Any time we needed something, he was ready to grab it for us, whether it was another drink, or napkins for me to clean up when I spilled. The moment I closed the menu, a server was right there ready to take our order. It was really busy when we visited, so we expected a wait for our food, but no, 10 minutes later our omelette and eggs Benedict arrived. A few minutes after that, the owner stopped by to chat, and we learned how they were able to open the restaurant so quickly. (Turns out it wasn't quick at all, they'd been looking for a location for quite some time.) We were so impressed that we went back two days later for a late afternoon sandwich. The Village was already thriving, but with Martha's here, it just keeps getting better.

Another update... removing another 2 stars :( I don't get it. I just keep having problems with this place. Every time I think "ok, I'll give this place another chance" they screw something up again. This last time I ordered an avocado and arugula salad, and they forgot the avocado on it. The last time before this we ordered 2 crab cakes and they only gave us one (even though we paid for two). I called last night after I got home and realized the avocado was missing from my $20 salad, and was told the manager would call me today. Well it's 12:30 and still no phone call. Again I don't get it. I know that things happen from time to time but the constant lack of attention to detail by the chefs in the kitchen is ridiculous. This is my last time spending another dollar at this place. Good riddance. read more

It's awight. I'm gonna have to give it a few more goes to really take it in, but it's nice to have a place that has fish and salad that's in the hood and is reasonably priced. Tip: Put salsa on your salad to flavor it up. The grilled zucchini was a good look. Mahi Mahi Earth Salad was a bit bland, but it could be from my modifications (No dressing - just oil, no fruit - staying away from sugar.) Want to try the fish tacos and fried stuff. Location is a bit funky - Drove by it a million times til finally, after two years of them being open, I hit it. And it came up in here in a Yelp search for "Fish". I'll keep you posted. read more

I ate at Malibu Fish Grill and was concerned when they said their fish was fresh when it tasted like it was frozen. The prices are good but the quality of the fish was poor. I had just paid almost $15 a pound for fresh Mahi Mahi from Santa Monica Seafood last week and then became suspect when Malibu Fish Grill charged $9.49 for their mahi fish plate. I asked the cashier if the mahi was fresh and they assured me that it was - but I totally doubt it. I walked away feeling ripped off! I doubt if I will ever go back again. read more

When I walked in I thought, "Gee, hope the food is okay -- because the atmosphere is nothing special." I was at Malibu Fish Grill on a Tuesday. We love this restaurant... been there many times. The food is great, fresh and tasty. The one thing I can never figure out... if you order hummus as a side dish it DOES NOT COME WITH ANY PITA!!! You have to pay extra for that. This seems either confused or underhanded... either way, it's the only restaurant I've ever seem do this. This place is fine. My husband likes it better than I do. It's just sort of the kind of place that you want to be a hidden gem, and it's not. The fish is frequently overcooked and doesn't have a lot of flavor. The fries also lack flavor. It's never terrible and it's fairly convenient. Very healthy to a certain extent you can still get your fried goodies there if you want. Only dissapointing thing is the miso glaze first couple times I ordered it they gave some watery soy sauce... its a glaze it belongs on the fish. read more

The bread was spot on and so soft and fresh. It was a perfect complement to the flavorful chicken. I loved the sweet and savory flavors of the chicken that was enhanced with the crunchy slaw. The Baja Enchilada soup paired perfectly with sandwich. It had a nice slightly spicy kick that added even more flavor to the meal. Overall, I am so happy to have an Urbane Cafe nearby. I'll definitely be back for more sandwiches!
