Owner Jeff working with team to ensure every customer gets the best they have to offer ... Food is quite tasty! Smash burger excellent and the marinaded chicken spiedie sandwich quite flavorful. (spiedie is a sandwich originating from Binghamton, New York, made of marinated, cubed meat (traditionally lamb, but now commonly chicken, pork, or beef) that is skewered, grilled, and served on a slice of Italian bread. The meat is marinated for at least 24 hours in a zesty mixture of oil, vinegar, garlic, and herbs, which tenderizes it and gives it a unique flavor!) Shoestring fries AND waffle fries were excellent!! Store is easy access and clean. Would definitely recommend!

We finally tried this place and it did not disappoint. We both had the smash burgers. Their sauce is yummy. The burger was seasoned well - could have been smashed even more. My husband wishes the edges were a bit crispier. The bun was fluffy and fresh and the cheese was noticeably delicious! No fountain drinks but bottled drinks for sale. The staff was nice, pleasant. There's about 6 or so tables inside. Clean. Restrooms were clean.

I met my friend for lunch today. The food is great. Everything was cooked to order and came out hot and fresh, including fries. My friend had the speedy and the beignets. She said it was delicious. The chicken was perfect and the bread was soft. I ordered a double trouble, shoestring fries and a cookie. The staff are great, accommodating, care about your experience. We enjoyed our meal. I'll be returning soon to try more menu items.

Manders 22 - Flavor, Speed & Heart! Manders 22 is hands-down one of the best local spots in town! The food has the flavor and quality of a high-end restaurant with the speed and friendliness of your favorite neighborhood café. There's something for everyone -- juicy smash burgers, crispy fries, hearty chili, fresh salads, Spiedies, subs, and even lasagna trays to go (seriously, layers of cheesy, meaty perfection!). The owners, a father-and-son team, are local, community-minded, and treat every guest like family. You can feel the pride and love in every bite. My favorite? The Spiedie Salad -- marinated, char-grilled chicken over crisp greens and veggies. It's healthy, flavorful, and brings me right back to my Upstate NY roots. Fast, fresh, and family-run -- Manders 22 is not a chain, it's a gem! Highly recommend!

Excellent smash burger. Waffle fries were a little hard. The only other negative is there is no drink machine.

This place has the best smash burgers. It's pretty much the only thing I really recommend.

Great burger and friendly service. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Not a chain and reasonably priced for what you get.

It definitely lived up to our expectations! The beef was juicy, the portions were huge, and the bread was soft! It was delicious! It includes eggplant, prosciutto de Parma, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, broccoli rabe, long hot peppers, and balsamic glaze. Phew! Tons of ingredients, I liked it but it lacks seasoning, mainly salt, lol. Overall, we enjoyed both sandwiches and we can't wait to go back and try the other items on their menu.

I just happened to be in the area, decided to stop in, and I'm so glad I did. My order was ready exactly when promised, and from the first bite, it exceeded every expectation. Every bite was packed with incredible taste, and all the ingredients worked together perfectly. If you're looking for an authentic, unforgettable sandwich, this is it. I'll definitely be making the drive back for another one.

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Everything on the menu is delicious, the staff is wonderful, and they stand up to bigotry in their own backyard. You can't get much better than that. The only drawback (if you can even consider it one) is just figuring out a good time to arrive to avoid a line. Regardless, even if there is one, the staff moves through it quickly and efficiently. As Sub Cultured is a walk-up window, there's some outside tables to sit, as well as the option of sitting in your car for that car-hop action. Otherwise, you're so close to the beach and parks that taking your sandwiches for a picnic isn't a bad idea either. If you can't find parking immediately at Sub Cultured, there's a little shopping center just next door since there doesn't seem to be much for street parking outside of their handful of spots. All of that said, I'm a transplant to Jacksonville via the Navy since 2004. One of the biggest cravings that I have from back home is a real authentic sausage, pepper, and onion grinder. I can't even begin to describe to y'all how great Sub Cultured's is with that spicy Italian sausage and perfectly cooked peppers and onions. Add a little spicy brown mustard and you're all set.

The chicken was very dry, although the vegetables were fresh, so I wish the chicken had been better prepared. One more thing I noticed was the parking situation. I felt the parking lot is located in a somewhat dangerous spot. Eureka (I have found it)! Hollywood in Florida!!!!…read more JUST like Dr. Indiana Jones combing through the jungles seeking his ancient museum artifacts, I was navigating the curvy wilds of the Jacksonville Southpoint area, located near I-95 and JTB. The best things in life require some effort to build your appetite, and whereas I did not collect a golden idol like Dr. Jones, I was rewarded instead with a cheerful new friend and one of the absolute FRESHEST sandwiches in JAX! Nestled between the sparse woods and surrounding offices you will find happy, loyal diners who fill Hollywood Heroes and Subs each lunchtime to the point where the line stretches out the door. I had just seen the last of the lunch crowd smiling and saying goodbye for the day to our energetic and upbeat host, Founder, sandwich artist and Jacksonville native Kevin Porter, an actor turned restaurateur -- known for roles including "Lazer" in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, plus appearances in Daredevil and General Hospital. Something that cannot be "acted" around was his genuine welcome and desire to roll out the red Hollywood carpet for all who make the journey (yes, it's a REAL red carpet)!! This sweet shop is the perfect size, and has a significant amount of Hollywood memorabilia all around to keep you engaged while chatting with Kevin as he works his magic. And what he produced was a treasure of cheese and meats that made me forget about whatever might have been chasing me through those woods to get there! J/K In between wonderful conversation with Kevin, each bite of my MASSIVE "The Towering Inferno" hot hero (pepperoni, Genoa salami, cappy and melted provolone) on fresh baked Village Bread made me realize just how huge and delicious this thing was. Kevin promised that the one pictured is exactly what every customer will get...he prides himself on highly generous portions at fair prices...and man, did he deliver!! I would have been completely satisfied with HALF, but NO!!!! There sat its twin, begging for sacrifice to the stomach Gods. I was only too happy to oblige! The owner Kevin = engaging, friendly, talented with his craft, makes you feel like you drove through the woods to come home to your happy place. The ambiance = bright, colorful, great memorabilia, puts you as the star of the show. The sandwiches = creative in name and product with fresh being the operative word, this sandwich hit above its price point and I can't wait to try to the rest of the menu! So no, I didn't get chased by a boulder, or leave with Dr. Jones' golden idol, but I did get a Golden Belly from my experience, and the knowledge of why hundreds of hungry lunch- goers seek this "Temple of Delish" every day!! Crack the whip and corral your family into the car for this absolute treat in the core of "ancient Jacksonville!!"
