Oh my god, the food here was horrible. Me and my girlfriend came here because of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives; I now know I will never trust Guy (still bleaching my hair like it's cool) Fieri again. I saw the episode and I was like "what the hell it's only up the street from where I live." What a tragic mistake that was... I got there and the interior was pretty nice (that's all they have going for them) and I noticed a bunch of pictures of celebrities that have eaten there before and who have no idea what good Italian food tastes like. I mean, how can I go wrong, right? Me and my girlfriend ordered the calamari as an appetizer to start, and when we got it we noticed it was very fishy tasting like it was bad. Then we ordered our meal, we had the veal cannoli. It came with clam chowder that had the funkiest taste ever, and I mean, I freakin' love clam chowder, man. It was weird tasting, like it was sweet rather than savory. When the veal cannoli pasta came it was the best of the other things we tried. Granted, this is comparable to eating a dog turd that doesn't have flies on it. The veal had a weird gamey taste and the pasta was bland. Well anyways, the food sucked. Went here purely on the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives reccomendation. I have a really cool app that has all the restaurants that have been featured on the show and I was in Anaheim, so I said what the hey? DO NOT BOTHER with this place... Truthfully, the place looks like it got on TV, then just kinda rode the wave and got lazy. I am not sure how it was ever good enough to be featured, but I trust the show so I am going to go with the laziness factor. The food was so generic, no love was put in, they were just cranking it out. Most of it tasted like it was previously frozen. It was definitely upsetting. Like many people, I seen this on DDD, I went to disneyland with my wife and thought, "hey, remember the italian place we seen on DDD?" She remembered, so i looked on yelp and i seen the reviews and they were kind of mixed, so I didnt think it would be that bad, after all, it was on DDD! On DDD, Guy tried the Domery sauce and when it is made, the owner puts a handful of sausage and a handful of clams so I thought it must be pretty good, when I tried it, I thought it was a joke and I was waiting for the real plate to come out! To call this place Italian, it was a joke. The sauce tasted straight out of a can, there were only like 3 teeny tiny baby clams and you could barely taste the sausage. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce honestly had no other flavor other than tomato. My wife got the "Mama trio" pasta dish that had lasagna and two other types of pasta and it was terrible. The lasagna tasted like Stouffer's but worse! There was no cheese on top and it was ladled with the "Mama" sauce, pasta, and ricotta cheese. Im not the world's greatest cook, but my food isnt terrible and I can make better lasagna in my sleep with a decent bolognese....simple but flavorful, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, tomatoes, white whine, milk, spices, let it simmer and your basically done, it is far superior, so why Moma Cozza's uses their bland house sauce is beyond me! The garlic bread tasted like the "Texas Toast" you can buy in the freezer section of the grocery store, it had little to no garlic flavor and was bland. Trust most of the bad reviews on here, this place is not good, bland sauce, bland garlic bread, what is this place good for? A nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. The kind of place my parents used to take the family to. We were in the mood for Italian Sausage sandwiches and we knew this was the place. I asked if I could get 1/2 meatball, 1/2 sausage. No problem. It came out with a full order of meatball and full order of sausage. The sandwich was huge. A full bar. In my book, cocktails are a requirement for a good dinner. I can do without if I have to, but I like being able to sip a nice wet gin martini prior to eating. It's part of the total experience. We've been a couple of times and have always had a good meal. haven't tried the pizza yet but I've seen it brought out to other tables and looks delicious. For everything written above the place gets 4 stars. But they earned a 5th... I was offered an anisette after dinner. My grandfather was born in Italy. You would be better off buying a Stouffer's frozen lasagna. Trust... Extremely generic in taste and to top off this fabulous dining experience it was COLD. Bread was horrible and hard as a rock, yummy! When we called over the server to let her know that it was below satisfactory and to please take it away, she came back to let us know that her manager said that they would only CHARGE US HALF PRICE for the meal!! The portion was so small to start off with that it only took 3 bites to strike ice; secondly are you kidding me! My wife and I are huge fans of Italian food, and love trying