ASTICE $ Astice-nova scotia lobster, burrata, basil, eggplant al funghetto.

Upscale Italian at Central Park West was excellent. $36 martinis was offset by a very reasonable Soave Classico "La Rocca" 2024 -- $115, great value. Fusilli with octopus was spectacular. All the food was terrific. The bread guy could have come more often. Service very good. The crowd was definitely uptown for this East Village native. The Astice appetizer was terrific, lobster with burrata. Appetizers average $40, entrees $65. Saturday crowd looked like regulars. We normally eat south of 23rd street. The bar was full as was the restaurant. I wanted to give 4 and a half stars. Maybe 5 stars next time.

Soooo good!! It lives up to the hype still. Loved everything. The ravioli was so good, it's got 2 different flavors inside which was magical. Also there's bread service that you can keep asking them for bread. I probably ate a whole lot of the sourdough. It was amazing! Try everything here!

Another great meal in a beautiful space, soft lighting but bright enough to read the menus and white fabric blinds on the street side providing playful lighting rather than views of pedestrian and car traffic, quiet enough to enjoy the dinner conversation. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Now to the food, a few new dishes on the menu. Chose the creamy ricotta filled ravioli on a bed of puréed ramp topped with peas and crispy bits of lamb. Only wished there was a little more lamb, the crispy bits added a nice contrast in texture to the house-made ravioli. Their version of Cesar salad is incredible topped with toasted bread crumbs, the portion size more than generous enough to share. For dessert we shared the chocolate crema and the bombolinis which were fresh from the kitchen light and warm served with chocolate and caramel sauces.

I've been wanting to come here for a long time, and I probably should have, because I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. The service was a bit bumpy. The sommelier was great, but our server was slightly condescending. Perhaps she judged us because we were a bit younger, but I don't think she realized we were paying with a corporate card. At some points the clearing was aggressive and at other points we had to ask for fresh plates between courses. I love the wine we ordered: a blanc de blancs with a surprisingly fruity finish and a delicious, classic chablis. The meal started and ended strong, but the in between was a bit puzzling. We loved: The Siberian caviar experience with the cheese puffs was divine. The oysters were good. The fusilli with octopus and bone marrow. The halibut main. The bistecca. Not so much: The sea urchin (ricci) had a weird flavor. The Nova Scotia lobster and burrata came with a sort of chia pudding, which didn't work in terms of flavor or texture. The sea bass tartare did not look appetizing and textures were a bit more interesting, but the flavors were not great. The ricotta ravioli was just okay. Not sure I would come back and they probably don't want me to after this review, but I'll likely opt to try one of the other 30,000 restaurants in this city.

Came back for a Valentine's Day prefix and I continue to love the pasta and the tiramisu (which is different from traditional tiramisu - it has a hard outer chocolate shell). The only misses were the meat entrees - we got a duck and the steak and both were overcooked. But we didn't mind given how good everything else was.

Marea is definitely the scene located steps from Central Park, full of beautiful people & wallstreet types and buzzing like it's Friday night in Manhattan even on a Tuesday. We had a reservation and still waited about 20 minutes to be seated -The host staff were not friendly or welcoming at all - they had a "you get what you get" attitude but we weren't phased, it gave us time to people watch from the bar. Many guests were left standing and hovering near the hostess stand, which made the entrance area feel a bit chaotic. Once we finally got our table, the service was polite but kind of mechanical. Like, efficient but not exactly warm. The food was beautifully presented, but flavor wise it didn't match the price tag. We ordered a couple of appetizers , an entree and dessert so I left full... but not impressed. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype or the price point for me. While beautifully presented, most of the dishes were somewhat underwhelming, especially considering Marea's reputation and cost. Now the one thing I would come back for is their "bruschetta." And I say that in quotes because it's not your typical tomato-basil pomodoro style . This one is garlic bread topped with burrata and kaluga caviar. It's fancy, it's bougie, it's delicious , basically the Beyoncé of appetizers. All in all, Marea is worth a try if you're staying nearby and want the full Manhattan dining experience of polished, pricey, and packed. But for me, it was more of a "been there, done that, glad I wore heels" kind of night. Probably not one I'd return to.

Sat outside this time (2025) and they had a great server with a good sense of humor, kept the drinks flowing and came to attention anytime we needed anything pretty regularly, fixing any order issues, and while the seating wasn't the most comfortable (a lot of noise and end of summer heat), the food and service was worth it. Appetizers were ok, probably have to try the oysters next time - the sea bass tartare was ok for me, others liked it more, and the polipo (grilled octopus) was good, they pre-cut it for us to help with sharing. Bread came around twice, and a small dip of olive oil to go with the multigrain or focaccia. Had 3 different pastas, these were all excellent, and they helped us split them up: - casarecce (crab, sea urchin, basil, chile) - excellent, rich - fusilli (octopus, bone marrow) - always a fave - risotto al funghi (mushroom, taleggio, parmigano) Desserts - panna cotta was softer than I'd like, and I don't like tiramisu, but the bomboloni dessert was great - little fried donuts and caramel/berry sauce to dip into. Overall, great spot again although next time I'll ask them to seat us inside.

