We ordered oysters, shrimp cocktail, octopus, steak frites, a filet and the sauteed mushrooms side. All were well-prepared. The service is spot on. My only complaint is that I received several messages about the establishments expectations for dress. The messages were very specific, no men in shorts or flip flops. Father's Day Brunch - We Love Maple & Ash, But This Missed the Mark We love Maple & Ash and go as often as we can, so we were really looking forward to Father's Day brunch. As always, the food was phenomenal--everything we tried was delicious, with one small exception. The "steak and eggs Benedict" was supposed to feature filet medallions, but what we received looked and tasted more like thinly sliced beef. Still good, just not what was advertised. The main issue was the pacing. We had an 11:15 AM reservation and didn't leave until around 1:45 PM. We ordered our entrees within 10 minutes of being seated, but the time between dishes was excessive. For example, four small beignets were brought out for the table to split, and then we sat for over 20 minutes before the next item arrived. Drinks took over 30 minutes to hit the table. It felt like the kitchen or service flow was seriously behind. Our server was kind and professional, but clearly overwhelmed. We spent most of the meal just... waiting. And while we usually don't mind a slower pace, this was Father's Day--we had our two very well-behaved kids (ages 3 and 5) with us, and after two hours at the table, even they were starting to lose patience. We weren't the only ones either--other families with small children were pacing the dining area, clearly having the same problem. We drove in from the West Valley, and between the commute and the extended meal, the entire outing took nearly five hours. By the time we got home, the day was basically over--and that stung. We'll absolutely be back, because we genuinely love Maple & Ash, but this brunch was a big disappointment. Well to answer my own silly question, because there are more than one great steak house, and Maple and Ash is one of them! For one, the vibe is cool, yet classy, and it's beautiful! Secondly, the service is exquisite, they welcome you with a complementary drink and offering from the chef, this visit was a prickly pear cactus martini, and house made chips with a cheese and caviar dip, OUTSTANDING, honestly who doesn't like something "free," when you're greeted! The menu has traditional steak house offerings, yet some of the items on the menu for very affordable, I can appreciate that, yet you can also go all out, and be spoiled with a menu service called; I Don't Give A Fork, it's not really fork.. but I think you get it... Let the chef chose a 5 course meal, while you just sit back and get spoiled!! Love this concept! This was the first time I went to Maple & Ash, and I was excited to go try it. They have a complimentary valet, which was very nice they have that .We made reservations, and when we got there, they were ready to sit us, which is always a plus in my book. We were a party of four and we had a table that seats for I must say their tables are a little bit tight but I guess since they're so busy maybe that's why they're use smaller than normal tables, that's the first day I saw and I got to the table and I worried how are all our dishes going to fit. It worked out because they are quick to clear the table and get things out of your way once you're done, so there was actually always room on the table for that reason. We ordered of you appetizers, and they were very good. I would go back just for those meatballs in order 2 orders. Appetizers came out really fast and also did not take long to get our drinks. But then you will be waiting for some time for your actual dinner to get to your table. I was able to go outside for at least 20 minutes then go to the restroom and go out for another 10 minutes and this is on top of the time that I was actually sitting at the table waiting. We got our plates, and all of them were good and had great presentations. So the only complaint I would have is that the mac and cheese was not edible it was too salty, and sadly , it was also the wagyu plate. I think the person who made those dishes was not realizing how much salt they were putting. I mentioned it to our server, and without any issues, they took care of it. The simple fact our server apologized and took action right away makes me feel that they have great service and they really care about your experience. Overall, it was a great dinner. Overrated is an understatement. We dine at steakhouses often, all over the country and I would not even consider mentioning this place to someone. This place isn't even a top five in Arizona. I'm not kidding when I say my Dallas filet at Texas Roadhouse is better than the filet I had here. The service was good enough, so I will start there. Our server and and all other members of the team were nice and helpful, but we were a table of ten and it felt like we were a bit rushed. Also they sat us in a room that seemed like it was once a patio, so the ambience was not pretty and charming like the rest of the restaurant. When loud cars went by it was all you heard as well. Once our table ordered apps the server rang them in and immediately came back to our table to get our dinner order, it was super weird. The complimentary cocktail and chips with French onion dip and caviar were delicious. The bone marrow, octopus, and tuna appetizer were all just fine, but not what I would expect at this price point. When my filet came out, it was lukewarm and not even on an extremely