They not only have courteous and well-mannered security guards outside to greet you, but they also have this lovely welcoming vibe to it that could make any age group feel welcomed. During the day time, they offer food. In the daytime, it's more of a simple place to grab a drink and eat while working on the computer. I can certainly see how this place can change its vibe from day to night. Alas, by the time I arrived, they weren't serving food so I didn't get a chance to try any of it. I encourage you to come in the day and try out their menu. I must admit, they offer some yummy bites to eat! When I first walked in, I fell in love with the simple decor, whiteboards on the walls with a variety of different beer and cocktail specials and the big board in the front of the bar that advertises all the different varieties of whiskey that they offer. Let me not forget to mention the best part of the bar! The live jazz music! YESS! I am a sucka' for some good live jazz music and this place exceeded my expectations. It's really hard to find a bar with a good whiskey selection in Hawaii. I do understand whiskey is a typical winter drink and I do understand it is always summer here, but I cannot do without my whiskey (bourbon, that is)! This is one reason Manifest is great. They have like 60 whiskies and that is a good thing! The space is really great and I like their furniture (reclaimed and recycled). I have not dined here yet, but it's definitely on my to do list because the menu looked good. The only complaint I have is the waitress that helped us didn't know a lot about whiskey. I brought some friends here yesterday who were visiting from out of town. Have wanted to check it out for a while because it seems like such a nice, tranquil spot to hang out during the day. We arrived about 8:30 and so were able to catch the end of happy hour. Overall, it was quiet and calm, which is totally my jam, up until about 10:00. At that point, the DJ started playing dance music and the younger crowds started streaming in. I'm old, so I didn't enjoy the venue at all when the DJ started playing. I was sitting near the door and I was nearly screaming at the top of my lungs to talk to my friends. We prob should have gone to Tchin Tchin earlier, but my bad. Otherwise, my friends seemed to enjoy their drinks - one had a pineapple-y one and another rum one, and seemed to really dig it. The other one said his first one was really strong and said his old-fashioned was really well done so that is a plus. Also, our waitress was very attentive and refilled our waters the whole time we were there. If you are looking for a great place to hang out, this is the spot to be. I love coming here in the early afternoons, having a coffee, some small bites, enjoying the atmosphere. The skylight makes the place feel spacious and airy, and the bar is very welcoming. They make damn fine cocktails, too. I haven't been here late at night for dinner or the trivia or club nights, so I can't speak to that, but for a casual place to sit or be with friends, I can't say enough geat things as I always have a great time here. read more

Manifest is a fun spot to go out at night. I went on a Saturday night and there was a live DJ spinning tunes. The music was a lot of fun- mostly hip hop. There was an area to dance but there were also areas to chill and hang out. Drinks aren't too expensive. We bought a round of beers and a round of shots and they were a good price. The place feels slightly grungy and I believe the vibe is much different if you're coming for a meal. At night, they clear out the table areas for large open space to enjoy. We came in one night when no one else was in the bar. No hello from the bartender, instead, her head was burried into what looked like her school/art books. We said "hi" to her before we got any acknowledgment from her. Ordered some Irish Coffees and it did not taste anywhere near as it should of. Wasn't even good. Was never checked on, and felt ignored so we asked for the check and left. Must've caught them on an off night seeing how we were the only ones inside but that should've meant that she could pay better attention to her patrons. Will try this place again with some reserves next time. Overall, it's a nice bar inside but the service was lackadaisical at best that night. read more

I wanted to go to a bar that played hip hop & my cousins recommended this gem. This bar is one of a few that takeover the nightlife scene in Waikiki. No cover. Quick entry at 10p. It was slow but around 11p, it was packed. Bummed that the DJ did not play any of the songs we requested. But he played a lot of recent hip hop jams & old school jams! 5/16/2017: My friends and I stopped at the Manifest in the morning at around 11am for a light snack and coffee. Their coffee selection goes beyond their menu. It was our first time here, so we had some questions and the 2 female servers helped us out with pleasure! Wish I caught their names to shout them out in this review because they were too nice. Coffee: Discovered they had white chocolate syrup, so I ended up getting an iced white chocolate latte for a flat $4. Food: Ordered the cinnamon toast for $3 and it left me full! My friend ordered the honey toast for $3 and it was soOo yummy, too . It wasn't too busy so we were able to find seats with ease. Overall visit was great!! Will come here again. read more

