Ordered what my mom kept describing as bo luc lac//shaking beef but it was different. It didnt have enough pepper too it and it was sweeter. I looked at the menu and it said honey pepper. I went with a small group of three, and I gave the restaurant a call when they opened at 11:30 to see if we could join the waitlist. The lady mentioned that the wait is around 30 minutes, but if we're comfortable sharing tables, there's no wait at all. I wanted to be on the waitlist because I wasn't too keen on sharing tables. She agreed and took my name and number. I received a text shortly after, so I kept my phone and notifications on. I spent nearly an hour outside, keeping an eye on my phone to see the status of our table in my phone. Then, I headed inside to find out how long it would take to get seated. Turns out, I needed to check in first so they could add me to the waitlist. I spoke to the lady who took my information down over the phone, know that they hadn't mentioned I needed to check in to be on the waitlist. She explained that they usually don't take our information over the phone and put us on the waitlist. So, I need to check in to be on their waitlist. She didn't apologize, but she kept saying that they don't know if customers will show up, so they can't put us on the waitlist. However, she did say she'd seat us next. I only got to taste a little of each dish, and they were good. But I lost my appetite because I drove 55 minutes just to try their food, and I had some really bad customer service right away in the morning. My friends also enjoyed the food, but did not have big of an appetite by the time we got seated. They were swamped, so no one followed up with us after they served our dishes. My parents said this place is popular since they do a lunch and dinner special that is cheap and tastes good, so we came here for dinner on a Friday. Their dinner dishes are all $12.99 which is super rare! They usually have long wait times (can be up to 30mins) but today was not that crowded so it only took around 20 minutes. They are not super big inside but they do have two private rooms where we got seated with another party, which wasn't bad since we each just eat our own meals. They give free tea, which tasted like pretty good quality tea, and I drank quite a few cups. They also give free edamame and miso soup as appetizers, which was nice. They are super busy but all the dishes were served fast, within 5 minutes of each other and only after maybe 10 minutes from when we ordered. The dishes all looked super good and not too oily. The portions are also reasonable for the price and is just enough for our group to share. My favorite was the Stir Fried Bean Curd w Pork and the Braised Pork. Both were flavorful but not too salty. And the braised pork was had the right amount of fat and the meat was cooked just right so it was tender and not too dry. The others were also seasoned well and we enjoyed it. The least favorite was the Shanghai Style Sweet Sour Pork because it was more sour than sweet and didn't have much meat on the bones, but I still thought it was pretty good. All the dishes were good and very worth the price. It is not something you can find easily at dinner time, especially with this quality. The white rice is also free of charge which is so rare! I went to the restroom and a server came in and washed her black gloves with soap, stood in line for the restroom and never took off the gloves. I made the mistake of filling up on the first few dishes because I came so hungry but really missed out towards the end and didn't get to try a lot of the remaining foods. I believe the meal itself comes with 14 different entres. My ultimate favorite was the dessert which is glutinous rice balls and some sort of sticky rice that I have never eaten before. Overall great experience for large parties. Some dishes were just too oily for my taste while others were perfect! Came here around 8 pm on Wednesday night and there's a long waiting list so it took about 40-45 minutes before dining in. Food came fast. Service was good. My favorite was halibut and braised pork belly. Really reasonable prices and generous portions. Definitely worth waiting. read more

Huge lines and we understand why! All the dishes are $12.99, including fish and braised pork which was really good. They also have free soup, which during our meal was Japanese miso soup. There were 9 of us and we ordered 16 dishes since it was so cheap, plenty of food to take home. As for the food, I would say that everything was good, but nothing was outstanding. (+) Braised pork in brown sauce (+) Sweet and sour pork 99 red bistro is a Chinese restaurant that does a great job at making dishes so yummy! They open at 5pm and there is always a line before it opens. Luckily, there are plenty of tables to fit everyone, so the wait does go by quickly. You have a better chance to get a table right away by lining up before 5. The dishes are unique in a way that defines this restaurant. When I think about 99 red bistro, I think about the braised vermicelli in pot. You really can't find that elsewhere that does it as well as this restaurant does. Food: I've dined here a few times but the dishes that stand out to me are the braised pork in brown sauce and the sweet and sour pork. I loved the braised pork because the pork is tender and melts in your mouth. Who doesn't love that? The sauce is flavorful and a perfect match with white rice. What I loved about the sweet and sour pork is the sauce. Some restaurants don't get the sauce right! The sauce is either too sweet or too sour, but this dish is the perfect combination. They got it down! Service: The service is good. Not the best but not the worst you'll ever get. Not much to comment on here, but I haven't had any major complaints from the few times I've dined here. We were back to this restaurant for its dinner special and the food were delicious. We ordered off from their dinner special and all of the dishes tasted delicious. We had the steamed fish, squid, cauliflower, braised pork belly, just to name a few. The servers provide excellent and attentive service. read more
