Food was fantastic and service wonderful in this charming Italian restaurant! I've been going to this particular place since 1995, owners have changed several times. Since it became Mangia Napoli it is the best! Mangia Napoli is a wonderful Italian Restaurant that i feel is under rated. But that aside, ive gone there for pizza slices at lunch often, and then i went there for dinner with my wife and i was just amazed at how good the service is, the atmosphere is very warm and traditional, and the FOOD? WOW! I have ordered several of their specials and entrees for dinner and each of the dishes were super impressive. I would highly recommend their Italian Ribeye. Its a big and juicy cut of steak perfectly prepared with wonderful italian veggies on the side. Last week had the veal parmigian and again.... just beautiful. You will find Gina and her crew of chefs Vince will bring you an Italian dining Experience! Really nice people that obviously enjoy their jobs. The best pizza in Elmhurst, hands down! We've ordered pizza take out for a dozen plus times and it's always consistent and delicious. Our favorite toppings are sausage and garlic or spinach. they have daily specials, including half off cheese pizzas on Mondays. We've dined in several times and had the lasagna..amazing! and the Bacala (cod fish) so fresh and flavorful. Also tried the seafood pasta, hearty seafood. Service is good, owner on occasion comes to your table to ask about food. Nice touch. Come for the pizza but try their other dishes. Reasonable prices.You won't be disappointed. read more

I am a little over a week overdue for my review, but I have to say this place was THE BOMB!!! Outstanding authentic Italian food and hospitality. I was here last weekend two nights in a row. The first night I had the Shrimp Scampi, which I felt could have used a tad more garlic in the sauce underneath the pasta. Other than that, it was fantastic! Loved the arugula and shredded carrots that came on it, which brought color and more flavor to the scampi, making it pop. Shrimp was good size and quality as well. I also had the minestrone soup which was the absolute best I've ever had, consisting of a medley of vegetables (such as carrots, celery, zucchini, and potatoes). Savored every single sip of it. Both nights I had the Italian sausage & peppers as an appetizer, which was by far the best thing I've had here. I would love to have that on a sandwich or with pasta sometime! I wonder if you guys offer something like that on your menu. Loved your prosciutto & arugula pizza too (which was what I had the second night). Excellent quality prosciutto and tomato sauce. Cannoli was awesome too... crisp, crunchy shell and creamy ricotta filling, just the way I like it! Above & beyond service too by the way. Hope to see you guys again soon!! read more

So, it looks like they've changed names again...Nancy's...then Melina's....now Mangia Napoli. Despite this, the pizza still seems the same! My previous review still holds true. We had a stuffed/deep dish sausage, pepper and mushroom and two thin crust, one with pepperoni and one with sausage, onions, and peppers for Christmas Eve. All were excellent and unchanged from previous names of this establishment. I'm not sure if ownership has changed or if they have just rebranded a couple of times. They were very busy with holiday take-out orders, and so the wait was a bit longer than usual, but they were honest about this when we called to put in the order and the pizzas were ready, hot out of the oven at the promised time. I've not had anything but pizza from here and haven't dined in for decades so won't comment on anything else, but this is an excellent place for takeout pizza! read more

My sister and I stopped in for dinner during our trip to Chicago. The service was lovely--bartender gave us the warmest welcome and goodbye, and our server was prompt, kind, and attentive. The food was incredible. The sauce on the Chicken Parmigiana was perfect--robust and flavorful. When I return to Chicago, I will definitely be back even if we don't stay in the same area. read more

Came here for the first time with a group of 7 and we had a reservation. Service was incredibly good, the wait staff were all very kind and I believe it was the owner that came to check on us herself a couple times. There's a bar in front and restaurant seating in the back, very nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!! read more

