Margaritas is a fun spot for, you guessed it, margaritas and Mexican on an out of the way street near Ala Moana Center. We stopped in after a swim on a quiet Saturday afternoon, and found a nice spot on their vibey patio. We enjoyed a couple of pretty good Cadillac margs, which really hit the spot, and an order of tasty queso fundido. Honestly, I would give this a 4 star if our server with the red hair wasn't complaining to the kitchen about our missing items. To the nice local girl host that sat us, thank you. We waived her down to let her know of the missing items. Which she was kind enough to let our server know who was in the back. This already rubbed us the wrong way, tainting our whole experience here. Look, I get it we're all human and forget. That wasn't even an issue for us, if she had just came out to apologize or even just say she missed them then we would have understood just because of the fact that she didn't write our orders down. We were a party of 5 & came here on a whim on a Sunday afternoon. It was not busy at all. I quote hearing her say something along the lines of "no way they ordered all that. I do this everyday" mind you, she kept going. Basically calling us liars. Look, nobody is saying you don't. It wasn't even that serious. Nonetheless, another table was also missing something they ordered. Yet when it was brought to her attention, she apologized to them and said she "misunderstood". Laughing about it. I just wanna say, keep that same energy all around. As for the food, wasn't bad at all. We knew this wasn't authentic or anything, but we left satisfied. Still left a 20% tip after hearing they share tips. The host was the one who made it right, assuring that she put a rush on the order, brought it all out and also apologized on our waiters part. I ordered dinner from Margaritas tonight. I tried ordering from them yesterday but that didnt work. I initially tried to order online. After going through their menu, making my selections and entering all my information, only then did I find out they werent accepting online orders at that time. So I called. Nobody picked up and they said to leave a voice mail or to email them my order. I tried to leave a voice mail, but their mailbox was full. So, out of alternatives, I emailed them. At the end of my email, in bold italic caps, I said to call me when they received my order. An hour and a half later I never got that call so I cancelled my order. Today I successfully placed my order online. I got the 4 taco plate ($10); this included 2 carnitas tacos and 2 chipotle chicken tacos. For an extra $5, I got rice and black beans on the side. My wife got a chicken quesadilla, we split an order of chips, and we both got a guava margarita. Since our order was over $25, we got free churros. My tacos were good; they were small, but since there were 4 that was ok. Besides, they stuffed them pretty well. The rice was outstanding and the black beans were, well, black beans. My wife liked her quesadilla. We both liked our margaritas and the churros; the chips were alright but probably not worth the $2 we paid for them, given that they didnt even come with salsa or anything. Overall, I found their menu kind of strange. It was heavy on vegetarian/vegan options. The only menu items I remember with meat were short ribs, some tacos, and maybe 1 or 2 things with fish/seafood. Maybe if you click on individual items, you will then be able to add meat. That's what happened with my wife's quesadilla - only a cheese quesadilla was listed, but if you clicked on it, then you could add chicken. How am I supposed to know that? The other thing I didnt like was their service. I already mentioned about my failed first attempt at ordering from them. Tonight I placed my order online 2 full hours before I planned to pick it up. Yet, when I got there on time, they said it would be 5-10 more minutes; it ended up being 15. I guess 2 hours advance notice wasnt enough time to make some tacos and a quesadilla. Also, when they brought my food to my car, they forgot the margaritas entirely and had to go back and make them. The food here is good, but their service is bad. I was very happy with the quality of their food, but their largely meatless menu is not very appealing, and it seems the place is not run well. I would go back, but only because of the quality of their food - one of the two best Mexican places I've eaten at on Oahu. With average service, they would have gotten 5 stars from me. read more

