nutty flavor that becomes very earthy with the butter, truffle oil and mushroom sauce, sparked with white wine and bits of bacon that has you thinking pancetta. The sauteed spinach accompanying this dish melds perfectly well with this dish. The chicken is the boneless breast and bone-in wing drumette, grilled in their kitchen. The skin is crispy and there is some char from the grill on certain parts, lending even greater favor and texture you will devour. The white meat of the breast absorbs the white wine, balanced with the butter and truffle oil and never has a hint of dryness. I am certain this dish would have been exceptional had I eaten it on premises. It will not have the impact of the Cote de Boeuf, but, at twenty seven bucks, this is probably the sleeper on the menu. Four stars. The Home Pork Chop is a single French cut chop, medium thickness, bone-in resembling a mini Tomahawk style frenched bone. It comes with a Marsala mustard sauce, which I could not determine if it was made with a dry red or white Marsala wine. It was served with an Oriental sweet potato mashed that did not do anything for this dish in my opinion. I would have to revisit this by eating it on premises, but this was the least impressive of the steak and chicken. Please take this review a little lightly, given I ate the chicken and pork chop at home. The pork chop benefits from being grilled as well, but did not have the impact other preparations have at Home Bx. If the Marsala mustard sauce had more bite to it, the Oriental sweet potato would have offered the contrast and juxtaposition for this dish to shine more. You'll enjoy eating the rest of the meat off that frenched pork chop bone. 3.8 stars. They work very hard at Home Bx to deliver on your plate for the benefit of your palate. Home Bx may be the only restaurant I have found that is receiving feedback and acting upon it and without anyone's prompts and Home Bx is independently evolving in their menu, preparation, and presentation. If there's any doubt, try their Lobster Mac and Cheese and get back to me or ask the folks nearby who ordered it.

You cannot order a fresh carafe or pitcher of sangria with the fruit in it here, which is what I was expecting from a place headlining sangria. So your experience of the Sangria Cafe for sangria will come down to whether you like yours fortified. I like my sangria freshly made to order with just the wine and chopped fruit, but you may have a better experience at Sangria Cafe if you prefer fortified sangria. So the Manager, Elios, was superb. He told me he would let me taste the red, white and lychee versions to see which one I preferred. Given they are all fortified to an extent, I chose to order margaritas. I prefer mezcal margaritas, but they did not have mezcal at the time. So I went with the tequila classic. It was good and I had it to go for my evening at a cigar lounge. I also ordered food to go: the French cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and the braised beef short rib with small potatoes and broccoli. Here's a twist: the food was better than the adult beverage at a place emphasizing the latter. At all times, my server, Hector, was superb in his own right. Service is probably the strong suit at Sangria Cafe, followed by the food. The French cut pork chops taste like they have been marinated or at least brined. You will eat these down to the bone and you will pick up those bones to clean them. The garlic mashed potatoes were great too, but the asparagus was a bit overcooked. On balance, this $30 dish was satisfying and would have been better had they included a little gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The beef short rib at $38 was even tastier. I appreciate the chef took the time to get a good cut of short rib and trimmed the excess fat down to a leaner cut. The meat is inherently marbled with fat, so the flavor is already going to be as present as the savory tenderness. If you dine at a restaurant where there is excess fat on the beef short rib, know the chef there is not putting in the work to trim all that fat. Coudos to the chefs in the Sangria Cafe kitchen for their trimming work. This is even better than the pork chops and you'll savor every bite. The broccoli was overcooked here, so the chefs could restrain themselves on the cooking time for the veggies. The small potatoes were perfect and what is not to like about marbled beef and potatoes. Here they have a little gravy with cooked onions to add to the savory pleasure. The Sangria Cafe is a great place to come with friends. This place will see lots of action as the weather warms. The atmosphere is upbeat and the music is in full swing. This is a Latino and Afro Latino crowd. The kitchen and service are very good here. Perhaps I'm in the minority preferring nonfortified sangria, but I wish that were an option with the chopped fruit in it. Perhaps the majority prefers the fortified hit, but it would be nice to have it more relaxed with just the wine as summer approaches or at any time of the year. Please keep the mezcal in stock as SOP for the mezcal margs. Thanks to Elios, Hector and the chefs in the kitchen. 3.5 stars.

We pull up, walk in and just stand for a bit as there isn't a hostess stand or hostess. The gentleman behind the bar then greats us and states we can't sit anywhere. After sitting for about 5mins my BF asks me if there's a QR code to scan because we still didn't have menus. I ask the same gentleman if there's a brunch menu and he then brings over menus. There isn't a brunch menu nor are bottomless mimosas offered. Even though what we were looking for wasn't available we decided to stay. The gentleman behind the bar was doing everything besides cooking LOL. He took our orders, served the food and made our drinks. A waitress didn't arrive until we were closing out our check. For apps we had beef empanadas and broiled clams. The clams were amazing!!! The sauce was amazing!!! For my meal I had the round steak w/ onions and my BF had the twin porkchops. The porkchops were some of the smallest I've ever seen to the point it didn't look like it was actually two. The porkchops were flavorful but he was still hungry after finishing the plate. I also had a whiskey sour which without a doubt was the BEST whiskey sour I've ever had. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice. With additional staff I think the experience would've been smoother.
