Ordered a lettuce wrap and a fried rice and was left disappointed for the amount of money the establishment charges. The lettuce wrap lacked flavor while the rice overwhelmed me with grease which must have been a substitute for the essential ingredients in a fried rice. Beware!! Chinese food is not inherently my favorite kind of food, however when the take out menu du jour got tossed up on the door step I took a second look. The glossy menu has a lot of appealing dishes on the front, and oddly enough, what caught my eye was the sushi, not the traditional Chinese dishes. Now, I must confess, I've never been to this place to eat - I couldn't point out the building if I tried. But for delivery - not to shabby. The ordering process is simple, the staff very pleasant and delivery has always been less than 30 minutes. I've ordered delivery from here a few times and I've always been pleased with the taste and the promptness. Their most recent menu says "Under New Management", but the only difference I noticed on my latest order was now the green salad includes avocado slices. So on that point, anyway, I guess kudos to the new manager? Because who doesn't love some avocado on the side? Anyway, I typically get the sesame chicken. It definitely satisfies, but I wouldn't say it rocked my world. There's a place up in NoHo called Little China that does it just a little bit better. But I live and play on the Westside, so c'est la vie. At least they serve sesame chicken--at some Chinese places, you can't even get it. They get a plus for aesthetics. Ordered the Orange shrimp lunch special, and my mouth watered when it was served. The shrimp looked crispy and the sauce looked like it was going to taste incredible, but unfortunately looks can be deceiving. The orange sauce was bland, no spice and hardly any flavor. The shrimp was either overcooked or pre-cooked, then reheated. Whatever the case, it was of a rubbery consistency and did not taste fresh. So for presentation and the ability to grab a quick bite while my car was getting cleaned a block away, a generous 2 stars. Let's just say I barely got through my food. I really had high hopes for this place... I don't know why but I did. And now I have regrets. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and instead got sweet chicken mush... The batter that they use on the chicken is horrible because once it's wet it turns into mush... Chicken was bland. Surprisingly good... Although I don't usually try an abundance of food(and am limited, being pregnant and all..) I got three different items this time. Their lunch special, which was a pretty darn good California Roll and a shrimp tempura roll for $8(sure, you can get better pricing at happy hour, but we're talking lunch time here). They used my favorite, mixed crab meat, not the chunk of crab with celery and God knows what else. Yuck. I also ordered potstickers, because why? They're delicious! 10 for $5. They wrap them a little loose, but the filling is definitely up to par. Funny thing, I ordered over the phone, and when I went to pick up, the guy had no idea what a pot-stick-uh was, Ha! Luckily the lady who took my order was there. She was super friendly, making small talk about my obvious 6 month preggo belly and her own kids (makes for easy conversation). I realize I've taken Mandarin Chinese & Japanese for granted, but finally decided to add my review because I was surprised by some of the vitriol. I have patronized them for 12 years now and have always been pleased with the food and the service. They don't pretend to be one of the more upscale restaurants you'd find in Chinatown or in the San Gabriel valley. They are our neighborhood take-out place and always do a terrific job.Sometimes I order Chinese, sometimes I order sushi. The food is always fresh and delicious, securely contained and warm. The food is good the delivery is fast but they forgot our new employees egg roll no dipping sauce unless you ask I was told. When you are new customers how would you know to ask? I asked them to come back with the missing egg roll and won ton and they could have said here's a few more for the inconvenience. We have ordered large orders for good bye parties and in office lunches for new employees. It's just a little customer service appreciation that would have made this a 5 star posting. We have a ton of restaurants that would love our lunch orders and we may just switch up. Plus plenty of free 30 min parking. Oh well just an FYI everyone. I succumbed to the flyer in my mailbox tactic. A few days after Thanksgiving I wanted good food but something light. We ordered three sushi rolls (rainbow, red dragon, spicy tuna) and the chicken fried rice with the fried wonton appetizer. It fed three people comfortably and everyone agreed it was awesome! It came in a decent amount of time, maybe 20-30 minutes and was VERY VERY good! The sushi was fresh, the rice not too greasy, and the wontons were wonderful. Overall I was very happy with my purchase, although (I felt) it was a bit on the expensive side? Maybe I am just not used to sushi prices aside from Hara Sushi on Santa Monica Blvd.? This is the best Chinese food in the area. I learned long ago, if its strongly supported by its own...it's definitely the place to go. The Lunch menu is a GREAT VALUE, and an inexpensive way to gratify your palette. Rude delivery guy. Shouted into my house and seemed very stressful when I paid. Even said "F#ck" when he grabbed my card. Sushi is 4/10 and the soya needs to chill down with the salt. Too salty, wow. The restaurant is clean and neat. There was only one other dine in customer while I was there. I received a friendly greeting from a young man who's English wasn't the best. He did a "fair" job of explaining the menu to me. My first choice, was the shrimp/vegetable tempura. I asked if it came with a salad or soup, he told me it didn't. He suggested I order from the lunch menu which I did and ordered a shrimp dish. The order arrived promptly, and he brought both the dishes I was interested in. Mandarin Chinese is our go-to for Chinese delivery. They're relatively inexpensive, delivery is crazy fast, and the drivers are always super nice. We've eaten in the restaurant before, but it's not really designed to be a sit-down place. I'd recommend ordering delivery or taking your food home. Our favorites are: cream cheese wontons, fried potstickers, BBQ pork, pork fried rice, and chicken with string beans. I've tried the sushi, and it's just ok. Nothing to write home about. If you want white rice with your meal, you need to order it separately. It's only $1, so it's not a huge deal, but it would be nice if it were included with every order. read more