new places. We had driven past Mama Cozza's and from the outside it looks like one of those dive places that may have some killer grub. So, we decided one night to place a take out order... we looked up their menu online and found some favorites to try. I ordered Lasagna and my wife ordered Chicken Marsala. Once I returned home with our bounty, my wife couldn't wait for her dinner... We opened our respective meals, my lasagna was very "meh". Whatever, not bad, but I have had frozen lasagna that was way better... I look at my wife as she takes her first bite, and the look on her face when she bit into the Chicken Marsala was one you would associate with changing a newborns poopy diaper... and my wife isn't one to swear, but her comment (with that same look on her face) was "What the F is this?" I asked if it was the wrong order... she said she didn't know what it was. I gave it a try and it tasted like something that would be in the aforementioned diaper. It was TERRIBLE! Not just bad, but TERRIBLE. I promptly called the restaurant and talked to the owner/chef. I told him my displeasure with the meal, and he went on to tell me how it was made vs how other Italian restaurants would make theirs, and how the taste may be different... well, a different "taste" is a far cry from it tasting like... you know. The owner said I could come back and he would make me another one or something else... I said no, because I wasn't in the mood to drive 1/2 hour round trip, and requested he refund that meal to my credit card... not the entire order, just that particular meal... well, he basically said they can't do that, etc, blah blah, whatever. Shoulda checked Yelp... Went on DDD's recommendation alone and paid the price. We (party of six made up of my two daughters, my wife, and my parents) went on a Monday night. Arrived around 6:45 and had a 15 minute wait before seated. No problem; smelled great. Ordered around 7:15. I get heartburn easily, so I went with a white sauce. Linguini and clam sauce to be specific. I added salad with blue cheese and the minestrone soup. First came the soup. Delicious. Nice beefy broth and plenty of beans and pasta. Then, the calamari appetizer. Again... Delicious. I was prepared to be amazed by the main course. Around 8:00... After a long wait... we got our salads. No biggie, we weren't in a rush and great food is worth waiting for. The salad was fresh... And the kidney and garbanzo beans were a nice touch. The dressing was decent. And then... Waiting....waiting.... Waiting... Looking longingly at others eating their food. The waitress came in around 8:45 to let us know the lamb shank my dad ordered takes time,because it's made to order. Okay... Finally the food starts coming around 9:00. The kids are pretty much out... But sleep shove a piece of pizza and some spaghetti into their mouths. My linguini arrives. I dig in. It's like I've been punked. Bland as can be. It looks right. The portion is huge. But it's Not Good. The consensus comes from around the table. Everyone trying to like their meals, but nobody really does. My mom's veal cutlet was pretty good and my daughter's cheese pizza was decent, but the rest was just blah. Like the secret ingredient(s) were missing. So, two and a half hours after arriving, we left tired and disappointed. Been coming here all my life since I grew up lass than a mile away.. The food is great and the pizza is on of the top pies in Orange County. I suggest sausage with extra sauce done well. It's so friggin' good. Sometimes the service is a bit soft, but they always come through in the end, so don't get weirded out by the "laid back" style of the place and it's servers. The biggest disappointment from yelp. ever. wtf mate? I was expecting decent let alone spectacular pizza. I make pizza at home that tastes infinitely better. And why is my pizza better? I love Mama Cozza's! This is my go-to spot anytime I'm craving Italian. My family has been coming here as far back as I can remember. We've also rented out the banquet room for Christmas Eve parties multiple times, and I've been to a baby shower and a wedding reception here. So I'm not kidding when I say I'm a regular. My favorite dish is the penne in vodka sauce, but everything I've ordered has been great. Their pizza is awesome and their sandwiches are good, too. All the entrees come with soup AND salad, and their portion sizes are verrrrry generous. I always leave stuffed and have practically a full meal left over. Their minestrone soup is flavorful and their salad comes with all the fixings including kidney beans and croutons. They end your meal with a complimentary shot of anisette and orange slices, a perfect dessert. The decor is just like everyone describes it - home-y and old school. I love the red checkered tablecloths! They have live music in the bar on the weekends and they show sports games on the TVs in there. In my experience the food comes out quickly and the servers are friendly. I disagree with a lot of the other reviews on this place..if you've only been once and didn't like it, you should give it another chance. I know I'll keep going back. read more

