If anyone knows me, they know that I'm very particular (OCD) about both my shoes and clothes. I almost tailor every dress and jeans/pants I purchase. There are a couple reasons why I have to give Diego and his team 5 stars. The work is pristine. They duplicate original seams like none other and their stitch work is clean. They are super accommodating and try to work with you on when you need your clothes back or when you can stop in the store to grab your clothes. Lastly, Diego is pretty damn awesome. As embarrassing as it sounds, up until recently, I had been receiving fashion and shopping advice from my father. Though he meant well, this ended up meaning that I got pants and shirts that were far too baggy and unflattering to my body and style. I decided I needed to take responsibility for my clothing and began searching for a good tailor who would help me alter many of my ill fitting pants. I dropped off a pair of pants at three different tailors, Marin included. I wanted to not only test each of them for their abilities, but also how much they were willing to help me, advise me, and work together with me to accomplish the look that I was going for. First was my dry cleaners (not to be named as I do not want to hurt anyone's legitimate business). Big mistake. They chopped and hemmed my pants without regard to the rest of the proportions of my lower body. Though they do a great clean and press, they cannot tailor properly at all. Next was another tailor in the vicinity (again, not named). Though they were competent tailors, they told me what I should do instead of listening to me and advising me. I felt like I had no input on the tailoring process and was being forced into a very fashion forward look instead of a more conservative, classic look that I was going for (slight to medium break with minor taper). Then came the guys at Marin. I had the opportunity to work with Alex and Diego, and they were both awesome. They allowed me to have the look that I was going for, but gave me great advice that enhanced the look, without overriding my preferences. They also took the mess that was created by my dry cleaner and the other tailor and fixed it up perfectly, as if nothing had been done incorrectly to them in the first place. All the while, they engaged me in conversation and gave me great advice and tips not just on the pieces I brought in for work, but just clothing in general and how it should fit. I got all of my pants back and they all fit perfectly. I am incredibly impressed not only with their skill, but with their friendliness, and helpful advice. I can safely say that I have found the tailor that I will be returning to over and over again for all my suiting and clothing needs. Thank Yelp! I could never find this best tailor without Yelp. I would give them 6 or more stars if I could. My experience: I had to shorten my pants and jacket sleeve. The jacket was embroidered. There were 2 ways to do what I wanted done, but prices were almost doubly different. Diego explained their differences and how they are done. I decided to pay less because $40 was big for me. I'd rather bring more clothes to have altered. He was respectful with my decisions. I've had a similar situation before at another tailor shop but they insisted that I choose the more expensive way for better result. I understand but I also have a budget. Marin tailor staff are not only friendly but also very polite, professional and accommodating. I thank them for understanding my need and budget. This place is awesome! I've been going here for about a year and a half, as have my brother, sister, and husband! They do equally well with male and female clothing, dresses, pants, shirts, and jackets. What makes this Marin Tailor Shop especially wonderful is Diego. He is always there with a smile. He remembers exactly who I am, as well as the rest of my family members, asks how everyone is doing, and always sends his regards. Then, when pinning and figuring out the tailoring for a specific item, he listens to what I am looking for, processes it, and advises very well. The clothes are always returned clean, pressed, and on time. Turn around times are fast. I was very happy with my dress. I have a shorter torso than most women so there is usually extra fabric around my waist. Well this very formfitting dress I have, had the hip curve of the dress way to low. I was planning on wearing the dress in 3 day. So I decided to take my dress here. It was decided that my dress would be shortened at the waistline. The problem was though it the dress has the unique construction around the hips and by shortening the waist, the design didn't sit at the hips. After talking to them, it turns out it was going to be more than just a snip and stitch kind of repair, hey basically would need to redesign the dress to get it to look right and sit right. I came back in for 4 separate alterations (2 of which were an hour apart) so they could get it to sit right. I never doubted them the entire time. They not only explained what they were going to do and why every time, but each time there was significant difference. I know it was a lot of work, I don't understand a lot about alterations, but I saw the very very fine detailed work they were doing and it was A LOT of work. But after all that the dress was amazing and perfect. They worked so hard to get it to look good and to finish it before I needed and they nailed it. Not only that, but they didn't charge me extra to redo the hips. I couldn't believe it. They just charged my to shorten the torso (a flat rate of $65). They gave me probably a $100 job for free. I would have paid too, it was perfect. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I think it's important to find certain people with certain skills/talents in one's life... perhaps a mechanic one can trust, a hair stylist that knows your hair, AND a tailor that knows his craft!! Well, after searching and searching I found Marin tailor shop on Yelp! I cant say it enough... Diego is the best!! I had him alter 13 slacks and 5 sports jacket the first time I ever met him and everything was perfect! Diego was very polite. The location is cute and tucked away off the main strip of the Boulevard which I appreciate for parking purposes. I had purchased a brand new suit for interviewing. I was so nervous to have alterations done to it, but I had seen a guy's post about his own suit here so I felt a little more comfortable. I'm petite but curvy, so I always have to buy regular sizes rather than petite sizes. The only problem is that my pants have to be shortened as well as the arms of my jackets. Diego smiled at how long the arms looked on me and suggested a simple (and less costly) solution of shortening the sleeve from the bottom and losing one button (rather than removing the sleeve and shortening it from the shoulder). It turned out perfectly. The pants were the perfect length and you can't even tell my sleeve has been altered. They even steamed the lapel to lay more naturally along the bust line. Today I'm bringing in a floor-length dress to be altered into a tea-length. See you guys soon! read more

