I was seated by a very polite young man at the front, and hits from the 70's were playing the whole time. I was in heaven. Oh my goodness! Idk why I waited so long to try this place! Good spot for breakfast food! I went here with a small group (4ppl) and had a great time! We were seated swiftly, we ordered breakfast food which came out fast and the cornbread with honey butter were great! Honestly i could have just ate that and been satisfied lol. The space inside is that of a diner and I was able to order a pie to go as well. It's definitely worth a try if you haven't gone already. Everyone had great attitudes and the breakfast food is pretty good. My only complaint is that my orange juice tasted a bit old but that was quickly corrected and replaced. I was staying nearby and came here for dinner. Since I was eating pretty early, the place was rather empty. The restaurant was definitely showing its age. It reminded me of the 80s or 90s. The entire wait staff was very nice and friendly. After being seated and looking through the rather extensive menu, I ended up ordering the Marie's Burger Combo with a cheeseburger and tater tots. It's been forever since I went to a Marie Callender's! We ordered a chicken pit pie and a turkey club with a Cesar salad. While we waited, we got warm corn bread with honey butter. The pot pie was mostly cream at the beginning as all the filling sank to the bottom. The Cesar salad was crunchy and delicious! We were so full on the pot pie, we took our sandwiches to go. We also bought a lemon meringue and French apple pie to go. Waitress was very friendly and prompt. Ambiance is a bit dated but comfortable. Typically lemon pies have too strong a citrus effect on me, but this, I can order happily. KEY LIME: We've had GOOD Key Lime Pie in Florida, and this is an adequate replacement while in Cali. Definitely a distinct difference in citrus flavor compared to the Lemon slice we also ordered. Love how the graham cracker crust helps balance the flavoring. Good stuff! BANANA CREAM: A family fave, with so many variations all over the country. Here, Marie's version doesn't disappoint. Picked up a piece of their fresh peach pie, unfortunately the peaches were mushy....not like it used to be. I'm disappointed.

It's not the same. Poor quality beef chunk for stroganoff. Meat tastes old was served warm not hot. Chili was like warm temperature and I asked waitress Susanne to heat it up. She brought it back hot but, she didn't bothered to reapply the toppings cheese and bacon bites. Cherry pie was sour with ice cream. I had to smothered ice cream on cherry pie. To go, we brought it home - ham quiche. We warmed up for dinner and it's better than eating in the restaurant. We will just have to make it to go from now on. No pot roast or stroganoff. It really pains me to be giving 2 stars to what used to be one of the best places to buy pies from. I ordered my favorite pie which is their French Apple pie for Thanksgiving this year. My husband even drove all the way from the SFV out to Camarillo to pick it up since this is the closest location to us. We were all so disappointed when we cut the pie and started to eat it. The pie was under baked and the crust was slightly raw. The apples were not cooked enough and the over all taste was lacking of what I remember the pie tasting like years ago. Whats the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Marie Callender's. PIE, right? Stopped in for what has to be the first time in forever for specifically pie. We were returning from Thousand Oaks and had already had an earlier lunch so food wasn't at top of mind. But I wanted to treat my mom to a piece of her favorite pie - Razzleberry. The gentleman who was our server suggested warmed with a scoop of ice cream so we treated ourselves. And it was like taking a bite out of nostalgia. I perused over the menu and sure it was filled with some comfort food classics but what caught my eye was the Shepherd Pie offering as well as the Chicken Pot Pie Special. You purchase and get a free slice of pie with it. For around $16. Not too bad. I can bring my mother back for a nice treat! The space is big with a lot of private seating areas. