I came here last weekend. It was my first time visiting Hawaii and unfortunately I got my ID confiscated at the door because the bouncer said it was a fake ID (which it is not, I'm turning 27). I had to call 911 because they refused to give me my ID back. I ran into a couple of other people who were also over age and having the same exact problem. It honestly seemed like the police were annoyed as well. Their exact words were "Apparently the bouncers don't feel like doing their job tonight" I would like to point out that there was no actual validation of real or fake IDs. No scanner. Nothing they could do to prove it was fake other than a "feeling?". It was really jarring to have my drivers license confiscated because if I didn't call the police to get it back I would have no valid ID to drive and also fly back to the mainland. This has never happened to me before. I wouldn't encourage you to go here for a good time. This whole ordeal ruined my night. read more

The best bar staff , friendly, knowledgeable and happy to be there. I was there on professional business and was already reaching for my ID and I politely introduced myself to the bouncer that I booked there that evening. And in a Sarcastic Dry non eye contact response , I got " I Still have to see your ID. No official welcome and had an attitude like I was trying to avoid happily complying or we were at CCC and he was in corrections. Since I was on the clock I had ice coffee served in a clear capped TO GO container. We were stopped OUTSIDE after walking a few seconds, and we hear HEY by the same dry guard saying we can't leave with "that" He was about 20 feet from his post sitting and I found it dumb for 2 reasons. Have manners at least once ,address me with simple respect. He didn't get up just raised his voice to avoid politely walking and asking us a redundant question ( why have to go cups with liquor if they never do that) Chinatown is a tough area but I've visited McDonald's in Seattle with friendlier guards for the first impression. What a truly interesting spot that gives you a lot of choices. For example, if you're in the mood for a nice cup of coffee then the next thing that you want a different drink from the bar now. I also love the comfort and relaxing vibe of this place which it's another hidden gem in chinatown. I even dig the interior space with a lot of seating where you would feel more comfortable in your own personal space too. I always get my usual caffeine fix for a cup of iced mocha which it was very well prepared for myself! It wasn't too overwhelming with sugar so it was perfectly balanced with some hint of chocolate and coffee. I even ordered a custom drink from the bar afterwards which it's called White Russian. It was definitely another happy drink that was being prepared with the right ingredients. Everything was pretty affordable from my side. Although I never had a chance to explore their food menu yet but I'll definitely give it a shot on my next visit for sure. The staff was super friendly and gave me a kind welcome then was waiting patiently for me in order for me to make a quick decision at the bar. Sad to say my review from 3 years ago is still pretty accurate. Manifest has maintained its consistency- consistent in quality drinks and consistent in un-satisfactory service. Cons: customer service needs MAJOR improvement. We entered on a weekday afternoon when there were no other customers. The female worker looked up, then looked back down. No welcome. (She did the same thing when another customer walked in and ended up walking back out probably sensing the cold welcome). We sat down to wait for another friend. After 10 minutes still no acknowledgement from the worker. I made my way up to the bar and spotted some menus and brought it back to our table. At this point we've been there for almost 20 minutes. The courteous thing would have been for the worker to acknowledge us and ask if we had questions or if we were ready to order. My friends and I each walked up to the bar to place the order and were told we need to show our IDs. After placing our order we sat back down. We didn't even know our drinks were ready until we looked up and saw them sitting on the counter. I guess the only positive note is that we were given waters without having to ask. The restroom has no soap dispenser despite a sign that says "Employees must wash hands before returning to work". That disgusted me. Pros: the drinks were well made and I would highly recommend each one. The ambiance is also great. And they have some interesting artwork on the walls. Happy hour daily from 6pm is another plus. Started going to chinatown to find good vibes recently, I accidentally bumped into the bouncer once and apologized, no harm no foul, once my friend accidentally bumped into him, the bouncer started pushing my friend (skinny as a twig) full force and kept yelling "I'm going to knock you the F*** out" despite my friend trying to apologize, at this point, the bouncer kept getting closer to him as if he was being provoked by my friend when he was genuinely sorry for bumping into him. I had to grab my friend and rush him out because there was no reasoning with this guy. We stumbled on this bar walking around downtown on Saturday morning waiting for another restaurant to open at 11a. This place was open so we came in for coffee. We were the only ones there and they had a pretty good bar food menu. So we decided to eat here instead. The ambience is great - feels like a really hip bar in New York. The deviled eggs were delicious. They have different flavored meatballs but I only tried the chorizo and they were super tasty and filling. The wedge salad was bigger than I expected but was also fresh and yummy. I never knew this place existed but it's great place to chill. The price is right and I want to come back later in the day for cocktails. Best deal for parking is in the municipal parking on Beretania. Otherwise meter parking is $3/hr max 2 hours. read more

