Well, We are patrons of fine dining here in Phoenix and this is my first bad review. Friday Sept 13th was our first visit to Maple & Ash for my husbands Birthday. We arrived early around 5:15pm and was greeted by the Hostesses who were gracious and very accommodating. Next we made our way to the Bar for a pre dinner cocktail, here was out Outstanding Experience with Tony at the Bar, He got us seated, introduced himself to us and asked our names as well as knew a lot about the Phoenix/Scottsdale area considering he was from Long Beach Ca. Tony took great passion in making my husband's Bourbon Old Fashion, the drink was one of the most Amazing Bourbon Old Fashions that my husband has ever had and he is a Connoisseur. Thank you Tony for being Exceptional!!! We would give you 10 Stars! Now for the 1 Star experience, 6:00pm we moved to the dining room for our dinner and we were seated at a wonderful table! Then we met our waiter and this is where the review and experience falls to the lowest level. Waiter says we will be receiving a complimentary appetizer, I then informed the waiter that if it has dairy we will not be able to eat it, Waiter then says Everything here has dairy...hmm never asked me if I had an allergy and he seemed as if he did not want to be there and was not very accommodating or concerned as to why we could not eat dairy. So, I said again if the appetizer has dairy we will not be able to eat it and waiter replies There is no dairy in the French Onion Dip...hmm. Then we wait about 40 minutes for our dinner, 1 Bone in Filet, 1 Chicago Style Ribeye, FFries, Brussel Sprouts. When our meal finely came we got 1 Bone in Fillet, 1 Fillet which I did not order and our 2 sides. I informed the waiter that I did not order this steak, the waiter said just keep it or we will have to throw it away, I said I will not eat it and he kept saying keep it...ugh. Then waiter brings me my Chicago Style Fillet in about 3 minutes, I am what, how can this be so fast when we waited 40 minutes and I know a Steak takes longer than 3 minutes to cook, The steak tasted greasy, burnt on the outside and had butter on it when I ordered mine with out Butter...Hence No Dairy. My Husband and I will never eat here again, but we would definitely have a cocktail at the bar while Tony still works there! we are not looking to come back for a free meal, we just want you to not allow this experience in the dining room to happen to anyone else... read more

Came here for dinner on a Monday night in March. This place is extremely popular, reservations are certainly necessary. Very Covid compliant-- masks required, temperature checks at the door and spaced out seating. The venue is chic in design, low lighting sets the mood, a little bouchée and welcoming vibes. We sat in the bar area at one of the booths. Drea was our server and she really made our experience a memorable one. She was so friendly/personable, had great knowledge about the menu, gave some tasty recommendations for both food & drinks and checked in frequently to see how everything was. Knowing/seeing how busy the place was, she never made us feel rushed. The drink menu had some fun crafty cocktails which changes from time to time. I went with the Old Fashion (great choice). We started with the Beef Tenderloin Steak Tartare and the Hamachi Crudo-- both packed with flavor and so fresh. For dinner we shared the Full Rack of Australian Lamb Chops (maybe the best I've ever had), the Fire Roasted Seafood Tower and the baked potato & Brussels sprouts for sides. Certainly worth trying at least once-- and if you get Drea as your server, you'll be guaranteed great service. read more

Had an amazing birthday dinner with my husband. From the time we got there, the greeting was very kind. Our waitress was the best. She was very bubbly, and she explained the menu well. The food was so delicious, especially since we made it to tower hour and end up ordering a second tower and more. The ambiance was very sheek and upscale. Free Valet, but we pay anyway! They opened my door abs helped me out the car. Inside was crowded and I was nervous but the 6 ft mandate was in place, we received complimentary prickly pear martini which are my favorite, they brought bread and olives, delicious! This food is so flavorful and fresh tasting, my dad took us out for Mother's Day and he's a veteran, so he's ate food all over the world! But he stated this was the best food he's ever tasted! My husband and I had the most wonderful birthday dinner at Maple & Ash! Our server Dylan was AMAZING! He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience and that the birthday was special. So we've done brunch, we done dinner with I Don't Give a F@ck, we've done lots of take out during the pandemic, now we've finally come for Oyster Happy Hour! With the generous caviar over the oysters, we felt like royalty! Our server was so attentive, genuine and was on point for getting us cocktails in