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I came in for something simple: two slices of pie and coffee. We were greeted with barely a word, handed menus, and then left sitting for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment. Eventually, an overwhelmed waitress took our order. Ten minutes later, we got our coffee--but no pie. After another 15 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave and asked to pay for just the drinks. The cashier couldn't figure out how to ring us up. Turns out, our order was never entered. I asked for a manager, who tracked down the waitress. Her response? "Sorry, I have a lot of things to do." She offered to pack the pies to go. We agreed, just to be done with it. Ten more minutes passed before we left. When we got home and opened the boxes, we were shocked at how carelessly the pies were packed. I personally never knew that Marie Callender's had a restaurant until my girlfriend told me about it when she was growing up! We decided that while we were in Camarillo, we would stop by and grab a pie to take home! The restaurant is a basic little restaurant. We only went in for the pie, but it looks to be a pretty decent size place. As soon as you walk in you can pick up your order or you can buy a pie right up front. We appreciated being able to see the pies and look at them before deciding. The staff was friendly and fast. We took home the Banana Cream Pie! When we got home we couldn't wait to cut into it! The pie crust had a nice little crumble to it when cut, and was not soggy one bit! The pie had actual pieces of banana in it and the custard was out of this world! We absolutely loved having the pie as dessert during the next few days! It comes in a cute little pie tin as well! We would definitely go back and try another kind of pie! Marie Callender's is a very good restaurant serving traditional diner-style breakfast, lunch, and, dinner at very good prices. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I particularly like their meatloaf sandwich and, not surprisingly, chicken pot pies. And their pies are great, of course. They also offer mini pot pie and (as of January 2025 on Thursdays only) hamburger specials that include a slice of pie. And while I like their lunch and dinner offerings I think their breakfast items are just OK at best. There are many other places that are much better for breakfast. Still, I enjoy going their for my dinner comfort food and an occasional slice of pie and give them 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. Came on Saturday late morning on Mother's Day's weekend and after waiting for an hour asked the waiter about a status of our order. I was astonished of the unfriendly response from exhausted waiter! Apparently , the kitchen's crew was overwhelmed with orders and looked like not enough servers to cover all tables. Instead of being apologetic the waiter schooled us for our lock of patience. Marie Callender's is a beloved southern CA restaurant chain whose heyday seems to have passed them by. A number of locations have closed in recent years. I grew up in LA in the 1970s and they were super popular. Everyone I knew ate there and/or worked there! It was my favorite restaurant back in the day. The brick architecture and landscaping of some of their locations made the restaurants feel like big, lush, nostalgic country homes. Nowadays their restaurants look kind of old-fashioned and a little worn around the edges, with a mostly older clientelle (that includes me). They play '70s classic rock radio, which kind of reveals their target demographic. That being said, their signature comfort food is just as good today as it ever was! So by all means stop by and check them out. They do breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are famous for their pies. Especially their chicken pot pies. They offer a side of cornbread with all their main courses, and it's really good with their whipped honey butter. So say "Yes please" when they offer. They do sell a lot of pies! Whole pies out the door and slices in house. On any given day they may have a dozen or two different kinds. Their seasonal fresh fruit pies are especially good. For me the holy grail is a fresh blackberry pie that they only serve for a couple of weeks around June. Put it on your calendar and go. Get it with whipped cream. You may find yourself dreaming of it out of season. Their popular basic business model has been emulated by many others - Coco's, Baker's Square, Polly's Pies, Black Bear Diner to name a few. Original burger with Fries and a slice of banana cream pie. The original burger was like an in-n-out burger just without onions. Ingredients almost slipped out on the first bite however squeezing down the buns compacts everything into a delicious burger. Fries were done well. Remaining warm the whole time, not too salty and had a good crunch. The real star was the famous banana cream pie. Flavor and texture was at a perfect balance. Let alone, was light. Figure out which day has the least competition for this nearby. Advertise on Facebook (ask people to repost for a chance to get a free pie). Advertise on Nextdoor app for locals to see. We had to request for it as our waiter never asked if we'd like some. Avocado and shrimp stack- will not personally get this again. It's basically ceviche and tortilla chips. Without the flavor like lemon, spices, or salt. It's good- just wouldn't get from this establishment as a personal preference. Braised and Slow Roasted Pot Roast- meat was juicy and tender. Could use more gravy. Veggies were good