An aesthetically pleasing cafe by day and a lively bar by night. During the day, I come here for a quick caffeine fix with a few of my coworkers. I can confidently say that I have tried every single item on the coffee drink menu and I have a few favorites. Before, I religiously drank the lavender latte but now my favorite is a dirty chai. According to the people who work there, the go to favorites are salted caramel or honey and milk. As for Manifest after dark, their first Fridays are lively and they become pretty packed. Another favorite thing about manifest is that they have fun events such as the bar exam trivia on Tuesdays. It's always a good vibe and the crowd is always a lot of fun. For parking, it is all going to be street parking or you can park at the chinatown municipal parking for $1 an hour. Not the best, but its Chinatown. Take your pick. read more

I have come to realize that planning any kind of get-together as adults is probably more difficult to plan than when we were kids. I am not sure if it was because mom and dad were better planners than we were or if we are just too socially awkward to give a straightforward 'yes,' 'no.' or 'maybe so.' So after countless texts, rescheduling, and overall confusion, my friends and I finally managed to secure a date for Trivia Night at The Manifest. Since I was a bit early for Trivia Night, I waited outside for a bit for my friends to arrive. It just so happened that one of the guys who works at The Nighthawk happened to be having a smoke break outside, so we got to talking for a little bit too. Once my friends arrived, we all headed into The Manifest. I think prior to the pandemic, I only visited a handful of times whenever there were pub crawls since The Manifest was one of the bars that would participate in those events. I also vaguely remember The Manifest having more of a club vibe, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice the interior was. The inside of The Manifest reminds me of a modern industrial type of New York City apartment with the exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and wood and metal tables and chairs. The lights are bright enough to provide customers ample navigation of the bar but dim enough to allow for a cozy setting. As you make your way towards the end of the bar, you come across a little atrium with exposed ceilings and lots of (real) plants as well as the bathrooms to the left and pool tables for those interested (not sure if this section is also considered The Manifest). For those visiting on Thursday nights for Trivia, you will also see a little booth in the back where Remy is prepping for the night's event. Our group settled on some of the portable tables in the back near the booth but since we did not have enough space, we grabbed one of the other tables across from us. An important note for anyone coming here for Trivia, DO NOT TOUCH THE FIRST SILVER TABLE ON THE RIGHT as this is specifically reserved for these two cute little old ladies who are regulars. We accidentally made that mistake and felt horrible when Remy had explained to us our faux pas, so I am helping you all out so you do not feel like terrible human beings like we did lol. Once we fixed our mistake, we then decided it was time for some much needed food and refreshment. My friend Mary K. recommended their paninis, bacon wrapped dates, and their meatball sandwiches. I decided to get a Prosciutto Ham and Gouda Cheese Panini and since I was not interested in any of their drink selections on the menu, asked the nice man at the bar what his recommendation would be for an alcoholic drink that would still allow me to drive home without being pulled over. I wish I could remember what the drink he made entailed but I know it had orange bitters and it was seriously one of the best drinks I've had in my life. The panini too was perfectly grilled with the meat and cheese being of good quality. The only minor complaint was that it was a bit salty and I wished there were fries instead of Furikake Agave Chips but that's just a personal preference. I would still recommend people to try it and I would not mind visiting again to try more of the menu. Trivia Night with Remy was also a blast. I am usually a pretty awkward person in public but I actually had no problems interacting with the other participants. But I am not surprised considering The Manifest and Remy were wonderful hosts to all the participants who came out that night. Overall, I would highly recommend The Manifest if you happen to be in the Chinatown/Downtown area. The Manifest offers a comfortable pau hana spot with friends and coworkers and is also very affordable! When I got my bill, I had to triple check to make sure the bartender entered in all of my items. Plus, similarly to some of the other bars in the area (like The Nighthawk--I'm sorry, I just love them so much T_T), it is just a really comfortable hangout spot. Even if you are not much of a drinker, they also have coffee and non-alcoholic options, which I have heard are just as amazing. read more

