Shrimp Asparagus, Vegetable Combo, Special California, Salmon & Avocado

Nice food and really good prices for sushi. They came with complimentary miso soup (it has fish btw for anyone with dietary restrictions like me). Lots of sushi roll options on the menu and a good number of vegetarian options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very very affordable place and located so close to campus - it's definitely a very popular spot for students.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cozy small little shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is authentic and homestyle, not too pricy. Very good service, they bring kids cup and extra bowl and everything without asking. Miso soup on the house right away. Delicious and our go to cozy choice in the area.

Everything here was super fresh! I've been in person and have gotten carry out. I will say the service is great, everything was fast but [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's definitely super packed in there, you're very close to other tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the tuna and avocado roll and a special california roll. Super fresh and yummy. I'm a huge spicy mayo person and I'm not the biggest fan of it here. But overall the service is good and the food is good so I definitely recommend!!

Just happened upon this place while staying at the Bell Tower Hotel before the game. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Aromas hit me as I walked in and was seated by the window.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I looked at the menu, I wasn't sure if I was missing something, since the prices looked low. It wasn't busy, but the other diners seemed happy. Why not? I was greeted with a complementary bowl of miso soup. So flavorful and warming! I had a tofu roll, Tamago (egg omelette) and fresh salmon sashimi. Nice portions and very fresh. My server was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Another bonus: the bill was less than $15. I couldn't believe my eyes and felt kinda of guilty, even though the bill was correct. I had to leave a substantial tip to justify myself!

Came here with a friend and ordered the fancy roll combo (around 17.00) and spider roll (around 15.00). The location is very good, it's in the UMICH campus. When we got there it wasn't packed but the service was a little slow. We waited close to half an hour for the first plate to arrive. A lot of the dishes came out at once, so I kind of feel like the waitress was just not paying attention, but I'm not sure. The food came a few minutes after we asked about the order. The combo was worth the price (you're saving like $10 compared to buying the rolls separately, so it's worth your money). Sadly, we never tried any of the sashimi rolls. The Spider roll was good. It was fresh and the pieces were very large. Decent place for dinner if you're not in a hurry.

BIG fan of the chicken katsu here. The portion size is definitely worth the price - I had leftovers! The crispiness of the chicken was excellent. I have gotten sushi from here before, and I have no complaints. Honestly, the best thing about this restaurant is the service. The main woman who runs the service is the star of the show. She is efficient, joyful, and reliable. She can handle every table at once, when the restaurant is at peak capacity, and makes sure that everyone is taken care of. She does not slow down, and is on a mission that you enjoy the food and get to your next scheduled thing on time. My friends and I are typically in a rush to get out before lunch time ends, and she makes sure we do so. Worth returning, and I will be back for sure.

Loveeeee mama satto!!! Come here all the time with friends and fam. The food is good and very reasonably priced!! It can definitely get busy but their service is usually pretty good.

MaMa Satto is my go to spot for sushi in Ann Arbor. I've literally gone here almost weekly and it never disappoints. My favorite roll is the tuna tataki but all of them are pretty great. They also have a pretty extensive menu of rolls and appetizers to try so there's always something new to try. Besides the sushi my friends and I really enjoyed the edamame and the gyoza. We also really like the ramens and have tried the dumpling ramen and the chicken katsu ramen which come in really big serving sizes and are great to share. The calamari wasn't my favorite on the menu but easy to overlook when everything else was so great. The service is quick and the workers are great and so kind. Before the appetizers come out, the meal starts with a bowl of delicious miso soup. The sushi then proceeds to come out pretty quickly while the ramen does take a bit longer but is worth it. You should be able to walk into MaMa Satto and get a table without a wait and a great meal. P.s. the sushi also travels great when ordered for delivery

    Curry Rice With Beef

So I ordered curry rice bc the menu said there was beef in it and I really like beef so take this with a grain of salt. There was only one piece of beef and one piece of carrot. I honestly wouldn't mind paying more if it'd mean getting more than just sauce over rice. don't get this if you're looking for a filling meal.

    Salmon Lover (delish)
    Grace C.

Came here on a weekday for lunch and my friend and we had to wait ~15 minutes to be seated even though there were several vacant tables. The reason for this was because the tables were not being cleared efficiently due to understaffing. I ordered the Salmon Lover which came with both miso soup and a salad; this cost around ~$15. I would say the price matched the quality of the dish. Salmon Lover comes with 3 pieces of Salmon nigiri and 8 pieces of their Salmon roll. Overall, the food was good/fresh, and I would order it again. The reason I took off 2 stars was due to the slow and inefficient service. It was difficult to flag down servers for the check/items because they were so busy. All in all, MaMa Satto has good food. However, don't come here if you are in a hurry or impatient, because the service will test you.

Delicious sushi, consistent quality, generous portions. Kind and welcoming customer service. I highly recommend the sweet shrimp ama ebi, some of the best in town! Space is nice as well.

Small Japanese restaurant with great service. And great food! Sushi is always fresh. Family owned. Right in the campus town neighborhood.

The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

I came here with a friend for dinner and we were…read morerudely greeted and told that it would be best if we sat at the bar because they were busy. It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

Closed on Mondays, I think my dad scheduled his treatments around their hours because he likes it so much. There is a strong smell of disinfectant when you walk in that doesn't mix well with whatever smell is coming from the pipes but I recall this same issue at this location long before it was Plate. No worries. It's clean and welcoming. We sat, my dad choosing a bench side table with a cushion. I ordered a couple appetizers from the order pad at the table while we waited for our third person. Hot tea, water l, edamame and takoyaki. All very good. The woman that greeted us was so warm and friendly. She was also our server. I ordered the sushi lunch bento. They had teriyaki beef bento. I didn't know the bentos came with a single Tako ball or I wouldn't have order the app but don't skip on the app. It's a good order with tempura flakes and eel sauce. I forgot to snap a pic of them. The bento was excellent. Right temps, great quality and assortment. I couldn't finish it. Packed a box to finish later. Dad treated today so I don't have a clue what the bill was but the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.
