I've been coming to Zane's off and on for a few years now, and the quality of the food just keeps getting better. The atmosphere immediately transports you--like stepping into a New York-style restaurant--making it clear you're in an elevated dining environment. The manager, Christine, is an absolute gem. She sets the tone for the entire team and trains her staff to deliver impeccable service every time. Also, best espresso martini on the pier by a mile.

Everything went extremely well this evening while traveling through Hermosa Beach with my friend. We stopped in the most charming part of town and looked up reviews on this application. We were greeted with extremely nice smiles and happy people into an environment of joy and great smells. Daniela or Danielle? Was our waitress and she was sparkling with humor, intelligence, and a wonderful everything else. The most important thing here was the food and it did not disappoint in anyway I had calamari and then the black truffle pasta with shrimp and my friend had the salmon with vegetables. Both were perfectly cooked, spiced and delicious in every way. The beer selection was also important to us and it did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and steer your Body and soul to this restaurant. You will not be disciplined.

Every dish was a winner. Great ambience. The grilled artichoke, focaccia made in-house, shrimp scampi, and cocktails were all scrumptious. Service was stellar. Plus we met a couple who sat next to us and made a second date.

Front- bad fish. Back-really really bad fish.

Drinks, service, atmosphere were all great. Then there's the food. Not so great. I was starving, so I was excited when the server told us that focaccia bread was coming out. It was piping hot and looked delicious. It was not. It was so bland. Even with the cheese/herb topping. Does bread need salt?! Because this needed...something. It was just super disappointing. Then for the entrees...I got the eggplant Parmesan. It arrived lukewarm-the cheese on top wasn't even melted all the way. It tasted good, so I guess there's that. My friend got the sea bass. It was a perfect oval shape like it had been processed and pressed into a mould. It was stringy and tough. The butter sauce had good flavor, but the fish was just BAD. The bartender offered to have the chef cook another one but it was equally as bad. It at least looked like fish, but still had a tough stringy texture. The bartender took it off our bill but did not seem surprised that we returned it to the kitchen. The drinks were delicious and the appetizer (zucchini) was really good. But I'd stop at that point knowing what I know now. Drinks, apps-yes. Entrees-no.

Came here on Valentine's Day for the first time. They had a set menu that day. I ordered the filet mignon and my gf ordered the butter squash ravioli. I told the waitress I wanted medium rare, but instead it was well done. Barely any redness and blood. The texture was a bit rough and dry, but it was seasoned well with salt and pepper. I enjoyed eating the side broccoli and fried potatoes it came with. I give it a 6/10. As for the butternut squash ravioli, I'll give it 4/10. We didn't expect it to be sweet. The overall flavor was unique, but it didn't fit our preference for savory and salty food. In addition, there was like only like 6 to 7 pieces of ravioli. Price didn't fit well with the dish. For appetizers we had the calamari. The batter was okay. It wasn't crispy enough like we hope, but the orange mayo sauce had a nice touch to it. I'll give it a 6/10. Overall, the whole experience and ambiance was cool. Food looks good and taste average. Customer services was good and friendly. Would come back here again with friends.

Tiny place on the inside but more space in their outdoor dining/parklet space. Definitely great food! Their bread was also delicious and had 3 different dips :) The lobster ravioli was tasty and not overly fishy! The pink sauce wasn't too creamy and was delicious! The scallops were cooked wonderfully and the cauliflower purée was surprisingly flavorful! I would possibly return but probably won't dine inside - it's warm, very cramped and humid compared to outside... Their restrooms definitely see the wear and tear of so many people using them. The mens had a broken lock and the womens was partially flooded, with water puddles on the floor, and out of soap. Parking is also difficult during the summer months but there's a structure nearby that more likely has spaces for the cooler months.

Florescent lights, shabby wood tables and chairs, plastic menus. This could either be really good or really bad. The bread feels stale and was hard. The butter is individually wrapped. Smashed dirty straws were served with drinks. Huge portions of decent food. The more you eat the more you realize it's not great. Definitely needs salt and pepper but the pepper shakers barely let anything out. I asked for parm (they do not offer!) and they gave it in plastic individual containers which was honestly offensive. Dessert was a huge miss, the creme brûlée was super eggy???? The tiramisu had like a sour milk after taste. My stomach immediately hurt before even leaving the restaurant. The vibes are overall not great and neither is the food. $160 for 3 people to eat. 2 stars are for the server who made a huge effort to accommodate us.

We started with cocktails. I had the Mary Sue ("Pornstar Martini") with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, salted lime, fino sherry, and champagne foam. YUM. Dangerously good. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast. Delicious and a generous portion. I ordered Coop's Pork Shank with Lambrusco-mustard glaze, aromatic jus, and potato purée. Tender, flavorful, and that broth was incredible. It paired perfectly with the broccolini... ...which we didn't order. We spotted the table next to us enjoying it with burrata and immediately added it to our "next time" list. My son ordered the Chicken Parm with capellini. He loved the huge chicken parm portion, which successfully fed his bottomless teenage appetite, but declared the pasta "too eggy." Teenagers are basically unpaid Michelin critics. My husband ordered the Scarpinocc with braised beef cheek, brown butter, sage, and saba. He loved it, but our resident food critic chimed in with, "I don't really taste the beef." Dessert was the cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and caramel drizzle--absolutely worth saving room for. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left happy (and full enough to feed a small submarine crew). Definitely coming back!

The pasta was clearly homemade, and you could tell it was fresh, but the actual flavors were very underwhelming. For a place specializing in Italian cuisine, we expected a lot more punch. They do not give you free refills on drinks, which is ridiculous at this price point--refills should absolutely be included. To make matters worse, you do not get free bread for the table either. Overall, we did not like this restaurant. Between the underwhelming food and being nickel-and-dimed for basic things like bread and drink refills, it is definitely not worth the price tag. I immediately took the plate to the manager and he was apologetic and offered to "comp everything" or remake the dish. My wife was still hungry so she opted to have it remade. For me, the experience was ruined. I couldn't finish my meal, while my wife ate most of her remade meal. Once we got the check, my wife's meal was removed.