Mama Cozza's is a mom and pop restaurant where most of the food is made in house and the atmosphere screams that warmth, 'homey' feeling. Though I could give this place some decor update tips, I think it accomplishes the thought its name instills in your mind. About the food.. Stuffed Mushrooms - I've definitely had better. The crab and shrimp stuffing lacked lots of flavor and texture and the sauce it was in was overpowered by wine. 2 STARS Bruschetta - Very good.. refreshing and flavorful but nothing special. 3 STARS Rigatoni w/ Domery Sauce - The domery sauce is the mama sauce (homemade marinara) with sausage and clams. It surprisingly mixed together well and I loved the sauce. You can see how they make this dish on their website via triple D. 4 STARS Cannoli - The mascarpone stuffing threw me off a bit at first because of the texture but it grew on me quickly. Like a mixture between whipped cream and coffee cheesecake. 3 STARS Lemon Cake - DELICIOUS. Very moist and great flavor. 5 STARS So the food averages 3.5 stars topped with 4 star service.. Really wanted to try this place because I love Food Network, and saw this on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives (DDD). And this was one of my worst decisions ever! I took my friends here after a long day at Disneyland, and this place was a sure disappointment. After hyping up the restaurant, telling them about the great reviews that the show gave, needless to say, I was embarrassed. All of the food we ordered was tasteless, soupy, and downright disgusting. Its really depressing to say that about any food, but the food experience and service we received should be illegal. We weren't looking for something super fancy, but man it seemed as if they put gruel on a plate and served it. Why must it be so hard to find good Italian food?!?! I got SICK from eating here. It was easy to pinpoint. I had a danish for breakfast, a couple of cookies and no lunch though the day because I was saving up to come to this place. Guy Fieti recommended it so I was anxious to give it a try. Service was nice , food was lackluster at minimum. Very little flavor. About 90 minutes after going there I felt my stomach expanding, and then spent the next two hours in unpleasant bathroom sessions. It spoiled my evening, I was in a music rehearsal at a costly studio and could make no progress on the music. I immediately wrote them a letter, including a couy of my receipt and just asked for a refund. Never heard from them. That is such poor customer relations, now I will tell the story everywhere. It is so different than "In-and Out". I got a cold burger one night (didn't get sick), complained to In and Out who sent me a coupon for the free dinner of my choice along with 3 personal phone calls and 2 emails to make sure I was happy. Maybe Cozza's has lived on its' reputation for a long time, but now there is a lot better. And Guy recommending it.....all I can say is that he must get free food or has lost his touch or both ! Get out of Disneyland at 9 and we picked this place since I had driven by it a bunch of times coming down Beach Blvd to Ball and passed by going East towards Disneyland. It looked authentic and small scale, which are the type of Italian places I liked. We Yelped the reviews before heading here that night, and saw that Guy Fieri and DDD had visited. This is normally a NO BRAINER for me when I see this but I did notice the stark contrast and delineation in the reviews between those people that liked this place and many of them that felt it sucked. The 3 average with 200+ reviews is pretty damning too. I mentioned the above to the patrons when we arrived at the restaurant but they assured me that *you can't trust Yelp* and that Guy continues to come here with his family, so I said meh, let's give it a try. Plus my wife and niece were in it to win it with me, hungry, and my 3 year old was sleeping so we didn't have much choice. We waited about 5 mins for a booth/table and were pleasantly surprised by the wait stuff up until that point. Waters came out quickly, but we waited until we got our meal to get bread. This is a big no no in my book. I asked the wait staff what Guy normally gets and was told he loves the Domery sauce, so I gave it a shot with some Rigatoni. My wife got Canneloni and my niece got wheat pasta with basic Marinara sauce. Before the main course, they brought soup and salad, which was nice. The soup came out quickly (likely sitting in a vat), but was good and minestrone like. My niece and wife thought it was can-like :) but I thought it was OK. The salad took a while longer to come out, which was annoying b/c I would have liked to have them at the same time. The nice part was that I had my cherry coke refilled about 3 times in between so they were at least paying attention to