I brought in a lot of random clothing items that had been sitting in a bag waiting for repair. The items were basic stuff like bad zippers, rips, tears things I knew they could repair. In that bag though, was a beautiful and delicate mustard yellow crochet dress that I had ripped on the side after getting caught on a chair at my friend's wedding after a few too many whiskey drinks (whoops - lol). I didn't think anyone was going to be able to fix it. I even told them, "it's going to be hard - so if you can't piece the shreds back together, no sweat, don't worry about it," and to call me if they couldn't fix it. Cut to picking everything up - all items were done perfectly. The most amazing part was pulling out that crochet dress and not even being able to see where the tears were because they repaired it so well. I'm so, so impressed. This is my place. I was a bit nervous about having my skydiving jumpsuit tailored here since it's a unique item and needs to be custom fitted. The fabric is extremely thick and a lot of it needed to be removed to make the suit more form fitting. They basically had to alter the entire jumpsuit. I was very happy with the way it turned out. Five years ago I waited till the very last minute to get my wedding dress altered. I don't recommend anyone doing that but this place saved me. They were the only place that was kind and didn't laugh when I told them what bind I was in. Plus they didn't charge me wedding prices. I tried to tip them but they wouldn't accept it. I needed two pairs of pants hemmed & 3 dress shirts slimmed & these guys did a fantastic job. They're true professionals and the level of service is incredible. For one of the dress shirts, I shortened the sleeves as well as had the sides taken in. When it came out, it originally looked fine. But once I went home, tucked it in, and wore it with a blazer, the sides had slightly too much material and the sleeves were just a tiny bit long. Must have been just 1/2'' off. I went back with the shirt and they did the adjustment to make it perfect, no hassle. Amazing service and attitude. There guys do great work! read more

You get what you pay for with Marin Tailor. They are thoughtful and strive to do a good job. Sure, they are bit pricy when compared to the tailors in DTLA, BUT we did not feel as though we were imposing when we had to get adjustments made. We hired Marin to refit an ENTIRE set of 3 suits. So pant hems, waist, leg tapers, shirt sleeves, shoulder adjustments, collar adjustment. We purchased suits from DTLA ($97 ea.) and while they fit nicely, Marin's adjustments made these suits fit perfectly. Worth the cost to look so sharp. AND when we came to get the pant legs adjusted many months later - Life just got crazy - they turned around the fixes quickly and no charge. I would return to these guys in a heart beat. EXCELLENT QUALITY & SERVICE! Sent an email to Diego via Yelp about a quote to hem some of my jeans and received a response minutes later. I wanted a super quick hem on a pair of jeans and he was able to get the work done within a day. I went to the shop, was greeted warmly by Diego himself, who quickly proceeded to measure me. Right away, I knew that this was a tailor with skill and experience. He knew exactly what I wanted and even made a couple of suggestions that would compliment my figure without sacrificing the integrity of my jeans. When I went back to the shop, my jeans were ready to go! He asked me to try them on and see if I liked them or needed adjusting and everything was absolutely perfect. I have made the mistake of getting alterations done at a dry cleaners. Never again. The things that seem so simple can be botched by people who are unskilled. Marin Tailor impressed me. I had a simple request, shortening the shoulder straps on two dresses. One was casual, one was a designer cocktail dress. They really impressed me with the attention to detail on each one. Each was executed differently because the fabric and style of the dresses were drastically different. The casual dress is one of my faves. It is a bulkier fabric, so the seams are bulkier too. Instead of making the new seam on the top of the shoulder, they placed it slightly to the back so it sits nicely and i dont have two ridges on the top of my shoulders. This is something I didn't consider initially, but noticed it away when I tried it on. The cocktail dress is beautifully cut, and I'm guessing a bit more of a challenge to shorten the shoulder while maintaining the original design and shape. They did a beautiful job! I'm thrilled. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I walk inside the store and the guy knew exactly what I was there for - he didn't even say a word, smiled, and opened the door to the dressing room to try my jeans on. Pick-Up. My jeans were awaiting for me a couple days later. One pair of jeans was finished and the guy communicated that there was a mixup with the other two pairs. He asked if I had 15 minutes to finish the two pairs and that he would deliver them to me! I kid you not, 20 minutes later they were in my hands! read more