Enjoyed a relaxed and casual evening at Margaritas. They serve killer margaritas and my favorite was their lilikoi flavor. Whatever you choose it will be spot on. The food was not your typical Mexican restaurant. Their tacos and serving portions were slightly smaller than other Mexican restaurants but the food taste and quality was excellent. We loved their pork belly tacos (5 stars), Baja fish taco (5 stars), chicken taco (4 stars), beef tacos (4.5 stars), chicken wings (5 stars), house made chips and guacamole and salsa (5 stars). If you're a chicken wing fan do try their version. It's perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The crispy crust on the chicken wings was fantastic. Their churros is a sweet way to end dinner. One order has six three inch churros with a chocolate dipping sauce on the side, and it's made fresh! (5 stars) While some large eaters may want more the portion sizes did fill our party up. So if you're a big eater order a little more food. We kept the menu handy so we could continue to sample their menu. Overall Food quality 5 stars Taste 5 stars Service 4.5 stars Value 5 stars They do have valet parking. The first hour is free after pay $2 per hour. Come early and there is plenty of street parking or park at Walmart. Dress is very casual. All seats are outdoors. They do take reservations so be sure to make one for the restaurant was completely packed when we left at 7 pm. It's a great place to get your Mexican fix. read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant on island. The margaritas are incredible. I always get the jalapeño or habanero margarita. We had the nachos, fish tacos, mushroom tacos, chicken tacos, and cauliflower tacos! Happy hour is until 6 pm but all day on Tuesdays. $2 off margaritas. And you can bring your dog! Margaritas is in the 808 Building at the corner of Rycroft and Sheridan Streets on the ground floor across from the HMSA Building and kitty corner to the Walmart parking structure. It is a busy intersection and can be quite noisy with traffic! The decor is minimal but the service is friendly, though the delivery of food is slow. I ordered the slow braised short rib enchilada with lime infused rice and black beans. It was delicious! The lime infused rice was a nice surprise and tasty too! Unfortunately my friend's order was very slow in being served because the cook made the wrong order. And they ran out of flan for dessert... Otherwise, it was a good experience, worth another visit to try some of their other offerings, new takes on Mexican food. read more

My friends took me here for my birthday. Restaurant located in the 808 Urban Center. Parking on the streets or they have a mini lot. We came early around 4ish before dinner. Not too busy. There are indoor and outdoor seating. It was during happy hour so we got some dishes from that menu. Happy hour menu is small, not much options. We ordered some dishes and shared it. - Chips and salsa - they don't give complimentary anymore. Sad! It's $3 for a small portion, no refills. Chips seems like wonton chips. Salsa was ok. - Pork burrito - It was good, stuffed with filling. Decent size. Dry burrito. - Chicken quesadillas - cheesy, simple filling. - Beef Tacos - meat was dry. Not much flavor. - Baja fish tacos - crispy fish with lettuce and tomato topping. It was ok. I'm better off eating somewhere else with better Mexican food. I am not usually a fan of Mexican food but Margaritas has REALLY good food! I love their mango frozen drink, it's got lihing powder in it and it was so refreshing! It was a busy Saturday evening and the owner Lawrence was working hard bartending and serving the customers. Very impressed by how diligent he was and it's always great to know that an owner is also hands on in his restaurant! I was impressed by how fast and efficient the service was, food and drinks both came out quickly, and our server was very attentive! All the food we ordered was delicious -- chicken wings, Mexican pizza, ceviche, pork belly tacos, and the chicken quesadilla were all spot on. We were very full after dinner lol. Amazing selection of tequilas. Unfortunately, you might not be drinking what you think you're drinking and the experience left something to be desired. Had date night here on Friday to celebrate an occasion and bought a few shots of what the menu labeled as "Clase Azul Ultra Anejo" which ran $58 per shot but the bottle sells for a couple thousand usually. Unfortunately, the bottle we were served out of us actually the Clase Azul Gold which is still a $400 bottle of tequila typically but either the menu is labeled wrong or the bartender served us the wrong tequila. We didn't see the Clase Azul Ultra bottle on the shelf so my guess is it was labeled wrong on the menu. When the bartender went to pour the tequila, he got out 2 generic shot glasses and we stopped him and asked if he had nicer glasses. It may seem petty, but if I'm spending that much on nice tequila, I want to enjoy it out of a nice glass for the full experience. The bartender was happy to oblige and got nicer glasses, but still, nothing fancy. The reason we came to Margaritas was because the of the great selection of high quality tequilas so for the folks that order those, they should put more effort into serving that tequila. Service was good and bartender was nice enough. We