Me and my friend love going to Trivia Nights at Manifest! My fondest memories are of the amazingly cool people I met there. Shane DJs the best trivia nights in town! Always entertaining and competitive. It's where I learned about Florida Man... The drinks are just as AMAZING as the staff! The bartenders teach you so much about the types of Bourbons and whiskey that will bring out the best flavor in your drinks. I think I went from a "drinking until I'm drunk" beer guzzler into a "kinda feeling classy" whiskey sipper. They often have amazing artwork for sale on their walls. One day I'll go back and buy a couple. They're beautiful. I highly recommend going to Manifest. Take in the atmosphere, and enjoy the competitive nature of trivia night. I've gone to the Manifest twice. The first time was during their first ever BRB event. The owner or manager (not sure) greeted me at the door and explained everything to me such as how to order and get set up for Bingo. I was sitting at the bar and ordered some food. They have the option to pay with cash and order straight from the bar or order online using their QR code. I will say that to place an order on their app, you need to download the app and register, which if you're not a patient person, might irritate you. I ordered my food (bruschetta I think, which was good except my tongue was sad from all the acidity) from the app, but ordered my drinks from the bar because the bartender said it's easier to just order straight from them. I ordered a drink (don't remember which one) and decided to open a tab, to which my attending bartender made me a drink that I didn't order. When I mentioned it, I guess he thought opening a tab meant I wanted to keep the same drink coming. I honestly am such a dork and don't even know what most things mean or how do certain things correctly so I don't know, maybe it was my fault lol. He nixed it from my bill, but everything was fairly confusing. I had no intention of getting drunk so I did freak out a little because I knew I had to order more so I could close my tab because there is a $20 minimum for card payments. So at this point, I had drank two beverages then I ordered a lemon drop, which was phenomenal and actually all the cocktails I had were delicious. I think those were all the beverages I had that night aside from water and so I did finally close my tab, but please for the love of god or whatever you believe in, just order strictly from the app only or from bartenders only because it'll be a lot less stressful and time confusing especially if you suck at math hahahahaha. Despite the mix up and the bartender being understanding and not charging me for the drink I didn't order, I gave a nice tip because hey, we all have bad days and misunderstandings and I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. Also, I appreciate an establishment having bingo because I am an old lady trapped in a young person's body. ---------------------------------------- Adding my second time using their services in same review because I'm lazy. I ordered a matcha latte online and it stated to pick it up in 20 minutes, which I did. The drink had been sitting in the fridge as one might suspect it would, but when I got it, the ice had already melted to the point of it being non-enjoyable. Despite requesting it to be sweetened, it wasn't very sweet at all. I think I'd like to try the matcha again as an annoying sit-down customer because then it's like ready to go for you and you can annoy them on the spot about sweetener and stuff and it's placed inside of a real cup and that seems nicer and more enjoyable to me. I don't get why people leave junk reviews because they weren't waited on or given water or whatever because I'm pretty it's not that kind of a place. The establishment is pretty clear on the fact you need to order from the app or go to the bar and order. Cut these places and people some slack, like holy shit, we're in a "pandemic" and you're acting like a spoiled fucking brat. Chill Tuesday night vibes, nothing special going on, just meeting a friend for late night coffee around 9pm. Sadly the espresso machine was broken sign posted on front door as entering. Whiskey bar ambiance with antique red brick walls and blood red painted accent wall, lights turned down low. Sat at high top table near the entrance, walk up service at bar was good although forgot to make ginger beer n/a soda which ended up being a glass of water. Whoops, bartender was cordial and remembered the miss when we reordered, easy to forgive when he's the only one serving the entire establishment with a little rush of business. Vegan and beef meat balls were tasty. There's no phone number listed, as they don't want calls only contact email form on website. Incredibly bummed out to be writing this review because