that. OK, so by the time our food came out, 45 mins later, we all were pretty full from the soup/salad and multiple refills on our drinks. My rigatoni was cooked perfect al dente, but my domery sauce was a bit too clamy for my taste. My wife's canneloni was decent, but nothing to write home about and my niece's wheat pasta and marinara could have used half a shaker of pepper and salt since it had about zero flavor. Disappointing because I don't know what Guy was smoking when he came to this place and did a feature on DDD. It has decent Italian atmosphere, the servers and wait staff are friendly, but nothing out of the ordinary, and the food is pretty average. I wish i could give this place ZERO stars. People, read the reviews. So I just had check out what all the hype was about. Before I even saw them on DDD, I already heard people talk about how awesome this place was. They've been around a long time, and honestly I simply cannot figure out why. Took my family in for dinner after a day at Disneyland. The place was empty, minus a family in the front room, a couple in the bar, and another couple in the dining room where we were seated. The hostess was nice enough, the place looks like a hole in the wall kind of restaurant. Hole in the wall is ok, IF everything about the place is good. First of all, the place looks dark and a bit dingy. Guy Fieri has a signed poster in the front, so you have high hopes for this place. Then you realize Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible should come by for a makeover. The tables are covered with vinyl picnic print table cloths. If that isn't bad enough, they are faded, dirty, and have holes in them. The whole place needs to be revamped, or at least painted, cleaned, and table cloths burned. Our server...I'm not too sure, but whoever she was, sucked. Harsh? I don't know how else to explain it. Our water was never refilled by her. We had to ask other staff for more. I got my salad to start, an antipasta salad. Instead of saying that there was already dressing in it, she points to the side of dressing and says "they already SPRINKLED some Italian dressing on top." Now when you hear that sentence you think it was "sprinkled" not drowning with dressing. I proceed to put the dressing in my salad not knowing there was already a pool of it in the bowl. So now my mouth and throat are burning from the vinegar, and I see that my salad is literally a soup of dressing. Hubby ordered the lasagna and I ordered "Guy Fieri's favorite, linguini with Domery Sauce" which is ground sausage with clams. Let me tell you that either 1) Guy has no taste buds, 2) he was paid to say it was delicious, 3) whoever the cook was for the day never heard of salt. Hubby also didn't like his lasagna as it was just as bland and tasteless as my dish was. Now, I have seen some reviews that say something a long the lines of, "it depends on who is in the kitchen." It shouldn't matter who is cooking that day, it should be consistent. Of note, our waitress never came back for anything except to give us our check. She pretty much stood around and talked her mouth off with other staff members. Again....this place was empty. So we will not be returning. Meh...cannot believe this place was featured on Triple DDD. I feel like I was bait & switched, because the food I saw being prepared on the show was NOT the same quality and caliber I experienced. The sauce was bland and tasted like it came from a can, though I've had Ragu and Prego that tasted better. The "garlic" bread was not very garlicky, and looked/tasted exactly like the Texas Toast I can get at the grocery store. And don't even get me started on the nasty breadsticks on the table...seriously, who would eat those? God only knows who's been touching before I got there, and how long they've been sitting out exposed on the table! Ugh! Sorry, but I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. I am a HUGE fan of Mama Cozzas! Came here after watching Triple D and normally, I am disappointed with Guy's recommendations so maybe I came here not expecting much but even just by the other reviews I can say that I had an entirely different experience and loved it! Friday night, no reservations, got here around 6 p.m. Party of 2, we were seated in about 15 minutes. As soon as we were seated we were promptly greeted with a plate of munchies. Celery sticks, carrot sticks, and some delicious peppers. Appetizer - deep fried ravioli $10. Served with marinara sauce, I piled some Parmesan cheese and some peppers and thought these were great. Don't think I'd order them again but was definitely satisfied with flavor and quality. Soups - Minestrone was pretty good. I am not a fan of overkill with kidney beans and this was not overkill so I was happy. Clam Chowder was a bit watered down and lacked sodium... Salads - Basic. Meal: Penne-like pasta with the Domery sauce, served with soup and salad. $15. The Domery sauce was OK. It didn't blow me away and make me drool