Mama Lu's is a great alternative to that fancier place (you know what I'm talking about) when you want large portions served up quickly. Service is curt but I didn't mind. We were promptly seated after some waiting list confusion and served hot tea and sugared peanuts. We wanted leftovers so between the two of us we ordered quite a few items. The miss for me were the Juicy Pork Dumplings. They were lacking the punch of flavor that I was looking for. The Shanghai Style Chow Mein and Garlic Chinese Broccoli were simple yet tasty. I am a huge fan of Hot and Sour Soup and I have to say that this was my favorite item we ordered, and comes in an extra large bowl. For our final item we ordered the Crispy Pork Belly off of their BBQ menu. Some pieces were just fat but about half of them had pork and the skin was perfectly crisped.

Always a delightful experience. 1) found parking in .2 seconds 2) service was exceptionally friendly and quick 3) high chairs - WIN 4) delicious, delicious food 5) reasonable prices Honestly I would come here all the time if I lived closer or within takeout range. But we always try to come out if we're in the area. Always!

Decided to visit this business again last week and had a terrible experience. When I first entered the restaurant, I notified one of the waitresses that we have a table of 10 coming in. She told me she'd put my party down on her list and to have a seat in the waiting area. 5 minutes later, another waitress (or she could be the manager) said, "NUMBER 46!....NUMBER 46!...I SAID NUMBER 46!" She then looks me dead in the eyes and says snarkily, "What number are you guys?!". To which I respond, "The other waitress never gave us a ticket number. She just said she'd put our party size down on the list. We're the party with 10 people." The rude worker then proceeds to ask, "Well out of the 10 people in your party, how many have arrived?" My grandma proceeds to say, "8" while my auntie says, "9" because one of them miscounted. The rude worker then points at the both of them and says, "so which one of you is telling the truth?!" Literally WHAT?! Is that how you treat customers? Accuse them of being liars? To the manager/rude worker: 你的父母教过你礼貌吗?(No manners; do better.) The front door is also locked during business hours for some odd reason... so if you park in the front, you'll have to walk all the way around the building to the back to enter the restaurant. Super inconvenient for customers. Loud environment too. Lastly, the Xiao Long Bao tastes disgusting. The wrapper is too doughy and the soup was cold. The meat was flavorless and tasted like it was reheated from a frozen package. None of the food we ate improved from last time. Will not be coming back even if someone paid me to.

Mama Lu has great food and good service . We usually went to the one in Monterey park so we were happy when this opened up locally. The parking isn't bad because it's shared with other places like banks and other restaurants . We usually get crispy pan fried noodles, Tofu medallions , fried chicken and any vegetable dish. Honestly everything is pretty good but our favorite is the tofu medallions.

Flavor is okay but the place isn't too clean and service is okay. Literally sat next to brooms and dirty dishes, I asked if they could move the brooms and they just laid them against the wall next to us. Shrimp sumai was delicious. We asked for mild kung pao and it came by so spicy, we mentioned it to the server and he said just take it home and add rice.

There seem to be a lot of new Mama Lu's locations opening up in the SGV, but I've never tried them before. This Arcadia location is one of the newer ones, so when my friends suggested coming here, I was excited to check it out. Parking in the back was surprisingly not very easy, considering I came on a rainy day during lunch. There are only about five parking spots in front of the restaurant. There are other parking spots nearby, but most of them are marked for the bank next door. The layout is pretty much the same as the old Tasty Garden that used to be at this location. When I went in, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I was able to choose any open table I wanted. As I walked in, I barely saw any servers around. We ordered xiao long bao, beef rolls, Yang Chow fried rice, and French-style beef tenderloin. Overall, everything was good. The xiao long bao was juicy, the fried rice was tasty and not too oily, and the beef was tender. The beef roll, however, was just okay. The service was decent, especially if you don't mind waiting, since you don't see the servers around very often. They also sell Cantonese BBQ at the front, so don't forget to take some home with you when you leave.

Nice peanuts with sugar on the side to welcome you along with tea. Highly recommend the clam mussel bok choy soup. The soup is white from the fish bones and is very milky looking and filled with flavor. Very filling! The fried fish with seaweed is great and comes in a large portion size. The pork and crab soup dumplings were great and the crab flavor is something to taste first before adding some vinegar. Everything came out together pretty quickly! Service was pretty prompt and quick. Ambiance is very family style! Seats were comfy.

