Had lunch here today. It was fantastic! One of the top two meals during our two week visit to CO. The rooftop dining area is beautiful. Our server, Mera was great, she made excellent suggestions and answered all my annoying questions about the area. We had sweet potato fries to start - hot and delicious - followed by stuffed avocados and bacon cheeseburgers with house made beer cheese. We found this place after a day of skiing Vail on our way to Salida. The food was excellent as was the service!

There were 11 of us in Vail, Co for a wedding this past weekend and a couple we were with (from Nebraska) kept talking about how much we all were going to enjoy Mango's. They could not stop raving about their food, especially the fish tacos. I told them I would be the judge of that! Living in La Jolla, Ca I am blessed to be surrounded by the best fish tacos. For an appetizer we ordered a variety of things from chips with salsa, guacamole, and queso, chicken nachos, quesadillas, and spinach and artichoke dip. Everything was great and worth the order!!! The appetizer that stuck out the most was their chicken quesadilla. It was the best chicken quesadilla I have ever tasted. The chicken was perfectly cooked, cheese inside was perfectly melted, and the tortilla was cooked to perfection. The black beans were a great touch inside the quesadilla. When it was all gone it kept me wanting more. We ordered their fish tacos, Don Ho burger (pineapple, cheddar cheese, and teriyaki glaze), Floyd burger (Swiss, bacon, guacamole). The fish tacos have definitely made my top three best fish tacos in the nation. The Don Ho burger had the right amount of teriyaki sauce and was cooked perfectly to my liking (medium). The Floyd burger was delicious! The guacamole was fresh and the thick slices of bacon made every bite delightful. You also have the choice of fresh potato chips or fries. I highly recommend the fresh potato chips. they were thinly sliced and not hard and over cooked. The fries were were good as well, I was just in a chip mood. To wash all of this down we ordered a few pitchers of margaritas and of course some Coors Lights. You kind of have to being in the Rockies. I highly recommend this family establishment!!! The staff was very friendly and very attentive to anything we needed. The ambience was very soothing and not to mention the drive to get there is breath taking and beautiful. The food was decent. I've never had to say this in my entire life- but the chef here really needs to salt their food. Also, $2 for a sauce cup of tasteless guacamole is ridiculous! They really made up for it with their hot fries and fresh beers. The server couldn't get a beer to pour from the tap so she ended up comping us the beer. That was great service on her part! This place is hard to get to unless you are staying in Red Cliff, but that being said, it was the only game in town, so they get all the business. Let me start out by saying there's a pretty good chance you won't find yourself in Red Cliff by chance around meal time, so Mango's probably isn't someplace you could just "stumble" on, but let me tell you it's worth the trek. If you find yourself in Vail/Eagle/Edwards and looking for someplace away from the crowds of tourists, Mango's is the place to go. You have to do a bit of driving to get there, including some narrow curvy mountain roads, but the experience you'll get by doing so is well worth it. The location can't be beat...imagine a picturesque small mountain village, quiet and secluded, with amazing views (especially from the 3rd floor patio!). Definitely try the quesadillas. I know it may seem like a simple menu item, but theirs is unique and very well done...the tortillas are crusted with parmesan and it's stuffed with more good things than you can imagine. The fish tacos (which they seem to be known for) looked really great, but I wasn't feeling fish the night I was there so didn't indulge. Trust me, if you're anywhere near Vail and looking for a good meal with good people and GREAT views, Mango's can't be beat. read more

