My husband ordered the A Huevo Que Sí and it was packed with flavor. The birria was incredibly tender, and the combination with the eggs and sauce was absolutely delicious. My mom isn't usually a breakfast person, so she ordered the quesabirria tacos, and they did not disappoint! The tacos were cheesy, flavorful, and the consommé was rich and perfectly seasoned. I definitely stole a few dips for my flautas! My dad had the Huevos Rancheros, and they were also excellent. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and every plate looked just as good as it tasted. The service was friendly, the food came out hot, and you can tell they put a lot of care into every dish. The photos speak for themselves, everything was fresh, colorful, and absolutely delicious. It created a relaxed, intimate ambiance that was perfect for learning, asking questions, and enjoying the wines without feeling crowded. To accompany the tasting, we were served delicious canned tuna seasoned with paprika alongside locally made kettle chips from Moo Creamery, located just down the street. The pairing was simple but thoughtful, allowing the Portuguese wines to remain the star while showcasing another great local business. Jeremy has a gift for making wine approachable and engaging, whether you're a novice or a seasoned wine enthusiast. I left with a much deeper appreciation for Portuguese wines, plenty of new knowledge, and excitement to attend another class. On friday and saturday evenings they ususally have a talented musician or two playing to set the mood, they have a few patio seats outside on cooler evenings in Bakersfield, and best of all, the staff are the sweetest and most fashionable women I know. Most disgraceful and discriminatory service I have ever experienced. The hostess, a dumpy lady named "Jason" was utterly arrogant -- refusing to seat or serve me, a friend, and two well-behaved children. IT WAS OBVIOUS LIKE SHE DID NOT APPROVE OF OUR RACIAL MAKE-UP. It has been many years since I have experienced this type of discrimination and thought it no longer existed in California. "Jason" proved to us that racial discrimination is alive and well, at least in Bakersfield. After waiting outside in the 100 + degree heat, with FOUR empty tables languishing inside for over 30 minutes, "Jason" continued to insist that these tables were "reserved" and refused to seat us. "Jason" also refused to serve us water, even as she poured water for other customers. I personally and politely asked for water for the kids -- Jason simply turned her back and continued to act as if we did not exist. We might believe her "reservation" claim if other customers were lining up outside, or perhaps clamoring at the bar. In this small establishment with no more than 15 tables, coupled with "Jason's" extreme attitude, this was clearly not the case. Considering how long these tables sat empty, coupled with "Jason's" incredibly rude behavior, it was crystal clear that she was NEVER going to seat us at all, much less serve us and our kids. If "Jason" is an employee, she should be fired immediately. If "Jason" is an owner, she should be arrested and this establishment should be shut down. BTW, once we realized we were never going to be served by these bigots, we got up and left, and went over to MOO, which turned out to be a real find. We recommend it to anyone, especially people who are travelling with kids. I dine out frequently and simply won't write a negative review if I don't like a place. "Jason's" incredibly disgusting behavior warrants the attention of anyone considering this establishment. read more

Overall great food, just slow service timing. The first time my husband and I came here we were super disappointed. They were pretty much out of everything on the menu. Leaving me to only get sweet potato fries. I will say, they were the best sweet potatoes fries I have ever had though! (If you like them a little more on the crunchy side like myself) The habanero ketchup that comes with them is one of a kind and a great plus! Due to them having nothing on the menu and the waiters approach not being very friendly we didn't want to come back. Given that a lot of our family and friends have said positive things about their food we decided to give it a second chance about 6 months after and be more considerate. It was definitely worth it! This time they had everything on the menu. My husband had the tri tip with some caramelized onions (pretty big piece) and was very fond of it. He enjoys his meat medium well and said they did a great job at that, as well with being both tender and juicy! I tried the fried chicken and loved it! Especially the mango sauce that is served with it. One thing to be prepared for is that all of the entrees do not come with side dishes. They do have sides available at a separate cost. We did not order any sides and had more than enough to eat. I even had left over pieces of the fried chicken. Their homemade Mama Roomba hot sauce in the bottle is great and I wish it was purchasable! Something we were disappointed in was that we ordered their wings for an appetizer and they came out the same time as our dinner, contradicting the point of an appetizer. Not wanting our food to get cold, that lead us to only trying one, granted they were delicious! I thinkkkkkkk that they used the same mango chili from the fried chicken. Whatever it was, it was good! This is a pretty small building so unless you make reservations, I wouldn't suggest coming with more than four people. read more

