Made a reservation and came in on Friday, June 19, it was absolute chaos! With the World Cup in town, the restaurant was completely overrun. The staff did their best to see us and were able to do so after about 30 minutes. After being seated, you could tell the staff was overrun with so many customers, and the manager was doing his very best to help out. After understanding the food would be delayed for at least an hour due to a back up in the restaurant, we left, but with absolutely no hard feelings. The manager was working incredibly hard, and the staff was very pleasant and kind trying to help everybody get drinks. Probably the worst restaurant I have gone to in Boston (and that's saying something). When we arrived there was only one other table seated. We were greeted and given a table. We ordered a few minutes after that, then we waited, and waited, and waited. After 30 minutes from when we ordered we were able to get the servers attention and ask about our appetizers. Adding chicken to a salad cost an extra $8 and consisted of just four hunks of a breast plopped on top. About $26 for their fish-n-chips which had four 'fish sticks' (in a part of the country that's so seafood-heavy and respected) and French fries was insulting. (With the smallest portion of tartar sauce ever.) If finding a loo wasn't such a priority we would've definitely hit the Quincy Market a stone's throw away that houses at least twenty different options/cuisines that all seemed way more authentic if you're wanting to 'taste' Beantown. It's hard to tell whether the issue comes from poor management, low wages, or simply employees who don't care, but our server showed no customer service, no smile, and no attention to detail. He was also "training" a new staff member, though it didn't look like training at all. The bartender also seemed inexperienced, as both margaritas we ordered were so poorly made that they were almost undrinkable, we left them nearly full. I ordered a frozen margarita (which is on the menu) that apparently they couldn't do it, but saw in other table they did serve a frozen cocktail. We ordered the check which took them ages to bring it, the restaurant was pretty empty, they charged me a diet coke that I never get. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. A few moments later she returned with our order. The fries were like warm at best. I suspect it sat under the warming lights for longer than it should have. So clean. Now for the food--I want to say that as a chain that is already seen as a bad chain that the food was trash. But. BUT. That Cajun seafood pasta was actually so so so so so so so good. I could have five bowls of it. Gimme fourteen right now. I wish the Cajun seasoning was on the shrimp and not just the scallops (also you get like 12 u nseasoned shrimp and just 3 scallops) bc it felt a little half assed but it was tasty. We then got dinner and the food was okay. I had the coconut shrimp with fries. There were only four shrimp in total and the rest was fries. The bill was so expensive at the end of the night. I had the havana banana drink with dinner and it was alright, not great. The atmosphere was good though and the decor was cool. Our server at dinner was okay. No explanation, no offer of an alternative, just "we don't do that." At Margaritaville. Seriously? So I settled for a sweet tea--and that turned out to be unsweetened and bitter. It tasted like it had been sitting out all day, and definitely didn't live up to the name. But the real kicker? The glass they gave me had a visible chip in the rim. I pointed it out and got a half-hearted "oh, sorry" before they swapped it out without even offering a fresh drink. Not only is that just bad service--it's actually dangerous. The whole place felt off. Loud music, bored staff, and a tired tourist-trap atmosphere that's relying way too hard on the Jimmy Buffett name. Honestly, if you're not drinking alcohol, they make it pretty clear you're not a priority. To further the point we hear no jimmy buffet songs though though out the stay Save yourself the disappointment. We visited Boston for a girls' trip and decided to try this spot because of their happy hour deal on margaritas and oysters. When we arrived and were seated, we weren't informed that we needed to place our orders directly with the bartender. We sat for about 15 minutes before approaching the hostess to ask who our server was--only then were we told about the ordering process. It would've been helpful to know this upfront, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived around 6 PM on a Sunday. We ordered oysters, jambalaya, and chicken wings. When the food came out, we asked for plates, and the staff member told us to ask our server--who hadn't been attentive at all. The oysters were fresh but contained a lot of sand and shell fragments, suggesting they weren't cleaned properly. It made eating them quite unpleasant. On the other hand, the jambalaya and chicken wings were delicious. At the end, we even need to get up to get our bill ourselves. Overall, the experience was just okay due to the poor service. I had been to Margaritaville in Dallas, Texas several years ago and was excited to find this restaurant in Boston. This restaurant looked nothing like what I remember back in the day. Food was alright, nothing to brag about. Service was good, servers were attentive. The music is loud to be able to have a conversation. It was hard to hear the servers and they missed one of the meals, so I just sat there while rest of the family got their orders. Parking is also a huge ordeal. The boat , paddles and lifesavers are a cute addition to the jimmy buffet party ambiance. The menu has a good selection of food , it's everything from spinach and artichoke dip to ribs and of course New England clam chowder. There's also a good variety of drinks too. I will say I had high hopes for the food but it was mediocre at best. Although the rice was bland and bit hard and the broccoli was underwhelming and soggy , the salmon was yummy and the sauce was a great topper that gave it that zing.