The guys at Marin are the best. In addition to being nice guys, they do such high quality work. Because I like my pants to have a more tailored fit, I've taken at least 15 pairs of jeans and pants to them for tapering and hemming. They've all come out great. And they even offer to make fixes if the fit isn't right but I haven't had to take anything back. read more

Great tailor, I can't deny that. I don't really need to elaborate -- all the hype from other reviews is true. This tailor will listen to you, make suggestions, and pin point EXACTLY what you want. On top of that, the customer service is great. Very friendly, unlike most tailors who seem impatient and miserable. \ My only issue is the pricing. I agree, for the quality, the pricing is great, but I think most people just haven't found a venue that tailors just as great and costs less. They find a place like this and settle -- never try looking for another tailor. I mean this is understandable because if you are happy with something, why change right? Well I found another tailor that does an excellent, excellent job and costs about 1/3 of this place. Personally, if your finances are fine with the cost of this tailor, please go ahead and go about your business here. Otherwise, I would suggest looking for more inexpensive places to compensate your budget. There are plenty of great tailors out there with competitive prices. Do I recommend? YES BUT I will say, i'm glad I didn't settle and found another place I'm more than happy with and costs much less. Cheers read more

First time I have required the services of a tailor, but they were great. I had bought this particular jacket last fall and it got torn on the sleeve after an attack from a wire fence. I don't usually care too much about my clothes and although it's not particularily expensive, I loved this jacket. Anyway, I stopped by and they got it fixed up PERFECTLY in two days. I brought in two pairs of pants that have zippered cuffs that needed to be hemmed up. Most tailors just roll up the zipper. That method is functional but it leave you with a shorter zipper and the aesthetics are not as nice. Marin Tailors is one of the few I found that will actually take the time to move the zipper up and keep the length intact. This requires more work which means it's going to costs more. But some pants are worth the costs. read more

Best tailor in the neighborhood. I am happy I checked this place out after I read its great reviews. I ordered a beautiful dress online and couldn't be returned...and the fit was TERRIBLE. It was a bandage dress that was supposed to be form-fitting, and it was a shapeless bag on me. Diego did the impossible and made this dress fit me like a glove. He aims for perfection and because the zipper stuck out slightly (unnoticeable to me), and also because I was a first-time customer, he took 10% off. Don't get me wrong, this place is PRICEY, especially living on a grad school budget, but for those nice pieces, I wouldn't trust anyone else! read more

Went here recently to get a bridesmaid dress taken out. Diego was so nice he said that he would do what he could and it would be about $35-45. Which was heaven to my ears since most places want to charge more just because it's for a wedding. I understand that some of you go to DTLA and get better deals. I don't want to go to DTLA for fun let alone to get my dress taken out. DTLA with traffic is a nightmare for me. No thanks on saving 5 bucks while I try to find parking and not drive down a one way street the wrong way. Anyway, Diego had my dress done in literally 3 days. When I picked it up it was a little looser which was great because this dress felt like a scuba suit before. He charged me $35. Again, I was down with that since the other bridesmaids were paying like $80 bucks to get the same alterations. I would definitely recommend! He was so nice and accommodating plus parking was a breeze. Did you hear me? It was located in L.A. and parking was a breeze. If you want to save money by all means go to DTLA or wherever. If you want good customer service, convenience and professionalism go here. read more