It's been a little while since I last visited Mama Roomba, and I was truly looking forward to celebrating my birthday with my daughter and her boyfriend there. Reconnecting with this special place reminded me why I cherish it so much. The ambiance was warm and inviting, a perfect backdrop for our time together. We settled in the bar area and were warmly welcomed by our server and bartender, Jamie. She was genuinely kind and attentive, taking the time to explain the specials and menu options to us. For my meal, I chose the rice and black beans along with the pork salad. I can't express how delightful the pork salad was; it was dressed just right with their balsamic vinaigrette, and the pork itself was so tender and juicy. My daughter and her boyfriend opted for the fried chicken with mango chili sauce, and I must say, it was incredible! The portions were generous, and the chicken was perfectly juicy and crispy. I found myself going back for more of that delicious mango chili sauce--I'm not usually one for dipping, but it was just that good! Overall, our experience was truly wonderful, and it left me feeling grateful. I can't wait to return. I started my wonderful experience here with a margarita on the rocks with salt and a mixed green salad. the drink was tasty - strong but no overwhelming - and came with a smile. While the decor is simple and perhaps bordering on gaudy - the place has soul and an authentic warmth of the Carribean. My mixed greens sald was heaping - a great value with a light tangy dressing that hit the spot. My main course - the fried chicken with chili mango dipping sauce - was soooo tasty that I almost orderd a second one despite being very satisfied with the portion. The breading was light and crispy, the chicken tender and juicy and the dipping sauce was flavor-full! And yes - get the desert.. They have but one choice - A fried banana with vanilla ice cream and home made caramel. MMM! If i lived here I would eat here all the time. OK. Got there on a Saturday night... The place seemed busy. Took a seat at the bar. Brian the bartender a little cocky, but seem to make pretty good pre-fab mojitos. Her him argue a little bit about how he's been making the same sangria for 5 years... blah blah. I must say that my 2 Coors Light tasted exactly how they taste all the time, everywhere. The food - way over priced. Paid $22 for small white rice, small black beans and Chicken appetizer. The rice was definitely not Caribbean style texture. The beans were OK. The chicken was extremely tasty. The owner Victor was a cool guy, who refused to speak Spanish even when I kept trying to take the conversation to Spanish. Overall, a cool place for drinks. WHAT HAPPENDED TO THIS PLACE??? Went in for lunch with my date and it was awful! They were out of empanadas? How is that possible? We were there at 11:45 am! We ordered sweet potato fries and the chicken sandwich and the Cubano sandwich. Both sandwiches were extremely dry! Zero flavor! Really expensive for no flavor. The sweet potato fries were perfect. Wow! What a great find in Bakersfield! I love Tapas and what we had was wonderful. Try the skillet shrimp we added a little of the hot sauce on the table house made habanero sauce. This place is one of Bakersfields best Mediterranean style restaurants. It's a good find. The tapas are delicious and flavorful. It's in downtown Bakersfield so parking can be a bit difficult. Mama Roomba is either a hit or miss, but if you get their empanadas it's definitely a HIT! The only thing I docked a star for really is the size of the restaurant because it's a little claustrophobic, but all in all the food makes up for it. Great Food! The chimichurri sauce over lamb chops is the best. My favorite thing to do is to bring a nice bottle or two of Argentinian wine along, order four or five Tapas and sit with friends. If you order the mussels do try and remember to soak up the soup with bread. read more