our hands during this happiest of hour! We had the Sizzling Beef which is only on their happy hour and it was indeed sizzling! The beef was so succulent and flavorful! Having had too many oysters, we decided a light dinner. The service was awful. It took us 20 minutes to even get to order our drinks. Then after that, we waited 45 minutes to order appetizers and of course she took our dinner order right away. Now let's talk about the food. My brother-in-law ordered a steak, medium rare it was bloody and red as can be this guy eats so much food and he did not finish that steak. The Seabass was the size of a wallet. The chicken was good. I do have to get them that and then it took us 30 minutes to even ask our server to pull plates after we were done eating and then she didn't even ask if we wanted dessert and it was my daughter's birthday. She handed us a menu after we asked for the menu and she says by the way the crème brûlée takes about 20 minutes and walks away. About 15 minutes later she came back and asked did you decide on a Dessert then my daughter said no she said I do not want one and she goes. Are you sure do you want me to bring you out something little with a candle on it? Does it make sense so now you're offering a smaller dessert for a birthday, which should've been given to her at the beginning rather than trying to upsell us at the end after 30 minutes of that we got our bill here's the kicker there is a service charge for employee benefits that we as consumers have to pay for. Are you kidding me do better. You are a well represented restaurant and the price that we pay to eat there. This service was awful and you lost 10 people who will not go back to that restaurant and in fact, I told some other people are encounter and now they refuse to go now let's talk about the ambience. Well high dollar place once again let me remind you of this. It was so loud in there. We had a circle table and we couldn't even hear each other. Talk to each other oh, and by the way when we asked one manager, can we get our plates pulled he said yes and he walked away 20 minutes ago bye another manager walks by and we ask him can we please get our plates pulled and he says yes let me go. Find someone now. Let me tell you this. I have worked in the restaurant business for almost all my life and this service and food at this place that so many people talk about was so wrong in so many ways I've been to Chili's and their managers even pull plates this service that we got I wouldn't even give it a star read more

We've come to realize that the personality and interaction with the bartender is critical for us deciding if we're are going to return We recently drove from pinnacle Peak to to Maple and Ash. We had the pleasure of Tony the lead bartender serving us. We had a great time talking with him throughout the entire night. The baked potato there was the best we've ever had!. What an amazing restaurant! Definitely not your run-of-the-mill steakhouse. It has such a special vibe. Fun, sophisticated and sexy all at the same time. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is none of us loved our steaks. We liked them. Just were not blown away. I splurged for the $12 "beefed up" butter. It had a great flavor and did help elevate the steak. We ordered so many other items and loved them all. The Caesar salad was especially memorable. Different than I've ever seen it prepared. I had a great experience at Maple & Ash. I ordered the grilled octopus, and for my first time trying it I loved it. The baller seafood tower is a must try, that's all we ordered for our main and it was perfect. We unfortunately got sat on their patio/tent, which I would have preferred inside. And on top of that we had a large party next to us that was very loud and we requested to be moved. The staff was very understanding, so 5/5 for that. The meat however was chewy and hard. We ordered medium filet and ribeyes, and it looked and tasted like well done. I ended my Yelp hiatus because I was so impressed with Maple & Ash. Pros: - Vibes were modern and elegant without being gaudy. Sheek lighting, dark colors without being too masculine. - Service was an example of operational excellence. Wait staff, hostesses, etc all moved seamlessly. Welcome drinks were a nice touch, and our cocktails were the best I've had in a year (keeping in mind I haven't left my house in a year) - This was one of the best cooked ribeyes I've had at a restaurant. Perfect temperature, very tasty. Buttery without being too buttery. Brussel sprouts a bit too sweet for my taste but the whole meal still excellent. - Our waitress was appropriately attentive and friendly. Five stars for the valet guys (apologetic about our dining experience), wine manager (seemed genuinely upset my steak was messed up), and server (provided excellent table service), the oysters were delish. Unfortunately two stars knocked off for each time my $67 steak was sent back to the kitchen. I ordered it medium. When it came back the third time, instead of just starting over, they tried to re-grill it, resulting in a sad birthday girl and a blackened dried rib eye steak. I must add, I have NEVER had to have a meal returned twice and shouldn't a steakhouse of that supposed caliber get it right the first time?!? Yes, the manager came over, apologized, and removed the $67...would have been nice to have my birthday dessert comped too (like most restaurants do!) especially 1) had to sit and watch my boyfriend eat his meal, 2) he had to sit and wait for my meal to arrive twice, 3) the broccolini side order sat there while I waited for my meal (couldn't they have reheated that?!)