Totally subpar experience this time. We've been to the maple & ash in Chicago numerous times to celebrate our anniversary. This was our second time at the Scottsdale location and we were sorely disappointed in the service and atmosphere. Despite making a reservation in advance, we were denigrated to an outdoor table on the patio--I say this specifically because when I went inside to the restroom, half of the indoor tables were empty, so not sure why they were sitting people (like us) outside on a chilly January evening. (Also note, we were dressed very nicely for my birthday, so I do not believe that played a factor). The food was delicious, we couldn't get enough of the steak and bolognese. However, the service was borderline terrible. Inattentive, slow, and overall MIA. Even the table next to us said "okay, but where's our server at?" Maybe our server was overbooked, but she walked by us multiple times, hands empty, without stopping by and asking us if we needed anything. (We did!!!) For me, maple & ash is typically known for their stellar service, so it was such a disappointment that it was so poor, especially since we came to celebrate my birthday. They absolutely do not care that it's your birthday, did not get any special treat or excitement. We spent over$400 on dinner and we expected a better experience for that amount. Food was absolutely spectacular though, kudos to the chef. But no intention of returning to this location. We would've been better off at a moderately priced steakhouse; we would've been better taken care of. read more

This establishment was the perfect setting for my Son's graduation from ASU celebration. Crafty cocktails were awaiting us once seated. Steaks were prepared perfectly and we chose a tasty red wine to complement our dish with some input from the Sommelier on staff. Some had Steaks and some had Surf and Turf along with delicate mash potatoes and sides. Our dishes melted in our mouths with deliciousness. The sauces for the steaks so good but equally good just on its own. As somebody that has been to many fine dining and Michelin star establishments, I will have to say I have found my favorite in maple and ash. They don't just have amazing food and drinks, but the most amazing service and respect for their customers. Every time I have came in I have either dined with Jennah or Julia, two sisters at the Scottsdale location. They have always taken care of me and always treated me with the highest of respect. They definitely make the experience more enjoyable! When it comes to food I love their wagyu selection and their seafood tower! So I booked a private room at this restaurant for a party of 16 people. Very cool spot. Great ambiance and they personalize the menu for your birthday. First of all it was a bit of a tough go, just getting the reservation. We booked the private room well in advance, but about two weeks out, they called and told us, another group had bumped our reservation to the main floor and they tried very hard to sell us on how amazing the main floor would be. We had to get management involved but out private room reservation was saved. The night of went pretty smooth. We had amazing food. a must try would be the seafood tower, the best I have had at a high end restaurant. The wine was good and champagne flowed-also must do the caviar bump! The service left so much so be desired. At a place like this, half of what that high price ticket is paying for, is the service you receive. Our group was lively and instead playing to that vibe, our waiter took every opportunity to get everyone to be quiet and listen to him-teacher style. He was dry and out of touch. We specifically told him we were not interested in the chef-choice special style of dinner as we had many dietary restrictions at the table. He still proceeded to have everyone be quiet so he could tell us all about the chef's choice style dinner. He messed up the group caviar bump so badly and when we asked him to snap some pics of the group, it seemed like it was beneath him. I'm sorry sir, our bill was close to 5k. He made a really great tip off our group and it was not well deserved. He kept telling members of the group to stop going to the big bar to get drinks but obviously they only went because the drinks were coming too slowly to the table. Just really disappointed. The service is half of the experience at a place like this so they should probably do better on who takes care of the big groups-not all servers are cut out for that. read more