This restaurant used to be called Nancy's Pizza, specializing in deep dish pizza. The atmosphere inside is fairly dark, with tile floors and it has that feel of a pizza joint from the last century. I ordered carry out, having not eaten here for years. I ordered Chicken Vesuvio and cheese tortellini, they both came with your choice of side and the Vesuvio came with a pan of mostacciolli. I prefer old school Vesuvio, where a half chicken was cut up, browned and cooked in oil, white wine, garlic and lemon. Today most places use skinless chicken breasts. Their version is served with roast potatoes and it is an acceptable yet uninspired version. The dish is negative on the wow factor. The Mostaccoilli that comes as a side is served with a pasty marinara . The Cheese Tortellini was a nice surprise, it came with a adequate Alfredo sauce. We really enjoyed that dish. Side salads were okay. To be fair their menu is pizza heavy with a lot of choices. I think they are trying to re-invent their pizza establishment into a Italian trattoria. Unfortunately the food side really misses the mark. read more

Fantastic food. Just came here for a group party after having family and kids downtown Elmhurst and had great service (from the server, Aldi) fantastic pizza, pasta, etc, and Apps. Everything we had tasted great and the sauces were on point and cooked perfectly We had everyone drinking alcohol and everyone including Wendy (manager/owner) came to make sure we were all taken care of. I know they came in a year ago after changing over a few times over the past 5 years, but the food and service was exceptional. You could argue that the interior is not a high end restaurant and could use some updating. However, for an in town place that had great tasting food and great service. I would highly recommend coming back. read more

I love it. Awesome staff, you get a feeling like you're walking into a Scene from a Scorsese flick. I feel comfortable enough in all the Chefs to try everything on the menu. I have nothing but positive to say about Mangia! They were so nice and accommodating and the food was delicious! We got stuck in Chicago because of the United Airlines fiasco. After 5 hours of waiting line at UAL counters, we decided to call it a night and got a hotel. We went here the next day for lunch. They weren't even open for table service but let us in anyway-wow! I had the veal Marsala with a side of pasta and the hubby had a seafood rigatoni with vodka sauce. It was to die for. If you are in Chicago, this place is definitely worth going here for a meal. My boyfriend and I decided to try a different pizza place than our usual to change it up and boy and was I impressed! We had ordered for take out a few weeks ago and the thin crust pizza was amazing! Still warm when we got home but nonetheless amazing so tonight we decided to eat inside because mondays are half priced thin crust and I was even more blown away! I'm a picky pizza person so this is legit amazing thin crust. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was very crispy and cooked to perfection. The point is that you really need to go inside this restaurant to appreciate it. Don't just drive by!! The food is excellent and the decor appealing. I had the Chicken Melina and I would definitely order it again. The other members of the group ordered various pasta dishes, from lasagna to cheese ravioli. Everyone was pleased. Came here for my mom's neighbor's birthday party. It's not a huge spot so it was a bit crowded trying to move around in their back area but boy did they have a ton of food. It was interesting the order in which everything was presented. Better than sex. There is one item that is not good. The Po Boy shrimp. Out of place and not good. Their pizzas are BEYOND good. It comes down to the dough/ crust. If my pizza was a woman I would marry it. Alas I ate my future wife. Yeah I know. Shut up! Every dish is beautiful. Excellent. The Mangia Napoli (chicken) gave me sooo much gas... avoid it. I work in the area so I frequent this place often. My job orders massive amounts of pizza from here too especially when the weather is bad and they don't want is leaving on our lunches or just because they're feeling generous that day. Anywho, I'm not a fan of the pizza. It tastes good, but it's really greasy. Every time it eat the pizza I get really sick. I honestly have no clue why I do it to myself. The salads tho!!!!!! Love this place. Wanda is very accommodating. We held at bridal shower here and just loved it. The food was outstanding. The wait staff is very considerate. Wanda noticed that my cousin wasn't eating. Turns out she is Celiact and has to eat gluten free only, we weren't aware of it. We had pasta and chicken breast. Fabulous Italian made from scratch. Only 4 stars due to service. We have dined in maybe 30 times and the service has been fair 10 times and worse the remainder. Go for the food and plan your time around the service. We have had good luck with the takeout as well. read more