They have fresh seasonal dishes prepared with care from Executive Chef Raphael Hernandez who has been there forever I think. Parking is easy. Make a reservation, you want to do that. It gets crowded. I was visiting my parents in Bakersfield two weeks ago who had never been to uricchios and I couldn't wait to take them to dinner there! I called ahead the day before and made reservations for myself, my mom and dad, and my husband. We sat down and the place was empty on a Saturday, just a couple tables occupied. My mom ordered a Cesar salad and it was warm! We waited an hour and 15 minutes and our food never came out. No one came and gave us an update but we kept getting sent numerous appetizers "on the house". Sodas were watered down. Bread was mediocre. Finally after an hour and 15 minutes we got up and left. Whatever was happening in the kitchen was not a good sign! They appeared to be struggling despite being not busy at all. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant, my husband and I had to get in n out on the grapevine for dinner. I was so embarrassed that I even recommended for my family and my husband to do a dinner at uricchios, much less RAVED about it. I'm so sad what has happened to my favorite bakersfield restaurant, but all good things come to an end. I won't ever be back

Looks like the bar area has potential to be a very lively happy hour with a circular bar layout that should facilitate conversations and fun times as well as some more intimate high-top seating around the edges of the bar area in case you're out with friends and want the bar vibe without needing to sit too close to strangers. I asked him for suggestions on what to order and also asked him about the drinks. I ordered a tostada de ceviche 4/10. Really overpriced fish on a tostada that doesn't go well with the ceviche. Fish needs to be cooked in lime and not lemon, as I tasted it was cooked in lemon which doesn't taste good. The fish is chopped in good pieces, but for me it'll stay at a 4. The salsa and chips were a 7/10 only because the chips outweighed the salsa. Salsa is nothing special, tomatoes are chopped to thick and has no spice to it. The tacos come with a lot of grated cheese which I took off, solid 8/10. Albondigas surprised me, if they were cooked a little longer they would've been softer the way I like them and they would've been 10/10, but they are a solid 9. The fish was really nothing special 3/10, but the rice was really good 10/10. The beans were dry 3/10. I ended up making burritos out of my leftover lettuce from my beef tacos and the basic fish and used the green salsa they offer. The blueberry whiskey sour was a 100!!! One of the best drinks I've ever had! The El Corazón tasted like a strawberry margarita with tad more berry puree 7/10. Next time I go I'll sit at the bar, either way I don't feel like my feet will touch the ground.

They have a modest amount of in restaurant seating but a huge festively decorated patio with vibrantly colored folk art flowers adorning them and bistro style chairs. We dined early on a Friday and were treated to strolling musicians who played and sang a wonderful traditional folk song for us while we awaited our order. The waiter spoke limited English but that wasn't a problem as when my limited Spanish failed me we used Google translate with great success. The menu is large and varied with an assortment of dishes including molcajetes, tacos, burritos, fajitas, and much more. Our meal began with house made flour tortilla chips and a richly flavourful salsa with plenty of garlic and a spice balance that I the wuss was able to enjoy, but which builds in intensity so it worked well for my spice loving husband. We ordered pasta poblano con Pollo and a pescado cerviche Toscana plus iced tea. The pasta was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared with liberal lashings of a rich buttery creamy white cheese sauce infused with the bright taste of poblano peppers and moist chunks of well seasoned chicken. The cheese pull from it was remarkable and it is a rich savory flavor explosion on the tongue. The portion was enormous and ended up feeding both of us about three meals each. I ordered the pescado or fish cerviche Toscana made without chili as I am a wuss and they happily accommodated that request. When it arrived it was a literal mountain of cerviche atop a six inch toasted corn tostada with another tostada perched atop at a jaunty angle. The cerviche was close to four inches high! The fish was citrus cured with a light delicate texture and fresh clean taste speaking to the lime used in the curing. The salsa had fantastic balanced flavor and was without pepper heat which was perfect for me. The service was superb and friendly. We WILL be back! Update: We are back for more fabulous cerviche tostadas. My husband got the perillo tostada which has shrimp, sushi grade tuna, avocado and all manner of other goodies. Perillo translates to bad ass and it is indeed a bad ass tostada! I opted for the callo de acha or scallop tostada this time and it also does not dissapoint! They have a full bar and we are very curious about their Adios Madafaker cocktail. The name is hilarious! We will update again if we decide to try it.
