I recently went to maman to pick up lunch and a couple of pastries for me and my wife. I've heard great things about this spot so I had high expectations. I ended up with the club sandwich and my wife got the Katie's chicken sandwich. The Katie's chicken sandwich was amazing. I also got the Nutella beignet, kouign maman, and the classic chip cookie. All the pastries were good. I feel like if they were heated the taste would have been better. I was not a fan of the staff, I got a latte for my wife and while I was waiting for the rest of my large order a worker as me if that was my latte (I was 6in from my drink). Bad interaction. Had just landed from a long 6 hour red eye and brunch was what I needed. My bestie brought me here saw that it had good reviews so we decided to try it out. The place is cute and small very narrow. We went on a Saturday morning so it was crowded. We waited about 20 min not bad. We sat down in the back patio which we loved. Unfortunately our waitress/ food runners we're extremely RUDE. I understand it's busy but when you are in an big city where people come and go you expect to be greeted and treated decently. One of the female waitresses was so rude when we asked for water she rolled her eyes. Which made us wrap it up and leave. The food was great. Ordered the waffles and the potato bowl. Maman is a great place for a girls brunch. There are several locations in DC. The decor is very pretty and insta worthy! We came here during Saturday brunch rush and not surprisingly, there was a very long line waiting to order so I'd recommend ordering ahead for pick up I tried the quiche ($10) and the seasonal iced cherry blossom latte ($8). In my travels, I've discovered all mamans do not have the same quality control. My first maman was an unforgettable experience. I was on the lower east side of manhattan and this beautiful French woman gives me a freshly made croissant and coffee. Ooh la la! The second visit at a different maman, I was served a stale croissant. What gives ma man? Walking into this bakery, it's a large beautiful space. After looking over all the delicious baked goods, I order a latte and a pistachio filled croissant. There's plenty of available seating, I chose a small table by the window. This might just be a top 5 cafe spot in my book. My girlfriend found this and took me here. First off, I love the ambiance here. They have a lot of floral going on, the windows let in a good amount of natural light, and their chinaware is just that of good taste. I didn't get to try their pastries this time around, but I plan on doing so in the future. They all looked good. I felt like if I did order some, I would've walked out with an entire bag lol. The service was pretty good. We go our food within 10 minutes of ordering it. I recommend you come early because lines can form here pretty easily. My girl ordered the crogel (smoked salmon sandwich over an everything bagel), and I ordered the thérèse sandwich (marinated flank steak, crème fraîche & grainy mustard, roasted tomatoes, herbs & arugula on a baguette). I substituted the grainy mustard for red pepper aoili, and it SLAPPPPPED. Both sandwiches and coffee's were amazing. I was raving about this place the entire day lol. The only thing I didn't like was the cost. Two sandwiches and 2 coffee with a side of avocado came out to about $53-55. Other than the super long lines, this was a great breakfast choice! There's a conference in town (full disclosure - that I'm at!) that overwhelms all the restaurants nearby, so not fair to judge. When I finally got to the front of the line, I ordered a pastry basket for the table (almond, chocolate almond, and pistachio croissants), a breakfast sandwich, and an oat milk latte. I got the croissants immediately, so my friend and I were able to snack on them while waiting for our food and coffee. The space is beautiful - bright, clean, and spacious. It was a lovely place to grab food. And the food was excellent! My breakfast sandwich was delicious, with avocado, roasted tomatoes, a ton of bacon, and an egg on an amazing brioche roll. So good! Was in the area due to staying at a hotel nearby while visiting my daughter at college for Parents and Family weekend and happened here for brunch. It is a very nice location giving full Parisan cafe vibe. The price point certainly reflects the ambience, so expect to pay more than your daily coffee shop visit. This latte was exquisite in flavor, cannot recall the name but it included lavender. The service was good and will say the young lady at the register went above as my daughter ordered a matcha latte that she did not like and she easily exchanged it for her. However I like the cafe itself. There's lot of light & everyone was either studying or just enjoying their time. I came to Maman after a morning walk to grab coffee and a bite to eat. This place was poppin from the moment we walked