the same way it did when I watched it on Triple D. But it was good. Eggplant Parmigiana - SOOO GOOD. This would keep me coming back. Best eggplant parmigiana I've ever had, it definitely stole the show and I fell in love. We left with hefty left-overs and definitely plan on coming back to try some more. Our waitress was quick, attentive and friendly. There was also a boy who came around taking our plates and refilling our drinks as soon as we set an empty plate to the side or took the last sip of our drinks. We went around 1PM for lunch. They seemed very surprised to see us and even looked worried. Like walking into a private club and not knowing the secret password. Half the restaurant was empty and we were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait, huh? There was an empty table just inside the main room. After staring at all the old pics on the walls for a while, they seated us at that empty table. We did get some water, wooden bread sticks fresh from the forest and the saddest "antipasto" tray ever. Since when are carrot sticks, celery sticks, dead pepperoncini considered antipasto? No waitress yet in sight. Finally the hostess in the white T shirt said the waitress would be there when we were ready but if we were ready now she would take our order, another huh? I had salad and shells with Mama meat sauce and Bob had lasagna and salad. The salad was fresh and decent tasting. Finally we saw an actual waitress who brought our main course and pretended to be our bestest friend. Where had she been, McDonalds? I had a giant bowl of giant pasta shells and sauce. The sauce looked and tasted like it had been a very long week. Bob said his lasagna was OK. The garlic toast was decent. We finished and paid the bill. No need to ever go back again. The food was ok here but given all the hype and the prices, it was a bit of a let down as nothing was turly amazing. The sauce was a bit too tangy for my taste and the pasta was barely cooked...slightly too firm to bite. The service was decent. Folks here were nice enough. I am a true fan of Momma Cozza's, but I may be a little biased as I took my husband here on our first date purely for the ambience. My family has been coming here since they opened, which may be due to the fact my dad worked down the street at the time. Now for a little honesty on one of my favorite places: 1. This place is hit and miss. It really depends on which server and cook you get when you come in. If Frank Sr. or Frank Jr. is on the line, you Know it's going to be prepared well. Some servers seem to forget they have a job and are supposed to be waiting on you and not talking to the other girls up front, while others are super attentive. (Even my husband and I have left in a huff a few times due to lack of service and/or food not cooked well.) 2. Yes, bread does not come before the meal. Bread is not free here. Their garlic bread comes with the entree, and is best eaten dipped in sauce. Can't stand their bread dry. 3. Do NOT order marinara. If you want marinara, order the Momma Sauce. This is their own specialized recipe of marinara, and it comes with large chunks of seasoned vegetables in it. So good. 4. I have never tried their veal or seafood. Just not a fan. However, their chicken raviolis and chicken parmesan are always good, especially if ordered with Momma Sauce or Alfredo. The chicken is always tenderized and well prepared, even if Frank is off that day. Sometimes it seems that the best part of the meal is the steamed broccoli that comes with it. (Side note: I could eat a bowl of their shells with alfredo any day.) 5. Prices have risen steeply since their showing on Triple D. A chicken parmesan dinner was $13.99 when I first took my husband here (2005), and it's now at $17.99. We hate paying that much for a meal unless we're both ravenous. The portions are large, so we feel less bad when we're actually able to eat all of it. I suggest ordering a la carte or arriving in time for their cheaper lunch menu. 6. Pizza is so-so. Husband enjoys the white pizza, but everything else is on par with all other pizza parlors, IMO. 7. Minestrone = good. It's even better when it's been simmering for a few hours and the flavors have really had a chance to marry together. Egg drop = meh. I wish I could say I was surprised with the low reviews given below.. But again, it all depends on who you get when you walk through the door. My opinion? Ask if Frank Jr. is on the line. I can't believe this place made it on the Food Network show DDD?!?! This place is overpriced and has bad service. FOOD.... I ordered a very simple fettucine with Alfredo sauce. My pasta was drowned in sauce to the point I could not see any pasta! The sauce had an "almost" good taste but was extremely heavy. I had 3 bites and felt like I couldnt tolerate anymore, so I picked at my boyfriends dish. BF had the Chicken Parmigian. The chicken was breaded and fried but very tender and moist. The spaghetti had more water than sauce