Great service and warm atmosphere. We were freezing and came in for lunch and some hot tea. This place hit the spot. We saved Mandarin Garden to our playlist when we come back to Lake Arrowhead. Normally the only Chinese restaurant in a small town isn't anything special but that isn't true in this case. Thank you

Mandarin Gardens has improved the look of their restaurant by finally getting rid of the old, stained carpet and replaced it with engineered vinyl flooring. It looks a million times better and I no longer have to worry about what I'm stepping on, haha. Their food is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. I'm always a fan!

Chinese food high on top of a mountain near Lake Arrowhead. What can I say? I was really craving Chinese food while staying at the lake. This place has been around since 85 which is incredible. Inside it's dark and retro as hell. Love it! Locals seem to enjoy it as everyone dining the day I came in was joking around with the sweet owner. The food is ok. What threw me off was the very thick sauce on my beef and broccoli, maybe extra msg? And the egg flower soup was also extremely thick. Flavors were great and their lunch specials are awesome as they come with an abundance of food. My beef was very tender and the slightly crispy broccoli nice and fresh and cooked to perfection. I would most likely come back since I visit Lake Arrowhead several times a year but I'm guessing all their saucy dishes are made on the very thick side. Undecided at this point. 3.5 stars from me once Yelp gets their shit together and allows half stars.

Our meal - à la carte, less than $50, tons of food, very flavorful.

Welcoming environment, decision food, exemplary service. Will come again when visiting area!

Food was at best bland & not authentic Chinese food. Served cold & had to be sent back to be warmed up. Will not be visiting again.

HAPPY FOR PHO!…read more Thankful for some decent asian food in Big Bear! Location is kind of hidden but park next door in the rental area and quick walk to a small restaurant. Pros: 1. No wait, food came out quickly 2. Outside dining & clean restrooms 3. Pho had generous amount of meat 4. Veggie egg rolls were our fav. Kids liked the steamed dumplings. 5. Variety of Asian dishes was nice. We got the beef stir fried noodles, crunchy veggie egg rolls, steamed dumplings 6. Girl working was friendly Cons 1. Appetizers were not made in-house 2. We had 3 pho and they all had different amounts of cilantro, onions etc. One bowl had a ton cilantro and the other barely had any. Broth was a tad too sweet for me and it wasn't served piping hot. 3. Only a few tables inside which will make it hard during the winter service Overall this place is great for beginners who have never tasted pho. Ask them for a free drink! Their Thai iced tea was not too sweet which I liked. I give them a 3.5 star rating.

We decided on this small place that's kind of hidden, and upon entering, they had plenty of customers! now, the area wasn't the most clean to be honest, but there were 2 or 3 people working and at least 20 customers, so i brushed it off. The menu and the food on it looked great! i decided to split a beef soup and noodles, but i think my brother messed up the order, because i only received noodles with soup. No problem. The food came quickly and we started to eat. In my mother's first bite of food, she got a massive hair in her noodles :( ! She immediately returned it but no longer had an appetite. The noodles i received kind of tasted like microwave food, so i didn't quite enjoy it, but my brothers enjoyed their food! they got brisket pho, the steam bbq pork bun, and thai boba ice tea. I liked the taste of the pork buns, and the boba was delicious TL;DR, i didn't get a stomach ache, and (most of) my family enjoyed their meal. The servers were great and polite, but the place could use some upgrades ambiance wise and more cleaning . Fairly priced.

The flavor was good and I enjoyed them, but unfortunately they were missing one of my favorite parts of xiao long bao. The soup. There was very little to no broth inside. The braised beef noodle soup was easily my favorite dish. The broth was flavorful, the beef was tender, and it came out at the perfect temperature. My only complaint was the noodles themselves. They were pretty tangled and clumped together, almost like they had been sitting refrigerated before being added to the broth. Once separated, though, I really enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the sliced beef with hot peppers. The beef had good flavor, but I thought the sauce was a little too dry for my preference. And when they say hot peppers, they mean it, there were A LOT of jalapeños. There was also a small wait between receiving the noodle soup and the rest of our entrées, so the timing could have been a little better. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, plenty of space, and is conveniently located near Downtown Redlands. Overall, I'm glad to see a place serving good Shanghai style Chinese food in an area where there aren't a ton of options like this. Definitely a place I'd come back to and try more of the menu. 7/10

This isn't one of those fancy fusion places trying to reinvent American-Chinese food -- it's pure, classic comfort, done right. And OMB is more vegetarian friendly. This isn't a Chinese restaurant with a thousand dishes ranging in quality. This is curated collection of classics done right: Cantonese dim sum, Shanghainese soup dumplings, and popular Chinese comfort foods. All the dumplings are made fresh. I see some reviewers suggesting they've had better elsewhere, but those elsewheres are over an hour away. I know those places and they're not worth the drive or the higher prices. There's a reason new locations of this restaurant are opening up left and right in the IE. Yucaipa just got one and they're opening another in Palm Springs in an impressive 'in the middle of everything' location. The only shortcoming of this location is it's a tad too informal for my taste. Like it's more a well lit room than a cozy area you might lounge in. However, that shortcoming is rather common in the IE where I wonder if a place looks a little posh the customers turn and run. The staff is great, the service prompt (even when busy), the boba drinks are delightful -- what's not to love? I'm certain that almost anyone who comes here will likely return. I just went yesterday and a rainbow appeared above ONE MORE BITE DUMPLING. Exactly how I feel about this place.

For the mountain, it's solid, the bartenders are friendly, the drinks are good, and the food is decent. That said, my main concern is with the atmosphere. It's... fine. And that's exactly the problem. As most of us know, there's a serious lack of entertainment options up here, especially for people under 60. Despite the older demographic, there's still a sizable group of younger, creative, and social folks looking for something to do. Sure, you could be satisfied with a '70s rock cover band for the 100th time in the village, but if not, then Dogwood has the potential to be the go-to spot if it just puts in a bit more effort. The last event listed on your website was in 2019. The last Instagram post was over two months ago, and the one before that was for New Year's Eve. With that kind of minimal effort in promoting and programming, it's no surprise the vibe is lacking.
