Ok so let me start by saying, I'm a Bostonian and don't usually go to theme places like this. I like small places, family run but we were walking around and saw it and I was starving. Sat at the bar and Melissa immediately helped us. Every question we had she answered and even explained some drinks to us. Extremely friendly and a great asset. I asked her about some food and she gave me honest answers, which I liked a lot. We just wanted something small but she convinced me that the lobster fries were worth trying. I have been to other margaritaville's .. this is so disappointing. First off the manager /host spent way too much time chatting up one table and completely ignored the lack of service elsewhere. Coming from a food service background I can be a bit more aware of what needs to be taken care of ...like simple things silverware , napkins can i get some please!! Food was mot good, cold and my order food was the wrong item., she put in the apps and dinner at same time, where is this going to fit on a tiny table !! Again had to wait even longer .I had to ask someone to find her so we could leave.. and she comes to the table and says "what up " .. like really. Honestly, though there is a really fun atmosphere and decor, the food was just so lackluster I'm not sure we will be back to eat. A real positive was the staff - the host, manager, and server were all very friendly and attentive. We would probably come back for drinks because of the staff and because the drinks were pretty good. Unfortunately for the price the food was just not good enough. I know it's Faneuil Hall, but everything was expensive and just not good. We got the coconut shrimp and the fish tacos and weren't thrilled with either one. The rice was pretty cold and hard and the spinach artichoke dip was the tiniest cup with a bunch of tortilla chip crumbs. My girlfriend and I went to go have lunch for our first date! First we were seated in the direct sunlight in which I asked if we could move to the next table to not be in the direct sunlight which of course they were very accommodating with as we both didn't want to be in the sun! However it didn't go as well as we hoped when it comes to the food itself! I ordered the clam chowder and the seafood combo while my girlfriend had the rancho deluxe burger! She loved her burger but she had wished it could have been more cooked than what she got it! I got my main course before the chowder and to be honest the seafood combo was definitely not worth the price at all and the chowder was very thick and not the best chowder! read more

To be fair, all the ingredients were ingredients that could have easily then mixed together. Not only did the bartender refuse to do this, the waitress told us he was too busy to do this. Too busy? It would have taken you longer to make it frozen..... (I know from experience) I opted for a house margarita. Waaaaay too sweet!! We waited for almost an hour for ONE cheeseburger. The waitress came to our table and explained to us that our cheeseburger was accidentally brought to another table and she would have the kitchen "make one fast". Fast? This cheeseburger tasted like it was left out under the heater. We also only got about 10 fries on our plate. I asked for a side of ranch and was then charged for this...... seriously? I'm pretty sure our waitress was new. I did not want to give her any grief or stress her out otherwise I would have said something to her. Meanwhile the manager is standing at another table telling stories and swearing and laughing and not even noticing his restaurant is falling apart. There were people complaining all around us and there were dirty plates left sitting out on EVERYONES tables. This place had no "Margaritaville feel" to it. (And I've been to a few other locations) They just hung up a couple of parrots and used the good Jimmy Buffett name to sell mediocre food and merchandise. Love the one in Orlando but this location is the complete opposite. Service was trash, no silverware, napkins or ketchup was given to us. They never checked in. The food came out cold. We rented one of the upstairs spaces for a post-marathon party - about 40 people. Space was nice, we had our own bar and 2 barkeeps. No fee to book. Minimum spend was $1,500 and all food and drinks ordered went towards that and we met that. Worked out really well - would do again if we need to get a big group together again. read more