on it. It was just bad. The place has a nice homey Italian feel to it but the food sucks. Even the garlic bread tasted processed. Such a shame. SERVICE.... I could not believe this server (name was Norma) I wish I would of had the guts to say something at the time but I was afraid they would spit in my food, Eminem style with a loogie. Looks like a old italian mobster type of place...really dark inside, with old decor...even pictures of the Anaheim RAMS when they used to play in Anaheim. I used to live by the older location before they moved to this newer location (even though that's been many years). But I had not tried it in all my years...until a few months ago before a run. We were in the area, and couldn't find an Italian joint...so i said, hey wanna try this place out? It's like a restaurant out in the middle of a street (not part of a strip mall or anything) and since the parking is out in the back, it didn't seem as if it was crowded. So......we were a bit hesitant to go in, but go in we did. Boy were we surprised....it was packed, and they even had an old school lounge/bar area with some live music playing. we opted for the quieter restaurant seating and ordered a medium pizza and spaghetti to share. Spaghetti was good....i mean better then most joints but not something that made me go wow. Now the Pizza was another story...it must be the sauce or something, but was it good! Now I get cravings for their pizza! And the prices were pretty reasonable.... as the previous reviewer stated...it's not a fancy dancy place...it's also good for a group outing as well. read more

Note: Rating based on staff, we never actually got to eat. Got a table within 10 mins of getting there. Busboy bought us some water which did not taste right. Looked over the menu and was shocked by the prices. $17 for chicken fettuccine alfredo and $12 for a small 8" cheese pizza. Prices seemed really high to me. Not sure how this place has all this hype. From the building itself, service, food and staff.. It's all mediocre at best. Last night we went here with some friends after they saw it on DDD's with Guy Fiery and having high expectations was probably the worst thing we could've done. We had calamari and bruschetta for appetizers. Calamari tasted extra fishy and as if they were left in the fryer to soak up the oil afterwards. The bruschetta was amazing!! I should've just ordered another one for my meal. Lol. For dinner I had linguine with mama sauce. Ehh the pasta wasn't cooked well enough and still mushy. No one at the table ate more than half of their meal, but they were happy because their dogs were gonna have leftovers! The waitress was pretty abrupt about ordering and not very helpful in ordering of being patient when ordering. Like they wanted us in and outve there. We came here with good friends last night for dinner. I ordered the prime rib, husband ordered scallops and angle hair, boys had chic parm sand and the burger. This by far is the best prime rib I've ever had. Not sure why it only has 3 stars, but I'm hoping my 5* brings it up some. We will be back for sure!! read more

As a Triple D fan, I decided to try this place out... This placed was packed and there was a wait... It looks like it's been there for a long time and the interior was old... They did have a bar inside with an area for live music? The Food... Hmm... Tried the Lasagna and the Domery sauce (sausage, red sauce, clams, garlic...) with fettuccini... The Lasagna was ok, it had a lot of sauce with it which is good, I don't like a dry Lasagna and the Domery sauce was just ok. The pasta was cooked well. I was utterly unimpressed. read more

Like most reviews, we too went because we saw this on Food Network, and didn't bother reading any reviews before hand. We went out for dinner on a Friday evening. After working in a restaurant for 5 years, I watch for all the little things and was sadly disappointed. Here they are: 1. BAR: Bar tender was crabby, barked at and never smiled to the servers, bus boys or customers. She refilled glasses of peanuts at the bar that people had already eaten from, like a community snack...gross. She made you feel like you were wasting her time. I told my hubby she must work at the Post Office or DMV for her day job. She doesn't realize how she sets the tone for the restaurant. The food servers were reaching over the counter to fill their own sodas and get their own wine. This is a big no no. That is the bartenders job, not the food servers. It was very tacky to watch. There appears to be family and regulars that hang out at half the bar and surrounding tables. Saw both the elderly father and his son that were on the show. They never appeared to be happy, never walked around the restaurant to smile and great their customers, or at least the son could have. 2. FOOD SERVICE: After we were sat we didn't have a food server great us for at least 5 minutes, maybe 10, that was a bummer as I was famished. Once she did, she was amazing and gave us great service, never rushing us. I loved that! 3. FOOD: Was pricey for what we ordered. The sautéed mushroom appetizer was fine, nothing exciting, just good. Mushrooms were fresh, not canned. The fried raviolis were disappointing and appeared to be pre made and frozen, not made by them. Salads were good. Minestrone and clam chowder soups were ok or good, nothing exceptional. I ordered the Domery sauce over rigatoni and it was good, but nothing out of this world like I was hoping it would be. Out of all the food we ate, I enjoyed the sauce the most, but agin it wasn't out of this world. 