Didn't know this place was here but glad I found it. I thought it was connected to Del Ponte's but it isn't. The food was nicely done. The calamari was the best I have had in a while. We were at Mangiare Tu a few weeks ago and the food and overall experience were amazing. We started our night off with the Sicilian meatballs and what a great choice it was. The best I ever had. For dinner, I had the double cut breaded Sicilian pork chop with cherry peppers, fennel, onion, and lemon thyme. It was outstanding! My girlfriend had the halibut with artichoke, tomatoes and orzo. She said the fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked and the orzo was a nice touch. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were on top of everything. Lana, the owner, even stopped by our table to make sure we were happy with our meal. Overall, it was a delicious dinner, great ambience and a perfect night. If you want authentic Italian food than THIS is the place!! Consistently fabulous and always interesting flavors mixed together that are especially delicious. The ambiance is cozy with soft music in the background. Lana the owner couldn't be more friendly and accommodating and in fact makes it a fun dining experience. The desserts are all homemade ( literally) sometimes by her daughter. It's our "go to" place whenever we have out of town guests. NEVER DISAPPOINTS and our friends are always impressed that this restaurant is in Bradley Beach! They also have theme nights sometimes like Disco Night which is a blast. I cannot speak more highly of this restaurant. We were impressed from the moment we walked in at how incredibly assertive their service was. We barely sat down and our waitress came right over to open our wine (BYOB). Once we settled in and had a few sips of our wine, our waitress asked us if we had ever been there before (it was our first time) and she clearly explained all of the items on the menu. Before ordering, Lana came over to check on us to see if we needed help with the menu, which showed us how attentive she is to her patrons. We ended up ordering the S2FD, which is a seafood pasta served in a bread bowl and the veal chop pizzaiola. We have been to numerous places in Italy and I have an Italian mother (ssshhh don't tell her) and this may have been the best Italian meal we have ever had. Everything about our food was perfect. I don't think we had a real conversation during dinner because we kept going on and on about how amazing our food was. We took a look at the generous portions when our food came out and knew we wouldn't be able to finish everything...we finished everything. We even ordered dessert, which are all homemade. I also really have to give them props for the appropriate amount of time between ordering and being served. We have had experiences in recent history at restaurants where we order, have two sips of wine and bam our food has arrived. If we wanted fast food we would go to Burger King. We were able to sit, relax, enjoy our bread and wine but without it being too long that we got hangry. You can absolutely tell the food is served fresh right out of the pot and hasn't been sitting under heat lamps for hours. The quality of their food would have been enough for us to give them 5 stars and return but the service and dedication of their staff was phenomenal. Lana was constantly checking in with her customers and helping to clean off and set tables. I have been to numerous restaurants where the owner is present but just sits in the back at a table with their friends. She was so hands on and you can tell that the body moves from the head. I love the vibe of Mangiare Tu. It's cozy with an old fashioned charm, warm, lovely music. Lana, the owner who also cooks, goes out of her way to greet everyone to make sure her guests are happy. The rest of her team is likewise attentive and friendly. As a vegetarian, I especially enjoyed the artichokes francaise app, the eggplant parm was splendid, my friend loved the Sunday Sauce. Owner Lana has taken over this venue about a year now and has certainly made improvements in the food department. She formerly had this restaurant in Brick Township. We shared artichoke hearts In a lemon sauce -excellent. I ordered a pork chop Sicilian with cherry peppers - Very good. We shared the bread pudding- excellent plus possibly the best I've eaten. Staff very friendly, yet somewhat inexperienced. Gender-neutral restrooms. Our personal takes from this visit: Very difficult parking in winter, worse in season Very noisy-to be expected in a small dining room The smallest table ever dined on. The entree dishes hung over the edge, causing possible spillage. One couldn't fit everything on the table at once. My pork chops were very bony and a thin-cut for the price. Best Italian food "down the shore". I had veal parmigiana (not on the menu) with a side of linguine with olive oil, garlic and broccoli rabe. I realize this doesn't sound like a sophisticated or difficult to find meal, but the devil is in the details. Is the veal pounded too thick or too thin? Is it pan fried or deep fried? Here the veal was fork tender, obviously pan fried, thick enough to retain veal flavor (not overwhelmed by the breading) pasta was perfectly al dente, portion was generous. Everyone at my (sophisticated eater) table of seven loved their meal. The table shared the dessert sampler, everything was outstanding. This is a very small but extremely professional restaurant. Bring your own. It's not cheap, it's not a doggy bag slop house. The proprietress does not suffer fools gladly. So don't be foolish. read more