Upon first walking in, you can already tell Manifest has a super cool and relaxed ambience. I especially enjoy coming in here in the mornings with my husband on the weekends. It is never too busy, but as of late there has been more of a crowd. Maybe the day menu is bringing in more people? Good for business! Recently, we have found ourselves here three weekends in a row! Let me tell you why: the toast!! Now only served before 11am, sadly - they just made that change. Our favorites is the Avocado toast($5) and the Almond Butter Banana Sugar toast ($5). My favorite drink, hands down, is the Dirty Chai that comes with a double shot of expresso. The toast is perfect! I'd have to say it's the best on the island. It's made with the fluffiest, freshest bread, which I heard was bought daily in Chinatown around the corner. One order is not too heavy, more on the lighter side. I eat about 1 & 1/2 and I'm satisfied, but I could honestly eat 3 orders and still want more! Parking can be a headache, because that's just Chinatown for ya! It's a hit or miss. But it usually takes several circles around the area to finally land a spot. Due to covid restrictions still the bar codes at 11:45pm, yes on a Saturday night!!! It's a $5 cover charge because they have a dj. There's two separate areas/rooms each with its own bar and bartender. The prices weren't bad and the staff was extremity friendly. The place is in Chinatown, don't be afraid of the area, it's not dangerous like everyone said, just homeless people bit they leave you alone. read more

Love coming to Manifest! Manifest is a nice go-to for drinks when we're in the Chinatown/downtown area and need a place to just chill for awhile. Most of my visits have been in the evening. I love taking advantage of their Happy Hour - 6 pm to 9 pm (and all day on Sundays, I believe). Bartenders are always quite friendly and the drinks are consistently enjoyable. Manifest is also connected to the bar next door, Royal Arcade Bar, so that's pretty cool. Makes barhopping that might more convenient. I suppose the only con is that they do not serve food. Be sure to make plans to eat either before or after. Manifest is a great place to stop by at and hang no matter what your plans are. Their coffee is great too! read more

Great new place I have never been to that my friends from UH told me about. Parking is usually street parking but be careful of the times where it isn't available til after 6:30 pm. I went around 3 pm on a state holiday so street parking was found two blocks away. There's a private parking lot that charges money a block away but it could be close to $5. The place has some ample tables with seats and they have coffee (iced or hot), tea, spirits and appetizers. I ordered the matcha latte, hapa mocha latte, and honey toast. The toast is only 'til 4 pm while some items like hot dogs, sub, deviled eggs are from 11 am to 10 pm or so. Today, on Martin Luther King they had no hot dogs (they have three different flavors). The matcha latte (hot) was good and to some it might have to much powder, but if you love matcha, you should get this. The best drink was the hapa mocha latte (hot), which smells amazing when you get it and taste the chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The honey toast was okay. It was wheat bread with butter and honey on top. I would go back to try the many different spirits they have. read more

