Only had shrimp scampi happy hour / social hour for $16. It doesn't come with pasta but it does have juices to dip bread in or take home to make some pasta. The bread no longer comes with the 3 dips. But it is good and free. Ambience. Outdoor seating is nice on a nice day to watch foot traffic. Indoors seemed a bit more formal. Next door is an ice cream shop with giant connect 4 that the kiddos can play with if dine outdoors. Everything went extremely well this evening while traveling through Hermosa Beach with my friend. We stopped in the most charming part of town and looked up reviews on this application. We were greeted with extremely nice smiles and happy people into an environment of joy and great smells. Daniela or Danielle? Was our waitress and she was sparkling with humor, intelligence, and a wonderful everything else. The most important thing here was the food and it did not disappoint in anyway I had calamari and then the black truffle pasta with shrimp and my friend had the salmon with vegetables. Both were perfectly cooked, spiced and delicious in every way. The beer selection was also important to us and it did not disappoint. Drinks, service, atmosphere were all great. Then there's the food. Not so great. I was starving, so I was excited when the server told us that focaccia bread was coming out. It was piping hot and looked delicious. It was not. It was so bland. Even with the cheese/herb topping. Does bread need salt?! Because this needed...something. It was just super disappointing. Then for the entrees...I got the eggplant Parmesan. It arrived lukewarm-the cheese on top wasn't even melted all the way. It tasted good, so I guess there's that. My friend got the sea bass. It was a perfect oval shape like it had been processed and pressed into a mould. It was stringy and tough. The butter sauce had good flavor, but the fish was just BAD. The bartender offered to have the chef cook another one but it was equally as bad. It at least looked like fish, but still had a tough stringy texture. The bartender took it off our bill but did not seem surprised that we returned it to the kitchen. The drinks were delicious and the appetizer (zucchini) was really good. My Salsicce Blanco was a big disappointment with no nuance to it. It was a very large heap of pasta and way too much sausage and broccoli being used instead of broccolini and all the parts of the stems were cut up and included. Came here on Valentine's Day for the first time. They had a set menu that day. I ordered the filet mignon and my gf ordered the butter squash ravioli. I told the waitress I wanted medium rare, but instead it was well done. Barely any redness and blood. The texture was a bit rough and dry, but it was seasoned well with salt and pepper. I enjoyed eating the side broccoli and fried potatoes it came with. I give it a 6/10. As for the butternut squash ravioli, I'll give it 4/10. We didn't expect it to be sweet. The overall flavor was unique, but it didn't fit our preference for savory and salty food. In addition, there was like only like 6 to 7 pieces of ravioli. Price didn't fit well with the dish. For appetizers we had the calamari. The batter was okay. It wasn't crispy enough like we hope, but the orange mayo sauce had a nice touch to it. I'll give it a 6/10. Update: After my review of Zane's Restaurant. My wife and I kept going back because we love the food, drinks and ambiance as well as the workers there. BTW, yes we sat at the bar and yes Chris the bartender was there. After getting to know him I must say that of the many restaurants that we patronize in and around Hermosa Beach that he is one of our favorite bartender's. I see how busy he can get making drinks when the place is crowded and he does it with ease. Zane's is a great place for drinks or drinks and dinner. Their menu is large and varied. Our party oh 8 had various entrees ranging from tenderloin cheeseburger, strip steak, sea bass, scallops, linguini and clams etc. the service was excellent and the ambiance was festive and lively. Like any Hermosa Beach restaurant you've got limited parking so you may have to hunt for a spot or go to the public parking lot on Hermosa Ave. Reservations are suggested. Give it a try. read more

Tiny place on the inside but more space in their outdoor dining/parklet space. Definitely great food! Their bread was also delicious and had 3 different dips :) The lobster ravioli was tasty and not overly fishy! The pink sauce wasn't too creamy and was delicious! The scallops were cooked wonderfully and the cauliflower purée was surprisingly flavorful! I would possibly return but probably won't dine inside - it's warm, very cramped and humid compared to outside... Their restrooms definitely see the wear and tear of so many people using them. The mens had a broken lock and the womens was partially flooded, with water puddles on the floor, and out of soap. Parking is also difficult during the summer months but there's a structure nearby that more likely has spaces for the cooler months. read more