I love this tailor. He was recommended by a friend, and I've used him twice in the last few weeks. Once, for a big hole in the knee of my husband's suit pants. He foolishly tore them up while onstage, and I thought they'd be ruined. They did a wonderful job in patching the area up. He can't use them for a job interview, but they'll be perfect for him to continue effing around in onstage. After I saw the great job they did on those, I brought in a pair of jeans that were beggining to wear out in the inner thigh area. They patched those up perfectly as well. 5 years ago when I was a undergrad at UCLA, I was in need of some tailoring. All I had were old, overgrown jackets, pants, and shirts - a typical knuckheaded punk who inherited his dad's clothes. Important job interviews were lined up, along with my future! I turned to yelp for guidance and stumbled upon this place by happenstance. Since then, I've been proud to tell all my friend that this is "my tailor." I take all of my clothes here - pants, jackets, shirts, jeans - and always get a personal consultation from Diego and his brother. "Hey Diego, what do you think? How about this? Does this look good? I'm thinking about returning one of these; which one do you recommend?" He could tell me that everything looks big and ugly and that they need to get tailored, but he has always been honest with me every step of the way. He breaks down the options for me and tells me what looks good and what could be altered. I trust his opinion every time and he has not failed me! Well, I base this on all the ladies' compliments =P. (I prefer dreaming that they are not...) Price must be an important factor for you, especially when we're all broke in this economy. It is definitely for me; however, when it comes to getting my tailoring done here, I don't even question the prices here. I'm 100% confident that the job will be done and I don't have an ounce of worry that my clothes won't turn out great. Talk about security and peace of mind! It's hard to put a price on that. You could experiment with other places and risk damaging not only the aesthetics, but the integrity and structure of your clothes. What a headache that could be! A word of advice for all the young guns out there: if you consider yourself a grown man or woman, than do yourself a favor and find a good tailor and stick with him or her. If that tailor turns out to be Diego, then you're in good hands... as All State says. If not, then keep looking, but I know you'll be coming back around anyway. I haven't visited any other tailor, in spite of me now living in Orange County. So long as I am in Socal, I'll be coming here to do all of my tailoring work. read more

Expensive, no doubt. Speedy service, check. Great customer service, yup. I took in this horrendously unflattering bridesmaid dress in that needed to be altered a week and a half before the wedding. I needed inches added to the bust so it could fit. When I picked up the dress it was like a Christmas miracle. The job the seamstress did was impeccable and you would never know they added fabric. It only took them one week to make it happen. The dress was still disagreeable but I was able to walk down the aisle as a bridesmaid. read more

I came in with two suits that needed to be altered in a pinch for a wedding. Not incredibly expensive suits, but my only two. They essentially floated on me; I guess the sales people at the Men's Wearhouse didn't really care that I looked like a goon. I wish I had before and after pictures. The transformation was immense: slimmed the pants, shortened them slightly, took in the seat, tapered the sleeves, shortened the shoulder pads, and slimmed the chest. Now, it looks like the suits were sown precisely for my me. Really incredible job, very expertly done stitching. Really, cannot even tell it was altered at all. Took me back about $300, but for two suits, and a lot of modifications to both. For the quality, I think this is a very good price. Tailoring is nerve racking sometimes, as they're cutting up your clothes, but rest assured that they will take care of you. Highly recommended. Now I look awesome. read more

I have been here numerous times and had different pieces tailored. Their prices are on par with other tailors, but their work is by far the best! I tried another tailor that was closer to my home, but had to come back here because they are so much better! I've had jeans shortened and taken in at the legs as well as a pair of denim shorts taken in in the waist by at least a size or a size and a half. That was a pretty large alteration, but the shorts look nearly identical to how I purchased them (except now they fit my waist!). I've also stopped in with a bridesmaid dress that was way too large in the bust to see if it was salvageable, and they were very transparent that the work was too extensive and they wouldn't be able to make it look right, which I appreciated. Luckily I was able to return to dress and am glad I didn't waste money trying to fix something that was not fixable. Everyone there is so nice and the turnaround time is usually within a week. During daytime hours you can park on the neighborhood side streets for free to save money on the meter. read more
