The food is always FABULOUS. My family and I all agree that it is as close as we can get to homemade food and the service is always GREAT. On occasion, we frequent this restaurant a few times a week, but definitely a few times a month! This is a family owned and operated business..... the spot is small, seating is limited.... the service can be a bit slow when they are busy.... But once you get it you'll know it's worth the wait.... The food is amazing.... Anything that has comes out has been finger licking good.... If you want good homemade Mexican food and are in the area I would definitely recommend it. read more

First time here; 2 star rating is based on atmosphere Food if really tasty and homemade chips are AMAZING!! However, the other patrons that came in shortly after us were so obnoxious and rude! They seem to be regulars since they all greeted the waitress with a hug. One male was talking about having intercourse with his "girl", but in a very explicit manner all while my 10 year old son was there listening to it all. I'm calling this a hidden Gem. Started off with chips and salsa-5 stars Coffee was amazing, it had a hint of cinnamon-5 stars Chilaquiles with red salsa and over easy egg was so good. I added some of the salsa from the chips and it gave it that spice kick. This whole meal reminds me of my mother's cooking. Taco Tuesday is pretty good. Tacos are like $1.50 Service is ok. I love their carne Asada fries! They have a pretty decent happy hour if you like canned beer like bud light and stuff. We decided to check out Maria's yesterday. We ordered 2 chicken hard-shell tacos, one flauta plate, and a carne wet burrito with green sauce on top. We were all impressed with the food. The tacos were tasty, and the flautas were light, crispy, and very yummy along with the rice and beans - it had a wonderful homemade taste. The carne burrito with green sauce was delicious! Generous portions and it was not lukewarm but hot, and so damn delicious! The seasoning was spot on for each dish. We were so very happy and will be back again to try some other tasty dishes. read more

I ordered an enchilada combo for dinner from here. The person on the phone (who I think may have also delivered my food) was really nice and took my order easily. My food arrived faster than expected, without any issues of getting lost in the maze of the apartment complex. Immediately, the delivery guy told me that he hit a bump and that my food spilled out of it's container, into the bag. He handled it by giving me a discount and was really kind. I don't know of too many delivery guys that admit a mistake on their own accord, and then handle it on their own. I was impressed. I didn't take a photo of my meal for mess reasons. It was salvageable, and my stomach was still happy. My enchiladas were missing some sauce, but they tasted sooo good. They tasted like they were made with love - is this a family restaurant?! The beans served with my combo were pretty tasty. I tried the chips and salsa that came with my order, but the salsa was off. I tasted heat, but no lime or salt. Came here for lunch from work. Basic Mexican food. I got a sampler platter that wasn't on the menu and they made it for me which was great! It's family owned and they're very friendly. Great food, great staff and cool vibe. Come here once or twice a week. The prices are excellent too. Almost have to do a double take when I get my bill after hours of eating and drinking in there. Well today I went to Maria's for a med. draft budlight with clamato The bill has an extra charge for the clamato $1.00, when I have never been charged for ever for the last 4 months I question Jasmine when did they start charging for the clamato, I have never paid for it before. Jasmine answered ( I know, I did not know either) Sometime I feel the prices vary, depending on who is running the restaurant that day. The Street Tacos are great, the people that go there are awesome and friendly. So people look carefully at your bill to confirm charges are the same on the menu. Dollar here dollar there adds up. we came to eat breakfast and Maria the owner is usually nice and corgel. Today she took our order and she forgot to mention they had a huge order so we had to wait for 30 minutes . No communication at all and the sad part of it she still has the odasity to charge me for cold coffe and a drink. No customer service at all. I used to come to this restaurant 3+ days a week a few years ago but it has become terrible. They hardly give you any chips (literally have to beg) they overcharge for food. My last 8 meals have been between terrible to okay. Just during my last visit: 1) I ordered double meat and didn't receive double meat but they wouldn't remove the charge. 2) never receivers the guacamole I ordered 3) had my water empty for 40 minutes of my stay 4) received 2 small bowls of chips for 5 people although we asked multiple times for refills 5) my burrito quality was super below average 6) I used to be a regular and now wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my dog read more

I HATE leaving bad reviews but this place is not the business. As soon as we walked in a customer YELLED at us to close the door. Yelled. Then we sat and the salsa is terrible. I'm sorry it's just not good. Neither are the beans...There were mosquitoes bugging us the whole time. A customer opened the door to let the absolutely FREEZING air come in. It was miserable. Well I have no idea how it got 4 stars? This please is hard too find. We walked the door, we got seated who I thought was a customer because he was dressed casual. After we got our drinks from him, he was at his seat drinking beer. I tried to tolerate the loud music but the the only empty seat was near the speakers it was so loud I could barely hear the waitress when I tried too order. I just couldn't take no more we decided for our food too go. So when our food was ready we asked if we can get our drinks too go, they only allowed use too take 1. We asked we wanted too take both too go but they attempted too charge for 3. So we said forget it just take the 1. The restaurant is too small for karaoke and its VERY loud. We ordered the mix tostada very bland, and carne asada torta was not worth the price cause it was small. I highly recommend La Perla on imperial it's in Downey has the correct space for karaoke and the food is better. Trust me. Once again have no idea. No idea how it got the 4 stars. read more

Maria's Grill is great! Its our go to dinner spot in my family. We have been going to this place since it was called Esther's Taco House and have been regulars since I was about 10 years old. The New owner is very friendly and is usually there running the place. Their food is good typical Mexican food. Ive ordered the Chile Rellenos, Fajitas, Nachos, Menudo, Cocido, Caldo de Pollo, Chilaquiles, Tacos, Enchiladas...and I'm sure other stuff I cant remember and they've all been good. read more

This place has the best Chili Verde I have ever had since a Mexican restaurant in Long Beach, called Casa Linares, closed down in 1989.
