We eat at restaurants A LOT. And this was hands downs my top 2 favorite. Not just the atmosphere and experience but the food was top notch! The service top notch. The drinks. Top notch!! We sat down and the hostess was sweet and chat with us. The table was beautiful and everything around us was stunning. The server brought us a sample of prickly pear margaritas and they were so good o had to get one. My 8 year old felt left out but only for a minute because they brought him a sample of a kids cocktail! Of course it was delish so he ordered one. We got complimentary salami, sourdough, olives and radishes. Dynamite! Then we ordered the bolognese, Mac and cheese, Brussels, and onion rings. Each one was absolutely amazing and full of flavor. Best Mac and cheese we have ever had! We salivated over each item. Our service was perfection in every way. Alex was our head server and I will be requesting him each visit. He was amazing. We finished our dinner with the chocolate cake and of course it was out of this world! We were so full but had to scrape the plate clean. I couldn't recommend coming here more! The steaks are cooked over a open flame so if a charred taste isn't satisfying to your palate I suggest you opting out for seafood. This was my third time there to celebrate a birthday. Great food, love the ambiance but horrible service. Addison was our server and he was slow to get to our table. Our celebration menu was not ready. The hostess said our server would have it and once our server arrived he didn't have it either. We didn't get our drink order until about 20 minutes after we sat down, our fresh silverware (new fork and steak knife) wasn't placed at our table until after our food had arrived and we didn't get asked for refills nor did he check up on us often. We're big fine dining fans and go to steak houses frequently so we're pretty disappointed in the experience especially because it was the birthday boy's first time and I hyped up the place often. The mashed potatoes do have too much butter and the chef's special appetizer of chips and caviar was very average. We splurged.. the only part of the meal I enjoyed was the oysters with caviar and some sort of spice amazingly done, however the 4th to last dish was a surf and turf. I'm allergic to penicillin, I specifically asked the staff about their meat and they guaranteed it was all the things that would be organic etc well I only had two bites of the steak they brought out.. an hour after the meal I was horribly sick which is the reaction to the meat.. Cows are heavily dosed with penicillin to keep them from getting sick.. Free range cows don't get this treatment.. I don't feel that their meat is what they say it is.. that's all I'm going to say.. the only part i thoroughly enjoyed was our wait staff/bartender he was amazing.. LONG STORY SHORT we were seduced into "I Don't Give A F*@K Let us take care of you" (Yes, I said seduced. After giggles and drinks, and flirting and complete food porn brought to our table we realized we were in too deep and we weren't getting out without a hard smack on the tush. BUT, yet again he smooth talked us into a little dessert and a nightcap before we tried to leave. I wish we got to choose that dessert and our drinks because that was actually my least favorite part of our time together. Then we got our bill.. Overpriced to the absolute moon and back with subpar quality and predatory waiters. Our waitress started pouring me a drink before I had even ordered one. The food was good but incredibly small and with ingredients I could get at home for less than $5. I was invited to a birthday meal and did not know that I would be paying - yet the waitress started giving me food and drink before I had even opened my mouth. I was served carrots with some dressing, garnish, mushrooms, and a single runny egg on top. For $75. The sides were mediocre - my Lord how disappointed one should be with the potatoes. Incredibly bare potatoes with "truffle" that is laughable. Zinburger for heaven's sake puts 10x the amount of truffle on their fries than this "fancy" restaurant does. Most abhorrent of all was their treatment of my friend. Sitting right next to us at another table were a bunch of young children under ten. At the only other table near us besides the table full of children, there was a party of women wearing essentially nothing. Meanwhile our friend was not allowed in the building because she "was wearing slippers". I call BS. Our friend is overweight and this place discriminated against her because they didn't want to lower their appearance YET they allowed this group of girls with their butts hanging out to dine (and twerk when they started getting drunk) next to children. Do not eat here. The food is decent, but the service is predatory. The management is discriminatory. The food is absolutely not worth the price. I may have never seen a place less worth the price in my life. Eat at McDonald's if you're considering going here in all honesty. Man what a disappointment this was. You would think for