I go here a few times a month and the service is always fast, the food is fairly priced, and the portions are large. Servers with piss-poor attitudes, completely disorganized and chaotic; restaurant is dirty and in desperate need of deep cleaning (don't look up at the ceiling tiles); food was disgusting and flavorless. I like this place. The first time we stopped there, we were looking for pizza after spending a few hours at a place not too far away where we played laser tag and arcade games. This popped up and one of the kids with us said they had eaten there. On this visit, the kids ordered pizza and my husband and I ordered entrees. I decided to splurge and order the Lobster Supreme (Lobster ravioli, asparagus, lump crab, & shrimp in a pink sauce) for $19.99. It was fabulous. Certainly one of the tastiest pasta dishes I have eaten in many years. The kids really liked the pizza and it appeared to be a decent quality for the price. The second time we went, we were celebrating my husband's birthday. We sat on the dining room side. The bread they served before the meal was very good. The salads were also good. We all ate different meals and with only one exception, they were very tasty. My daughter had the lasagna and it was a large portion for $10.95. She really liked it. My son was the oddball of the group and chose a cheeseburger deluxe ($4.50) and fries ($2.79). It was good sized and he thought it was pretty tasty. The order of fries were good, too. I had the Manicotti for $10.95. The pasta dough was super thin, the cheese filling was good, and the sauce was the perfect foil for the rich dish. My dad had the Spaghetti with meatballs for $10.95. Three large meatballs and a large serving of pasta. He was unable to finish it. Basic, but good. My husband, the birthday boy, opted for a variation the Shrimp & Sea Scallops for $16.95. He had them hold the shrimp and sub in extra scallops. He also asked for them in a garlic and oil sauce. The scallops were perfectly cooked. He loved the dish and can't wait to go back. The only bummer of a dish was the one my mom selected. She had the Pasta Alla Pesto for $10.95. It was a large serving of pasta that had been pre-tossed in a pesto sauce. The sauce was thick (not in a good way) and very, very bland. Which is odd for a pesto sauce. It was a pale-ish green, not the vivid green I usually expect from a sauce freshly made from lots of fresh basil. There was also very little garlic flavor. It was also lacking salt. She took most of it home and said it was a little better the second day after adding salt when reheating, but the flavor was still pretty bland. The birthday boy was given a cannoli and it was pretty decent. I am not a big pasta eater, but that manicotti was worth every freaking carbohydrate. In the future, I will ask them to see if they can add a little chopped fresh basil. We will definitely return. I know the pizza is popular, but I'd actually rather go there for the entrees (which you are free to eat on either side of the establishment). We made reservations for 4 on Saturday night for our daughter's birthday. The place was crowded, but we were seated in about 10 minutes. We then sat for about 20 minutes without a server even stopping by. Finally, I flagged someone down and they got someone to come by about 5 minutes later. We promptly ordered and went on enjoying our evening. It is a BYOB, so we had drinks to pass the time. About 20 minutes later, our soup and salad came out and the soup was very cold. We weren't that upset, as we figured we could just take it to go. When the server stopped by, I very politely mentioned it was cold and could she please be sure the meals were hot. She was very nice, apologized, and assured me she would. Another 20-30 minutes pass and the meals come out one at a time. My eggplant rollatini is ice cold. I flag down a runner and again, politely ask if she could please get it heated up. 10 minutes later, she brings it back. This time, lukewarm at best. I send it back again, this time a little more assertively, but still polite. I hate people who yell at servers for kitchen mistakes, but enough is enough. Finally, another 10 minutes later, my meal comes out and it is finally hot. The only problem is, it is over-drenched in sauce, but fine. The food is very good, but I don't think I will be returning, which is a shame. Would never trust them to host an event again after such a poor experience. I went for a rehearsal dinner reserved months in advance for the back room, where people showed up 4 hours early to decorate, and an hour early to tie up loose ends. They got upset after putting down appetizers for the tables only to realize, after people were eating, it was meant for another party. They then accused us of being the wrong party and that weren't supposed to be in the room, though we had specifically reserved the room, decorated, walked through several times with them, and confirmed with the establishment prior the room reservation. The server was frustrated and rude for the rest of the night due to the appetizer mix up, was yelling food orders rather than keeping track of them, and angrily placed a few plates on tables. When the second party arrived, we were berated by several guests for "stealing" their room. It turned out they booked another party