We wanted to have a nice takeout meal for Mother's Day and Maple and Ash's brunch meal looked incredible! During our stay at home order, I cooked most the time and I was excited to take a break!! Thanks husby!! We pulled up for curbside pickup at our designated pickup time and they were right there ready with the nicely packaged meals. In general, hot takeout just isn't as good vs eating it freshly cooked in the restaurant. However, the meats, potatoes and frittata was perfect for reheating in the oven. The steak was prepared medium rare so when reheated, it became a nice medium. The jumbo shrimp and smoked salmon platter were delectable! It was my wife's birthday and I wanted to do something memorable for her. We had the most wonderful meal here. It is something we will remember for a long time. Shortly after being seated, she was greeted with a custom take-home menu that said Happy F*@king Birthday. We then started off with a house drink (complimentary) which was a prickly pear cocktail, which was amazing. I then proceeded to order the I Don't Give a F*@k (let us take care of you) option at $200 per person. Indulgence at its finest. We shared some bread and butter waiting for the first course to arrive. The first course entailed a house-made french onion dip with house-made chips that had sprinkles of caviar on top. The second course was caviar-topped oysters with a shot of vodka. Delish!! Next was the fire-roasted seafood tower. All I can say is WOW. The smoke flavor was really nice on the king crab legs. I have never tasted anything like it. Once the seafood was gone, they brought out the pasta to soak up the butter sauce. Next came the Maple and Ash wedge salad. Definitely, one of the Best wedge salads I have had. Also included was the yellowfin tuna tartare to share. #mindblown Once that was done, the main course and sides were brought to the table. Dry aged rib eye served with Maple and Ash beefed up butter sauce. Grilled Branzino, whipped and buttered mashed potatoes, fire-roasted asparagus, and last but not least little "pillows of love" aka Ricotta Agnolotti. There are no words to describe how amazing the pillows of love are. All I can say is, I can imagine that is what food in Heaven would taste like. #pillowsoflove I feel like I enjoyed that more than the ribeye and I love a good ribeye steak. For me, the rib eye was cool, but I have had better elsewhere, no disrespect to Maple and Ash. If I was going to eat here again, steak is not something I would necessarily order specifically. Lastly, we ended dinner with the build your own sundae bar. You get 3 scoops of homemade chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream with various toppings, ranging from raspberries, blackberries, cookie crumbles, chocolate or peanut butter sauce, toffee brittle, white chocolate shavings, or whipped cream to name a few. Absolutely the perfect way to end a meal. We did have leftovers to take home and honestly, they were just as good as we remembered from the night before. We captured a few pics, but we weren't able to capture the whole experience. That is something that will have to live on in our heads. Reading other reviews, a lot of people had mentioned it was loud. Luckily I and my wife did not experience that. Our dinner experience was quieter and more intimate. What a fine dining experience!! From the warm welcome and ambience, to the waitress, to the decor, to the awesome and delicious food. Anniversary dinner with my wife. It was a scream, an explosion in my mouth. You're definitely paying for the experience here. The food is pretty darn good, but the prices are much higher than what I've seen at some other area steakhouses. The pomp and circumstance is what makes this a must see spot, but I don't know that I'd come back again. The servers attention and presentation is very nice. But we were charged for a side sauce that we didn't order because the waiter brought it over to us and said it would be great with the meal. Because we didn't personally order it, I thought it wouldn't be added on to the bill, but alas it was. Incredible restaurant. If people don't back the food they have no idea what good quality food is. I've lived all around Europe and the U.S. and, for steakhouses, this is the BEST. In fact, no better restaurant in Phoenix that's for sure and we have tried soooooo many since moving from Los Angeles. First time I come to M&A it was my birthday a year ago. I've wanted to come back to test if that experience was truly as memorable and when I had my friend from South Florida and a couple of his friends ask where we should go to dine together, I contacted M&A. To be honest, they had nothing except the proverbial "5:30 or 9pm" time slots, which we all know is a kinder way of saying we have nothing. Not knowing who my friend from Florida is, we just said screw it and took an early time slot. By the end of the dinner, the ENTIRE table was stating this was one of the best restaurants they'd EVER been to, and they too are extremely sophisticated and well traveled. The TRUE highlight is the uber expensive crab claws which were (and are) somehow baked and served warm. Might be one of the greatest things I've ever tasted and if they weren't so expensive I'd get them to go again for dinner. Other highlights were my friends top tier Wagyu, the sea bass, and my ribeye. They did remove some of the items from the table before we were done so that was a bummer but I think they wanted us up for the next seating since we were just enjoying the dinner and drinks. Whole bill was easily over $1K but we kindly payed it based on the dinner and service. Sara was our server, super nice and pretty, but also very engaging and knowledgable. Well, my favorite restaurant has now become a business I can't support anymore. Maple and ash ruined my proposal. The proposal my fiancé hired a photographer for, rented a venue, and put months of time into was ruined 3 months before it happened by