Ordered delivery and discovered fruit flies in the wonton soup. This was after already starting to eat the soup so needless to say everyone was sick from this discovery. It's appalling that places like this exist. We discovered later upon visiting the establishment in person to see what was going on that the place was filthy. No wonder there are fruit flies and who knows what else is crawling around and in the food by the looks of the place. Beware when ordering from here. read more

I just waited 95 minutes for cold wonton soup. When I called back to see where my food was, they left me on hold for 3+ minutes. They need to have whoever answering there phones at least somewhat fluent in English because that was a struggle in itself. Never ordering from here again. read more

I just moved to Elmont last year and this is the Best Chinese food in I have had in Elmont. The food is always hot and fresh. There is no GMO to enhance flavor in there food. The owners will tell you as soon as you order. They will increase prices if you want them to deliver which I don't like but it's down the block from so I never get delivery. My favorite is the sesame chicken with egg fried rice. The veggie dumplings are also great. They are not fried they are steamed, not greasy like other places. read more

Best Chinese take out on L.I by far! I've had Chinese food all over NY, (which by the way compared to out of state Chinese food is amazing) and Mama food is consistently excellent! Great fried rice and chicken dishes, egg foo young and rib tips all great. Always my go to stop for take out, and i am not a local nassau resident! Only reason for not providing a fifth star is sometimes i have to wait forever for my order even though its placed by phone well in advanced. But nevertheless well worth the wait! read more

So we are on the prowl for a new Chinese place as our previous go to has gone south. Off to Yelp I go in search of suggestions. Mama Food has five stars and if my math is right that means good food. I typically feel that if you call a Chinese place and they are nice on the phone you should think twice. The woman who answered the phone did not disappoint. Two sentences in and she was yelling at me. The food was fresh and delivered fast and hot. Way hot. The flavors were different from our normal place but still very good. The only complaints I have is the white rice was just a clump, the dumplings, while good, were very doughy and the same could be said for the egg rolls. Price was average. 2 combo plates and an order of steamed dumplings was $20. Would we eat it again? Yup Will it be our new "go to"? The search continues. read more

It seems like the food quality here has declined sharply. We ordered fried dumplings last night. They delivered steamed dumplings which burned on one side from being thrown in a frying pan. They only fried them on one side and did not use the deep fryer. Also there was so much oil in the lo mein that it was hard to eat. This is our second bad experience here. We used to go to the other place down Hempstead Tpke in Elmont and since they seem to have changed owners within the past year or so the food is not nearly as good as it once was but Mama's is like, right around the corner from my house and it's fantastic! Hands down the best in the area, I've literally tested out at least 15 local joints in search of a Go-To place for Chinese takeout, some of the criteria that had to be met was quality of their fried rice, soups and of course flavor & amounts of beef, chicken, shrimp etc used in all of their dishes. At Mama Food there are also some unique items on the menu that you wont find at the run of the mill take-outs, I loved the Dragon & Phoenix. The service was prompt and the kitchen appeared much cleaner that many of the other places I've tried. This is a 10 minute drive for me but it's worth the effort. read more

This is the best Chinese food hands down. No other place has boneless spare ribs that even come close to mama foods. I go here at least once a week after school. steam dumplings are also on point. lunch special is amazing. when i go out east i get sad not having good Chinese food when i'm out there. read more

Finally my search for decent chinese food in my neighborhood is over....Mama Food to the rescue! I grew up in Elmont and there were so many more quality chinese takeouts growing up compared to now, or maybe my standards were low as a teenager or popular taste has changed. Our go to place closed down a few years ago, and we haven't found a good place til now. Mama Food is a little distance away, but they checked our address and agreed to deliver. The food is excellent....like the good old chinese food of high school days. Fried rice is one of the most flavorful I've had, garlic shrimp was well cooked and generous, and hot & sour soup hit the spot for my sore throat. Usually when you have a cold, everything tastes bland, but the food here was still so flavorful and even pleased my picky mom. read more

I've been ordering from here for more years then I can count! Everything is AMAZING! The only problem recently is they've become so popular it takes over an hour to get even a small delivery.