hot plate like most steakhouses that serve $70 filet mignons. The sides were all tasty at least! The sommelier came over when we wanted to order wine. The ladies I was with ordered a white bottle, but I wanted to get a glass of red to have with my meal. I forgot what the name of the wine was, but he recommended a delicious glass and was very knowledgeable. The gin martini I started with was good as well, but for the price I think having the extra in the shaker like other steakhouses just makes more sense. All in all, I was very underwhelmed by my experience here, and I am shocked this place is such a hot spot. I went in for HH solely because I was on my way to the Suns Game. I went at 5, they literally just opened the door. From walking in the service was great. I sat at the bar of course hence it was HH. The ambiance was amazing. I was going to order the Tower Hour however I had a few places in the area I wanted to try. Caleb the waiters/bartender greeted me. We had small conversation. I ordered the "housewife behavior" drink it was really good and appealing to the eye. I had a dozen of oysters and caviar and chips, which was actually good. Caleb customized my menu for me because I am from Baltimore and was touring Arizona for the Ravens/Cardinals game. He was so attentive and answered all questions I had. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and we went for Easter brunch. Our reservation was at 12:30 and finally got our meal at 3. We aren't drinkers and I got one martini - so it wasn't the drinks holding us back. My martini was the only drink we had ordered besides my daughter's iced tea. It took about 45 minutes to get any drink besides our water and even that wasn't refilled but twice during our meal time. If you are hungry go early and expect to eat much much later than you would expect. It was very loud but nice modern decor. Our waitress wasn't phenomenal for the area and cost of tip - while nice did she not go overboard until I literally said at this point I am starving because we waited for our meal so long. She said the issue was the kitchen and seafood tower which may have fed one person - barely. The food itself was great and I loved it, however the cinnamon roll needs improvement - dry. If the issue truly was the kitchen then this needs improvement. I don't think it is because I saw her take better care of everyone but us and even sit at the table with the couple next to us. They do add insurance for the servers to the bill around 3% which you can ask to have removed if you want. It was absolutely freezing!!!! Told the wait staff, numerous times, then finally the manager that it was cold. It was obvious to not only us but that others were cold. It's boujee! It's classy! It's a one in a life experience! Brunch at Maple and Ash will exceed your expectations! My sister chose to have her birthday celebration here and it was such a fun experience. Our waiter, Sean, was so thoughtful, witty, funny, and made our meal personal and one of a kind. Once we were seated at our table Sean and Michael who assisted brought us a welcome cocktail. It was a whiskey lemon tea, the whiskey was pretty dominant but the after taste has a mild lemon flavor. Next they brought mini beignets with a sweet whipped butter. These were SO GOOD that I had to stop myself from spoiling my appetite. The drink menu had a good variety and Sean was so patient and gave us great suggestions for our preferences, (see pictures). The Detoxicated was our favorite, it was green tea infused Wheatley with matcha, lime, and golden falernum. Now for the food! I personally got the lobster and prawn hash which had roasted vegetables, truffle hollandaise and I asked for my eggs to be scrambled. My boyfriend got the truffle omelette that was stuffed with ricotta, black truffle, and trumpet mushrooms. The truffle was a bit overwhelming but still good. Then the rest of our table got the Alaskan king crab Benedict. The eggs were perfectly pouched and the hollandaise sauce made the dish. Then for shareable side dishes we could order as much or as little of each. The filet mignon was so tender and they definitely used sous vide to cook it. Then the second best thing was the THICC maple bacon. It may have been thick but it was a bit crunchy yet not horrible. And the maple glazed gave it the perfect contrast to the saltiness of the bacon. The scones were a citrus flavor and had white chocolate drizzled on top. And of course you can't really mess up roasted potatoes. Then for dessert we chose the lightest dessert (we low key over did it on the flirt mignon and bacon) the lemon blueberry mousse. It had lemon mousse dipped in blueberry curd and had honey lavender ice cream. This was so light and refreshing that it was the absolute perfect finish to our meal. A lot of great steakhouses in the valley, but love the vibe and uniqueness of Maple & Ash. Started with an order of cocktails, after 15 minutes we received them, or just I did. Waitress quickly noticed apologized and handled. Ordered food and it took ridiculously long, although we saw all the tables around us get served. My wife and I both not wanting to complain but not that type, knew it wasn't the waitresses fault, both of us said "well this is off our list and no more Maple and Ash." To each other. Shortly after that, unprompted, a manager came over and said, "We didn't do you well tonight and not our best, we would like to first apologize, and comp this meal." 100% unexpected, but also tells me this is a restaurant that expects to be the best, consistently. We went for a friend's 40th and