a Maple & Ash hostess. The moment I've always dreamt of, I knew about 3 months before it happened. I was already at the restaurant and wanted to confirm the upcoming reservation I had to "celebrate my best friends birthday". She had made the reservation via Amex concierge which in my experience can be flakey. I walked up to the hostess to confirm the reservation went through and that they had a menu made for my best friend (she made the reservation and we were supposed to be celebrating her birthday). The hostess blurts out "I have a menu for this reservation but it doesn't say happy birthday Paige, it says "you're getting married". My heart immediately dropped and I walked out crying. Everybody coming to this reservation was married besides me and my now fiancé. Okay so this is a screw up right? We're all human, she shouldn't have said that. But after a month of crying and deciding not to tell anybody what I had heard, I decided to call the restaurant, this was in May. My proposal was at the end of June. I was put in contact with a super sweet manager who gave me all her contact info and was going to call me a week after the proposal to set something up for my fiancé and I to come in. So my proposal comes, we go to the restaurant after to celebrate. All is well. Two weeks go by, I don't hear anything from the manager. So I begin trying to call and text the direct number she gave me. It doesn't work. I'm thinking, am I getting stood up right now? Turns out, this manager doesn't work for Maple anymore. Life gets busy, I forget about to for two months. But I'm a frequent maple and ash goer. So I call to make a reservation in September, explain the situation, I am told that a manager will get in contact with me to resolve this. Again nobody calls me. This happens again in November, and then February. I'm constantly told someone will get a hold of me. I've talked to 2 managers intermittently but they fail to get back to me and resolve anything. I've been to the restaurant 5 times since my proposal and nothing has ever been taken care of. Now it's almost been a year, I was supposed to come in with a massive party this Sunday to celebrate my wedding. I called Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday to request to speak to a manager. I've been told 3 days in a row that someone will call me back. NEVER HAPPENS. Like I'm bringing 10 people in on Sunday and nobody can even return my call. We're now cancelling this reservation. I'm sad to say that my favorite restaurant doesn't care about frequent customers enough to resolve an issue so big. This was a big life moment for me and all I wanted was for them to comp a meal for my fiancé and I. I shouldn't have to beg for a resolution or a response to this problem. There was 0 empathy or compassion that my huge proposal was ruined. I didn't tell my fiancé for months because I felt so bad that this 6 month project he had done was actually never a surprise. Photographer, venue, flew out my best friend, organized a fake photoshoot so I'd be all dressed up. He knows now. It's just all so sad. How can people not care that much? I've brought so many huge parties to this restaurant repetitively but they don't care about my ruined proposal? I won't be going into maple anymore or recommending everyone as I know. Came here for my friends birthday. She made a reservation. We all weren't there on time so they can't sit everyone until like everyone's there. Also we had another person come and it took them awhile to add another chair. Once we got seated they gave us a complimentary drink to toast with. We don't drink alcohol so we asked for a nonalcoholic drink. It was good. The waitress explained the menu and we ordered. I got the filet mignon 10 oz. We got 3 sides and we split them between 5/6 girls. My fried got the pork milanese and it was huge & it came with some lettuce pieces. It was good. Also my filet was amazing! The Mac and cheese was delicious! We also got complementary bread, butter, salami, radishes and olives. They give you a free small mousse cake. It was good. Also for your birthday they give you a menu that says Happy Birthday with your name on it. The restaurant is nice and lit. The serving staff was really nice, knowledgeable and prompt. we ordered the warm seafood tower for six people, which was definitely enough for our group of five. I really love a warm seafood tower, and this one did not disappoint. The sauce was really flavorful and the clams were my favorite along with the lobster. I also got the steak frites which were amazing! my whole table was really happy with the steaks that they ordered - cooked to perfection. The sides were also really good but definitely on the spicier side so it didn't quite bother me but if you don't like spicy, I wouldn't get the spinach or broccolini. I had high hopes for this restaurant upon entering. The host that greeted us was very friendly and we were seated right away for our reservation. The interior is magnificent. Many rooms, all beautifully decorated. Great attention to detail with bold art and grand statements throughout the restaurant. Definitely 5 stars for decor. Then we were greeted by our server who was over the top, pushing too hard to sell us the Fire-Roasted