Whole Banana Cream Pie - $5 off in February (all pies)
    Allison L.

I grew up going to Marie Calendars for pie and when a friend asked for their Banana Cream Pie for his birthday I was happy to take the drive to pick it up. The pie is simple and very tasty if you like bananas. I tried calling to order the pie over the phone and was told I had to order it online. I was driving and that was not possible. Still no help. Online it goes straight to Door dash. Very disappointed in the service. It's a casual spot with lots of parking.

I stopped by Marie Callender's for a piece of pie and decided to try the German Chocolate. It was okay, but not my favorite, I probably should've gone with the Coconut Cream or Banana Cream instead. Still, I finished the slice, and they do have a huge selection of pies to choose from, which explains why Marie Callender's has been a favorite for so many years. I knew they had a full dining area, but I didn't realize there was also a bar inside. The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere has that classic, cozy Marie Callender's feel with dark wood, dim lighting, and a comfortable, familiar vibe.

Reviewed based solely on pie and cheesecake. I originally came in to buy a few different slices of flavored pies to try but they had a special going on for $5 off whole pies. I ended up buying a whole cheesecake and chocolate pie instead. The flavors were light, not overly sweet or heavy. I wish the pie crust was a little harder or firm instead of crumbly. The chocolate reminded me of chocolate pudding in a cup. Overall, they were ok.

It's amazing how the atmosphere of this restaurant hasn't changed in 45+ years yet it looks more modern than many newer restaurants. The food as always was amazing, Ricky our server is 5 Star and really took care of us definitely going above and beyond. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a great meal and great dessert. Ask for Ricky, you won't be disappointed.

When you're going to a party and you need to pick up dessert. I recommend Marie Callender German Chocolate pie. So good and no effort but you look good because they are sone of the best pie. The cashier wasn't very knowledgeable about the pies and when I asked a question, he just repeated my question without answering. He was leaning on the counter as I talked but couldn't give me a straight answer. Maybe a little more training could help. Wish there were more restaurants in San Diego.

Today is my birthday on Tuesday on June 24, 2025. My good friend Michelle took me out at Marie Callendar's Restaurant to celebrate my birthday today. I placed my order with Jasmine , it included one mini Shepard's Pie with Caesar Salad and one FREE slice of pie. My choice was the slice of Banana Creme Pie . The price is $18.00. I also ordered the decaf coffee with creamer . I also received for my birthday today is a FREE slice of birthday pie . My selection was the French Apple Crumb Pie. Everything I have eaten this afternoon for my Birthday was very delicious and true comfort food. Jasmine was our server and she was very attentive to me and Michelle. I received excellent customer service from her today. My slice of Banana Creme Pie was so delicious! I will definitely come back here again soon.

The food here is amazing. Today for dessert we had berry pies. The service from Shannon is perfect. We gave Shannon five stars. Here is casual and clean.

One of the last remaining institution that helped many generations to experience joy when having a piece of pie!!! Always a welcoming restaurant to visit for simple and delicious food that invokes happy memories of family outing for a meal. Service is always friendly and warm. And the bakery selection, especially pies are the best quality and richness worth getting. Parking is plentiful. Pies are plentiful. Happiness is plenty when you have a Marie Callendar's pie!!!

Great experience! I haven't been to a Marie calendars in probably about 10 years, so we figured we would stop in for lunch today. Our server Ricky was wonderful. The decor is the same as I remember and I LOVE it! The food was great, and the appetizer was half off for happy hour which was more than a deal! We also loved the complimentary corn bread! We ordered, the tuna melt, a smash burger, kids Mac n cheese, and a mini pot pie with a Cesar salad. We all really enjoyed our chosen dish! Of course we finished off the meal with pie, delicious and satisfying.

It's a great place for classic dishes like turkey, meatloaf, and shepherd's pie, some of my favorites. I enjoy meeting family and friends here for brunch since there are plenty of choices, especially because they serve both breakfast and lunch. They could improve their pies, but I do appreciate the complimentary slice during birthday celebrations. Service has always been good.

For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a banana cream pie from Marie Callender's, and it was delicious! The filling was so creamy, the crust had that perfect buttery crunch. I honestly loved every bite. A classic done right.

I miss having one of these treasures in my home town. I was thrilled when I found one on a trip to San Diego for a doctors visit. I was so happy to see very little had changed. The food was fresh and delicious, the staff was incredibly nice and friendly, and just the overall feeling was of comfort and calm. You couldn't ask for more. I will be making this a regular trip!

When did Marie Callender's start leaving the skin on peaches for their fresh peach pies?!?

It's called laziness, some of the stores sell them this way. I worked at the Westchester store near LAX, which is no longer there. Our employees got there at 6:00am and worked for long hours washing peaches, peeling peaches, cutting up peaches,…

The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, but more customers began coming in shortly afterward. They have a spacious, garden-style patio that can accommodate larger groups, but we chose to dine indoors in their nicely decorated, modern dining area. For our meals, we ordered the Grilled Shrimp, Beef Bourguignon, Meat Loaf Sandwich, and Classic Burger. Every dish was a solid choice, and I would definitely order any of them again the next time we visit. Normally, we skip dessert when dining out, but our waiter did an excellent job describing the dessert options and convinced us to give them a try. We ordered the Chocolate Molten Cake, which is similar to a chocolate lava cake, as well as the Brown Butter Cake. The Brown Butter Cake was incredibly moist with a rich, buttery flavor and a lightly crisp exterior. Both desserts were excellent, and I'd highly recommend them. Before we left, our waiter mentioned that, as part of the restaurant's anniversary celebration, they're offering 20% off every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday through the end of August. That gives us even more incentive to come back and dine with them again. Overall, Lemon Grove Bistro was an excellent choice, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a great place to eat in the Lemon Grove area.

They have classic arcade games here like Frogger Pong, Super Mario and pinball. There are a few newer games like a version of beer pong, Halo, Mario Kart and 4-person Pacman. The plethora of beers, hard seltzers and ciders on tap looked like an expansive collection. There was something here for everyone. They even had a chocolate espresso martini on tap. I didn't drink but those in my party enjoyed every sip and got a good buzz goin. Instead of ordering drinks at the bar, you start a tab by leaving your credit card with the cashier. They give you a tap card that lets you pour your own drinks. It makes everything feel connected instead of having to carry around a bunch of tokens or cash. When I visited, they were hosting trivia night. It definitely brought in a crowd. Most of the tables were full, so walking around got a little tight because the space isn't very big. Even so, the atmosphere was lively. It felt like everyone was having a good time. I ended up trying the Cranberry Mule, which I really enjoyed. It was nice being able to pour just the amount I wanted instead of committing to a full drink. Overall, I had a really fun time here. It's a unique spot that gives you something a little different from your typical bar. Once you're ready to leave, you just close out your tab and head home. I'd definitely come back with a group of friends.