"Hey man, are you gonna block my beer all night?" Every Tuesdays at 6:30pm, patrons gather to try their hand at answering trivia questions and win a round of free drinks from the bar. If you go early, you may be able to snag a table. The place is small and the tables limited, so unfortunately for us, we were left to find an unoccupied space at the bar. This marked the beginning of a long night........ Now, to give you some background of the group of people I was going with, we generally don't drink much and consequently, we don't know bar etiquette well. We were genuinely just there to play trivia. But Trivia Night is a night full of lessons. Here are just a few of the things we learned: Rule #1: Trivia Night not just about Trivia Night Manifest is a whiskey bar, so naturally the idea is to encourage trivia-goers to purchase a drink or two while playing. Ordering food is not enough. The bartender will not be pleased if only food is ordered and you can expect to be met with a look of disapproval. Rule #2: Don't Rest on the Bar My friend who got tired from standing all night started leaning on the bar. He's a big guy, so with arms outstretched, he took up a bit of space. As more people came in and tried to order drinks, they had to force their way through our group to get to the bar and order. Looking back, I realize how inconsiderate this was. Just because we weren't drinking doesn't mean we should prevent other people from doing so. Thus rule #2. Rule #3: Don't Block the Man's Beer There's a special relationship between a man and his beer. This bond runs deep, so when you physically plant yourself in the space between said man and beer, an unspoken code has been broken. Bar Patron: "Hey man, are you gonna block my beer all night?" Friend: "Seriously?" Bar Patrion: "Yeah, SERIOUSLY. You're blocking the entire bar like an *** and I haven't been able to get to my beer all night!" This argument escalated and let to a verbal spat that I probably can't type out on Yelp, but fortunately, both sides calmed down. We moved from the bar, finished up trivia and left. Sounds like a bad night. So why the four stars? The events that unfolded had little to do with the establishment and more to do with our ignorance. The place has a specific look it's going for and a specific patron it caters to and we were not that patron. The decor was modern, the drinks hipster and the employees fit the look. I'm sure if the situation had been different: that we had a table or chair to sit down in & that we were there to drink, the experience would have been completely different. In conclusion, we may not be back for another trivia night unless we bring more drinking buddies, but that shouldn't discourage other people from going. The food is affordable for bar food, but not the greatest. (Side Note: They have Manifest hotdogs sold only on Tuesdays.) The whiskey seems to average about $10, but they also offer beer, coffee and tea. Also, not all of the patrons were temperamental. One guy helped us out with a bonus point question and we came in 5th place! read more

First and foremost I would love to thank Michael S. for mentioning in his review about bringing a jacket "IF" you sit in the back....because THAT is exactly where I sat last night. I usually get cold easily so I'm really, really glad he mentioned that in his review. Thank you also to my yelp friend Grant S. for his very detailed review about parking and Trivia night. Ok with that said, on to the review: My brother and I met up with my cousin and her friends for stump Trivia night, which I found out later is held every Tuesday and begins at 630pm. Also, I don't frequent downtown often, so I searched yelp for tips and ended up parking in Mark's Garage for the meager fee of $5. Well, I know some would opt for the free street parking but I didn't mind paying for the convenience of not circling around looking for a space. One thing that I thought was really great is that you're allowed to bring in outside food. Most places don't allow this at all, not even a beverage, so it was nice and welcoming to find out this helpful tidbit of information. There are drink specials for trivia night and that consists wholly of 2 types of beers and a type of grapefruit cocktail which I ordered and wouldn't order again. I'll stick to beer on my next visit special or not. Trivia begins at 630 with a maximum of 6 per team, and you must provide a team name for the evening. Manifest provides customized pads for teams to write down their answer, as well as a score sheets listing in order the various rounds and bonus rounds. Also there is actually a "picture" bonus round where they provide a paper/picture and you have provide answers accordingly with the pictures provided (during this trivia night it was identify the celebrity). As far as the game was concerned I thought it was very organized and well thought out. The hostess spoke very clear, and although there were some requests to repeat questions throughout the evening, I thought she did an outstanding job! She also provided a score updates for teams throughout the evening. Long story short, our team of 6 placed 3rd, which I say isn't too shabby out of 19 teams playing. The game ended at nearly 9pm so be prepared to stay that long if you want to be present for the entire game. For the most part, the game was played out in good sportsmanship amongst the teams, and well everyone's there to have a good time so I'm glad everyone did! The prize for first place is a round of drinks provided by the bar, a picture with the trophy, and your names are added to the V.I.P. list for first Fridays so you're not stuck waiting in line to come in. A pretty decent "prize" if I say so myself. TIP: Remember: If you sit in the back make sure to bring a jacket or a sweater or something, otherwise you will FREEZE! Bottom Line: Where's the best place to be at for trivia on Tuesday nights? A: Play with the best at Manifest! read more

