I placed an online order, Food was not ready at the time it was said to be ready. When I got there she couldn't find my order then said oh it's a online order- she printed the ticket and then sent it to the kitchen I had to wait 25 mins for them to cook it- Never apologized, didn't ask me if I wanted a drink, wanted to sit down. It's sad that this would be my first review that was not of excellence or excitement. Unfortunately my first time experience here was so blatantly racist, ride and disrespectful that I will never patronize this establishment again. The server we had, which she never even gave her name to us (my mom and I) and NEVER checked in on us after half of the meal was served. She sat our plates down and never came back until she noticed we were ready to leave. However, all the other tables around us with non-black persons were checked on multiple times and was serviced with a smile and courtesy. After receiving our check to pay, I did ask for a manager and spoke with her to tell her our experience and to express how disappointed I was to have received this type of treatment especially being my first time. I've been coming to this Mama's Daughters' Diner location for years (I live right around the corner). A lot of their items are great (pancakes, biscuits, onion rings, fries, yams), while other items are not so great (waffles, French toast, cornbread, breakfast potatoes, cinnamon roll). Even when it looks busy from the outside, you never really have to wait that long for a table. The service is decent, nothing outstanding. The interior has a lot of the diner's history inside. Multiple visits show you something different you haven't seen before. Overall, there are probably equally good or better diners out there in the DFW area. However, this is a really good diner! I do recommend visiting, but just know that you have to be willing to just try a bunch of things to see what you like or don't like from here (because some things I thought would be good or bad were the opposite). read more

It was my first time visiting Dallas Texas & I was recommended this place by some strangers. They said "Mama's Daughters', the best diner", so of course I had to give it a try. It is about a 7-10 minute walk from my hotel. When we got there it was very packed so I knew it was a hot spot. We were told to sit anywhere & within 4 minutes someone came to take our order. She was very friendly & immediately asked what we wanted. After we ordered our food, it came out in about 10 minutes. For the businesses, they sure do serve the food fast which was great. All though the plates did look a dirty but it could have just been from being used over & over. We are also given a small pie (for free) not sure was the occasion was, but it was decent. Cool little diner. We came by one Sunday for brunch. It was a bit confusing as there were a lot of people standing outside of the building. I asked someone if there was a sign up sheet and they said, "no, the guy inside told us to wait out here." After a while as they were being seated, I followed them in thinking I could wait inside or at let be acknowledged that I was next in line. I was quickly told, loudly, "You can't wait in there, you need to wait outside!" When we were finally seated, our waitress was super slow. A man was seated in the booth next to us and he came in after we did. He had the same waitress and somehow he was able to get his food, eat and left before we even got our food. I recently visited Mama's Daughters Diner; the experience was less than exciting. Waitress didn't seem as though she wanted to be there. I visited because I was craving Hot Roast Beef and Mashed Potatoes. I also got a side salad with ranch that had so much water in the bottom of the bowl that the ranch was like water as I ate the salad. The roast beef and potatoes with brown gravy was average with very little flavor. I will look for other options in the metro. read more