2 appetizer sized pasta (spaghetti and fuscti)

The food was incredible. The bread and olive oil just hit different, but it doesn't distract from the amazing appetizers. Oysters are of course a staple food for me, and these were delicious. My entree took a little bit, yet it was completely worth it since it was absolutely incredible. I definitely recommend it as well as the spaghetti with beef (it's not on the menu, just ask). The servers were super kind and got our requests done almost instantly. The scenery was very chill and pleasant, and it was spaced out well so it wasn't very loud. My only problem was the constant human traffic of servants around my table because we were close to the the outside door, but it's a tiny issue. Overall, great place, I can see why it had 2 michelin stars at one point.

    Anniversaries!

We had a pleasant time at Marea for our anniversaries, but we left somewhat underwhelmed by the overall experience. Service was good - attentive, knowledgeable- all you'd expect from a restaurant at this price point. For starters, the oysters we had were ...oysters. Fresh, nice variety but nothing extraordinary. Same with their "Polipo" - their grilled octopus. We've had better at local Greek and Italian restaurants for sure. Entrees were mixed. I thought my Fusilli dish, with a bone marrow red sauce and baby octopus, was very good. The Malfadine - pasta with king crab in a garlic butter, parsley and breadcrumbs - was just OK. Sounded great, tasted a bit bland. Same with the Casarecce - lump crab, sea urchin with a bit of spice from the chilis - was just OK. Our favorite this evening was the side order of potatoes, the "Patate". Our drinks were also a mixed experience and nothing extraordinary. "Singapore Sling" was solid, However, the ladies' choice of "Royal Blush" lacked any dominant flavor. Kudos to the staff at our table, who made the evening memorable by bringing out surprise small mousse cakes for our anniversaries. Super nice touch!! Glad we tried it but probably a one-and-done for us.

We knew we picked the right spot when we looked to our left and realized we were seated next to none other than the legendary Sting. That set the tone for the night -- and then came the food. We started things off with the Astice not your typical burrata dish, Poached Nova Scotia lobster, burrata, basil, eggplant, tomato, and beluga caviar all came together in a combination that was insane. Next up, the Marubini, delicate ricotta-filled ravioli served in a cacio de pepe sauce. Perfect balance of taste and texture. For mains, we went with the Bronzino and the whole scampi. The Bronzino had a beautiful char and rich flavor, while the scampi brought a clean, fresh bite that tied the meal together. For dessert, we couldn't resist ordering two. The tiramisu came with a twist served in a chocolate shell, layered with mascarpone mousse over a chocolate crumble. Alongside that, the donuts hit the spot. Overall, every dish we tried was a win. Marea absolutely lived up to the hype, Good food! Good service! Nice ambiance! and it's officially on my regular rotation.

At lunch on a weekeday, the restaurant was quiet. It was comfortable and easy to have a conversation. The meal was delicious and the service was great with a few mostly pleasant surprises. The bread offered at the start was wonderful. I really liked the texture. We ordered the ruccalo to share, which I thought was a side, but it was served first as a regular salad; I was surprised that it came first and that it was so big. It wasn't overdressed - it was light, fresh, and delicious. My swordfish was cooked perfectly. I was surprised that the clams that came with it weren't warm. The branzino was moist with crispy skin. The pomegranate mocktail was so good, I plan to make pitchers of it this summer. The server surprised us with the tiramasu. It was wrapped in a thin chocolate shell to look like a big coffee bean. It was the best tiramasu I have ever had and it came with fabulous marscapone gelato.

We really enjoyed our dining experience. An elevated vibe without feeling too stuffy. Staff were very nice and attentive. They portioned out the different pastas for us. My favorite was the gnocchi! The dessert was very good - we ended up getting a second order of the mini donuts!

We had early dinner with a group of 4 here on a Saturday. The clientele + pricing speak for how upscale the spot is -- it's pricey! But the service is really solid, and the food is actually really good. It's a place where you should probably dress up, great for visitors, but probably not if you aren't comfortable with higher end places. We ended up being able to pay with inKind thankfully, which helped reduce the bill. Enjoyed the astice, razor clams, mushroom risotto, fusili, and the scallops. Fave was the mushroom risotto. They also had a delicious desserts- cioccolato, and torta mirtillo, as well as a separate celebration dessert for our friend's birthday. Of course this kind of establishment doesn't ask if you want to order mores sparkling water, they will just keep refilling it and make you pay at the end. So, overall the food was great, I can't even say come for lunch for cheaper price point since the menu online looks similar between lunch/dinner. Definitely come expecting high end pricing. But for italian, it's probably better to go to Ci Siamo because the quality is the same, but the pricing is much more reasonable. We didn't even order alcohol and we still spent ~$70 per person (pre-inKind).