as it was t over or undercooked. Mashed potatoes were good but could be better perhaps? Meatloaf- not bad. It wasn't dry, had some gravy for flavor. The wife and I decided to give this restaurant another chance after having an underwhelming experience here many years ago. Both of us remember the nostalgia of Marie Calendar's of the 70s and 80s. There's only a few surviving left, and this location seems to stand the test of time. We came in early on a Saturday, and the place was a little dead (it was early). I decided to stick to the classic Chicken pot pie while my wife had Artichoke chicken. Served with pipping hot cornbread and honey butter, both were excellent. (Side note: the cornbread blows Cracker Barrel out of the park and is served at the proper temperature HOT). My Chicken pot pie was the 'mini' one that comes with a side salad and slice of pie. It was stuffed full of chicken with a nice flakey crust. The wife's artichoke chicken was served with a creamy sauce and side of veggies. The party of 4 was seated to the left and the young man that seated them disappeared to the back. The 2 girls at the front were helping a customer with pies to go. Here are some crazy ideas: Hostess: Say something like, oh I don't know, like "Welcome to Marie Callender's". Try to smile. Don't throw menus on table. Waitress: Greet your guests within say, sometime less than 15 minutes. Don't stand around in the back while people are looking around for a server. Employees standing at desk (I would not say host or hostess as they don't appear to be hosting anyone): look around the restaurant and see if people are trying to wave someone down for service. Work on curing those eye-avoidance skills. Stop talking to other employee while customers are getting steamed. Oh, here's a good one: offer customers a drink, maybe with a side of " the server got busy hanging around the back, so what can I get you to drink?" Final thought--get it together. Was heading to the Cracker Barrel across the freeway when I spotted this one-of-the-last Marie Callender's. Been a good 25 years since being in Marie's, experience still pretty much the same (although the days of the $5 pie specials are long gone). Prices seem to be about 10-15% above Cracker Barrel, and they also have strangely short hours just like CB - they close at 8:00. Trying for lower calorie count ona Friday in Lent so went for the crispy fish tacos, actually quite good though I'm not fully convinced that this is only 530 calories! The corn bread (which is gratis) basically doubles the calorie count, oh well, it's good.not shockingly sweet unless you hit it with the honey butter, and not dry at all. Nice crema on the tacos. Nits? Not exactly quick, even though the place was not busy, and the black beans were kind of cold. Over all, pleased to know that at least a few of these are still around. I found this restaurant to be very raciest!! While visiting the outlet in Camarillo , we stopped at this restaurant . They were not crowded , about 7 or so persons. The waitress sat us in the back of restaurant with a partition that separates front and back. At first we didn't pay much attention to seating , but went I went to rest room I noticed more people being seated but not in the back where we were. . It was very obvious we were put in the "back of the bus" so to say because we were black, the only black in Marie Calendars. I've been obsessed with Marie Callenders since I was a kid and discovered their all you can eat bruch had giant buckets of ice cream that you could serve yourself from. That location shutdown.. not due to my ice cream addiction and now the nearest location is ventura a 2.5 hour drive.. one way.. My family often stops when we are coming home from something that we had to do in LA and get a pie. Yesterday was the first day we actually stopped and ate. They start off by offering cornbread which is included in the meal. You get one small slice for the table that you divide among your group ( of three in our case). The place has the traditional diner vibe with a lot of choices on their menu including items that I forget to put into my home food rotation like chicken pot pie and meatloaf. Some of the meals come with pie and some don't. The food was good. They service was great. We might just make it part of places we eat when we are on the road but we can guarantee that we will be back to purchase the Kahlua pie! read more

Went to pick up a pecan pie on Dec 23rd for our Christmas Eve party. I got to my party and the pie wasn't done. Really runny and not a firm center how a pie should be. Couldn't return day of party or next day for Christmas since they were closed. I called on Dec 26 and talked to Nate, he told me to bring in the pie so I did. He wanted to give me another pie but at this point I just wanted my money back. Also a few or the females who work there have terrible attitudes.