Probably should be a 4.5 Star review but Yelp just won't allow it yet. Friends suggested this restaurant and other friends reviewed it on Yelp. I must say that I agree wholeheartedly with their reviews. I was expecting it to be on Main Street but is was down 6th Avenue off of Main, located in a place formerly occupied by Bella Sogna. The look of the dining room is very similar but it seemed a little brighter. Now, for our meals. Carol and I decided to share the Shrimp & Calamari appetizer and it was delicious. The calamari is marinated and served with the shrimp and long hots in a thin broth - excellent for dipping your bread. I had the stuffed chicken breast and it was excellent, stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and served with carrots and potatoes. Carol chose a pasta dish called Creste de Gallo that had a light parmesan cheese sauce over a uniquely shaped pasta, along with pancetta and peas - and she loved it. Dessert was a bread pudding - that kept me from giving the restaurant a 5. It was a bit of a disappointment. All in all, a great dining experience and being BYOB just adds to the allure. And we had almost the same meal: charred Caesar salad for my wife; Sicilian meatballs for me (almost a dinner portion, with fennel salad with balsamic dressing) then poached halibut for my wife and delicious GF pasta with eggplant and ricotta. Then a splendid tartufo with deep chocolate, pistachio, and strawberry gelato. That menus should speak for itself, but several things should be added. Lana, the owner / cook was in evidence: very friendly and warm. Our waitperson, Jennifer, made it seem that there was no question too difficult, no request too odd. The dishes benefited from very subtle cookery -- the poached halibut was light, tender, moist (a very high standard for fish cookery where halibut usually arrives as a tense brick); the pasta was full of flavor and light, airy. A wonderful experience. We come to Ocean Grove once a year but we will return to Mangiare Tu, which is like being welcomed into Lana's home where the living is easy and the food, delicious. read more

Wow - another great Italian restaurant on the Jersey shore. Wanting to try this place for awhile we finally made it yesterday for a delicious Sunday dinner. Bread service very nice including the eggplant tapenade. Our starter was an excellent rendition of clams oreganata made with small little necks. Our mains of chicken milanese with arugula and shrimp scampi over linguini were both delicious as well as generous portions. Sharing a slice of ricotta cheese cake and expresso coffees was a nice finish to a really enjoyable meal. The ambience was very nice in deed with the soft music playing in the background and the service provided by our waitress excellent, additionally the owner was exceptionally nice and attentive. Hard to believe in just a short period of time the Jersey shore has added yet another excellent Italian restaurant. I recommend you put Mangiare Tu on your short list. read more

My wife and I asked a friend if she could recommend a good Italian restaurant for the two of us. She told us that she ate at a small place near Belmar that she loved so we thought we'd give it a try. We love to try new restaurants every Saturday We arrived a bit early but we're seated right away by Lana,the owner, very pleasant and very friendly. We ordered the charred Caesar, the baked clams and the artichoke Francaise for our starters All were outrageously good but hands down the best were the baked clams. Best we ever had. We split the citrus chili short rib for our main. It was delicious. Four of us went for dinner the other night & unfortunately our meal was not as good as the last visit. Staff: Should be 6 stars! All friendly, personable, & efficient. Atmosphere: 4 stars, somewhat loud but very pleasant with a beautiful outdoor area. Food tonight: 3.5 The bread they serve is fantastic & the eggplant served with it is incredible! I could make a meal of that alone. We ordered the special appy of corn & shrimp that was plentiful & delicious (you could taste the creamy butter, probably not healthy but a girl's got to eat:) We also shared an order of calamari which was pretty tasty, however we found out they throw the tentacles out, disappointing some at our table. The problem was with the main course. I ordered the special mahi mahi with mashed potatoes & mango salsa. The food tasted good, but the fish was overdone & the mango salsa made the whole dish room temperature. Very disappointing. I do love this place & will return, it is well worth it. Hopefully during the off season, & not on a holiday weekend, it will be as good as I know they can make it. read more

Our first time coming here 7/16/20 after following them on IG for over 2yrs. I wanted to hit myself in the head for not trying this amazing restaurant sooner. Like they advertised a Manhattan restaurant down the shore, but not any Manhattan restaurants, RAO's in East Harlem... This is as close as you will get to homemade authentic Italian Mom cooking. I don't know what's happening in Bradley these days but I'm definitely liking it. I'm referring to the influx of new excellent Italian restaurants sprouting up here. Mangiare Tu is one of those worth noting. Being a shore town I try to avoid such places in the summer so we came post Labor Day. MT is a family run business that started out in Brick, sold, and now reincarnated in Bradley Beach. The owner and family are long time restauranteurs and it shows. There are old Italian standards on the menu with innovative entrées as well; i.e. pappardelle with a short rib ragu. My wife and I decided on splitting the homemade mozzarella with pignoli, roasted red pepper, raisins, basil, & balsamic. Exquisite! The owner recommended the stuffed chicken which I ordered. It was stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto covered in mushrooms and a light marsala sauce served with seasoned roasted potatoes and carrots. This too was a memorable dish that came hot piping hot. We shared a creamy tiramisu that was perfect. Our server was awesome as was the food. I highly recommend MT even if you can't pronounce it. We'll be back. Prices read more