ordered the nachos which were very good as well. It's not worth it. -shortrib birria tacos: basically a deep fried taco with dipping sauce. While my wife wasn't a fan, I thought it was delicious. You may need to throw in some of the veg as the sauce made it a little salty. -baja fish taco: a bit small but fish was fried perfectly and just the right amount of heat -ceviche: oh man. Love me a good ceviche, and this one definitely hit the spot! -crispy carnitas: almost a fajita setup with tortillas, rice, beans, crispy pork and salsa. Totally hit the spot. -ground beef burrito: nothing out of the ordinary but just done really well -dragon fruit margarita: a must try! Such a fun place to enjoy tacos on a Taco Tuesday! Definitely recommend coming here for happy hour, 4-6pm! Highly recommend Parking at Walmart and just walk across. We got seated and served right away. They have also have both, indoor and outdoor seating. Small restaurant, nothing to crazy. We ordered the Steak Nachos, Carnitas Quesadilla and Carnitas Street Tacos. It was all so delicious. Service was a little slow but only because its such a nice place to socialize and enjoy the food they don't come around to continuously bother you and ask if you are ok. All we have to say is: W O W. We have eaten out a lot in our lives, especially during the pandemic, but we were both absolutely blown away by how awesome this place was. From the service, to food, to drinks, it has become one of our new favorites. They rushed to bus some tables and seat us before a hoard of reservations on a Saturday night. My partner enjoyed his two jalapeño margaritas. Even for being sat outside, we were well taken care of and the staff remained very attentive throughout our meal. Our biggest takeaway was how FRESH everything tasted. My partner has been vegetarian for about 20 years but now pescatarian for roughly 3, and his first comment was how surprisingly fresh everything was in comparison to what we normally eat (which is still pretty good food). We both noted how soft and flavorful the poke was, the Chile relleno was lightly fried and well balanced, and even our quesadilla wasn't overly heavy or greasy. The Chili Lime Fried Chicken Wings with the chili lime sauce has nice spice and flavor. We order the steak nachos each time we come. The portion is enough for two people to share and its absolutely delicious! If you havent checked this place out yet, you should. The space is small so if you want to gurantee a table, you can reserve a table on Open table. Be aware that if you reserve a table make sure youre going to keep your reservation. You will pay $30 per person if you do not show up or cancel less than 1 day in advance. If youre not absolutely sure, its best to just walk up for dining. Margaritas does do an excellent margarita, but at $15 a drink, you kind of hope so. I enjoyed their mango frozen margarita but was never given the opportunity to try another because despite having a reservation, it took an hour between arrival and when our drinks arrived. We actually had all our food first, and the server didn't ask if we wanted another drink until we were done our meals. I guess it saved us some money. The food was ok, middle of the road Mexican. The ambience is quite nice - open air style and breezy, and there's cheap valet parking right there. I might come back sometime for happy hour but likely only for a drink and won't rush back for the service. read more

Phenomenal! NOTE: Dine-in and takeout are both available, however I recommend using OpenTable to make a reservation! My wife and I just moved here from the mainland and have tried a few Mexican restaurants that were palatable, but this spot absolutely incredible. We both started with drinks - the "Mezcal Mule" and the house margaritas with guacamole and salsa, all of which were delicious and delightful. My wife got the cheese enchiladas, and I had the carnitas plate and tacos de lengua. Again, all the food was an absolute hit, ESPECIALLY the tacos de lengua, one of my lifelong favorite foods. The waitstaff were all awesome; they were friendly and professional, but not to the point of being stuffy. This hidden gem is so worth making a reservation for or getting lucky with a walk in like I did. The birria tacos were so delicious and the presentation was cute too! I definitely wasn't full with just two and the dish doesn't come with any sides so I would suggest adding a side or getting an appetizer. I also got a lychee margarita and wow, must try. From the taste to the presentation, I was so happy with it! I would go back just try all the margaritas, but hello, with their name, I would assume only the best margaritas! The restaurant is a bit small with some tables both indoor and outdoor so make that reservation! It has a nice, laid back vibe with good music and cute decor but can be pretty loud so if you wan't somewhere quiet, plan on coming a different time.
