First impression of the place is that it's dirty... VERY dirty. Smells like mop water... there's mop water all over the floor... literally! The food wasn't bad, but the cleanliness of the place doesn't help. I had the #3 fish fillet with rice. The waitress only came to our table twice. We had to flag her down in order to get our checks, she finally came after about 15-20 minutes of trying to get her attention. Let me say this I love the food at Mambos. However, I am completely upset with how I was serviced at the 45 and Edgebrook location. I placed my order over the phone for pick up. 2 number 1s a number 10 and 2 kids popcorn shrimp. Now as I arrived to pay for my order the young lady that took my order stated she only rang up 1 of the kids popcorn shrimp....ok no problem paid for the 2nd one. Headed out to my vehicle and realized upon checking that it was only 1 kids popcorn basket. Went back in to let them know they only put a 1 in the bag. Do you know this woman followed me to my car to see if I was lying???? I literally just spent $35 with you and you come to search my car for a $3.79 meal??? I have eaten here four times now in the last two weeks and I haven't had a bad experience yet. The service is always good, the food is always prepared fresh and doesn't take forever to come out, and the quality of everything is top notch. The thing that keeps me coming back is the shrimp fried rice without a doubt. I haven't wanted to try any of the other sides because it is so off the charts good. And the micheladas where spicy but good! First time my kids get refills without having to chase the server. She was nice and very attentive to all of our needs. Great restaurant! We went during a bit of a lunch rush, but we still got well taken care of. Kat our server was super nice and brought out our food in a timely manner. the shrimp were chewy. i think they were defrosted in the microwave; looks ike they got the fish from sams club. Jumbo shrimp were not jumbo, they try to make it up by adding about a pound of rice. i do not recommend this at all. i dont right reviews but i felt like i got robbed so i took the time. read more

We were leaving the airport and before hoping on I-45 we wanted grab lunch. The driver pulled in here. I was suspect when we walked in. It's also a seafood market and was very fishy. Menu was odd. Server suggested a dinner platter and didn't seems to have much else to offer. All it was was a crap load of "dry" rice and a bunch of slivers of meat. Two of us got this. We were both disappointed. I have been to this location three times. The first time, I had good food and excellent service. The second time the food was okay, but the service was poor. The last time I visited, I left after sitting at a table for almost 20 minutes without ANYONE stopping by to take my order. Carpooling after work and stopped in tonight. You seat your self here when you walk in and we sat at the bar. There is also patio seating. We both were were hungry and wanted to eat at a place that served beer. When we got there the place was half filled with customers. Atmosphere was pleasant with Mexican music playing at a good level and a family environment. The bar tender was Felacio and he was quick and made some great suggestions, for dinner. We got our cold beers even before we could get settled in and look at the menu. We decided to get the #4, that has 15 fried yummy shrimp with their AMAZING fried rice, only priced at $8.99, also we got a half dozen oysters - - that was fresh and cold. We loved the food, the cold beers and the atmosphere. By the time we left the place was filling up. Also this is the place to be to get fresh fish or seafood because right when you walk in there is a huge seafood case. All packed on ice and no this place did not smell like a fish market. This place is really good for seafood. I ordered the fried shrimp and shrimp fried rice. The grilled shrimp was lacking a little flavor but the rice was excellent. I enjoy coming here with my family because of the setting. It's not your usual seafood place. It's like a big bar. It's mainly Latino but they have an English menu too, and the waitresses are really nice and know how to understand what you order. Reason on why three stars is because they can clean a little more and have better service. I have to keep asking for things over and over. Other than that the food is great. Try the fried shrimp. Well this was a quick visit to Houston, and Mambo was right down the street from my hotel. Mambo was highly recommend by the hotel. I will have to say the hotel staff was spot on. Mambo has an enormous amount of seafood dishes you can select from the menu. I only wish I could have sampled at least half the menu. But unfortunately that didn't happen. I started with the Mambo Shrimp, very flavorful a little heat and a whole lot of garlic. After that quick bite I ordered the whole snapper fried with no breading. Nice size snapper also included their famous Mambo shrimp fried rice and grilled veggies. The snapper was kind of dry, I'm thinking that was my fault due to the frying with no breading. But very fresh as if it came straight out the ocean. Now let's discuss the amazing prices. My entire meal was only $34.00, coming from the east coast I would say that's very cheap. Not a good place to go and eat if it's raining if computers go down they are closed. They wait till you get to the front and inform you they are closed. Not good business para rice. It's raining and they are just standing around they could at least let you know they are closed before getting all wet. This happened just a few minutes ago. They need to get with the program. It had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The shrimp was awful. The fish had some sort of breading on it. It was definitely not fresh. The texture was like a frozen breaded filet. I got a small bowl of lettuce on the side with a "wilted" slice of tomato. The service was very slow- we had to call for service for a table of two - the first waitress took our drink oders and we had ordered an appetizer. Never got here till the second waitress stated that this was her table and took our order again. Then our drinks came but our appetizer never arrived -,was told they ran out of ceviche so the third waitress called the manager. He came w/ the ceviche. And didn't charge us for the ceviche and brought us the bill, we paid our bill in cash and gave it to the rude waitress #2 and bill had the amount of $10.66 w/ poor servic typed inby the manager. When the rude waitress got the bill w/ the $10.66 she crumpled the bill and I don't know if she turned the money in or kept the money . I want to thank your manager Alfredo for resolving our problem but we had to let you know about the crumbling of the receipt and the money because we paid cash for it..