Turned out to be fortuitous, since a wine shop was less than a minute away. We therefore "moved up" on our two different selections of Italian Barolo's. Our party of five ordered Short Ribs, Halibut and Eggplant Parmigiana. All excellent selections and well beyond the Italian food we get in Texas. The atmosphere was quaint and as my wife said cute. Went here for Valentine's Day with my fiancé after seeing the preset menu on Instagram. It's a small little Italian place off the main road. The food both looked and tasted amazing. We found our meals to be very creative and foodie although there were also more traditional options. Wait staff was overall attentive and friendly. Had been dying to try this place since seeing my friends dinner picture on social media. She had this gorgeous fra diavolo in a breadbowl. Went in and ordered the same. My dinner date ordered the short ribs. The short ribs were inedible. The pasta was hard. There was hardly ANY meat on the plate. He ended up telling the waitress he couldn't eat it. Mine was NOTHING like my friend s fra diavolo. Same place. Same price. Same menu item. If you look at the picture comparison you will see it was Hardly the same. I tried to email them at the address in the website but it bounced back. I Facebook messaged them but did not get a response. This is just not fair for the prices of the food here. If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. I made a reservation with this place and canceled it a half an hour later. The day of the reservation, they called me to ask where I was and I told them that I was not coming per my cancelation the same day that I made the reservation. The woman on the phone fought back and forth with me and started yelling at me FOR THEIR MISTAKE. I had informed them that I canceled the reservation the day that I made it and they said that it did not matter and that they would charge my card $200 and HUNG UP ON ME with no apology. Absolutely unacceptable and TERRIBLE customer service. I cannot believe this and will never come here. So upsetting. We DID in fact CANCEL our reservation and follow policy. We canceled the SAME day that we made the reservation on July 21 and have PROOF and can gladly bring it by the restaurant. I am not sure why we received a call the day of to confirm our reservation when we had dutifully canceled it. Seems like a scam to me. We mistakenly confirmed the reservation the day of because we were on the beach and couldn't fully hear and thought it was the restaurant that we had made the reservations at. Because why would this restaurant be calling us to confirm a reservation we had canceled? So unfortunate that we were held responsible for the incompetence of this business for not recording that we canceled our reservation THE SAME DAY WE MADE IT. This is why my family and I will never eat at restaurants like this. We were also never told that we'd be given a credit to use within 90 days, and we did not yell, the owner of the restaurant did, and we did not put 3 to 4 people on the phone. It was two people. One of which being my mom. The reservation was for her milestone birthday. So thank you for ruining my mom's birthday dinner and for your unprofessionalism. read more

Bradley Beach has a nice up and coming Main Street and this spot is definitely on track. We came in with a large party for a special celebration. The staff was attentive and dinner was served without a single mistake. Very rare for a large party. The table was supplied with some nice flaky bread and an eggplant bruschetta. It was kind of sweet and savory. For my entree I had the pork bolognese. Overall a very tasty dish with nice large chunks of pork. My one complaint is that it did not have that overall classic bolognese flavor. It was delicious don't get me wrong but seemed to be missing a spice or two that I suppose I am accustomed to. Not one of my favorites. Went on a rainy off-season night. Place was basically empty. Served bread with no butter or olive oil. Asked for water- twice. We were a party of two. Ordered 2 good sized apps and an entree to share. After taking the order, the waitress returned to inform us there'd be an extra $5.00 charge for sharing. Really???? Is that how customers are encouraged to return? And at that, no plates were provided at all for salad and calamari app! The bread was cold, almost stale. The salad was a bagged lettuce mix with a couple of cherry tomatoes. Calamari was ok. Rigatoni with chicken and broccoli rabe had very little chicken and even less broccoli rabe. The pasta needed a life preserver as it was drowning in the broth it was served in. The background music was almost depressing. Maybe they won't have to worry about pleasing me again. read more

We were very disappointed with this place. Read the reviews and most sounded good. I have to agree with Matthew, my pasta came out swimming in broth even after I asked the waitress to please have the kitchen drain the pasta.( this was after a lady at the next table sent hers back for that reason). The bread was cold and we also had to ask for some butter ( came out almost frozen). No dipping sauce.either. We shared an arugula salad that had a funny after taste dressing on it. I had penne with sundried tomatoes and spinach swimming in that broth that did not taste like much. Had to ask for garlic to jazz it up. Hubby had flounder that was just ok. Food was fair at best and service was extremely slow. I was shocked when our appetizers arrived and we asked for small plates as we were sharing and that bothered the server who pointed out that we could use our bread plates. We live around the corner but will not be back. Anthony, The world that I come from usually would not respond to your ridiculous response to my review. Your excuse for our slow service was that we did not have a reservation which is laughable as there were only four tables occupied when we arrived and the same amount when we left. We eat out several times a week at the finest restaurants all over the world and yours is definitely not one of them. Perhaps your restaurant will improve when your attitude does. I was sure to share our dining experience with the many many family members who live in town and now I will be sure to share your response. You should spend some time working in a fine restaurant under a experienced chef and perhaps you will learn how to cook and run a restaurant.