If you like Whiskey, this is your place, most definitely...yup. We visited during the weekday around 1 PM so there was no dancing or music going on, but by the looks of the giant sparkly disco ball over the "dance floor", I could tell this place probably got crazy in the PM hours. DRINKS = - tons and tons of whiskey, hand-written in chalk on a massive board (whoever did this has a very steady hand and beautiful handwriting) - a few mixed drinks and the standard bottled beers - large price range due to quality of the booze. We paid $7 per drink. SERVICE = - friendly, attentive. AMBIANCE = - warehouse-turned-bar in the middle of Chinatown, very hip and trendy. Reminds me of a place you'd find in San Francisco. PARKING = - nope. Find on the street or use the nasty Municipal Chinatown parking. Went to the 1st Tasting Session at Manifest which featured North American Whiskeys sponsored by Beam. Being a single malt scotch chick, how could I resist getting to know their cousin? It was a free event with a plethora of bourbons & whiskeys to taste. Yes, FREE BOOZE! In addition to the tastes, we were treated to 2 cocktails - Old Fashioned (love them) & Sidecar - prepared by Justin the super cool mixologist who recently won the HCW 2013: Bacardi Pro/Am Cocktail Competition. It was a fun & educational (yes, I learned something) evening. Mark your calendars - the Tasting Session will be monthly on the last Thursday. Best Bar in Hawai This is my favorite bar in Hawaii. Justin Park is the guy you wanna see. He recently won America's Best Bartender and will rep the USA in South Africa. This dude is amazing. Came in during happy hour 5-7 and ordered bartenders choice. This dude totally delivered. First drink was Yamazaki 12yr base and the second was the Leather Soul Knob Creek single barrel reserve old fashion. He really did go too much in explaining what else he mixed in it but I am sure every magician has their secrets. Both drinks were solid, balanced and above delicious. Price I think 7-10 for a decent cocktail is the going rate in Hawaii. But for Manifest its on a level of its own. So I think it's a steal. I was also trying to envision in my head where this place was, until last night, on Hotel St, walking by a a drunk dude and posse outside a bar screaming "Eh, Fight Me! I"m ___ (the type of race he was)!" to his pals, FINALLY - Manifest! Ya gotta love walking through downtown Honolulu after hours. "Oh, this place!!!" Were my words as I was here for the Halloween '09 block party. I remember despite that place being ultra-packed that night, how fast the service was. The bartender, dressed as the Ledger Joker, slammed a bunch of bottles on the table to show me what was availabe when asking, "What goes into your well drinks?". "Why so serious?", I remember thinking at the time. Last night, he was chill. It was after all, a slow Thursday night. What really stands out about this place is the red brick in the room. Manifest has a very good ambiance, with a great use of furnishing and space. The house coffee? Not so good. I' guess I'll stick to buying pints on my next visit. At my workplace we always make sure to stop by Manifest at least once a week for lunch! They have great options for sandwiches here, and amazing homemade chips to go along with it! They do also have toast options (honey toast, avocado toast etc) and you can't forget the awesome coffee bar! As of lately, they have been having a special Monday-Friday $1 Meatball sliders which are great! I highly suggest the BAT or Meatball smash. My coworkers are always craving the Tuna melt! The employees are always super quick and nice even when they are busy. It has a nice calm ambience, people seem to be working while here so it's a nice calm place to relax if you have work to do. The Manifest is my new favorite place at the moment. My boyfriend and stumbled upon this place after having lunch at a nearby restaurant and after peeking through the doors, I was intrigued by the decor and had to go in! I'm a sucker for exposed bricks and little twinkly lights that go across a room (both indoor and out but in this case, indoor) and The Manifest has both! I've only gone early in the day so it's never crowded when we're there and we always had a seat. I'm a little afraid to go at night because I hear it gets packed at night (which I assume is a good thing) but I'm intrigued because the bartender here says it's fun (who by the way was really sweet.... definitely a plus when a place has excellent customer service). As for the drinks, I've tried the hapa mocha, dirty chai latte, and haupia latte (all iced) and they're all really good but the hapa mocha is my favorite followed by the haupia latte and then the dirty chai latte.