4. DECOR: It is clean, but out dated. They need Chef Robert Irvine to come for a makeover. He could save this restaurant and help them step up their food quality and overall ambiance. 5. PAYMENT: They don't have a computer system for the food servers to enter their orders. They bring you a hand written check and have a feeling this restaurant is losing a lot of money due to human error. When we received our check it didn't have our beer we ordered at the bar, and the server subtracted the tax instead of added it. They need a computer system! 6. OVERALL AMBIANCE: I never really felt comfortable the whole time we were there. It is a weird atmosphere that is hard to describe. I pray the owners get some help in reviving this place. My first impression was, "I feel like I'm going to see something sketchy go down, but the same time eat some good home style Italian food. I'm not sure how I feel about this place." I ate at Mama Cozza's first when I used their banquet facilities for my organization's end of the year banquet. So my review will be based purely on the service and helpfulness during the process of making my event happen, the food we had buffet style, and the feel of their banquet area. While planning for the banquet, the staff were friendly and helpful in giving us information. The cost was about $15-20 per person to cover for the costs of the using the room and for the food. The buffet included two options of pastas, salads, and dessert. It was mediocre, not disgusting, but not delicious. The service only existed when they brought out the food, when they cleaned up, and when they handed me the tab for the night. That was pretty much it. It looks pretty run down outside, but the inside is completely different whether you're comparing the dining area, or the banquet room. The dining area was sort of dark, and there was also a bar attached to it. The banquet room has a small dance floor, is well lit, and tables that are presentable with white table clothes, silverware, and matching plates and cloth napkins. You really don't need any more decor if you're planning to throw an event here unless it's something you want to put on the walls. The lasting impression? "If location-wise this place is convenient for you, it's not such a bad place to hold your next party. Trust me when I say it's different looking inside than it is outside. But if you're willing to look around a bit more, and you want good food for your guests, I say pass." read more

Somebody needs to submit this place to kitchen nightmares. Honestly I feel bad leaving a bad review because the people are very friendly here! Real Italian vibe in fact you feel like you are eating at home with friends. So much that there are random flavorless crunchy breadsticks provided by Sysco waiting at the table for you ...I went for lunch with my boss on a Thursday and it was dead silent , I mean zero music or TV even on and it was kind of awkward and we could hear the staff arguing about something... The menus had a ton of options and had something physically crossed out with sharpees . Portion size was HUGE!!! Which do people complain about too much food for the value. No ..unless the food is such terrible quality that you would have preferred half the amount and double the quality . I ordered the chicken Marsala ...the sauce and mushrooms were kind of good but the chicken breast seemed straight out of mg lean cuisine .... The salad with Italian dressing tasted like straight olive oil and didnt even have crushed pepper available . Anyways it's safe to say that I will never come back here even though the staff was wonderful because the food was just THat bad and I really hope more people tell this restaurant so they can decrease portion size and increase quality (if its a money issue ) so it doesn't get shut down and these nice people go bankrupt and don't know why . :( read more