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. Recommend for a nice dinner with friends or a cool place to grab drinks! 4.5 stars

The shrimps arrived first, cooked properly and quite tasty. The skirt steak was next. Although tasty it was on the chewy side. Compared to other Tapas bars, it's OK, I would return

It's a small area with the tables pretty close together. We were given a table in the far corner, which was perfect for comfort and looking out at the restaurant. Two of us each ordered a glass of house wine, which were "ok." We opted for the Boqueria Experience, which is $65 per person and includes a variety of chef-selected tapas, a paella and an order of the restaurant's special JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA, which is described on the charcuterie menu as aged 48 months, with deep marbling, rich and nutty flavor. We enjoyed most of the tapas, including the potatoes, the beef/lamb balls, the salad and bruschetta. The croquettes were "ok" with the heavy aeoli masking some of the flavor. The seafood paella was good and was different from ones I've had in the past, with the caramelized layer on the bottom. Yum. Honestly, none of us was a big fan of the Jamon Iberico de Bellota. I'm sure it's special and luxurious, but we found it not to have much flavor. Frankly, it was a big disappointment for us. The service was beyond excellent. We were very pleased with the timing of the presentation of the meal, the superb water service and the general enthusiasm and pleasantness of the Staff. We will come back and try different items on the ala carte menu. I thought there would be more seafood and meat tapas offerings in the "Experience". Instead, it was a lot of cheese, vegetables, dates and bread. Although $65 per person likely was a good value for what we got, I think the tapas items were heavy on the lower cost tapas and that it wasn't a true top-of-the-line "Experience". A seafood dish or even a chicken dish (chicken wings) instead of one of the two croquette offerings would have helped.

This place is top 3 of my restaurant I wasn't going to order a Main dish after I had hands down the best salad ever I had the chickpeas salad. It is to die for and a must have I had the red snapper Now here's the beauty today is the last Sunday before lenting season is over I managed to have great Italian dinner while not having pasta dairy nor alcohol Yet I'm so happy it felt like I had all of that. Here's the best part the bill was way below what I expected. I'm a believer. I don't usually do Manhattan since I'm Brooklyn all day every day. They're going to see me again Great food great music great atmosphere great staff love everything about this place. The chef is awesome

We had a nice table tucked in to a corner where we had a view of the kitchen and could sit next to each other on the bench seat. Our primary server, Luis, was helpful and lovely. I was impressed with the way the whole staff seemed to work together to serve, bus tables, ask if we needed anything and talk with us. I really have to say the service was superb. Shoutout to Chris who not only tended bar but worked the floor and to the lovely hostess whose name I wish I had gotten. But really the whole staff was just A+++. We shared the crispy artichokes (outstanding) and the cacio e Pepe arancini (where the fried parsley was especially unique and delicious) to start. I had the eggplant parmesan which reminded me of an eggplant dish I had in Venice -- but better. My husband had the ricotta cavatelli which was also great. For dessert I had the olive oil cake accompanied by lemon curd and --wait for it -- rosemary gelato. I was skeptical about this gelato, but it turned out to be a wonderfully fantastic surprise! My husband had the Apple Crostata which was also fantastic. The limoncello was a perfect way to end the meal. I was told by my husband that I can't shave off a star for Chef Tom not being there himself. So, I won't. Fair enough. But I'm still hoping I catch him another time.

The interior is beautiful, every corner is eye catching. They even have a screen that showcases his famous quotes. They have an extensive drink menu with themed cocktails. It was busy so things might get a bit delayed but the staff was nice. We ordered a bunch of cocktails. The Exile- This is a sweet and refreshing drink with raspberries, strawberries, vodka, and finished with greek mastiha mint. Secret Knock- This is a smoky drink with a bit of a bite. You get peach liqueur with cinnamon smoke, bitters, and yellowstone bourbon. Robbie's Reverie- This starts with violet gin, lemon, rhubarb, and tonic. Strong and citrusy. Devil's Kiss- You start with tempranillo, a little bit of strawberry apertif and orange liqueur, Finished with blackcurrant and brandy. Fruity with a kick. Great experience overall!

Classy interior, with mood lighting, and a few different nooks around the restaurant which insulates noise well. We had the Turkish Simit with Feta Butter, Crispy Calamari, Gem Lettuce Salad, Octopus, Pesto Cavatelli, and Chocolate Mousse. I love Turkish simit, and this was tasty, but it should really be served with two breads given the large quantity of feta. The calamari was a big portion and seasoned well with a wonderful fry on them, Salad was refreshing and the octopus dish was awesome. The pesto cavatelli has a lot of buzz, but it was just ok to me, the pesto was missing something. Can't go wrong finishing with the chocolate mousse, we were stuffed by the end of the meal and we didn't even order any mains.