My Mom and I were on our Saturday food run in San Gabriel Valley area. I was excited to find out that Mama Lu's Dumpling House is now in Arcadia. I have been wanting to come here to eat. I found the best opportunity. I brought my Mom here for lunch. Free parking behind the restaurant. Actually, most people enter through the back because the front door is closed or just locked... not sure why. They have a BBQ deli area where you can pick up a pound of this and that such as BBQ pork, roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, and more. Huge inside seating space. Cozy and clean atmosphere. One observation, the seating along the wall seem to slope down. For short people like my Mom and I (LOL), it was very uncomfortable to sit there. We had to sit on the regular chairs instead. Lady staff members were friendly and attentive. Menu had a great selection of different food items. Prices were very reasonable. We ordered 5 dishes... yes, I know there was only the two of us LOL. Hey, they don't call me the to-go or take-out gal for nothing. Anyway, every single dish was so very delicious. Flavors were on point. I can taste the WOK cooking. Portions were big. Can't go wrong with any of them. I would order all of them again and again. Funny, I ended up coming back here a week later to do take-out for a few different dishes plus roasted duck. YUMMY! - Crab With Dried Scallop & Egg White Fried Rice (I can taste the WOK!) - House Pan Fried (tasty lotus, woodear, snow pea, Chinese sausage, etc) - House Special Fish Fillet (good chunks of fish) - Juicy Pork Dumplings (very juicy!) - Simmered Free Ranch Chicken (tender and moist chicken) Highly recommend Mama Lu's Dumpling House! They seem to be popping up in different cities. I recently found out they are also located in West Covina. Cool! I will be heading over there to check them out, too. I want more WOK taste LOL.

I've been to two locations of Mama Lu's Dumpling before but this was my first time at this one. The seating is pretty clean and we were given jasmine tea right away upon sitting down. Yang Chow Fried Rice: The rice was so fluffy and we loved the Chinese sausage that was in it. It definitely helped balance out the other dishes that were more saucy. I was surprised by how generous they were with the shrimp. 10/10 recommend! Beef Pan Fried Noodles: These noodles were so delicious. It was the perfect combination of sauce, crispiness, along with the veggies and proteins. Sometimes I find that the noodles can become too soggy but I feel like this had just the right amount of sauce. Kung Pao Shrimp: The portion size was generous this was my least favorite because I felt like the sweetness was a bit too overpowering for my taste. We had a hard time getting the server's attention for togo boxes and to pay for our check. I wish they refilled the tea as well. Other than that, I recommended coming If you're looking for authentic Chinese food!

The inside of the restaurant still has some of the original layout from the old restaurant - Tasty Garden. The food is okay, but nothing to rave about. Their Siu Mai has some pork tendons left. Their service is not the best, and mostly delayed especially when returning our CC!

I've been to Mama Lu's Monterey park location and always had a great experience there, so was happy they opened a location in Arcadia. We came on a Saturday for dinner and were lucky to be seated without a wait, even though the restaurant was packed. We ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings (8), sautéed Sting Beans, and the Roasted Beef Noodle Soup to share between the 2 of us. The Juicy Pork Dumplings were so big and really juicy! My favorite dish of the entire meal. Definitely ask the waiter for shredded ginger because they didn't automatically bring it out for us. The string beans were flavorful, super crunchy, and the portion size was HUGE so we brought most of it home. The Beef Noodle Soup was delicious as well and the beef was super tender. I would order all 3 dishes again next time. Service was quick, although if you're expecting friendly service with a smile this isn't your place. The restaurant is clean and there were plenty of parking spots available in the lot. Overall, solid food with great portions for the price and we will definitely be back again.

Pan Fried Noodle -- the crispy noodles are supposed to be topped with a thick gravy, but this was straight bland water.
    Marcel T.

This is by far the worst tasting Mama Lu location I've been to. The crispy noodle gravy and the mushroom tofu gravy were both basically soup, no thickness at all and basically completely bland water. The pan-fried buns were also inedible because they were burnt. The only positives were a very nice waitress and zero wait time (probably because the place was empty). What a huge letdown. The original location in MPK, and even the one in West Covina are 10x better better than this.