We had a fantastic evening at Zane's. Delicious food from appetizers to desserts and of course our main dishes were really good. Pizza was also delicious. Friendly staff and wonderful ambience too. Only thing keeping me from 5 stars was the wait for food. To be fair, it was a very busy Friday night. This place used to be one of my fav spots. Went Sunday they are open till 2am. Was sitting by the glass window got to see a street brawl up close. First time back after the pandemic. The seafood is good here so I got the marinara rotto and a good glass of bud light to open up the taste bud and refresh feel Not sure if you guys know drink a light beer helps open the taste buds. Also they served the bread as usual, trade mark for them and it was yum. We did not get the three sauces that are normally given. Not sure if we didn't get it as we went near kitchen closing. I've been here twice now and 5/5 each time without a doubt. The first time had reservations at a restaurant nearby at 7:30 with plans to catch the sunset beforehand but there was no sun! So rerouted to try and find a happy hour nearby and landed at Zane's because I had a calamari craving. Squeezed in at the side bar with my girl 10 min before HH ended, grabbed a martini and G&T quick and easy and got our calamari maybe 15 min after. Perfect. Came back tonight after a day out at Hermosa. Made a 5:45 res for an outdoor table because we had chairs, a cooler, beach stuff, etc. And our experience was just as ideal. Service top tier, drinks spectacular and food just right. I've read a lot of past reviews of this place and I can say objectively they seem to take any critiques to heart and make the changes people want. I can 1000% stand behind a business like this. I look forward to being a regular here and bringing friends when they come to visit. read more

Start with the wonderful complimentary homemade loaf of bread that comes with 3 dipping sauces... hummus, oil and balsamic, and an amazing olive tapenade. The skirt steak with chimichurri was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a nice char. The sea bass was light flaky and delicious. It came with asparagus and roasted fingerling potatoes that were very nice. The crispy Brussel Sprouts were the star of the show. They were deep fried to a perfect crisp and were light like clouds and packed full of flavor. The truffle tater tots were a fun side to share. Indoor and outdoor dining available. We've been to Zane's several times since we are local to the area and it is usually a pleasant experience. We were recently there for a birthday dinner and they fell flat. The bad: - Our reservation was for 7pm but we weren't seated until 7:30. - We were a party of 10 and some entrees were brought out 10 minutes after the rest of the table was served. - I ordered a skirt steak cooked black and blue (just seared) and it came out well done. - My girlfriend also ordered the skirt steak well done and it also was not correctly cooked. The good: - They brought out another skirt steak to replace the incorrectly cooked one although at that point I declined since people had already been eating for 20 minutes. My family and I tried this place on July 7th and our waitress was Christine M. We were a party of 7 (including a 6 year old) and when it came to paying our check, it's then I realized why she didn't deliver a proper customer service that didn't occur to me earlier. 20% is automatically added to the bill when it's a large party of 6 or more. Explains why she never checked in, and when requested for something, she would be cold in her response, and as she gave the check, she walked away mid sentence when telling us about the automatic 20%. The worst part, we ordered a caesar salad and I forgot to ask Christine if the dressing has chopped anchovies (some places have it, some don't). As mentioned earlier, she hardly came by to check in so I ended up asking the Host, and she said she'll check in with the kitchen and get back to us. Later, the waitress Christine came back to get the additional orders and since the host hadn't come back yet, I asked Christine the same question and with cold response, she said no it doesn't have fish in it and her facial expression really bothered me with how she responded. Luckily, right at that moment, the host returned and confirmed that the dressing DOES HAVE anchovies in it. So imagine that. Had we relied on the waitress, that didn't bother to get her facts straight or check in with the kitchen, we would've ate it when one of our family members is allergic to fish. She did not deserve that 20% tip. read more

I have been wanting to try Zane's happy hour for a while now. The happy hour is every Monday-Friday from 5-6:30PM, which is perfect for those who want to do happy hour at a later time than the typical 3-6PM type of places. It is a solid 4 out of 5 star happy hour experience based on food and price. I shared the parmesan fries, truffle tots, and burger between 2 people and it was more than enough food. The truffle tots was the best dish of the night by far. When it came to the table, it looked piping hot. Knowing damn well how hot it was, I still took the risk of eating it. I was exhaling steam and it was super crispy. The tots were full of truffle flavor and there was a nice big portion to share. I would come back to Zane's happy hour for just the tots honestly. I'd likely skip the parmesan fries next time since it was not especially crunch nor flavorful. The burger was decent, but it is not enough to bring me back to the restaurant.