Seafood Tower (which was, according to him, like no other anywhere due to the chilling process or lack thereof) and boasting about their 2 Star Michelin Chef. His presentation at the beginning of our meal was a complete turn off; there is a way to express your greatness without braggadocio. Unfortunately, his first impression set the tone for the evening and he remained pushy and rushed . . . not listening to our questions and seemingly distracted the entire evening. We ordered a few appetizers and soon after ordered our meal. Two of the four of us wanted the "I DON'T GIVE A F*@K" menu option which said "Let us take care of you - $195 per person" but it turned out the whole table had to order that option in order to allow them to choose all of our food so we switched to individual meals. Three of us ordered steak and the server came in hot once again, pushing the "Beefed Up Butter Arm Candy" (an additional $12) to add to our $60 steaks. At every turn, I felt like the server was trying to upsell us, which is not at all what I expect from what presented itself as an upscale restaurant when I sat down. The food was good but not spectacular. Frankly, we expected more based on the pricing. All of the following were decent: Oysters on the Half Shell, Wild Blue Prawn Shrimp Cocktail, Filet Mignon, Chicago Classic Boneless Ribeye, Fire-Seared Branzino, Black Truffle Loaded Potato, Brussels Sprouts and Fire Roasted Asparagus. (The standout was the Black Truffle Loaded Potato.) The presentation of the steaks and fish was lackluster. We also ordered several signature cocktails: Admired from Afar, Maple & Ash Old Fashioned, Illicit Affair and an Espresso Martini. All were flavorful. Overall, I wanted to love this place. Although I'm pretty sure we didn't meet the dress code requirements we were still treated with great customer service and those who served us were great and personable! I've been wanting to try the seafood tower and we got the Baller. I think it was great I although i thought it would be more food. The 2 tomahawk steaks we ordered were quickly devoured. They were flavorful, juicy, and tender. Although for the Brussels sprouts containing nuts, be cautious. Oysters tasted clean and fresh, definitely worth it when it comes to those. I recently visited Arizona for a birthday trip. I decided on Maple and Ash as my dinner choice since it was on my list of places to try. Let's get right to it, I had the 28day dry aged ribeye, it was overcooked I asked for medium rare, the Mac and cheese I ordered I never received it, the mash potatoes were extremely runny and I ordered corn which was the best item I had. I would only speak on my food, but my birthday party were not happy with their food as well. The ambiance was amazing I think that was the best thing about Maple and Ash. However the floor was super slippery and my friend fell really hard, so if you're wearing heels be careful. The service was ok, the server checked on us about 3times, but when told that we did not receive certain food we did not see her again. I'd give a 10 star if I could. None of us have been here before it was my son's birthday I planned it ahead of time and it was spectacular from the moment I arrived early. The gals at the front hostess stand were very attentive, outgoing and friendly. They showed me where our table would be to make sure it was perfect for my son surprise birthday dinner. Sean was our server and he was outstanding I would request him if I were you, we will be requesting him again. The ambience is stunning and the food is spectacular along with the presentation. We had the octopus appetizer and it was cooked to perfection. The cocktails was like being on vacation at a resort near the ocean. Went here for my birthday and what a special treat! The service was top tier and the food was on another level. I highly recommend coming here for brunch. You get quite a bit of food for the price and there is a bottomless mimosa option, as well as multiple cocktails! I had the crab Benedict for my entree and then for the table there was filet mignon, scones, bacon and potatoes You definitely have to get an espresso martini too, one of the best I've had! My group and I had a great time celebrating my birthday! The food and service were both amazing. The menus are such a fun aspect and I love that they customize your menu complimentary. My food was so good that I forgot to take a picture. The Bananas Foster Flambé (photo attached) is on their secret menu and is a must have! It was practically dinner with a show! They are pricey so I would say this is more of a special occasion dinner spot depending on your budget. Our server Laura provided great service and was so kind and accommodating! Always have the most amazing time at Maple and Ash. Such a great spot for celebration dinners as they customize the menu whether it is a congratulations or a happy birthday message! The steak is amazing and so are all the sides. I ordered the filet mignon with asparagus and potatoes au gratin which are a must every time. The service is great and the staff makes you feel so welcome. To top it off the vibe of the whole restaurant is cozy yet so elegant. We will continue to go back to Maple and Ash! read more