in. It was tough to find a seat for two people which made the experience a little stressful. After placing our order to dine in, we had to search for a table. If we hadn't found one, we would have had to pack everything to go which would have been frustrating. Thankfully it worked out, but it's something to keep in mind for future visits, especially during busy hours. For food, I ordered the cinnamon bun kouign amann and an iced matcha latte with oat milk. Both were really good. The kouign amann had a nice flaky texture with the perfect amount of cinnamon sweetness. The matcha was smooth, not too bitter, and paired well with the pastry. One thing to note is that this location does not allow laptops on weekends which keeps the space feeling more social and open but may be a downside if you were hoping to get some work done. Despite the seating challenge, the food and drinks were worth it. I would definitely return, just maybe earlier in the day or on a weekday. read more

My turkey goat cheese crossaint was sooo buttery and fresh. I opted to have it served warm, too! I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially for the price! I tried a Lemon Meringe Crossaint Cube as my dessert. This was decent. I wasn't a fan if the filling because it was a lot but the rest of the dessert was tasty. Not as buttery as the sandwich crossant but still good. My drink was a seasonal Salted Tahini Honeycomb Latte that I ordered less sweet and decaf. This was pretty good! My love language is sweet treats. This location is right by the library so I'm always walking by. I think I've tried almost every pastry they make and everything is delicious! I love the white chocolate raspberry cookie. I like how they do seasonal treats! Their website doesn't show half the pastries they have so you really have to go in person. Their hot chocolate is made with Omanhene cocoa and dried lavender. it's fragrant, smooth and delicious! I've also had their chai tea which was good. I recently downloaded the app and tried ordering once, while in store on a not so busy time, and yet my order took SOOO long. Never again! It's really unfair that the app offers discounts but there's no advantage to use the app. Maman is not a place where I'm gonna have a usual order, there is so much variety I need to see in person plus the app is missing a lot of the pastries. I was excited to try out maman at their new location after passing by the Bethesda location many times! The interior is super cute - I love how bright and open it is, and it would definitely be a great space to work! For food, I tried the crogel and the croque maman, which were both a bit expensive but decent quality. The crogel was a perfect balance between a bagel and croissant - not too bready or too flaky, making it perfect for a sandwich. I liked the use of pickled onions and the dill and parsley elevated the freshness. The croque maman also exceeded my expectations as I thought it would be plain, but it was actually the perfect texture, super soft and cheesy. I also got a honey lavender latte which was pretty good as well! I also tried a few of the pastries to go - I liked the kouign maman as it had that nice sugary, caramelized crust, although it was a bit doughy and tasted better when warmed up. The turkey cheddar and dijon roll was nice and flaky but it was a little lacking in flavor, with only the tiniest little strip of turkey and cheddar and barely any taste of dijon. The Paris to New York Croissant, on the other hand, was almost too sweet - definitely for people looking for something really decadent and rich. I also tried their famous nutty chocolate chip cookie but was pretty disappointed after all the hype. I live across the street at CityCenter so I have several options when it comes to coffee shops in the area. I've walked by this place several times over the past year but finally decided to walk in one day about a month ago. This is now my go to coffee shop in the neighborhood. For starters, the service and vibe here are great. It has a true home like feeling and the staff are always very pleasant. Secondly, the prices are far better than Dolcezza and Tatte and I find the quality of the coffee here to be better. I spend about $4 for a cup of coffee compared to $6 at the other places. read more

I recently visited this cute French coffee shop during my visit to DC. I came across on Instagram and was not disappointed. As soon as I walked in it was very busy and crowded inside. Almost every table was taken. There was a line to order but only about 2-3 people ahead of me. I loved the decor and aesthetic of the inside, it gives very French vibes. The cashiers were not too friendly but the bussers were quick cleaning tables and the expos were also friendly when taking your food and beverage to the table. Overall I had a great experience and would definitely be back when visiting DC. read more