I've always loved coming to Manifest, but there obviously seems to be a problem with their staff. My boyfriend and a group of our friends were all at Manifest over the weekend. We've come here COUNTLESS times & have always had a great time. The last few times, the DJ's were whatever (imagine going from song to song every 2.4 seconds & not sticking to a vibe). But that's completely besides the point... My boyfriend was targeted by one of the security guards while we were dancing near the DJ booth. We were in a large group of us all dancing in the same area & the guard had told him specifically to move out of the way - so he did. He moved to the far left of the guard (completely out of his way) & was making his way around the group dancing with some friends. Out of nowhere, the guard grabs him, yanks him to the side & gets in his face. He was so genuinely concerned that he did something wrong that he kept saying to the guard, "Im sorry, what happened?? What'd I do? Is everything okay?" There was absolutely NOTHING to indicate that he was even near the guard or in his way. The guard was getting super aggressive & kept screaming, "Get the f*ck out my face. You want some of this?! Get out my face." - while he proceeded to get more and more into my boyfriends face. I've been here in the past ( & mind you, I'm a 6ft woman) & have been man handled by this very security guard without any warning. At that point, we turned and walked out but after reading that some other people have had the same exact issues here, I had to say something on here. MAY I ADD IM BUMMED. I loved Manifest but I don't want to worry about whether or not the security guards are going to intentionally torment and target it's patrons. It's just utter bullsh*t. I really hope they get their act together cause it's a decent spot with great bartenders & fun atmosphere. I say this with the utmost sincerity, I hope that security guard is able to deal with whatever he's got going on. Taking it out on people you're supposed to protect, isn't the way to go. Manifest is a cool bar in Chinatown. We came on Saturday night on the recommendation of some local friends and were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is the atmosphere cool, but there was live music, and the live music blew us away! We watched the band set up and were basically counting down to leave as soon as they finished (they looked like all the emo bands we had seen back in high school), however, they performed anything but! The lead singer was massively talented and just shocked us all; we ended up staying for their entire set. Only now am I seeing that Manifest is also a coffee shop with beautiful toast and drinks. I love the ambience here but the drinks even more. Monday nights are the best because it tends to be more quiet. Though last night it seem to really be popping. There was a live DJ which I appreciated. I ended up with two blinkers. They actually add fresh fruit peel here for most of their mixed drink. The bartender really pays close attention to details here. I noticed she skimmed off a fresh slice of orange peel and ran it across the rim of the cup. The blinker here is my favorite drink in town because it always has a nice mellow taste of citrus/grapefruit. The drink is sweet but not so sweet it gives you a hangover the next day. The dance floor is very small and the bar is always isually busy. DO NOT GET A VEGAS BOMB. Review about Remi Mead's "Summer Lovin'" Art Gallery Exhibit: When I was younger, I used to copy lines of poetry from books at my grandparents' collection, there was something heartfelt about an author's ability to articulate feelings into words. Sometimes, it's difficult for me, to translate how I'm feeling in a way that someone else might understand; one of the reasons, I feel a strong connection to creative individuals is because they utilize various mediums to convey their message (sometimes, without saying a word). Whenever I'm fascinated with someone's work, I like to research about them & discover how their passions came about. After some investigating, I found out English was Remi Mead's second language & I thought it was lovely, how she used her art to communicate with others. Another reason I'm drawn to Remi's artwork is because we share the same appreciation for adorable & fluffy bunnies (if you're not familiar with Remi's work, she likes to incorporate these cuties in her art). Remi's "Summer Lovin'" art gallery exhibit was absolutely stunning; I loved the way the bright colors from her artwork was intensified by Mainfest's red brick walls. Thank you Remi for reminding me that when you're authentic & produce work you believe in, the right people will gravitate towards you. Coming from Vegas, I could really care less about partying but, I couldn't pass up The Get Right party on Wednesdays. In fact, I made sure to fly in just for this party AND it was the only partying on my agenda during my trip! This is one of my favorite places in town. Friendly bartenders. I rarely go after dark because I don't like to stand in lines. It can get busy, so I prefer to be on my way by 6 PM. There are other good places nearby, so I like this central location. You can park in the Chinatown garage, usually easiest, but I almost always get lucky with street parking.