had a truly memorable meal. We started with the Hamachi Crudo and Grilled octopus, after the customary house cocktail, served on the house, as soon as you are seated. Both were really good. They also bring bread, soppressata and some other antipasto items. If you have to choose one, the Hamachi is the way to go. For meals, our group ordered a variety of steaks (New York, Filet and Cowboy), the table ordered the "beefed up butter" which everyone loved as an accompaniment to their steaks which were flavorful and cooked to temp. I ordered the grilled seafood tower, typically an app, as my meal, and it's easily the best seafood tower I've ever had, and I'm a seafood LOVER! I'd order it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME...if everything else wasn't so good! The birthday girl got the truffle pasta which was phenomenal. As sides we ordered the au gratin potatoes and Brussels. The Brussels are a must. For service, we had to wait way longer than we should have with a reservation. This place was hopping, even on a Wednesday. There's no way to get in here without a res. We then had a small hiccup with a disappearing Somm, but they more than made up for it with a second Somm who matched our waiters well-timed and hilarious personality. After my 5th visit here, I finally have time to review my favorite steakhouse in AZ! What keeps me coming back? The scrumptious food and impeccable service of course (working for that extra staff fee...). If there's absolutely one thing I can point to that keeps me coming back, it's the Tower Hour. As a staunch lover of shellfish, the way the fire roasted tower is prepared in delicious butter and spicy chili oil is unrivaled. From the king crab, oysters, and shrimp, every mouth-watering bite is an experience on its own. When I'm not absolutely demolishing the seafood tower, I'll probably be feasting on my juicy, smokey, perfectly charred Chicago cut ribeye. Of all the ribeyes I've had in AZ (Steak 44, Dominick's, Chris Ruth's, etc.), I can easily say this is my favorite one. My poison of choice is the Maple and Ash Old Fashioned which is always concocted with the most precise ratio of liquor, bitters, and sugar; a very delectable liquid treat! But don't forget they always give you a "welcome drink", which is always good on its own. The vibe can honestly be a tad loud. However, this is consistent with the majority of the steakhouses in this area. You can walk in for a seat at the bar, which you may wait for, otherwise would highly highly recommend a reservation and much in advance. You do need to put a card down. When seated you get a welcome drink and snacks (bread, charcuterie) before looking over the most delightful menu. So many good options to choose from depending on what mood you're in and what you're willing to spend. Their filets are always perfectly cooked and you have endless sides to choose from ranging from veggies, potatoes and pasta. If you don't feel like steak their pasta entrees are freaking awesome. The pillows of love ricotta agnolotti pasta is unlike anything I have ever eaten before. THESE ARE WORTH IT. They are so light and airy and the truffle makes it so delicious. I literally DREAMT about these the other day and haven't been able to stop thinking about them. The Short Rib Bolognese was pretty delicious too, but compared to the Pillows or Love - there wasn't competition. I also ordered a side of French Fried and I always have to dip my Fries in ranch and their ranch did not disappoint. The whipped & buttered potatoes were so soft and super blended - like as if they took it to a vita mix kind of whipped. They do bring out complimentary bread and also brought up a round of Prickly Pear cocktails for free. Where to begin. Let's start at the reservation process. They charge $20 per person to make a dinner reservation. A few places in town do the same. I would expect by doing this, you would be seated at your reservation time or within a reasonable amount of time. We arrived early, maybe 10 minutes, they offer valet car service (complimentary for customers), and we used this, it was good and we walked into establishment. Passing many folks meandering out front. A cluster of people were all around the hostess/check was disorganized from the moment we entered. Lot's of employees at the hostess stand (too many, no need for this many)...def no labor shortage here!! None of them seemed to know what the heck was going on??? Either check in on your phone or have 2 different stands, one for reservations and walk-ins. We checked in and we were told, "Your early, have a seat." After waiting 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes, nobody came to us or mentioned they were running behind...a good recommendation would be to have one of the many hostesses apologizes from the "get go" and suggest we go to the bar and have a drink while we wait. The bar was jam packed, but if they had an overflow area just for peeps with reservations. or maybe someone to take our drink order while we wait..that would be awesome! I did inquire after 30 minutes and was told " we were close to getting a table." My husband really wanted to eat here and he is extremely even-tempered, me on the other hand needed a drink & was trying so hard to practice being imperturbable, but was failing!! After 30 mins my husband made us a reservation at another restaurant nearby, so we had somewhere to eat:(. During the time he was securing us another reservation I started chatting with the couple next to us, also waiting. I ask them what time their reservation was set for? They said 15 minutes