Maplewood has long been my favorite brunch spot and I don't understand why the Mason location closed! Everything I've had here is phenomenal from the burgers to avocado toast to the hash (my all time favorite savory option). This time around I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and hash - I've never had the pancakes and it's hard for me to stray from the hash because I love it so much. It included maple syrup, fresh fruit, and a blackberry compote. We chose French press for our coffees, and they use La Terza as one of their coffees, which is the only coffee we use at home. Fantastic meal, and we hope to return. Helpful info: This place is great for gatherings of all kinds. They do have a kids menu as well. You may have a wait, as you must follow a line through to the counter where you place your order prior to grabbing a seat. I honestly loved most things about this place. As soon as I walked in, I felt like the interior was working its charm on me lol. It has a really cute, earthy, yet sophisticated vibe to it that I really liked. After looking at the menu, you order at the counter. The food came out pretty quickly, but most of the service is self-serve. You get your own water and you place your order st the register. I don't have any issue with that, but just a head up for those of you are have issues with mobility. The food was really good. I think the star of the menu is the Maplewood hash. It was delicious, hardy, and had a great mix of flavors. I was also a fan of the skewers. If I were you I would get a main dish and pair it with the skewers, lol. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 starts was because of the avocado toast. I'm a big fan of avocado toast, and I was pretty sad when I bit into this one. The flavors just didn't mesh. Super cute place for breakfast. Not a huge fan of standing in line to order rather than having wait staff, but it was cool. Also, we were there early and there wasn't much of a line, really. I ordered the Avocado Benedict . My meal included asparagus and I ordered a side of goetta. It was delicious. It did not come with a hollandaise sauce, making it a unique Benedict. We tried to get one of their cold pressed drinks, but the juice presser wasn't up and running yet. Hmm... The restaurant is quite beautiful and we enjoyed the experience. My friends and I want to enjoy a mimosa. A flavored mimosa is $10. Since they were out of pressed juice, we were told to grab a juice from the cooler. After paying for our meal, we realized we were charged $6 for the juice. Our mimosa added up to be $16 dollars. I would had wished the cashier would have told us we would be charged for the little amount of juice that is added to the champagne. Disappointed with this situation. It comes with 2 extra large pancakes and a berry compote- perfection every time. Could never go wrong ordering the standard American breakfast- eggs your way. I enjoyed the cool brunch energy of the place, although I opted to skip the midday booze. My Mediterranean bowl was tasty and deceivingly filling. It didn't look like much, but the quinoa and hummus packed a nice protein punch. I added chicken skewers, too, which were juicy and flavorful. I got an iced earl grey tea; this was a miss. Earl grey is their seasonal flavor... but some things shouldn't be iced. We were unaware you order at the counter & then find a seat But My sister & I still really enjoyed this place. We got there around 10:15am & there were maybe 10-12 people in front of us. The line moved fairly quick. There is quite a bit of different style seating. The way they operate it doesn't seem as though people have to stand around waiting. It was nice and open with good lighting. We found a table immediately after ordering. Our food came out within 5 minutes, So that was nice. They did come to take plates & anything out of your way but you don't have an actual server. We didn't mind. It worked out great for us. We loved everything we got. The Breakfast hash with eggs was flavorful & light. We shared the fresh pressed SOL GLO juice & it was so refreshing.. The lemon cookie was delicious. *My first experience at Maplewood* My friends and I chose this for a cute Saturday lunch,and arrived around 1 pm. We walked into a plethora of tables, empty, with leftover food and empty plates on them, making it difficult to select a table. When ordering our food, we were greeted with a displeasured demeanor by cashiers. After ordering and selecting the only open, clean table, our food and drinks came shortly after. The majority of our food was good, however the eggs I was served were still chirping, completely raw. The staff was less than nice and unhelpful. I had chilaquiles and salmon skewers both days and it was the best chilaquiles I've ever had!!!!! The salmon was cooked perfectly. How have I lived in Cincinnati for years and never been to Maplewood?! This restaurant is 100% worth the hype -- and I will definitely be returning soon. I met up here with a friend for a late, working lunch around 2 p.m. I was a little worried about showing up an hour before they closed -- but there were plenty of people there with the same idea. The interior is bright and beautiful -- complete with contemporary California vibes. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and I love that they serve breakfast all day. I opted for the Goddess Greens Salad with some added chicken, and I couldn't pass up one of their Brown Butter Cookies to-go. My salad was enormous, and packed with fresh flavors! If you don't want to add any protein, this salad could definitely stand on its own, but I was happy to have the chicken as an addition. Since this was a working lunch, we ended up connecting our laptops to their Wi-Fi, which was fast and easy to access. I ended up eating the cookie in the car on my way home ... and was impressed with how soft and buttery it was. Definitely a must-add to any order. Maplewood truly was wonderful in every way. In fact, my only complaint is that I wish they were open later for dinner! Drove by and saw open tables so we knew we would not have to wait long to eat. We street parked and walked over. We were surprised that you order up front and then find a table, but it worked out just fine. The menus are hanging on clipboards close to the front of the line. The coffee menu/drink menu is not printed. The coffee menu is painted on the wall. The other drinks are on signs. We waited about 15 min in line and found three open tables to choose from. When you order a cup of coffee, they give you a cup to go fill on your own. I wanted to try both regular brews during my visit, so I filled my cup only to the halfway point. Then on my next trip to the coffee station, I had the other brew. I thought the coffee was too weak- too watered down. I prefer a stronger, thicker coffee, so I was not impressed and opted not to buy their beans. But that's my personal taste. I like more coffee and less water in my brew ratio. Next time I'll have americano or espresso. But I didn't see their specialty coffee menu until we were seated. It was painted on the pillar. There's a water station where you can grab a cup and fill up. We placed our drinks and number on the table and waited. Food was out in about 20 min. Everything was delicious. However- their butter is not salted and if it is, it's very lightly salted. So I was happy to have the salt shaker on the table. Also- my toast did not arrive toasted. I did mention this to a manager who came by to ask how we were doing and he promptly ordered me a side of toast. I only needed one slice but instead I ended up with five or six!!! That was a nice fix though. The toast was much better. The Maillard reaction is why toast is so irresistible- so it has to be toasted!!! We ate the eggs your way (request egg whites, and goetta as my protein), a side of lemon ricotta pancakes, and the morning hash with added pulled chicken for more protein. Salt, hot sauce and ketchup did the trick and we ate it all. The cookies looked awesome- especially the cornflake one. I love that they have cocktails and mimosas etc. I would eat here again. A lot of menu items remain that I'd like to try. The side of bacon looks awesome. The strong reviews are no joke and was on target. The grab a menu from a clip board with a smallish menu was unique. I had already looked at photos that were drool worthy. My daughter took a bit longer deciding on brunch or lunch and was assisted by friendly staff. Ultimately a kids cheeseburger and fries for my daughter and eggs your way for me. You pay at the counter and food is brought out. The dining room is drop dead gorgeous in a historic property. High ceilings, stunning long bar and large leather booths with concrete floors. A gentleman delivered food, cleared tables and managed the bar. Either the GM or owner, but absolutely focused on all facets of the job. The food was great and omg the bacon was killer! We were in town for the weekend and a friend had recommended Maplewood Kitchen. We went for lunch on a Saturday and the line was quite long when we got there (like to the door!) it probably took 15-20 minutes until we ordered and then another 10-15 min until our food came. I'm glad we waited though because the food was so good! My favorite thing we ordered was the lemon hummus with lavash chips. So so good! (And still good the next day as left overs). The fries reminded me of McDonalds fries in the best way possible. The salmon skewers were well cooked.
