Loved this place!!! As out of town visitors from the west coast, we happened upon this place by chance, or perhaps by fate. It is the type of place you might miss if you weren't looking for it as it is nestled into a small residential community near Harrisburg. (WARNING: There is an imitator called Mama's Pizza in downtown Harrisburg -It is not affiliated with this restaurant, and I do NOT recommend going there- its in a very sketchy part of town) We soon realized that we had found a gem!! As we walked in, we were greeted by owners Lisa and Steve. They were some of the most genuine, friendly people you will ever meet! It was easy to see why the place was filled with "regulars", including a family who had a tradition of eating at Mama's Pizza every Friday night for the past 9 years. The menu included everything from Deep dish to thin crust pizza, Calzones, Stromboli, and more! On Lisa's recommendation, we went for the Deep dish (Sicillian) pizza, made with Mama's own home made crust and pizza sauce made from scratch. The veggies which topped the pizza were as fresh ad could be, and the thick crust and sauce were outstanding! I could not have asked for a better experience, or more delicious pizza. I'd give a full 5 stars if the driver could follow simple directions. In the delivery instructions I stated exactly where to leave the pizza & to ring the doorbell. I was busy brewing beer & wouldn't be able to answer the door right away. None of these were followed. My pizza sat in the cold for 20 minutes while I was wondering where it was. Dang it, not that hard to follow simple directions, is it? Now I gotta wait for my oven to heat up so I'm not eating cold pie. Ugh, it's the little things that really upset me! The first time I had two slices of pepperoni. The bottom was crisp. The cheese was fresh, and the crust had a really good flavor- 5 stars. A week later, I got two slices of pepperoni, and the crust was a rubbery and didn't seem to have as much flavor. It definitely was not crisp- 3 stars. 4 star average. I'll be back. read more

I've come here in the past for pepperoni pizzas and was very pleased, however I ordered a chicken tender sub and the chicken was so rubbery and hard it was not edible, then my wife tried to give their bbq chicken pizza a shot, for some reason they added bacon and didnt put the sauce under the cheese but on top of everything. I literally am here visiting my boyfriend ALL I WANTED WAS A COLD GRINDER WITH LETTUCE, MAYO, RAW ONIONS, and GREEN PEPPERS NOT TOASTED.... I'm sorry to leave a review but I got a hot sandwich (I'm happy they put in effort to make it) however it had broccoli and mushrooms???? And it was warm the cheese was melted. And I can't imagine how they got that wrong they asked me what I wanted on it and I said "ONLY lettuce Mayo cheese etc....) so where did we miscommunicate? Again appreciate any service I get and I know they all work hard but please don't make these mistakes I'm hungry and I didn't eat because of this. read more

3+ stars. Central PA is a land of very good pizza joints (thanks to all the descendants of Italian immigrants), and this is one of the best. Humble dining room, small sidewalk dining area, very friendly delivery. Also very good cheesesteaks on store-made bread. read more

Um, so yea .. not sure about all the glowing reviews of this place. I actually dropped in because of all the chatter about the place - minus the review by Thomas F. because his opening statement actually makes no sense at all. This place in my humble opinion, is nearly the same as any other pizza shop in the area. Same style of bread and ingredients that are exactly why I'm not a fan of it. To be completely honest, I rarely have reason to buy a hoagie or pizza in the central PA area because most shops don't make product worth eating. That being said, I do hate to leave negative reviews .. the shop is a nice little place with some limited outdoor seating. Service was nice enough, and my order came out immediately. If you're a local you would probably enjoy this spot. If you are accustomed to have quality big-city pizza and hoagies from NYC or Philly then this place is not for you. read more

Very lovely quaint local pizza place. It reminds me of a true "neighborhood" pizza shop. Very nice staff and good food. What else do you want from a local pizza place? They have some modest seating outside when the weather is nice too. Call Papa John's if you want to support the corporate machine and min. wage jobs. But if you want each pizza to be a true made-by-hand by people who live locally, you can't do any better than this. read more

I have had their subs, pizza, and wings and they were all excellent. Wish they had more sauce choices for wings. Pizza and subs are among the best in this area. Never eaten in, always deliver or pick-up, but staff has always been courteous. Subs are made on homemade rolls, and well made. Living near Derry St has its perks, and having Mama's Pizza down the street is one of them. Mama's pizza is one of those rare pizza shops that has great tasting pizza and great owners. I especially love the crispy crust, great sauce, and the cheese that's so good! And if I ever had an issue with my order, the owner or whoever was working would fix my issue without question. We live right around the corner and stopped in for a pizza as well as two tossed salads. We had a cheese pizza. The sauce was amazing! Loved it! Also the dressing was an oil and vinegar. Very tasty! The salad was hearty and had more than iceberg lettuce. We will def be back! read more