before ours and they had only been sitting for 5 minutes, which would make them late, but they were called and seated at about our 32 minute mark. We did stick around, because I had not seen my husband all week and I know he was so looking forward to a "sick" dinner....we finally got seated close to 40 minutes after our reservation time (NO EXAGGERATION). We sat at a table in the corner, at the back of the restaurant. Side note: def not a first date kind of place...extremely loud and really very difficult to hold any kind of conversation......I love being married to my husband, if he is happy, I am happy! Our waiter was awesome and I believe he was tipped off that we had been waiting a fortnight. He did go above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of...and I know my husband took care of him as well, with a nice tip! We had a bottle of Cade (around $250), shared a salad, devoured the ricotta agnolotti (would come again just for this), ordered the short rib bolognese (ok), mashed potatoes (these were excellent & very buttery), asparagus (ok) and rib eye (ok)..wanted dessert, but waiter told us bananas foster takes 10 minutes and I had no more waiting time left inside of me:(. I saw some really tasteless outfits (Vegas on steroids) while waiting for our table and again, when seated for dinner, the gal next to was wearing a spandex sports bra. I have to be honest this is located in the downtown area so parking is kind of a pain point. Knowing that ahead of time helps set expectation . There is Valet parking but with some planning you can either park in some of the 2/3 hour street parking spots or there's a parking lot that is also available, but it gets very crowded especially during the weekend in that area. I would recommend that if you are making reservations that you do arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early to make sure that you have time to get parking situated. We had a reservation and our party was promptly seated on time. The service was excellent. Our staff was very engaged, very attentive and kind. We did attend for brunch. This place is really a fine dining experience: valet, sommeliers, perfume hostess in the bathrooms, and a big bill at the end of the night. I'm my opinion, this place wasn't worth the cost, but I don't think that's an issue for the people going there. We went for a bachelorette party and they treated us like gold. Their seafood tower and steak were solid, but not worth the price tag. The cocktails were absolutely worth it and added to the ambience overall. Amazing experience overall! We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday and my goodness it is all worth it. Garrett took really great care of us from start to finish. We started off with a welcome cocktail (complimentary) and we ordered the foie gras and the waygu carpaccio (topped with that caviar bump-if you're thinking of getting caviar, just get this to satisfy the craving). We got the tomahawk, cooked mid rare. Worth it for this wood fired delicacy. Sides that we got was the Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts (because we needed veggies). We also asked for some shaved truffle because it is a celebration and we wanted to be bougie! The dessert we got was chocolate cake and the flavor profile was on point right down to that semi crunch of the frosting. The food was good. I loved the starting dish. The energy was good and the service was great. I loved the cocktails they greet you with. It really adds to the experience. The truffle fries WERE AMAZING!!! My favorite thing on the menu. The only thing I was not a fan of was the salmon. It was too fishy and not really what I was expecting. Overall a great restaurant with nice modern decor. Prices are pretty steep so be prepared to spend over $120/person for a decent meal, more if you include drinks. They are know for their steaks but my hubby's steak was not great. Granted he asked for medium rare and it came rare! I literally had to spit it out cuz it tasted so bad. But my husband is not type to send food back so he ate the bad steak. I, on the other hand, really enjoyed my grilled Caesar salad that was served with boiled egg. The dressing was super creamy topped with freshly granted cheese. I had the Branzino as entrée and it was cooked to perfection. We tried the coconut cream pie which was creamy, not overly sweet and came with buttery crust. I don't like their chocolate cake because it was dry. read more

I'm so disappointed that they got rid of the old brunch menu. It was $75 for a good amount of good! Now it's just way overpriced for what you get. Giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the food is delicious. However, I doubt I'll be back now. I just can't justify spending those prices for such a small amount of food, especially when there are so many other good brunch restaurants nearby. Please bring back the old brunch menu! FYI-other restaurants in the area offer much more competitive price options for brunch. I decided to give montauk a try and they had a much more affordable yet still delicious menu. read more

Please be VERY CAUTIOUS in reviewing your bill. I had a party of 5 for a business dinner and the tip was included and the surcharge for the employee insurance. I was not told that the tip was included, and then tipped another 20% on top of the total. Luckily I noticed it before I left the restaurant, but the waitress submitted the other receipt. I am now having to dispute the additional tip with my credit card. I have called the restaurant multiple times and no response back. read more