Amazing service and workmanship! Dress shirts are always really baggy on me, but after Diego does his thing, they come back fitting like a glove. I've also had him tailor a few suits and pants and they've come out great. I don't know much about how things should fit, so I usually just follow Diego's recommendation and they come out perfect. He'll even tell you if it's not worth altering a garment and that sort of honesty goes a long way. He does such a good job that after I moved to Northern California for a bit, I would still bring clothes down to Diego when I visited home every few months. Diego really tries to put his clients first and it shows. There's metered parking outside and I've never had trouble finding parking. They also have another location on Westwood Blvd, which I never tried because I like Diego's work, but I'm certain their work is great as well. I was searching all over LA for a good tailor. There's no shortage of these in LA, especially downtown where I live. Wasn't interested in dry cleaner alterations, just someone who specializes in tailoring. Also -- just because I wanted a tailor doesn't mean I wanted an uppity establishment that wasn't going to treat me like a human. Found Marin Tailor Shop on Yelp. Their reviews are overwhelmingly positive and the few people I asked had nothing but good things to say about them. I went in with a suit jacket and a casual sport coat. Diego was so welcoming. He pinned me up right away and advised me on what my jackets needed in order to fit me best. I'm tall and slender and my jackets tend to make me look like a walking coat hanger. But not after Diego got done with them! This guy really has his finger on the pulse of modern men's suiting, which is exactly what I was looking for. Its rare that I write reviews. I now realize the importance for new and existing customers and the business owner. Perhaps I've always been 'old school' and used word of mouth since I have a lot of family and friends that believe what I have to say about things. At any rate, in this digital age we live in - I will embrace to express my experience. I've been a customer since the inception. I have spent a lot of money at this place. The service has been very good. Before I remained loyal to this place, I went to 4 other locations that were closer to home. I thought about why I kept using this location even though its about a 20 min. drive with 'normal' LA traffic. Its the care Diego Marin (business owner) gives to me and his customers I've seen as I sit on the sofa. The place gives off good energy, its clean, inside the dressing room and outside. His workers are always busy and attentive as well. The bathroom is clean too. Parking is easy since its on the side street. I cut through the alley off Veteran Ave. and I'm there. He has expanded his hours to Sundays. So that's even better since Mon-Fri. I'm usually 'go go go' at work. Frankly, I'm taking as much new and 'old' clothes of mine since his prices have increased due to demand and just the cost of living. I highly recommend this place and ask Diego to show you a 'before and after' in your clothes. Excellent. I needed a suit tailored for my upcoming wedding in November and I had been searching for a tailor spot for quite a while until I expanded my area. I came accross Marin Tailor and read the reviews and decided to message the owner a few weeks ago on a Thursday night after hours. Instantly got a response answering my questions. Went in for my tailor consultation and was assisted by Alex (I think). Alex was very good at answering my questions and providing his expertise and suggestions. I don't wear a lot of suits so I was unsure of how they fit properly, but Alex was able to assist. I told him what I was looking for (hemming pants, tapering pants, taking in jacket, etc) and he provided a quote of under $100 bucks. Great, not that bad for all that was going to be done. Alex also provided a time frame for when it would be done. Flash forward a week or so, I went in today (9/21) to pick up my suit and try it on. fit great, a lot better than when I first tried it on in the store. I was helped out by Alex again who told me to wear it around the house for a few days and to bring it back if there was anything else that needed to be done to make it more comfortable. The price came out to be more than originally quoted due to additional work needed, but Alex explained that since he forgot to include that work on the quote provided to me, that he would charge me a portion instead of the entire cost. This really made this shop a favorite for me. To be honest, I would have paid the entire cost. Overall, this shop is great. Do great work, and have a great front desk staff and great work. It was a much more quick process than I thought the tailoring would be and right on par with what I budgeted for. If I need any clothes altered in the future, I will for sure come back because I trust them. Store: It's a small store next to a Porsche dealership. Everything fits so much better after a visit here! Friendly and prompt service. Would highly recommend this tailor shop! The tailor I normally use was out of town for a while, so I decided to try this tailor based on the Yelp reviews. There was metered street parking right in front of the shop, and the inside of the shop is spacious (at least compared to my other tailor) with 2 dressing rooms for customers. The workmanship is great, and my clothes now fit me to a T... Not too tight and not too baggy. They were very patient and answered any questions. So I had to do a last minute project and was searching all over yelp to see if any seamstresses or tailors can fulfill my need. Marin Tailor came through! I went through other seamstresses / tailors before and there is no comparison on the quality of their stitching. They received a customer for life for any alteration needs. They even offered that if anything needs to be redone, to send it in at no additional charge. Everything was perfect. Great service, great work, and at a great price. I called around a few places to ask about getting my jeans hemmed and while they all came in at about the same price ($10 regular, $20-$25 for original), Diego was the only one who was able to turn my pants around in less than 24 hours (plus they charge $18 for original hem). Everyone else was telling me 3-4 days minimum. After being burned by R&L (they overcharged me, stained my wedding dress, did a shoddy job, and did not start on my dress until I arrived to pick it up), I was ecstatic to find my jeans ready and waiting for me at the promised time. They were all hemmed beautifully, to my desired length, and Diego was great about making sure that I was happy with the work (which is not the case most of the time with tailors). On top of all that, I was able to score the last 50% off Yelp deal for this location. Diego accepted my Yelp certificate very kindly and with no attitude and said I should continue to check Yelp for deals as he tried to post them regularly. All in all, you can't beat this place. Basically I wanted to get them shortened a bit and done with a more modern skinnier fit, and the tailors here did an excellent job. Diego is a really nice guy and walks you through the alterations he can make for you to have a better fit, he doesn't rush you and gives you several options.