Came here on New Years Eve for a drink to bring in the new year and holy packed. There were two rows deep of people and a never ending line. The bartenders never stopped moving. Despite being busy, I was able to get my drinks pretty quickly. Management even made sure to come over to guests and help take orders as well as personally make drinks. I don't think I ever saw the female manager stop! She was rocking it. Everyone was awesome! The music was great. I thought it would be playing some lame songs, but in reality it was playing nice remixes and things you could dance too. My only gripe was there was a group of women next to me who began to yell when asked for their ids and then were literally slamming their hands on the bar and cussing up a storm. They were causing a whole scene while I was trying to have my drink. At one point I was told to stfu when I told them that everyone is getting carded even myself because it is especially new years eve (I am no spring chicken and I got carded). They made everyone uncomfortable for sure. Luckily once they left it was back to good vibes. I have to give credit to the bartender Joe (I think that his name) and the male manager who kept their composure during that whole thing. I cant say I would have been as patient lol. My son was soo excited to come here as a reward for doing good at school. He loved his double cheeseburger. I got a chicken quesadilla which was very oily but was still ok. I got martini and asked for vanilla vodka, Malibu rum and pineapple juice. Was like 5 ounces big. Everything was ok not great till we got the bill. They charged me $23.50 for the martini!!!!!! I asked the manager why there was 3 different price charges for one drink. He said $17 was for the drink but you asked for a drink not on the menu so we need to charge you another 3.50 for the vodka and another 3 dollars for the Malibu rum!!!!! Long ago, past visit: First, a tip: popular place, super busy, but the crowd thins out a little after 2 pm. My friend and I arrived at 2 pm and were seated right away. Waitress was sweet and quick with drinks and orders. A mixup with my burger, but quickly corrected. Margarita was delicious, I believe my friend and ai came here on a weekday; not too crowded, not too loud. Fast forward to St. Patrick's Day weekend: music (an interesting mix of St Pat's tunes and classic Jimmy Buffet, was cranked up so loud, a deaf person might get a migraine. Server was super fun and professional, running around assisting all his tables and ALWAYS saw my hand raised, came over right away with a smile to help us out ( wish I could remember his name). He recommended the appetizer combo which was delicious, chicken tenders, tacos and a cheesy chix dip). Just had sodas so no margarita review here. There was also a lady photographer hustling around taking group table shots: the crowd standing up and sitting down the day we went was almost elbow to elbow, both in the bar and restaurant areas. Didn't have enough cash to buy her larger photos, but wanted to flag her down because the photos were phenomenal (she made my friend and I look about 10 years younger apiece). Actually tried to flag her down to give her a tip but she was running around everywhere, too hard to spot/ catch and not enough room to squeeze past other customers and staff to get to her so I gave up. One caveat ( note, an earlier review mentioned the same thing): VERY hard to figure out where an OPEN door is to get into this joint. The place has a large patio with a link fence almost all around and too difficult and time consuming to try to find the ONE door that gets you into the place. ( When we left, the place was so crowded we had to duck under the chain to get out, with a bouncer's help). Easy enough to FIND your way out though, at least on St. Paddy's weekend: just look for all the leprechauns doing beers and bumps and dancing to Irish Beach music. Last night me and my volleyball team, along with parents, came to this restaurant. we were there for 2 1/2 hours, including the time we sat down all the way until we got our checks. our seafood was rubbery and the steaks were charred on one side and uncooked on the other. on top of that, the three strawberry shortcakes (that were ordered the same time as the regular food) did not come until the last 30 minutes we were there. in addition, the "shortcake" was actually breakfast biscuits, which were hard and dry. not to mention the food is seriously overpriced considering the quality and size of the dishes. my $10 bowl of chowder was just a side dish and my teammates $11 key lime pie was smaller than the palm of your hand. The only reasonable sized dishes were $20+ dollars not including drinks, desert, etc. last thing, a party about the same size as us came later and was out of there and paid for and left before us. although the vibe inside the restaurant is nice and the place seemed to be kept up, i really don't recommend coming here. read more