For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

We had beef, lamb, and pork slices for hotpot which we ordered 5 each per order. We had two pots original and one spicy. The meat slices were very thin so cooking time wasn't long and we paired it with various sauces, so if you make a good sauce it'll be even better. The buffet selection definitely changed, there's more hot foods and they no longer have mini sausages. I do enjoy their char siu and their varieties. Staff were pretty attentive with making sure our tables are cleared and if we need more meat. Since we were in a private room, they still came by to check on us. I'm deeply disappointed with the decline in cleanliness and overall quality of this establishment…read moreover the years. What was once a delightful place to visit has steadily deteriorated, and my recent visit was the final straw. As someone who has worked in food service, I understand the significance of proper sanitation and food safety practices. What I witnessed was truly disturbing. Employees were wearing the same pair of gloves while performing various unrelated tasks without changing them. I observed staff handling dirty items, picking up debris from the floor, pushing dirty carts, touching shared surfaces, using their phones, and even making physical contact with one another all the while continuing to wear the same gloves when handling customer items. Gloves are designed to prevent contamination, not spread it. Wearing the same contaminated gloves throughout an entire shift defeats their purpose and creates serious cross-contamination. There seemed to be a complete lack of awareness of basic food safety standards. The dining area was equally disappointing. The menus were visibly greasy and oily, as if they hadn't been cleaned in ages. During slower periods, most restaurants take the opportunity to wipe down menus, sanitize surfaces, and maintain cleanliness throughout the establishment. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case here. The salad bar was in a state of disarray. Ingredients were scattered, vegetables were mixed into the wrong containers, and food was spilling over the sides. The entire area looked neglected and unorganized. Instead of appearing fresh and inviting, it looked messy and unsanitary. To add insult to injury, much of the dishware appeared dirty. Plates, bowls, and utensils had oily residue and didn't look properly cleaned before being put back into service. There's nothing more unsettling than wondering whether the dishes you're eating from are actually clean. Dining out should be a pleasant experience, but this establishment fell short on multiple fronts. The lack of sanitation practices, visible cross-contamination, dirty menus, messy food stations, and unclean dishware left me feeling disgusted rather than satisfied. Given this disappointing experience, I won't be returning. It's disheartening to witness such a noticeable decline in standards, and I hope management takes these concerns seriously to prevent any potential health risks.

The service was quite impressive... extremely attentive, friendly, and quick. 8/10 for the food. 10/10 for the price point 10/10 for the service. The food was definitely solid for the price point. There were a few misses, but the dishes that landed were executed really well. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! Siu Mai 10/10 - Juicy, plump and perfectly executed. Definitely my favorite dish. Bean Curd Skin Roll in Abalone Sauce 9/10 - Flavorful with an excellent texture. The whole dish was well executed. Beef Chow Fun 8/10 - Solid and flavorful. The beef was tender, and the noodles had a great texture. Yangzhou Fried Rice 8/10 - The rice was moist and the seasoning was spot on. Shrimp Egg 8/10 - Soft and well seasoned. Generously portioned with very plump shrimp. Pork Chop Spicy Salt 8/10 - Crispy and slightly salted. It has a really great texture to it. Salted Fish and Chicken with Eggplant 8/10 - Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Generous portions of chicken, salty fish and eggplant. Chicken Feet 7/10 - It was solid. Not the best, but definitely not bad. House Special Crispy Shrimp Rolls 5/10 - The flavor of the shrimp was okay, but the rolls were really greasy. There were three very small rolls, definitely not my cup of tea. Chili Wonton 3/10 - By far my least favorite dish. The wonton skin tasted very flour-y, and hardly had any filling. The filling was also very bland and the chili oil was very underwhelming. By the way, the tea is free (I know, free tea at a dim sum spot).

For dishes like the beef chow fun and steamed fish for about $14.88, making it super affordable for a large group meal. The food came out fresh and hot, and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. The restaurant gets busy, on weekends but service moved pretty efficiently overall. A perk for this place is that they do have a parking garage, which made parking way less stressful compared to other busy dim sum spots in the area.

We were literally just…read morehere a couple of weeks ago, living our best noodle life, and now it's gone like a ghosted situationship!! I'm now brokenhearted!!! :( We came back ready to reunite with that soy sauce chow mein.... simple, no nonsense, just noodles, bean sprouts, and onions doing exactly what they're supposed to do: minding their business and tasting amazing!! No extra veggies crashing the party and watering things down. As it should be!! And the siu mai? Solid, dependable, and absolutely did not disappoint!!! The kind of duo you start planning your next meal around... until the restaurant disappears on you. Now I'm just here, craving noodles and questioning how a place that serves delicious food would close down!!!!

The food is consistently good, honestly better than a lot of nearby places that charge quite a bit more. What won me over right away, though, was the breakfast combo. Two dim sum items and a hot drink for just $14 is a genuinely good deal. A cold drink is only $1 more (typical HK practice), and you can also take your drink to go for another $1, which is a nice little convenience. I'm pretty particular about milk tea, so I don't say this lightly: their half coffee, half milk tea really hits the spot every time. It's balanced, and satisfying. Beyond the combo, they also serve all the comfort staples, porridge, fried chow mein, Chinese donuts, and my personal favorite, rice noodles with a variety of fillings. It delivers the same comforting flavors you want from a casual dim sum-style breakfast, but without the inflated prices, long waits, and hectic atmosphere that have become so common at more traditional dim sum spots. This place is a solid, dependable replacement for the usual dim sum experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service is consistently warm and welcoming. The driveway can be a little tricky. It sits right next to the Taco Bell drive-through exit, separated only by a fire hydrant, so it's easy to miss or get confused when pulling in. But it's a small tradeoff for a spot that delivers this much value and consistency.
