Bugs in food! I have…read morebeen writing yelp reviews for over 14 years and have been elite for 12. I've never had anything like this happen and the way it was addressed is unacceptable! I have been going to Nifty Fifty's since I was in HS in the 90's. I was so excited to have this location open, until yesterday. You can see I went when this location first opened and gave them 5 stars. Things have changed. I stopped by and got a milk shake and cheese fries to go. I sat outside on their bench for 5 minutes. Ate a few fries and finished a phone call before heading home. When I got home I opened the fries and there were bugs in them. I immediately got sick and ran the food outside to the trash. I tried to call the restaurant 4 times with no answer. I called another location to make sure I had the right number, which I did. Today I went back to tell them what happened. I asked to speak with manager privately as this was something I didn't want to talk about openly. I asked for a refund, which they denied. They said they were so busy they couldn't answer the phone. It was empty when I was there less than 30 minutes prior so I find that hard to believe. They said I sat at the bench for the 5 min and that's where I got the bugs. They said they would remake the food but I couldn't sit at a table even though the place was empty. At this point I did say very loudly there were bugs in my food and I wanted corporates number, which they would not provide. They then asked me to leave when people were asking what happened. I'll take up a dispute with my credit card. I didn't photo the bugs as I was physically ill from thinking about the ones I ate at the restaurant and had drank 1/2 my milkshake. I'm very sad that this will be my final visit to Nifty Fifties but even when offered replacement food. At first I said yes but I immediately felt sick about it and said no thank you. I won't be able to ever go back here. I filled out their online form for customer service but at this point there is nothing that can be done. Update: I did hear from corporate within 24 hours. They offered me a gift card that can be used at another location and asked that I update this review. I can't honestly update this experience because I wont be returning to this location.

We got takeout though because we're not rude lol The food was absolutely delicious. No looming closing time kept them from making a super high quality meal! Clearly the best ingredients, everything was fresh, and the milkshakes, omfg the milkshakes. I got a birthday cake one and my husband got the banana cream pie. They use real slices of cake and pie to make these and it was a holy calling. The best milkshake I've ever had! The decor is fantastic too, love the oldies theme! I really wish we had places like this in New England. So yes, I recommend this place, especially since they close an hour later than most restaurants in the area. A smart business strategy backed by an upkeep in quality and taste. Great prices too, very budget friendly.

I ordered takeout via the website which was pretty seamless. Upon entering the place was empty. I walked to the counter and there were two employees making fries and one typing on the computer. Waiting to be greeted or asked for help I grabbed some chips to pair with my sandwich and placed it on the counter. And still no look or any sort of acknowledgement from any of the employees. They knew I was there but they were distracted so I waited patiently. After about 5 mins a gentleman asked if he can help and I said I'm here for a pickup. He went grabbed my order and I paid. I showed him my check in coupon for a free fountain drink. He called what he said was his manager and explained to her I have a coupon which clearly states the business name and location, and she replied "we don't have anything like that". Ok. Cool. I wanted to get the service portion out of the way because I wanted to be fair with the food as standalone since it was takeout and I don't know how the dine in experience is but one can only guess They have sticker branding on the hoagie wrap which is cool. I opened and noticed the seeded roll which was fresh and soft. When i split the sub to see the contents it was far from properly proportioned and honestly looked like two totally different sandwiches. When I opened one was full with onions to the point I had to take some off, and I love onions! But this was too much. When I ate the bread was soft had nice texture but the sandwich itself was bland. I tasted more onions than anything. The meat was just there for texture and there wasn't a lot of it. No kick from the Capicola no tang from the Genoa. It was underwhelming. I had banana peppers on the side which when I added still couldn't save it. To be named a hoagie shack and get served a disproportioned tasteless sub just resulted in disappointment. I had some great hoagies so in context my bar is set pretty high but this place even with the convenient close location will not be seeing my business going forward. We then went up to the counter to order food. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our group. The girls loved the food. My husband and I split the bbq sampler. The Turkey was moist and delicious. The pulled chicken was also a hit. We liked the brisket, but felt we have had better. We are both pretty picky with our Cole slaw and potato salad and felt it was really good. We also loved trying the different bbq sauce options. It was the perfect place to bring our kids under 2. Our friends loved the pulled pork and ribs. We would be back again!
