Wow what an awful experience. Everything that could have gone wrong did. We came in for a quick bite for a late lunch since we had dinner plans already. We asked our server for recommendations but we could barely understand him so that didn't help us. We ended up ordering the bistec sandwich to share with a side of arroz con frijoles. We asked for the onions on the side since my boyfriend does not like them. Later we see another table sat right next to us and within 5-10 minutes of ordering they received their appetizers. So we complained to our server that we have been waiting for 30 minutes and still haven't received our sandwich or anything. He said it was because it's not an appetizer and it needs to be pressed... literally the worst excuse. Then 10 more minutes go by and we finally get our sandwich. At this point we were in a hurry so I ate it so quickly I could barely enjoy it. The fries on the side were not fresh I couldn't eat them. Also we asked for the onions on the side but they were not. When we complained again they apologized and said since we were waiting so long they would give us a discount. They came back again later to say there were no onions in the sandwich just in the sauce (it would have been nice for our server to notify us of this before hand). So we were unhappy with them and just wanted to leave. We got our bill and received 10% off which was nothing for all the chaos. And on top of that they charged us an 18% gratuity fee. We were shocked. Never have I experienced such horrible customer service. Update: we went back to give it another try and the service was much better. Cesar was the best. He was very accommodating and could understand exactly what we wanted. He checked up on us and made sure we were happy with our food. For drinks the mojitos were great! I loved the passion fruit mojito. The smoked salmon croquetas were amazing! Wow they were a hit. The tropical ceviche appetizer looked beautiful and came out in a coconut. However it wasn't amazing. The tostones chips were not good - very dry. Also the tuna toston had the same - not very fresh tostones. The tuna was great tho. For dessert we tried the pudin de pan (bread pudding) and it was really good. I liked it. The flan de queso was a bit strange. I don't like cheese but the cherries were amazing. I really wanted to try the cuatro leche but it wasn't available. If you're visiting the Brickell city center I would recommend the drinks and croquetas! The atmosphere is really nice too. read more

Also the tables are so close together that the servers have there butts practically in your food when they are talking to the people next to you. Popped in for some late night drinks and snacks. We were sat immediately at a table right next to where the servers cash out checks. Marabu, get rid of this table! It's crammed into a corner and you're constantly getting bumped or blocked in by servers. The decor of the restaurant is gorgeous, especially the bar area. And the server going around refilling water gets an A++. Our pinchos de pulpo (octopus) came out at fast food-like speed. The pulpo was tasty but for $16 the portion was very small. I wasn't crazy about the Cuban potato salad that came with it. The potatoes were undercooked and it had some kind of fruit in it. The fish soup, while full of fish, was bland and whatever fish was in there had this weird, mushy texture. The drinks took awhile to come out but were very good. The beauty of the restaurant and unique cocktails might lure me back (pics on Yelp of the rotisserie chicken look pretty tempting) but I don't go to Brickell hardly ever so we'll see. My first time and it's safe to say I will be coming back! The ambiance was awesome and the food was DELICIOUS. We ordered the ceviche (not the mango one, there's two I just can't remember the name) and the skirt steak with rice and beans. Super fresh and tasty. We went here to try Cuban cuisine. Which was a mistake. We were better off going to a hole in the wall Cuban place (they're usually the best). I got the Flank Steak which on the menu is the Vaca Frita. It was very dry with a horrible after taste. The tostones was super salty I can make them better. We were kayaking all day I didn't have lunch so I ate it anyways, because they were busy so why wait for another dish? The manager after we told him said that's how it is actually. Very dry. That's disappointing. So Cubans can't cook good Latin foods then? Asking for a friend. I'm Latina and know they are do better than this. Anyways the Marabu mojitos were like drinking juice. We were not looking for a discount we told him that just wanted to let them know it's not good. Believe me we didn't receive it from the manager. He did however charge an automatic 20% tip. For a table for two? We were going to tip the waitress anyways because it's not her fault the food sucks she just works there. I can't promise it would be the full 20% because it took the other manager to go find her to wait on us. He apologized for her tardiness on greeting us and asking for beverage. Usually standard is within two minutes the table should have been greeted and asked if they want a beverage. But what do I know? Before we received our food the servers were continually mistaking our table for another putting down other customers beer and tuna tartar appetizers down on our table. Then when a brunette male server finally brought our food we had ordered it was incorrect. When I told the server it was INCORRECT, he proceeded to ROLL HIS EYES at me and speak DISRESPECTFUL to me, that it wasn't his problem and I would need to speak with my waiter. Never have I been so disrespected in a restaurant. Then I saw him proceed to the kitchen, where I could visible see (because the kitchen is separated with a glass window) him speak with my waiter. My waiter Julia, finally came out with me to apologize that the order was wrong, because the produce was not up to service quality. That was fine, but the servers attitude was not. She apologized and then told us, she was speaking to the manager and that we would be taken care of. But never offered anything to fixed the side that I had not wanted that they brought out (which was the size of a butter bowl no less) I would also like to point out that after her apology, neither the server or the manager ever came to our table to apologize for the servers behavior. And Julia never mentioned anything else. After feeling so disrespected of course I was not going to order more drinks, dessert or coffee. And it was not just our table, table next too us was having problems with their food. When the check came they had done nothing and charged us there normal 20% service charge fee. There service had done nothing to receive a 20% tip. What is sad is, the food and the drinks were good. And I was happy to pay the premium food prices for the location and the experience. But the service was terrible and if you want a fancy cuban place near here with a good vibe there are other places that will treat you superb. Finally I would also like to point out that they are NOT SOCIALLY DISTANCING and tables, especially booth tables are not at least 6 feet apart. read more

Wow, what a treat! My cousin brought me to this spot yesterday, and as I eat my leftovers I felt compelled to share. Firstly, if you read my reviews you know how much customer service means to me, Marabu HAS THIS ON LOCK! Our waitress was fantastic but every staff that came out way had the same desire to support in whatever you need, including the GENERAL MANAGER. Who is a real vibe. I want to apologize because I am forgetting names. The food: WOW! Tasssstyyyy and what I also love is that somehow that made the cuisine healthy. I have the churassco and my cousin had the salad with chicken, they also brought us out crocettas which are the BEST I've tasted in Miami (and are vegan), PERIOD. The steak was tasty, I chose a seasonal salad which was an avocado salad, which was SOOO YUMMY! And sweet plantains. Go peep this spot. We order salad instead of fries and it came out with fries. The bread of the burger was so hard I couldn't eat it adding to the dissatisfaction the burger was served cold. Thank you for the waitress for offering to change it but I don't like returning food to the kitchen. The meat was not prepare medium. The meat was dry and over cooked. I don't know about the rest of the food the drinks or desserts but please do not get the burger you will be disappointed. Everything was delicious but the best items were surprisingly the soup of the day and the black beans and rice.