the Food was really good and we loved being able just snow mobile in. However we had a terrible expiernce with the waitress. After being exhausted and just trying to go home she ran after us outside to demand a tip (All but one of us had tipped her). In my opinion her service was not tip worthy but he gave her a tip anyway. Right before we left her friend ran after us asking if "we skunked" the waitress. Like what does that even mean. My first time to Mango's - I will come back when I come into the area. I am not normally a burger person, but the beer bacon burger spoke to me so I ordered that with the sweet potato fries. I can honestly say that this was the best burger I have ever eaten! The beef had a marvelous flavor, and the pretzel bun really made the meal. The fries were hot and did not seem to have come from a bag, but were freshly cut, I think. The beer-cheese sauce oozed out the sides so much that I ate it with a knife and fork. We have been coming here the last 4 or 5 years and it is fun. It is more the journey than the destination I suppose. They have decent fare and it is just something to do for the afternoon. This time was not such a pleasant experience. We were there on July 5th and they had one server for the whole restaurant and roof deck. They said they were just slammed with 50 people coming in. Still, you need to have more servers during one of the busier weeks of the year. Who knows, maybe one or two of the typical snow boarder lackadaisical workers overslept or just decided to go rafting for the day instead of working. Anyway they were just so disorganized. We had to take our own order (written down on a piece of paper) and run it down to the bar from the roof top terrace. They did bring our order up to us, but it was just painful. I wanted to tip myself!!! Anyway the food is Ok--decent burgers and the family does seem to like the fish tacos. If you are tired of the Vail restaurants, its worth the beautiful drive. So I thought I'd be disappointed with the fish taco because 1) it wasn't fried fish, and 2) we're in Colorado... but because it was so highly praised I decided to give it a try, and I was totally surprised. Although $5 for one taco is pretty damn expensive, it was large and stuffed to the brim with delicious grilled fish, a creamy sauce, cheese, and pico/lettuce. Honestly it might have been the best grilled fish taco I've ever had! The wings were also REALLY tasty and super fresh (although my group was the only one in the restaurant). PBR was $2.50. On special- a pound of wings for $9. It's a really cool building too- the second floor has a stage for live music, and the top floor has a great patio! read more

A couple of friends that I was visiting in Eagle are huge fans of Mango's so we drove over for a late lunch. First, the location and outdoor decks are wonderful. It was a beautiful day outside and perfect weather for sitting on their outdoor patio in the bright mountain sunshine. The atmosphere was really great as there was a constant stream of interesting skiers, snowmobile riders, and locals coming into the restaurant throughout the time we were there. It was just a cheerful, fun place to eat lunch. I ordered the Quesa Grand Quesadilla and was very happy with the flavor, texture and overall presentation. It was completely stuffed full of chicken, cheese, jalapenos, and other toppings and was just the right amount of spicy and crunchy. Other fiends ordered the fish tacos (also delicious) and salad with a very good balsamic vinaigrette. You know, I used to love Mango's when it really had nothing at all to offer but a broken down old room w/ a stained as shit pool table, 10 mangy dog's running rampant IN the restaurant - sniffing your crotch while you eat, a big ass bon fire off the back deck w/ half the town of Red Cliff getting high back there and some KICK ASS tacos and quesadillas (the best I've ever had!!). But since they've knocked down the old place and built the new place I really think they've lost a bit more than just their character. In fact I think it's turned into more of a night club than a taco joint. Not that a little reorganizing didn't do Red Cliff some good, I just think it's a shame to loose such a funky original place. read more

We love Mango's and go anytime we are near the Vail Valley. This place had multiple outdoor decks although some pay be closed depending on how busy they are. I always enjoy the fish tacos with a 90 Shilling (or any other beer for that matter)! The appetizers are good. Go and enjoy the deck and kick back and relax! I love the ritual of going to Mangos... the drive, the views, the ghost town of Gilman that is just hanging off edge of Battle Mountain... the tiny little town of Redcliff. The bar itself is so cool, with the model bridge behind the bar, and it definitely has that rustic chic- thang going for it... Although it definitely has become "tourista-fied" with the souvineer shirts and stickers....(Hello Hard Rock Cafe!) The grilled veggie nachos are decadant, literally the plate of nachos can probably feed a 3rd world country. Great fish tacos, burgers, etc. You can always strike up a conversation with a local at the bar. This place is hardly ever packed, unless there's a concert. Great job with having a bus back and forth from Vail, because as we all know, driving Hwy 24 at midnight isn't the safest idea. I still haven't worked up the courage to try the vodka concotion sitting on the bar that has a snake in the bottom, but maybe one day you'll see me at Mangos, drunk off my ass, and dare me to do a shot with you...