**Time-Warp Alert** Oh yeah, 44 years of total funkiness. It so weird to sit there and think how the red flocked wall paper wasn't funky when it was installed. There's all kinds of old autographed celebrity head-shots in the waiting area. Some old sports memorabilia. And, the wall "art" throughout the dining area.....what a trip. Bar area just as funky add-in good live entertainment. Think Bucca de Beppo but "real"....not manufactured for show. +1 Star Anyway, maybe you don't give a damn about the funky decor? Fine, fugettaboutit. Mama Cozza's is a solid 4.5 star experience otherwise. Great service, our server was all business but, we got very good service. Huge Italian sized portion of food, probably the biggest plate of spaghetti ever placed in front of me. Immediately I'm sayin' Rob W. is having spaghetti for lunch tomorrow. Prices are pretty darn reasonable for pasta dishes, especially considering it's a complete meal. About $9-13. gets you soup, "tossed" salad, pasta & garlic cheese toast and 90% of you will take some pasta home! Pizza prices were good too. Other dishes seemed kinda pricey but, I'm sure it's a ton of food? And, the lunch menu is quite a bit less across the board. There were a couple of isolated hiccups. The carrots on the veggie plate they served before the meal were the saddest carrots I've ever seen. I would have felt guilty feeding to my nieces horse. Went here for a friend's birthday the other day and was not impressed. A lot of my friends like to talk about how great this place is, but the only thing that really stands out in my opinion is that its not a chain restaurant. I ordered the Beef Tortelloni and was surprised at how bland the pasta was. You could barely taste any of the meat, and Mama's sauce lacked any real striking flavor. The bread came out late (after we had finished eating dinner late), and you could tell our waitress was not at all happy to be serving a big party of 15. I remember coming here a year ago and getting a good deal on a pitcher while enjoying their pizza, but I could find much better places to drink beer and eat pizza than here. For a chain restaurant, Olive Garden has much better food and service than Mama Cozza's. read more

My bestie and I are total foodies who love the Food Network. We set out to go to every local DDD place Guy Fueri has been to. We went here to celebrate her 21st bday. I can't even believe how much of a disappointment this was. The pizza is the most disturbing disappointment. The crust is so bad it seriously hardened within minutes. We had eggplant Parmesan and ravioli and they were both just okay. The staff was just okay. Over all, this was the second time we had been let down by Guy Fieri. So like many fans of Triple D, I decided to check this place out after seeing it on the show earlier this week. After all, I only live a few miles from the place. The place is small. Parking is ok. There's only a few spaces up front but there's a decent sized lot in back. And if you're lucky, you can hear the neighbor's chicken(s) clucking away. The place was full when we got there so we had to wait about 15~20 minutes for a table. And the placed stayed pretty full throughout the night. Lighting is dark but I've come to expect that nowadays. They have those breadstick/cracker things at each table. We sat at a table against the wall so some of the breadsticks were in contact with the wall. I think another reviewer also mentioned that. But I was more disturbed later in the night when I saw the baby at the table next to us just grab the entire array of breadsticks out of the cup with both hands. Her parents caught on shortly and put them back in the cup. But seeing that made me wonder how many other hands has those breadsticks touched? The service was a bit slow but I'm not sure if that's the norm or if it was because they were busy. After we ordered our food, they brought out a plate of veggies. Like sliced carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes and pickles. I guess that's the appetizer? I ordered the eggplant parmiagiana, my friends ordered a pizza and the combo plate. The eggplant and combo plate came with salad and soup. The minestrone was pretty good. And while the salad was just a salad, I enjoyed it. They added 2 types of beans to the salad which I don't see all the time so maybe that's why I liked it. The eggplant parmigiana was delicious. It came with a little side spaghetti that had no flavor. It tasted like pasta covered in tomato sauce. Just blah. My friends said the pizza was decent and the combo plate (I think it was lasagna, mostaccioli and ravioli) was so-so. They also brought out cheesy garlic toast which I enjoyed. At the end, they offered us black licorice liquer but I'm not a fan of black licorice so I passed. All in all, it was good portions at a decent price considering I got an entree, salad, soup and bread for about $17 after tax and tip. If I come back, I'll try their pizzas. read more

We ordered the one that made a TV appearence. It was really quite good. The salad that came before it was also good. We simply didn't have the appetite for any more food. Just right. About the interior...REALLY old school. It looks like it's two places joined together. Half bar, half dining room. The bar side looks newer while to dining room is a time capsule. This fits DDD perfectly. The wood paneling, football helmets, and photos of folks over the years- all part of the history and the vibe. read more