...side note is that it was wilted and over spiced with red peppers but at that point I didn't want to say anything more So one more star knocked off for that, 4) I was *really* looking forward to a nice steak for my birthday! read more

However she completely disappeared and I waited 26 minutes after asking for the check. They definitely over hype everything on their Instagram. I love this place and have been a good number of times so it hurts me to say that brunch was a little disappointing. I was sad to see (but I get it, everything is expensive these day) that the brunch had changed and the extra side dishes were taken away. One friend got the omelet and tho she said it was delicious I think for $32 it was over priced. Avocado toast for my other friend and myself and it was good, not great, again a bit pricy. A little more attention could have been paid to the arugula salad. We ordered potatoes, asparagus and bacon for sides and they were all good and nice size portions. Service was excellent as always. Hit or miss with the friendliness with the hostess at the front when you check in but the rest of the service is so good that you forget all about that part. The seafood is out of this world good. We always go with the baller seafood tower which is 2 levels of absolute greatness! More than enough for just him & I to share but it tastes even better for leftovers (which I usually don't like) but this food has changed that for me. A 22 ounce steak and a side to share. We switch between the mash potatoes and the mac&cheese. And if it's a special occasion, they really make you feel welcomed with a personalized menu. The first time we ever went was for my birthday and I think about 3 tables sent drinks over. It was such a nice vibe. Festive and yummy prickly pear vodka martini served as you were seated. Amuse bouche of Crusty bread with soft butter. Radishes and olives and a taste of salami also brought to the table. Here's what we ordered. Caesar salad (grilled) split for us in the kitchen. Australian aged bone-in ribeye to share. Perfect temp med-rare. Sizzling Smoky butter sauce. Delicatta squash with a couple crumbles of mixed cheese. Unexpectedly delicious. Roasted Brussels sprouts with candied/pepper bacon. Everything was PERFECT. Another cocktail for my friend and a French Bordeaux for me. Joseph selected our dessert - "Snow in Arizona" - a date cake (similar to carrot cake) with meringue dome and warm caramel sauce. Food was good but NOT worth paying more than the other steakhouses in town: my BIGGEST TURNOFF:3.5% service fee to pay for the staff's insurance and health benefits! I asked and this fee is OPTIONAL but you have to ask to have it removed from your bill. I said I would rather give my servers the 3.5% additional. We were told that the restaurant also takes 3.5% out of the gratuities the service staff earns during their service. This is absolutely NOT OKAY! STEP UP AN DPAY FOR YOUR STAFF'S BENEFITS! air is not the responsibility of others to pay those benefits! Maple and ash is a beautiful place to dine in I had a birthday celebration planned that my wife set up for me and 10 other guest when we sat down the wait staff was super nice they brought out water and served an alcoholic drink to all my ten guest its a free sample Every thing was going great till they found out no one in my party were going to order alcoholic drinks The service was rushed we felt like they were pushing us out Like they did not want us there because we were not drinking I did order the meatballs as an appetizer they were excellent And for my main entre i had the new york strip medium It was not seasoned to my liking and honestly at this point i felt like i could not say anything But the thing that bothered me the most was they they cleared all of our plates amd we were all Waiting for the desert menu but they didn't even bother to bring a desert menu to the table at this time we all felt like they really did not want us there Except for one of the waiters told me they had a special something for me on the house!! They brought out this small chocolate cake with a candle my friends sang happy birthday and i blew the candle When the waitress brought the check they had charged me for the cake!!!!!!!!
