Cream chipped beef on Belgium waffle, 2eggs, home fries, sausage, and bacon.
    Mark P.

I was passing thru La Plata and decided to stop here because of the good reviews. Glad I did! This place does an amazing breakfast! I ordered a full cream chipped beef on a Belgium waffle, 2 eggs, home fries, 2 bacon, and 2 sausages. And, of course, coffee to help it all down. In a word, delicious! IMHO, cream chipped beef should always go on a waffle now. Biscuits and toast don't hit the same anymore. The scrambled eggs were basically perfect with some pepper added in, the home fries were delicious and well-seasoned as well, and the bacon had good crunch. But I was surprised by how good the breakfast sausages tasted. This was not frozen or instant sausages that chain restaurants offer, these were fresh, spicy, and delicious with good snap! Overall, one of the best breakfast meals I've had in quite a while! Of course, I think everyone in the area knows this place is good. It was very crowded when I entered and remained so the entire time. It's decently sized inside so it can accommodate quite a few people, but it still remained packed with people waiting inside and outside. Overall, if you enjoy diner food like I do, and you're in the La Plata area, this should be on your list of food stops.

    Corned beef hash omelette

I was excited to finally get to Marie's following all the rave reviews I heard from people and read on Yelp. Ultimately, for me it was a mixed bag. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and in true diner lore I observed them being even more engaging with the regulars. I ordered a corned beef hash omelette and grits. The grits were solid but I was less impressed with the omelette. While I appreciated the significant bang for your buck with a huge omelette worth twice the sticker price on the menu, the meat was perhaps too plentiful and overpowered the eggs - making the dish less balanced than I prefer. The eggs also lacked the "real eggs" consistency and taste I love. It was ok, but when I cannot finish a dish that says a lot - I have a huge appetite after all! I am, however, glad my table mate said they have delicious cakes. When you first walk in there is a display of many wonderful looking cakes, and they do taste as good as they look. I tried a slice of chocolate and a slice of blueberry lemon. They were both succulent delights, making it a darn near certainly that I'll be back to the diner even if only to buy more cake!

First time here and definitely won't be our last! We came during the snow storm and called ahead to make sure they were open. Their lot was cleared of the snow and ice, but they were packed with people! We walked into a warm restaurant with lots of smells hitting our noses. We glanced to our right and found a whole case of desserts which looked so appetizing. We got seated almost instantly and had a great waitress named Kim. She knew the 6 paged menu like the back of her hand. We took advantage of some of her favorites, and they didnt disappoint! I ordered the iconic sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy was definitely homemade and poured generously over the top of the freshly made biscuits. I also got 2 eggs and some scrapple. Kevin had the chicken fried biscuit pictured on the menu and subbed loaded brunch potatoes for his side. The portions for everything were way larger than expected and caused us to have leftovers. We will definitely be back soon! Jake n kev

We were greeted by our server and immediately seated. The place was actually more crowded than we thought it would be on a weekday evening. Ordered two fried chicken dinners. Each came with two sides plus a side salad and a biscuit, for 10.99. The food was average, but considering price and the amount of food, a great value. Not super fancy, definitely a no frills place. But if you're on a budget and super hungry this is definitely the place for you. Weekends during brunch hours are typically packed, so maybe try a week day for a shorter wait time. Oh, and how can I forget...the cakes. For the price point, serving size, and taste, these cakes are definitely worth trying. Whether they're home made or not is up to you to decide, but for cheap eats....no complaints here!!

This charming, family-run spot may be small, but it delivers big on flavor and hospitality. The food is consistently excellent, and the customer service is top-notch. The biscuits are absolutely incredible, and the steak is cooked exactly to your preference--mine was medium, and it was perfect. Be sure to try a mimosa; they're delicious and come in a variety of flavors. Arriving early is a good idea, as there can be a wait, but trust me--it's well worth i

Poor service. The host was pretty rude when we asked about the wait times. So we took the hint that we weren't welcomed and left.

We went in,added our name to the waitlist. The hostess took our phone number and said that she would send a text when our table was ready. We were fine with that and went back to the car to wait for the text message. Almost an hour goes by, and the crowd visibly dies down, so we go back inside to check on the wait times. The hostess said that someone had accidentally marked us as a "no show". She apologized and sat us immediately. I wish it would have ended there but when the food came out it was already cool (not hot). I mentioned it to our waitress and she apologized and got the manager. He offered to remake the food, but I am not a fan of sending food back to the kitchen so I declined. Plus we were starving and didn't want to wait extra time to eat. I reiterated that the taste of the food was fine, but I just wanted to make him aware of the temperature of the food. Instead he gave us 10% off of the bill and a $10 gift card for the next visit. I commend the staff for handling this very professionally. I'm pretty sure I'll still end up going back at some point because Silver Diner is local and one of those quick "go to" spots in Waldorf for all day breakfast, but just won't go on super busy days. I think three stars is a fair rating for this visit considering we never received a text and the temperature of the food. I'm looking forward to a different experience next time and giving five stars

We walked in and saw a variety of food and drink items both made fresh and pre-prepared. I ordered the avocado toast and it was the best I've had in a very long time! Why has it taken me this long to write a review, I'm not sure. We were visiting family in MD and we stopped in for a very quick breakfast because we were short on time. I also want to apologize for only a few pics as we were in a rush! We decided to share the Fried Chicken and Waffles, and the Veggie Omelette! The fried chicken was very good - the thick slice of chicken breast was tender and juicy . The Silver Diner puts its chicken in pickle juice, vinegar and spices for 24 hours. The fried coating was crispy and had a nice crunch. Have I had better fried chicken, of course, but this was good. The Waffle was light and fluffy - it tasted good. With some syrup, the combo was a winner! The Veggie Omelette wasn't as good as I'd expected. I usually tell the server to have the omelette cooked in butter (versus oil used by most kitchens), but forget. I believe using butter can radically improve the flavor of the egg; whereas oil has no flavor. The omelette had little flavor - the vegetables (onions, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes) were 'okay', but needed to be sautéed longer. The potatoes tasted good - they had a little exterior crisp , but a nice soft texture. The biscuit was very good - it was golden brown with flaky tender layers inside. We layered it with butter! It's hard to believe I've been going to the Silver Diner for 37 years! I'll definitely be back!

We eyed it the night before while driving into National Harbor, and thought it would be an ideal place to go - so off we went. Silver Diner is a chain with several locations in the MDV area. It wasn't crowded when we arrived shortly after 8am, so we were seated right away. The space is large with a combination of booths, tables, and a counter - very typical diner. There was a hint of retro vibes here, and as a whole the space looked great. Like many a diner, the menu is extensive with a variety of cuisines. The breakfast selections were pretty standard, but we noticed they offered some specials on weekdays that consisted of a breakfast dish, coffee, and juice. We all decided to order a special - and I went with the jack cheddar cheese omelette. I had a choice of meat to add (I went with sausage), and the dish also came with hash browns and a biscuit. The food itself was good - solid diner fare. The reason why I'm giving such a low rating is that there were major breakdowns in service. Coffee service was relatively slow, we did not get any juice nor were we asked to order it despite being part of the specials we ordered, my colleague wasn't offered any breakfast meat with her dish despite it being advertised as it being included, and my dish was served with a side of fruit instead of hash browns. These were fixed, but there was just a multitude of misses that really impacted the meal. Perhaps we came on a bad morning, but my experience at Silver Diner wasn't the best. I would consider giving them another shot, but I'm not running back.