a restaurant that you are gonna drop 500 dollars for 2 people would at least give you decent/good service! Get there, we get seated, after 10 min someone comes out and tried to give us a small shot of martini, wife is Prego we wanted to get some appetizers in since we were starving. She said she would be back to take our order. They sat a big table next to us with 10 people which I think they knew or were regulars. We were forgotten for the next 15-20 min, so now we have been there 25 min for my wife's bday and have not gotten service, no water and still have not ordered drinks and appetizers. It's now 10 pm on a weekday reservation was at 9:30. She finally gets to us apologizes, busy night she said, Now we order everything we could, king crab legs, octopus, yellow tale dish she recommended plus i got a diet soda and a martini for me and wife a non alcoholic martini. Slowly appetizer started rolling out, which was amazing since we were hungry and it was getting late, we also put in our order for the food we got swordfish and bone in ribeye... and some sides she recommended. Meanwhile I never got my soda, and we literally asked 4 times for out drinks!!!!! 4 freaking times... Once our appetizers were done we finally got our drinks... Our waitress literally said "I made these myself" we are so slammed. Hmmmm so you went behind the bar and made us out drinks??? Now it's Almost 11 pm, no main course, have not Ben checked on for a while and when she came she let us know that our food should be out soon but they are closing the kitchen. It's my wife's birthday we want to get a cake to blow out a candle... lol close the kitchen?. I said but we want desert!!! Candle? Cake? I said fine we get our dinner to go. I am not messing with you when I said we got our dinner to go!!!!! Yes we got our food to go so we can have cake to get some photos prior to them closing the kitchen. We got a coconut moose, they brought a menu that said happy bday on it with my wife's names spelled wrong haha we were cracking up about the entire thing. 400 dollar later, one drink each that we had to beg for. We did not even get an offer for a photo for the wife's bday to top it off. Our waitress was super busy with the big group next to us all night. We cracked up about it, we go to ocean 44 and steak 44 all the time! We are spoiled with amazing food and service. Sad that you can drop 200 dollars a person for dinner and get no service. Side note we got an extra appetizer that we did not order we pointed it out she said she will comp it it's on the house and she charged us for it anyway and if I had not pointed it out or looked over the check. My wife and I are fortunate to be able to visit nice places like this often. Recommended by my sister, Maple and Ash was a delightful place to celebrate both of our birthdays with friends. If deciding to dine here, I suggest making your reservation far in advance. When making our reservation, the only time they had left was 10:00pm. Although I love a good dimly lit room to set the mood, the room we were seated in was a little too dim for my taste, especially when it came to eating our food. Our cocktails were creatively crafted and tasted delicious down to the last drop! Some of our starters and sides were the oysters, fire-roasted asparagus, crispy onion rings and bubbling potato gratin (all a 10/10 and highly recommend). Some of our main courses included a petite filet mignon, surf and turf and bone-in dry aged new york strip made to our satisfaction. Went to celebrate a friend's birthday and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was just okay and I really don't understand the hype around this place. The waitstaff is very attentive. So attentive to the point it became annoying. I'm all for checking beverages to make sure my water glass is never empty, but coming to the table every three to five minutes is over kill. When we would get into a conversation, it was interrupted by the waitstaff. Our waiter was very nice and friendly the entire time. The food was definitely nothing to brag or write home about. I ordered the filet and mac. The filet could've used a bit more salt and pepper. I didn't care for the mac noodles as they were freshly made pasta noodles. The noodles were very dense and seemed to be better accompanied by a marinara sauce. However, the cheese sauce was good. My friend ordered the baller tower, mac, mashed potatoes, and wedge salad. She was a bit disappointed they didn't put the noodles in the baller tower. But, she was told that's a secret menu item and they brought them out after the fact. The mashed potatoes looked like instant potatoes that lacked character and was very soupy. The baller tower was good but could've used more sauce. I was also a bit disappointed that their dessert menu lacked the normal steakhouse desserts. This experience definitely wasn't worth the $120 I paid. I'll have to stick with Ocean 44 because they are amazing! I don't see myself returning but I did enjoy the atmosphere and would recommend that people give it a try.
