Absolutely disappointed! Was visiting from a different state, and locals were telling us great things about this place- only to find out that they would refuse service to us because of an "athletic" gear outfit. So sad that a business would turn down potential customers for this to upkeep a certain look. I come to Scottsdale just to eat their Hamachi (as it's like no other and super amazing). I had it 2 nights ago and it was fishy tasting, not fresh and not like usual. I'm so very disappointed but now I don't have to drive to Scottsdale for dinner anymore. The bartender was super nice but the people that check you in are so rude. We initially landed seats at the bar because it was Friday night... so you know the bases were loaded, aka it was BUSY! and I was not Beyonce, nor was my date Jay-z... so we had to wait our turn, lol. The service at the bar was amazing. The blonde lady in a black button-down was my least favorite part of the evening/experience. She had an unwelcoming attitude about herself.. so we waited on the fine gentleman wearing a black vest. I loved his suggestions, and cocktails were made to perfection... I can almost taste the mezcal on my lips now just thinking about it. The lady with the black tube top and tattoos was an entire vibe. Anywho.. we got seated with Serenity, and my date moved my seat to be by him because across the table was too far... I know, I know.. I have had Maple & Ash bookmarked as a favorite as I have been dining to try this spot. Looking at all the great marketing on Instagram and post by previous patrons I thought this would be the best birthday spot to celebrate at. I went a few days ago for dinner around 5:30. The atmosphere and vibe was very modern. The decor and layout of the restaurant is welcoming. The hostess staff immediately greets you at the door which by the way are super friendly. My party sat next to the kitchen area where we saw all staff hard at work. Our server who was interesting not the friendliest as he was serious and we could not tell if he was joking or he real comes across as rude. He served us a starter sample drink to get are palates going. We then gazed through the innovative menu. My menu was special since it had my name on it. Our table all ordered a variety of different options our food took a very long time to come out. This is the only complaint I have heard from friends about this place. Also refills on our drinks took forever we would have ordered more but the service was slow. The presentation of our food when it came out was nice. I just did not like my meal. I ordered the chicken and it did not taste good. Everything else was good. My husband ordered a steak (filet) and it was burnt so bad it tasted like charcoal. We don't send things back but he had too there was no way anyone could eat it. Even the server was in shock and he did apologize. We are not sure why it came out. Everyone else food came out perfect along with all of our sides. I was given a nice treat for my birthday a little chocolate cake. They have a nice dessert menu as well. We were honestly not impressed for a higher end steakhouse. There are several in the area that we frequently visit each week. We will wait a while if we decide to try it agin because we feel there are better quality in the area. I came here last weekend to celebrate my birthday with a friend. I couldn't be more impressed! We ordered the "I don't give a f*@k" and we both agreed it was the best meal we've ever had. When we sat down we were given a complimentary aperitif, table bread, and a caviar dip with chips/wafers. Now for the IDGAF, Course 1: Blacked out oysters (Oyster with caviar and a shot of vodka) Course 2: Fire roasted seafood platter (lobster, shrimp, crab, clams, etc) Course 3: Pasta (the butter/garlic sauce from the seafood platter was the sauce for the pasta and it was amazing) Course 4: Wedge salad with bacon, onion ring, and tuna tartar. Course 5: Ribeye with an au jus like sauce, asparagus, mashed potatoes with gravy, fire-roasted branzino, and truffle/ricotta agnolotti (pillows of love LOL). Punishes vegetarians. Several years in a row we've phoned about reservations on New Year's Eve. Each and every year, we ask about vegetarian options within their prix fixed menu and each and every year... there is none. So, when you want to go out to celebrate, expect for the vegetarian in your party to be required to pay for an approx 5 course meat-based meal while only getting to eat side potatoes (or similar). Simply not worth paying a few hundred for a side of potatoes. Could restaurants like this make an appropriate vegetarian option? Of course they could. But, they don't. Why not? My personal opinion is they couldn't give a flying f*** about families or couples who have a vegetarian in their group... because... they could give that flying f*** and they know these people are out there, but they simply don't. I've been to this restaurant five times in the last year... I've never had such a poor experience. Not only was the food extremely disappointing two dishes being sent back with no desire of wanting them to remake them. The experience took over three hours to get our food to not even eat our main course we were food service was interrupted numerous times by a drag show in which the restaurant allowed people to touch its customers, unprovoked and unwanted, and also embarrassed over the loudspeaker. The couple next to us became extremely embarrassed when the MC mentioned the significant other was not at the table and must be out taking a $hit . The couple got up and left. I immediately asked my server if we were going to have any more outburst over the microphone and Justin the MC walks up to a table and ask them how they would like a blow job and then invited them to the bathroom. I was completely appalled, and while repeating what was said over the loudspeaker in question to my server, another server intervened in our conversation creating a huge scene in which the manager came over and apologize for how long it took for the food and was sorry that the food was awful. We still paid full price for a horrible experience and not good food to be disrespected and accused of something sexual harassing someone when I was a palled by the statements, being said over the loudspeakers. the restaurant said we sent out a disclaimer that this was a pride breakfast I stated we are all here for the inclusiveness, but if someone doesn't have the respect for people who are sitting and eating in the restaurant, doesn't respect its customers and put an event before them I won't be giving them my money ever again. read more

I would give this place a solid 2.5 to 3 stars. The ambience is really cool, a little bit Gothic and trendy the the service was OK everyone looked really nice. Our waiter had a full suit on. We were greeted with a before dinner app and some complementary chips and dip. We shared the ribeye mac & cheese and asparagus. The asparagus was honestly really good, but the mac & cheese was a little bit salty, the steak was honestly just average there was no char, or seasoning. I am glad I did, as not only was the service impeccable, friendly, and personable, but my friend and I felt valued. DISTASTEFUL! My family and I went in to celebrate my parents anniversary this past Saturday, and upon walking in they stated they had a "dress code" and in order to dine in you must wear sleeves. So no spaghetti strap dresses, sleeveless shirts, halter tops etc, also men aren't allowed to wear a vest (this came from the guy at the door). I looked around an almost ever person had on some form of a sleeveless outfit. No where on the website did it state no sleeveless wear. Maple and Ash don't pick and choose the days and people you want to make these rules for. To your response: Spaghetti straps, sleeveless dresses, and sleeveless shirts is NOTHING YOU JUST MENTIONED, so your telling that, that kind of clothing is permitted? However that was not the case on Saturday. The inconsistency this business have is ridiculous! Our waitress Yrri was awful!!! My filet came out COLD . I'm sorry but if I'm paying 78 for steak I except it to be warm at the least. When they remade it my whole table was done eating, thanks Yrri. They have multiple people that are supposed to be filling water and clearing plates however they seemed to forget about our table. My water was never refilled and it took over 30 minutes to get my cocktail. I was only able to order one drink due to the lack competence of this place or at least our waitress. Local known company and the lady who answered the call said, "I have to check with my management to find out if we can take a reservation and all parties 10 or more require a $100 deposit per guest". Simple decision, go to Mastro's City Hall. Jake took less than 2 minutes to take the reservation and only asked for my name and phone number. Not sure why Maple and Ash think their chain can behave this way, but they are off my list in PHX. I guess they don't need the business or have had lots of no shows. We made reservations for the Tower Hour and wow, it did not disappoint! This is one of the few venues in Scottsdale that doesn't blast their music (whew) so you could actually have a nice conversation with your party. The decor is GORGEOUS and luscious.