I've heard such great things about other margaritavilles but this....this was bad. We had a reservation that we DEFINITELY didn't need because it was empty. Our server came over and was fine but really could care less about us. We ordered drinks, which we all agreed were not great. Not strong enough, and my margarita was in a tiny glass with no sugar or salt rim. The menu was not impressive at all. Not many choices that were healthy, lots of fried options and more seafood forward than we expected. I think they expected new englanders to want seafood, but really at those prices and the sub par quality I'd rather just have chicken at a cheaper price. We ordered the chicken eggrolls as a starter and a chicken quesadilla, a chicken salad and coconut shrimp as our mains. Our app came with our mains, so that was disappointing. The egg rolls were so WEIRD. They tasted like turkey with stuffing?! The dipping sauce helped A LOT, but the rolls alone were bad. My coconut shrimp was....fine? Not very tasty, but the fries were good. My friends quesadilla was really bad, she barely had 1 piece. For $18? Expected more. And my friends chicken salad was....fair? She said her chicken however was really spicey. Our waitress didn't bring us utensils or napkins at the beginning so when we got our food we had to flag her down for those. Then there was the odd addition of the photographer? She was nice, but took a bunch of pictures of us, then 20 min later came back with 1 small postcard for free and then larger blown up pics for $20 each. What is this, an amusement park?! Maybe at $5 they might've made a sale. But it was so awkward to have a photoshoot and then see them basically throw away all those pictures. The worst part, my friend got a second drink, a margarita, and they couldn't bother to put it into a margarita glass, they just put it into a cocktail glass. Peak of laziness. I LOVE MARGARITAVILLE. Now, some people might consider it tacky but that's the point so just enjoy the ride. Their margs are STRONG. I loved the Mountain marg. I also got something with passionfruit idk it is very good. Volcano nachos are the move. They are massive. Come hungry. We also had a great server named Jamie. She's hilarious. You should ask for her. I love that we have a Margaritaville in Boston. It is right in Faneuil Hall and you can easily bar hop from there. The service was terrible, the restaurant was empty when our party of 7 showed up and they had three people on staff on the floor. We arrived at 1:30 pm, took us 10 minutes to be sat, after we ordered our drinks came out very sporadically (3 of which about 5 minutes after the fountain drinks). Our waitress seemed more interested in having conversations with her coworker about 4 tables away from up (Swearing loudly) was hardly seen at our table. Our food came out and it was ok. After we were finished eating it took about 20 minutes to get our check after what I am assuming the shift manager noticed our table was waiting and asked if we were waiting on the check. The fact this place was empty the fact the entire visit was an hour and forty-five minutes is insane to me. I would be suggesting some training for the serving staff focused on the customer experience and not socialization with fellow coworkers. The location is nice, easy to find right next to Quincy Market, so you do get to watch Boston Buzzle outside. We have been to the New York and Florida Margaritaville locations, but the Boston location was a major disappointment. It is usually a fun place for the kids and the food is typically ok. Upon walking in, it is definitely new looking and clean. The staff was extremely friendly. We started with the nachos which are always good and they were good here as well. I ordered the Uptown Top Shelf Margarita which tasted very watered down and there was just something off about it. Not good at all. My wife and I ordered the Cheeseburger in Paradise which seriously looked and tasted worse than a McDonald's Cheeseburger. I am convinced it was one of those frozen Bubba Burger patties. It was a skinny burger. The burger and the sweet potato fries tasted horrible. Both had a really bad aftertaste. My 8 year old daughter ordered the fried shrimp with French fries. She ate the shrimp but wouldn't eat the fries because they didn't taste good. It wasn't until after she finished eating the shrimp that she mentioned they were cold inside. My wife and I had the worst stomach aches for the rest of the day after eating here. read more

Local guy here, from Florida, and have been to a few Margaritaville restaurants in the South, was curious to try Boston's addition. Went with a friend, was seated at a table, and was ignored for the next 15 minutes. Asked the hostess (kindly) if anyone might take our order, and she gestured towards the bar and mumbled something about the bartender serving us. Fine, however given the fact that there was no one at the bar and said bartender never even glanced in our direction, we decided to eat elsewhere. Menu looks great, might try again sometime. GF options are a joke. French fries for both orders were not crispy and nearly cold. Burger served allegedly HF had to be served in lettuce, instead served with a GF roll. BBQ ribs were off the bone tender the sauce was bland and corporate. Nothing distinctive as to area of origin. Margaritas were also bland with more ice than flavor. I cannot recommend this restaurant. 90% of the seats in an otherwise crowded Friday Dec 1 night in the Faneuil hall area were EMPTY. In fact, my guess is that they are gone within 3 months unless the above issues are addressed, especially with so many original restaurants are a 5 minute walk away in the Italian North End. Imo, a classic mismatch of corporate bland versus genuine. I hope that the mgt can enforce more standards of timely quality delivery and engaging tastes. Otherwise it is dead. Good luck read more

Oh the horror.... I barely even want to write this review because I'd rather not re-live what occurred here yesterday. Was here for a birthday lunch with family. My daughter had a performance at Faneuil hall so it made sense. This restaurant is beautiful on the inside. HUGE! The decor was fun and beachy as expected. There was barely anyone in the restaurant. The food took ages. The food was terrible, just completely unacceptable. Nothing amongst our table minus the salmon dish and the turkey club were cooked properly and enjoyable. Everyone else was beyond disappointed. Don't eat here. The kitchen has no clue what they are doing they're putting out cold food l, undercooked burgers and overcooked chicken. Now the manager was great. She was extremely understanding and compensated most of our meals. It's not her fault nor the servers that is obvious. The kitchen just has no idea how to cook and the dishes were gross. Burger King is better. RIP Jimmy... Hope they get it together here because it would be a shame to see them not last read more

We planned a group night out which included heading to the "new" Margaritaville Boston, made a reservation (the place was empty) and food was par.
