This is a hidden gem in a town full of great eating establishments. It's a BYOB! The owner and staff are excellent The food is as good as you would have from your mom or grandmother. Found this spot while getting Pastries @delpontes. Restaurant opens at 4pm, and the reservation process is easy. You call and leave a message and Lana calls you back to confirm the reservation. ( they do require that you give them a credit card # to hold the reservation). We requested and were seated outside and we were comfortable with the table. Francesca our waitress came over and recommended 2 of the specials tat were not on the menu. ( This is also a BYOB ) We selected 2 entree's Meatballs and salad. The 3 meatballs were huge and more importantly delicious. We found out that they use meat from Pat Lafrieda. the salad was a finely chopped mixture of greens with a light balsamic vingrette. I ordered my all time favorite Chicken Parm. I would recommend ordering extra sauce as it compliments the chicken and scoop of fresh homemade pasta. There was enough to ask for a take-out container. over all I was pleasantly surprised. We also apprecieted the fact that Lana came over to introduce herself and interact with us by giving us a short history of the restaurant as she grew up in NYC in the Hells kitchen area. I was really trying to put off giving this restaurant a review because the truth is, its a hidden gem and I was hoping to keep it secret! My family and I made a last minute reservation on a busy Saturday night during the summer, skeptical about the food since they were able to accommodate us last minute with no issues. This is a small, BYOB restaurant just around the corner from the bakery on Main in Bradley Beach. We ordered the calamari and shrimp appetizer the first time we went and the friend calamari to start on the next visit. We had the chicken parm for dinner and my Mom had the veal milanese. Coming from Manhattan, the bar is high on Italian food but Mangiare Tu is right in line with some of the best NYC Italian spots. We had the pleasure of eating at Mangier Tu twice last week while on our annual vacation in Bradley Beach. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were glad we took the time to find it, as it's hidden away on Brinley Avenue behind Del Ponte's bakery, the pizza restaurant and a Columbian restaurant. But it was worth the effort. The dining room is very tasteful with vintage black and white celebrity photos of stars digging into various Italian favorites and simple, elegant decor. We went on a quiet Tuesday night and a busy Saturday night and both times were very pleased. We'll be back next year and hope they'll still be going strong! read more

My husband and I love this place! It's BYOB and super cozy. Lana's meatballs are bomb! They serve them on top of marinara with a big ole scoop of ricotta. If you love Française, this is the spot to get it. It made me even like artichokes! I'd put that sauce on anything. My husband either gets the Pork Sicilian or the hearty and delicious papperdelle. You also have to make sure you get a little espresso and the flourless chocolate cake. Everything always tastes like grandma was in the kitchen cooking all day and we love it! Had dinner here for first time. Thought we'd try it because we can walk here. Couple of things: they kept asking us if we had a reservation even though there were plenty of tables open. Service was just OK. The waiter who took our order never came back to check on us after we received our food. The food was good. Not great. Very pricey for a "local" place in Bradley Beach. $25 for pasta (and it wasn't a big enough portion to take some home for lunch the next day). The Bolognase sauce, which was a special, had very little meat. Indon't think we will go back. There are other places, less expensive with good (if not better) food. PS. It is a BYOB. So glad I read about this restaurant in our local paper. We ate here for the first time ( but not the last) on a chilly Sunday evening. This is a family run restaurant open for a year. We were greeted warmly by our waitress - a member of the family. A BYOB, this restaurant is cozy and well lit, decorated with black and white photos of recognizable stars - all photos food related... reminding us of a restaurant we visited in Rome, as did the appetizer we shared of artichoke hearts in a light, lemony sauce: perfect and delicious; our entrees - veal saltimbocca and grouper were perfectly cooked, substantial ( I had left -overs for the next night) and delicious... dishes both served with vegetable (carrots) and potatoes - roasted and mashed. Dessert was a house made ricotta cheesecake - light and scrumptious. We had a lovely, delicious dinner and can't wait to return. read more

Asked for a simple substitution of penne pasta instead of mashed potatoes to go with my chicken francese & the waitress refused saying "sorry, no substitutions on the weekends.. even though the restaurant was more than 1/2 empty! After reading all the reviews on Yelp we were expecting a great meal. We experienced quite the opposite. The meal started out nicely with great bread and eggplant complimentary appetizer. After that it was all downhill. We were a party of four. Restaurant was 1/2 empty. Everyone's food was served room temperature!! I ordered the pork chop special. Chop was served room temperature, side sauce was cold, mashed potatoes had chunks of garlic in them!! no mention of them being garlic mashed potatoes. Chop was butterflied and breaded, breading was mushy, meat tough, sauce no flavor. All four entrees were served room temperature. This is unacceptable. My wife had a seafood pasta dish, this could have been an outstanding meal if it was HOT!! The food business is a tough business and we all know that you are only as good as your last meal served. Too bad this was our first and last. We really wanted to like this place, we met the family and they are very nice. But......we go for the food and not the social experience. My favorite Italian spot at the Jersey Shore! From the eggplant caponata that is served with the crusty bread all the way to the amazing homemade desserts! I wanted so badly to love this place; it's taken over from the wonderful Bella Sogno, and kept the beautiful décor. But, it was awful. Veal saltimbocca, my favorite dish, was barely edible; the veal was like rubber, and instead of a rich brown, the sauce was watery green. My partner's salmon was so loaded with pepper and garlic that her mouth burned for hours afterward. In fairness, our dining companions seemed to enjoy their red-sauce dishes. I hate to ambush people who are clearly working hard - but for about $40 per person including tip, with 1/2 appetizer but without dessert, coffee, or wine, we expected far better. read more

Mangiare Tu has everything one could ever want when it comes to a beautiful dining experience. The service and staff are impeccable, the ambiance is amazing, the price is affordable, and most importantly, the food is phenomenal. I must say, I believe the chefs are perfectionists because the food comes out perfect every time. At my most recent visit I had the Milanese which was delicious. My boyfriend had the dry aged steak, and let me tell you, as delicious as my Milanese was, the dry aged steak is to die for!! I ate most of his steak, and he wasn't even mad because he knew the steak was that good. But you have to call ahead and reserve them because they go fast! Mangiare Tu is the pinnacle of Italian dining, all at a reasonable price. I travel from New York even during the cold winter months just to come to Mangiare Tu because it is that good. I cannot wait for the summer so Brunch can start!! So happy the secret is out, and I know why Mangiare Tu is the best kept secret on the Jersey Shore. read more