by the same name in another part of the restaurant, but were telling the second party they had the back room due to the double booking. The establishment did nothing to help clear up the situation, didn't apologize, didn't have a manager speak with us, and didn't communicate the issue with us. The employee who our party spoke with earlier in the day avoided speaking or looking at us, rather than apologizing or defusing the situation. Went to Marcello's the place was busy on the restaurant side and pizza side. Seating is very uncomfortable, hard wood, and tables are close together. Plastic Pepsi water glasses would have ben better on the Pizza side. The place is BYOB. There is a choice of soup or salad, I had the salad with the house dressing which is a creamy something, I am not sure what the taste was. It is served on a large heavy plate, not really suitable for a small salad. I had chicken with vodka sauce. The serving is very large and generous unfortunately the quality is not. The chicken was rubbery with a funny taste. I don't think it was cooked fresh in Marcello's kitchen and probably came form Sysco's kitchen. This really is not acceptable. For me the sauce was too thick and and not really tasteful. It could have used some cream and seasoning. Service was fine. Carlisle had two very good Italian restaurants, both now closed, this leaves an opening for the best Italian in Carlisle and hope Marcello will try to claim this spot. I think Marcello's are opening a new restaurant in the former Masland space. Grossly unprofessional owner serving lackluster food with a side of empty promises. (The food at the nearby Napoli Pizza is better.) Months in advance, we booked the main room for a 90th birthday party or at least we thought did. During our meetings about booking the room we discussed with the owner where everything would go - 4 displays, a screen, the bar and the gift table. We were all over the room, clearly using the whole thing. Never once did the owner mention that we wouldn't have every table. He never mentioned a minimum cost for the room or a minimum number of meals - a purposeful omission. Then the day of the event came and we started setting up. The owner informed us that we couldn't use the entire room, that he had reservations and needed several tables. His excuse was that we would have had the whole room for our original number - 50-60 people. The problem - we NEVER said we would have anywhere near 50 people, which we confirmed with the 25-30 he noted in the reservation book. When questioned, he deflected by saying that the servers would arrive to answer questions and to help us set up. In speaking with the servers, we also found out that we weren't getting the green vegetable we were promised - not a lie of omission, but an outright lie. The worst part was that the servers told us that he does this kind of thing all the time AND sends the issues to the servers to solve. What kind of owner knowingly creates problems, then forces his employees to handle the irate customers! So much for asking to see the person in charge! Then, we weren't 15 minutes into the event when the owner sent the servers to confirm who received the bill! The owner was lucky his servers worked so hard to make up for his shortfalls. The right side is the pizzeria, adorned with framed photos of gorgeous sea side towns from the motherland and hung above a door way is three handpainted charactritures of some famous celebrities....and of course...more friendly faces waiting to take your order. Ate on the pizzeria-side. The pizza slices were decent and deserve more than the two stars I gave... the problem was the dining area but more on that in a moment. As for the food, the prices are pretty good - I got two slices of cheese pizza and a drink (Pepsi products if that's important to you) for $5.00 so the price is right. Now back to the dining experience. It's early July and 86 degrees outside... and it was WAY more comfortable outside than inside. I understand that you go to a pizzeria for pizza and not necessarily for atmosphere but I was sweating while trying to eat - uncomfortable and gross. I know it's a business which can require tough financial decisions but turning on the existing air conditioners would have been a little higher on my list. There are some Italian restaurants that are a little complicated to dine at. Its no ones fault really, I guess you can blame it on authenticity. This place has good food, no question, but the options are almost too plentiful. They have the menu broken down by meat choice. If you want chicken, there is a chicken category, then for beef, seafood, etc. Each of those lists has maybe 5-10 items. As if that doesn't make for enough variety, you then have your choice of any kind of pasta. This gets especially tricky if you don't know what kind of pasta you like. I bet this place gets a lot of "I like that kind that's curly or straight, long, fat, skinny" Haha. Anyway, after pondering all the choices and discussing them with my friends (as we were all having difficulty deciding), I was very satisfied with my selection. We still love Marcello's! Their alfredo sauce is very good, salads are fresh and big (and much improved over last year)! Iced tea isn't the greatest, though... Caprese is also delicious....and HUGE!
